Crimson Debate (Asami/Elyss)

“Listen. Where’s Kyo? I gotta talk to him.”
These rat bastards telling her that he’s out are all full of bullshit. She knows he’s around. She can feel his manliness. Out on an assignment, her ass. They just don’t want her to come into their place because of the rumors. Well, it’s not a rumor that she was a rather violent woman with a tendency to simply let people know if they’ve pissed her off. Considering her growing anger, they’re probably right to keep her out, in case she does get a bit handsy. Though, all she wants to do is talk to one guy about a lot of stuff going on, and they won’t let her.
“...If he’s not here, then I’ll just wait. You won’t stray me from my path.”
Urging her stance on the matter, she simply gave up on arguing and took a spot beside the building, leaning against it with her arms folded and expression soured. How long will she have to wait for this man to either walk out or show up? She doesn’t know, but he better not make her wait long. She’s already grown somewhat impatient.

Furukawa Asami | Officer of the 5th
Asami knew Elyss Kishimoto by reputation alone, which was as much by intention as it was a coincidence. The woman was a loose cannon at the best of times, from what she understood, and then there was that whole business with the Captain of the Combat Division. Certainly not someone that one just invited over for a frank discussion on their involvement in certain clandestine groups orchestrated by the most dangerous person in Soul Society. Still, she was right there and there was not going to be a time when this got any easier.
"Do you have business with Mister Sawachika, Miss Kishimoto?"
She'd heard her outburst from her office, as she did believe in the policy of always having her door open so that the members of her Division could drop by whenever they needed anything. It was the least she could do when it felt like anything that could be done had to go through her hands first. Which was less a mark of pride in her own abilities and more a sign of the sorry state in which she saw her fellow officers.
"I can't say I know where he is, but perhaps I can help in his stead? Officer Furukawa, Fifth Seat."
A hand was outstretched in Elyss' direction, a firm handshake awaiting her should she choose to accept, as Asami wore a polite smile. It was a business meeting, so hopefully no further offence would be taken to Kyo's absence.

“Business?”
She looked upon Asami with scrutiny. Mister Sawachika… Miss Kishimoto, huh? What’s with the formality? A brow rose, her posture straightening, she didn’t reach to take the other woman’s hand as she looked up a bit. Her being five inches shorter didn’t help the redhead feel any less annoyed with her current situation, and Elyss’ head bobbed up and down as she took in this woman’s shape, face, and style. With a scoff, her arms came up, folding over her chest.
“And, what could you help me with? Gonna make him appear? He isn’t hiding in that coat of yours, is he? I hear he’s a fickler for nice looking women.”
That may not be completely true, but that man has a thing for aesthetics, and it’s probably impossible for him to not notice the niceties of the opposite sex. Hell, Elyss wouldn’t even blame the guy for finding certain features of men neat. Of course, a man such as Mister Sawachika would never lay his hands on the same sex. He’s too manly for that. Hurrah.

She felt herself bristle at the cutting response, the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end, Elyss was certainly living up to reputation after all of five seconds spent conversing. Her open hand hung limp for a moment longer, then withdrew, as if feeling that its presence was no longer required though the smile remained courteous at the least.
"As said, I don't know where he is. I can take a message, or simply tell him you stopped by when next I see him."
It was probably prudent to take that last comment as a compliment toward her comely appearance, disregarding whatever implication it might have therein about potential relations with Kyo. She knew that he had cultivated quite the image of himself as a ladies man, though it was jarring to hear Elyss speak about it in such a frank manner. Perhaps they had grown friendly after that little meeting in Florida, perhaps they had already been friendly. In her line of work, it paid well to avoid making assumptions about peoples lives and proclivities.
"Or, well, if you want to wait for him then you could do so in my office rather than out here in the midst of everything."

“Bwah. He’d probably come running if I left a message, but I’m bored, so it’s either wait here or wait at home.”
She pondered for a bit, her gaze focused upward at the ceiling. It’s rare for Elyss to make a face that wasn’t inquisitive or bland, but she sure did have a dumb look like she was concentrating on weighing her options. She also took her time with it too, as if to personally spite the woman who gave her such a hard decision to make in the first place, but she’d eventually nod her head and give Asami another look.
“A’ight. With you it is. Show the way, erm…”
She had a moment of frustration, her face scrunched as she realized something.
“Furukawa? Ya know… Just call me Elyss, alright?”

