Psychological Analysis
Talented: Siobhan is good at what she does. A medical doctor and qualified surgeon who served on the frontline during World War 4 and the Vandenreich's peacekeeping work in America, she is confident in her abilities and able to perform at the highest levels like it is second nature to her. Her job doesn't exactly inspire her anymore, enough has happened that she has lost that youthful spark that once motivated her, but she is still more than capable of performing her duties to an exceptional degree.Jaded: These skills have not come without a tax on her mental fortitude though, and they have robbed her of most of the joy that one might usually find in life. She's often complaining that she's tired, the bags under her eyes hanging a little heavier, though not to the extent that it impacts her work. If anything, the complaining is just a coping mechanism for her - along with the smoking habit that she has developed despite knowing all too well the side effects of such.
Sanguine: Despite her gloomy disposition, Siobhan is rarely one to turn to despair even in the darkest of situations. She has a dark sense of humour, bordering on the macabre, and often turns to that when dealing with stress or distress. It does mask a naive sense of optimism, that quiet belief she can always save her patients from death's doorstep, that keeps her going. Things don't always go that way, and she's had to accept more than one hard truth or crushing failure, but that hasn't broken her yet.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Born in Dublin at a relatively peaceful time in Irish history, the country had recovered from the aftermath of the third world war in pleasant isolation, Siobhan Quinn was the youngest of the Quinn family brood. With three older brothers, she always had to fight for any little scraps of attention in a household dominated by men. They were not a struggling family, living a comfortable life in the suburbs, but that only meant they had their own challenges. Her mother died when she was young, cancer taking her before Siobhan had turned five, and that was the first spark that motivated her into what would eventually be a career in medicine.
From that point on, whenever anyone asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, Siobhan would answer "A doctor!" and flash a toothy smile. It was far from smiles all the time though. Her father tried, bless his heart, but he was already spread so thin raising three teenage boys that he really was scraping the barrel when it came to Siobhan. She was the footnote, the runt of the litter, and it was never not apparent. Left to her own devices as the boys went from one activity to another with little care for her, she did the only thing that she was good at - she read. Such an antisocial upbringing did not make her popular at school, and she was constantly ridiculed and bullied by the other kids, there were no friends to speak of. Just her and her books.
Eventually, noticing that his daughter was struggling, her father began to drag her along to various sports events. She hated them all, as it was just more of the same for the most part, but it did improve her physical health. By the time college rolled around, she was in a good position physically and mentally. Exceeding expectations in her studies whilst also competing at a national level in both diving and gymnastics. Those were the days when she felt most noticed, and she did have to resentfully admit that it was her father's doing. She continued to exceed expectations at college, her studying and diligence winning her a place on the illustrious Medicine course at the world-famous University of Oxford. She was frighteningly motivated, this was what she had been working for all her life.
In Oxford, Siobhan finally met those who were intellectually equal or superior to her. Though she had been sheltered in Dublin, she had grown used to being the biggest fish in that proverbial pond and now she was just another one amongst the masses. Still, she was far too committed to her dreams to be dissuaded by such menial things as not always being the smartest person in the room. Her research projects were impressive, her practical abilities without reproach, and after six gruelling years, she graduated with honours as a doctor of medicine.
Headhunted by dozens of different research labs across Europe, Siobhan was spoilt for choice when it came to which direction to take her career. But she eventually chose to head back to Ireland, to her home, to work at the Beaumont Hospital in Dublin - specifically in the Cancer Centre. She did try to reconnect with her family during this time, though they had spread out across the country now as all of her older brothers had married and were starting their own families, but it was her work that consumed more and more of her time. They asked when she would settle down and there was never an answer, it wasn't exactly what she was interested in.
Her life was turned on its head when Shadow Fall invaded Earth and seized control of the United Kingdom. As people fled across the sea to the Emerald Isle, work at the hospital became hectic. They were on the frontline of a war between the demons, their allies, and the British resistance. It was only a matter of time before the Irish became embroiled in the conflict directly. Demonic incursions became a daily occurrence, not an outright conquest but efforts were being made to expand their influence. Siobhan wanted to do more, but how was she to compete with these supernatural beings and the devastation they could wield. Her research led the woman away from her life as a hospital worker and into the arms of the Vandenreich.
Training to become a Quincy without any prior experience was not a straightforward process, it was arduous and challenging in equal measure. She was exceptionally smart and able to grasp the concepts with relative ease, but there was no basis upon which to build her spiritual restructuring. Even still, Siobhan focused her newly found spellcraft upon preserving lives rather than taking them. For all the destruction that the Quincy wrought, it paled in comparison to the damage that other groups of spiritual beings were causing to the entire world. Shadow Fall expanding its territories was just the beginning, and soon a fourth world war was upon them.
Most of the international elements of the Vandenreich travelled to America to fight against Shadow Fall there, but Siobhan's fight was still in Europe. Her brothers were enlisting with forces that planned to attempt to liberate Britain from demonic clutches, they just had to clear out the rest of the mainland of the continent first. So that became her war, a nonstop series of battles as this makeshift army travelled from country to country doing what they could to drive the demons out whilst she desperately tried to keep them alive. The battlefield was not a hospital though, and for all her brilliance Siobhan was hardly prepared for the harsh conditions in which she now found herself.
