Steal Another [ Kokoko x Asami ]

It was a quiet day in the Fifth Division barracks, as it often was, which meant it was an averagely busy day for Asami Furukawa. The Captain needed to sign off on a few reports before the day was out, which was already a mission in itself, and then there was a training exercise with the division members that wasn't going to lead itself. Somehow, she had completed those tasks and still found herself with some time to herself. There was still time to make a dent in the stack of reports that were piling up and around her office, how fortunate.

Then, suddenly, there was a new woman pointing at her. Someone she hadn't seen around before. And she was mumbling about... Captain Liana? Slowing to a halt, Asami pivoted on her heels and began to approach the commotion.

"What's the matter here? And why are you pointing at me, Miss, can I help you?"

"Koizumi, huh? From the Second Division? Does Captain Liana want someone in particular?"

Asami looked to the other Division Members that were currently embroiled in this discussion and gave them a nod, which most of them took as a chance to get back to what they were doing before this interruption had begun. She wasn't exactly free to spend a few hours doing errands for another Division under normal circumstances, a request from the Captain was enough to justify such a disturbance but outside of that, there was little to intrigue her at this point.

"I'm probably the one you want to talk with to arrange such a thing anyway. Asami Furukawa, Fifth Seat, at your service."

A hand shot out towards Kokoko for a handshake, it was perhaps less than what proper protocol demanded but Asami was prepared to cut a corner or two to get the job done when it was holding up her other work.

The outstretched hand slowly retreated, leaving Asami wondering if the girl had even noticed that it had been offered to her. Folding both arms in front of her, she puffed her chest out a little and gave a nod.

"I am somewhat familiar with most of the Koizumi branch families, Miss Kokoko."

Her tone was not intended to be insulting, though the comment was certainly a little more pointed than her originally bubbly introduction.

"But you do not need to apologise. If another Division needs someone from the Fifth to help then I'll step up to the task. Might add a little colour to my day."

The red fascinator that sat amidst her mass of hair seemed to almost perk up at the thought of her look being plain, not that Asami had any knowledge of such. There was work that she could keep chipping away at but it would still be there tomorrow, so why not go for a little jaunt over to the Second Division? Kokoko certainly looked like she could use the help anyway.

Being helpful to her juniors was a trait that Asami prided herself on. She would do what she could to ensure that the younger generations got every leg up that could be given. Even that had its limits though, and dabbling with Kido was hardly one of her fond pastimes.

"What exactly are we doing that I need to sign a waiver for? If this could put me out of action for a day or a week then I might have to decline."

She took the offered form, scanning it warily for signs of some greater danger coming her way. Honestly, being asked was scarier than having it thrust upon her. Certainly felt more menacing.

"If even the Captain of the Second Division is not confident..."

Kokoko's earnestness did little to dissuade Asami's doubts, but there was that base feeling in her gut that wanted to assist her junior. Her head and her heart went to war for a moment, before she submitted to her inner good intentions. Doing what had to be done, she signed off on the dotted line and handed it back to Kokoko with a supportive nod. Worst came to worst then Tatsuki would just have to cover the extra paperwork that flowed down from the Captain's office like a waterfall.

"Alright, that handles that then. Now I'm putting myself in your care, Miss Kokoko, so lead on."

Perhaps she should have asked if there was anything that she should bring, or whether she should have skipped lunch. This whole business hardly seemed pleasant, but it was a small price to pay for progress. Besides, her endurance could probably do with some advanced conditioning. It was rare enough that the regulars in the 4th Division truly got the better of her these days, so the extra practice was welcome. Even her brain was slowly coming round to the idea, it seemed.