Furukawa Asami | Officer of the 5th
Asami stood there patiently as Elyss examined the finer details of the ceiling above them, her gaze never quite leaving her quandary though it did not remain rigidly fixed in place like some awkward statue. She had survived the opening barrage at least, passed through the smoke with barely a scratch on her, so perhaps that had earned her some small modicum of appreciation. Now it just remained to be seen whether she would take the bait or not, the offer of a private room and a seat was a subtly appealing one - not that many would leap at the opportunity if invited to join her in her office.
"Sounds good, let's go. And I can manage Elyss if you can manage Asami."
The lightest of laughs was all she offered, a short little thing but enough to show that she was agreeable to going by first names if that was what Elyss preferred. Leading her inside, Asami stopped by the front desk long enough to tell them to send Mister Sawachika her way if he made himself known before they headed past that and into the almost intentionally labyrinthine hallways of the 5th Division Barracks. Of course, she was going to take the opportunity to pry just a little, whilst they were on their own. Only more so once they were tucked away behind those office walls.
"I take it it's something important then? What you need Kyo for?"

Yo. What the Hell? Elyss thought this woman’s office was close by. She wasn’t expecting the twists and turns that it took to reach this single space of this division. Why is everything so complicated in the Gotei? Each turn looks the same inside as it does outside. God. She can remember all the times she’s gotten lost trying to navigate this place. It’s safe to assume her slightly peeved face is caused by having to follow Asami like a little kid on their first day of school. Is there even a chair in this office? If there is, Elyss took it almost immediately. Though, she wouldn’t take Asami’s chair because that’s just plain rude, and Elyss is a lot of things, good and bad, but she’s not straight up disrespectful.
“...I’m bored, and he’s fun.”
Yep. That’s her answer to that question, even if it’s a lie, a bold face lie. Elyss knows Kyo’s heard about everything, and the redhead wants to hear his opinion about it. Everyone’s been so chill about the situation. She just wants to talk to him because Kyo seems the type to actually see something wrong with all of this. Is she asking to be yelled at? She doesn’t know. She just wants to know if her friends are still her friends or if she’s ruined everything yet again. That thought made her eyes roam towards the floor, a solemn stare lessening her usually confrontational aura.

"I suppose he has certain humorous qualities, though there's a level head somewhere on his shoulders."
Another light comment as Asami took note of Elyss' general annoyance at being led to her office, trying her best to appease the errant redhead as they went. It wasn't that far, by the metrics by which this could have dragged on for, and soon enough they were at the doorway to her office. It was not exactly a spacious thing, dominated by a desk with chairs at both sides and a clear display of order against the stacks of paperwork that are gathered around the corners of the room. Most of them are bundled together, either waiting to be broken into or sent along to their intended recipients.
"Please, grab a seat. Do you want a drink? Water, tea, something.. else?"
She offered, knowing full well that they kept plenty of sake on-site given the Captain's unique disposition to the fine liquor, but there was no inclination that Asami would have anything but the first two choices. She could handle dealing with people who wished for stronger substances, but it was improper for her to do so whilst on the clock.
Leaving the closer seat to Elyss, she moved around to take her own place behind the desk. Almost leisurely, she reached down to the bottom drawer and removed a small, neat, black folder. It had been left there for several weeks now, gathering dust if any had been allowed to gather, but duty called.
"You don't mind if I do a little paperwork whilst we wait? Captain Shuten keeps us all busy here."

“I’m not thirsty.”
She answered, finding her eyes here, there, and everywhere. It is, of course, her prerogative to take in the environment, get a better idea about how Asami operates. Busy woman: that is all Elyss got out of her quick survey. It’s strange for her to invite the redhead over if she has work to attend to. Does Asami think Elyss incapable of being a suitable distraction? Why, Elyss almost felt the need to test that, but if this woman’s a friend of Kyo, Elyss is sure that the man wouldn’t enjoy her being a nuisance.
“...So… Paperwork… A’ight. A’ight.”
Getting comfortable in her seat, she started pondering on what to do. It’s an office. She’s probably not allowed to touch stuff. Idly, she began patting on her legs, one tap, two tap. She soon found a nice tune and added some whistling to it. Bobbing her head along with it, her foot joined in with a tip and a tap. She’s her own little band, and Asami doesn’t even exist anymore. The woman wouldn't mind a bit of music while she works, yeah? Elyss’ pretty good at it.

Her environment did give little away about Asami's character, or perhaps that was the reveal itself - that there was little to be gleaned. Regardless, she offered a curt nod at the dismissal of her offer of a drink and flicked open the black folder. There was a lot of blank spaces still to be filled in.
"Just a few little bits to take care of, we can still converse."
She got to work quickly after that, sifting through documents and making notes, until that beat slowly began to kick up from the other side of the desk. It was clear that even trying to hold Elyss in one place was a bad idea, as her temperament was so inclined towards chaos, and the tune did slowly begin to get on her nerves. Still, Asami did not frown or appear to break focus. Instead, she cut in with a question to try to lead her in the right direction.
"You've known Kyo for a while then? Were you friends at the Academy?"