People died in her arms, people she knew that she could have saved on a better day, at first it was strangers but it was only a matter of time before it was her kin. By the war's end, Siobhan was the last Quinn of her generation. Her brothers were dead and buried across various battlefields, succeeded only by the children they had left behind to fight in this bloody conflict, and she was left with the joyless task of informing their widows. Moreso than any time before, this broke the good doctor. There was nothing for her in Ireland now, nothing that did not fill her heart with grief and regret, and so she travelled to the City of Light to return to the Vandenreich and flee from her problems.
As talented as she was, it took little time for her to return to surgical duties. At least she could take her mind off matters when she was working, and there was plenty of work to be had as the Vandenreich continued its bloody peacekeeping mission in America. So, whether out in the field or back in her clinic, Siobhan would do what she could to keep her past well behind her and continue to push her research forwards. She had a gift, but more time was needed to truly harness it.
NATURAL ATTRIBUTES
Medical Erudition: Siobhan could likely be considered intelligent to an exceptional capacity. She is a practising medical doctor with an honours degree from Oxford University and a trained Quincy with a specialisation in restorative and supportive Spellcraft. Her knowledge of the medicinal world is nigh encyclopedic and she has quickly risen to a position of seniority in her field despite her relative youth.
Gegengift: As per her specialisation, Quinn's training as a Quincy has always revolved around using powers as a tool to heal others. She is competent in the use of other spells, such as Hirenkyaku, but it is only in this one field that she exceeds far above the average and was something that she has both created and innovated upon. Gegengift, or 'the gift' as she often simplifies it, is the technique by which she can channel Reiryoku from herself or Gintō tubes into energy that can be used to heal the injuries of other living beings. She has refined these spells to be as efficient as possible, whilst innovating on traditional methods to make the ability as diverse as possible.
It can reconnect or even slowly regrow maimed limbs, counteract life-threatening infections or viruses, and even limit the adverse effects of some forms of hollow exposure. Though all these advanced properties require exponentially high amounts of Reiryoku expenditure to undertake and require amounts of Gintō that Siobhan would not be carrying on her at any one time and would require a support team to even manage properly.
This process is also not as straightforward as it sounds, requiring such medical knowledge and spellcraft skill to even attempt and requiring the sole focus of Siobhan and the intended target that it is simply infeasible to perform outside of hospital conditions even at her current level.
Amputation Expert: Having trained as a surgeon and practiced her craft for over a decade even during wartime, Siobhan is particularly knowledgable of the points at which to strike on a body to deal the maximum damage to a specific limb or where its connection to the rest of the body is weakest. Whilst useful in her profession as a doctor, should matters get that bad, it is also a skill that she can put to use in a fight to strike at an opponent's weak spot. If presented with an opportunity then she could cripple limbs with accurate blows that inflict either minimal or excessive damage.
Horrors of War: As a medical officer who ran a triage station on the frontline of the American invasion of WW4, Siobhan is particularly resilient to horrific scenes that might shake the resolve of another person. She has simply seen too much, and thus it would take something truly terrifying to shake her resolve. She's a doctor and a scientist, cold logic makes her more than capable of simply compartmentalizing these issues and moving on with her life. When comparing her Willpower to an opponent's skill for the purpose of overcoming a frightening or mentally traumatising effect then Siobhan may substitute her Mental Deduction skill in its stead.
SPIRIT WEAPON
Name: Blutige Knochensäge (Bloody Bone Saw)
Appearance: Blutige Knochensäge takes the form of a medical bone saw of average size, it is incapable of launching arrows in its current state and functions solely as a melee weapon.
Abilities: Siobhan's Spirit Weapon has one special ability, beyond being a focus of reishi with which she could make traditional attacks. When it is used against a willing or unconscious target, Blutige Knochensäge gains a tremendous boost of power and is capable of severing limbs entirely or making meticulous incisions with dexterity and precision many times greater than she is capable of doing with her natural abilities. This only affects targets made of living matter and is useless against other objects.
QUINCY: vollständig
Name: Michael, die Erzengel
Summary: A pair of angelic wings of reishi appear to sprout from Siobhan's back whilst a wreath-like halo forms above her head as she enters the Vollständig state. Both of these, along with the rest of her outfit, are a mixture of white and gold in colouration. Her hair glows a brilliant blonde, as her eyes shine with a fresh glow. The wings are large enough that she could almost offer decent cover to a person behind each or fully shield herself were she to wrap them around her body. Beyond amplifying her traditional Quincy abilities, increasing her physical capabilities as her body burns through the excess energy, she is able to fly at great speeds and can soar across the battlefield in the blink of an eye.
Walküre: It is the wings that form the core of this release's power, and they serve as more than just a means of flight. The feathers themselves are sharpened to the point of functioning akin to blades, and Siobhan has a great deal of precision with their movements. These feathers can also be forcibly ejected, serving as projectiles or even makeshift weapons, functioning in a manner similar to Seele Schneider by absorbing the reishi from an opponent's attack to then violently return back to them.
