COSA NUOVA

Overview

Ayyy they're the mafia, gabbagool.

(I'll actually add something one day. Until then, just ask me about them on Discord.)

Current Objectives

At the moment, Imelda's priorities for the group is to grow in all senses of the words. To her, it's important that they get a strong foothold on Earth before starting to branch outwards towards the other dimensions. That being said, they currently have their eyes on reclaiming Sicily for themselves before looking at picking up the pieces that K-World left behind.

Operations

The Vanetti, post the fall of Cosa Nostra and pre-forming of Cosa Nuova, had dealt with the industry of transportation, both internationally and interdimensionally. Though they had small numbers, they had an insane work ethic, and were able to get by.

Structure

Boss: Pretty self-explanatory. However, if you don't understand, then simply the Boss is the one who is in charge. Sitting at the top of the chain of command, all final say goes through the boss and anything major that ends up effecting the entire organization tends to be made by the boss. In some cases, the boss ends up being the face of the group, but in other cases it's rare for anyone besides a small circle to truly know who the boss is. Though, the latter tends to happen when the group grows into incredibly large numbers.

Consigliere: The right hand of the Boss. They tend to be the most trusted by the Boss and often handle the managerial side of things. Sitting right underneath the boss in the chain of command, few dare to go against a Consigliere lest they want to be out of a job or incur the wrath of the Boss. Instead of directly giving out orders, they may sometimes be given through the Consigliere if it pertains to higher ranking members, though in the absence of a Boss the Consigliere ends up being the one to take the mantle. So with that in mind, those in this position hold a similar vision with the boss in how the organization should be run.

Underboss: The left hand of the Boss. Where the Consigliere handles the managerial side, the Underboss acts as the face of operations. Most low ranking members know of the underboss as their bosses' boss, which would probably be the most accurate statement for them. It is the duty of an Underboss to make sure that members of the organization don't step out of line, acting as both an enforcer but also a guideline when it comes to etiquette. A rowdy Underboss incurs rowdy subordinates so it ends up being important to keep a likable and smart Underboss.

Caporegime: Sometimes simplified to Captain, is a rank given to those who have some of the highest levels of trust and merit in the organization. Placed directly below the Underboss, those of this rank act as sort of managers for the Soldati. While Capo are given assignments from those above them, they tend to have more freedom with how they command the Soldati and their general operations. Each Capo and their groups act independently of each other, though they work in tandem with another when it comes to the greater organization. Infighting between Capo is not against the rules, though is heavily frowned upon.

Capodecina: Technically at the same level as Caporegime, though the only difference is that a Capodecina commands a specific group of 10. Currently, under Imelda's rule, Capodecina serves as a special rank in which is given to those she either doesn't think are fit to lead more that ten people or those who she doesn't think have to lead more than ten. For example, a new Capo who was promoted due to seniority or respect rather than merit would be placed as a Capodecina. Or, someone who has a high level of skill and is meant to be given specific tasks would be given Capodecina as well.

Soldati: The low bar. New members are placed here and in terms of influence in the organization, they have very little despite making up the majority. Among the Soldati, they respect each other based on both merit and seniority, in that order. This meaning that someone who has been there longer is above a new member but below one who has completed more missions. Tasks that are below any of the other ranks tend to be given to the Soldati, such as collection and protection. Unless a position opens up for any other higher rank, then a promotion is rarely given. That being said, just because there is a vacant spot doesn't guarantee that it will be filled, and often times there may be mergers until a suitable candidate is found.

Associates: Simple, really. Anyone who is associated with the family in one way or another. Those who tend to do frequent business or run odd jobs for the family are placed here. Do note that if you are being extorted, you aren't an Associate.

Made: Not a rank on it's own but a distinction of members, between those who have a predisposed level of trust and those who join on a whim. Where in the past you had to be Italian to be made, Imelda has done away with that outdated system. Instead, to be made, one has to only be put forward through recommendation. The terms for the recommendation vary depending on who is giving it, however. If it comes member of any of the previous families (ie. those from Cosa Nostra, like the Vanetti) then only 1 person needs to say anything on the matter. Alternatively, a recommendation from both the Consigliere and Underboss works, or if all current Capo give their blessing.

There are perks to being made, such as having a level of respect to you much higher than one who isn't. Rash decisions that pertain you cannot be made without your knowledge, such as your murder or the murder of someone under you, nor financial dealings. When a made member has an objection, those of a higher rank of them have an obligation to hear them out, but not one to fulfill their wishes. If any of these perks are broken, then the violator becomes Excommunicated, meaning they lose all of their perks, are removed from the organization, and gain a bounty on their head with may be claimed by anybody.
