» Withdrawn: Karin is a stoic individual that doesn't make much of herself known. She does go out of her way to share things with others but it would be a lie to say that she is devoid of any kind of emotion, due to growing up without a mother and always wanting to avoid her family worrying about her. The easiest way to do that is to confine it and while this introspective attitude does make her quieter when it comes to being honest about a lot of things she is still able to carry a lot of superficial charm with her attitude towards people.

» Masculine: She's not a girly girl, not as a kid and it didn't translate into her later years either. If anything, Karin only became more tomboyish as she got older and grew to have even less reasons to try and act the part that Yuzu made up for between them. She accepts that she's not the most effemininate individual and while there was a period when she was more considerate of it. In her older age, Karin can't be bothered trying to make up for it anymore and has just accepted that it is the way she is. You can't teach an old dog new tricks after all.

» Reckless: When it comes to situations, whether fights or otherwise. There is very little care that she puts into the things around her. It is actually something that causes great strife between her and her employer, she does not really take a great deal of care in making sure that whatever specialised equipment he gives her is brought back in working condition. As long as the task is complete, it can be safely deduced that Karin views being wounded as just a hiccup of completing that task. In this day and age, it's not like there's a lot that can't be undone after all right? So who cares if you get a little beat up in the process.

» Weary: A byproduct of being born in a world where the average life expectancy was far below what it would normally be nowadays. Ignoring her youthful body, Karin is a fatigued person who has lived longer that she expected to and feels the affect of age regardless. Oftentimes being seen napping or having rings around her eyes that would have people concerned for how much sleep she is getting. She remains patient but once her fuse runs out there is no way to conceal just how frustrated she can be and the hothead of her youth reappears like a ghost.


Karin Kurosaki was born as the older twin of a pair to Isshin and Masaki Kurosaki with her older brother Ichigo. It's not like her history is particularly obscure and she finds it annoying that you could probably find a wikipedia adjacent page or two on her early life before she became an adult due to the relation to her brother and father being a former Gotei Thirteen Captain. That said, after the defeat of Aizen she frequented the Urahara Shop. Becoming a frequent visitor in a desire to stop being the subject of protection, for her it was a matter of her character. She did not want to make her family worry about her or feel like they needed to help her.

From this she began to seek her own way to be able to be independent and the everchanging nature of the world made that all the more necessary until it snapped entirely. The faint threat of the spiritual and physical worlds clashing turning into more than just something that would be solved changed her life course and she dropped out of becoming a nurse. It wasn't like she could settle down happily after such a change.

Where did life take her from there? Besides honing her nature as a spiritually attuned human. What was formerly a part-time job which she had with the Urahara Shop to make some money to get her through her education fees instead became a full-time job where she began to assist in the monitoring of spiritual threats that appeared in the world - subduing them at times if necessary.

She never tried to distance herself from her family but it was ultimately inevitable. As her life became filled with more turmoil, reflective of the changing times and busy. It became harder to spend time with her family. Even if she would do anything for them.

Conflict after conflict, the ever changing landscape and new threats. She became an expert and many fields to fulfil the jobs that she would be given by her employer. Even an episode where she found herself as a teacher in Karakura High School to attempt to scope out promising spiritual abilities which might be useful in the same vein her brother was.

Her stoic nature which became more utilitarian and pragmatic, she feared at times that her compassion was being wounded everytime that she would look at the situation through the most efficient course. These fears were put to rest after she became pregnant and had her son, finding some solace that no matter how tired, frustrated or concerned she was about losing touch with herself after all the chaos of the world. She still saw her better qualities which she worried losing being there when she was around him and that even if her family had drifted apart for all kinds of reasons, she did still have a family around her and that was good enough for her.


» Perpetual Energy Reserves: A rather unnatural attribute of Karin's. While she does not boast high spiritual reserves like her older brother, her spiritual make-up is compared to a perpetual motion machine. Essentially generating more energy than she requires or can normally contain within her body which causes it to constantly leak out and be nigh impossible to remain undetected by even the most basic reiatsu sensors unless an intervention is taken, omitting that it's greatest strength is that Karin's energy reserves do not deplete.

By the time that she expends her stamina and reiatsu, more will have already been generated to make up the loss. If her brother's energy reserves are comparable to a tap that does not turn off, she is a glass of water that will not run out. As far as she is concerned, it's just a matter of scale but the same principle.

» Martial Expertise: Not one who is inexperienced in a fight, Karin has no particular style besides what she has developed of her own experience. While that causes others to think she is quite inept due to not formal martial training being undertaken she vehemently disagrees and her own self-made style from her younger years has the advantage of being difficult to follow and her formless fighting style can be said to appear wildly different at times like the changing of a moon's phases.

Medical Expertise: Due to her prior training as a nurse, growing up with her father and working in the clinic. She is quite adept at being able to render medical aid, but with it comes a great understanding of the body's anatomy and physiology, the systems and how to take advantage of that for better or worse. It is this applied with a bit of technical know-how of her employer that she boasts impressive intellect in constructing toys and contraptions albeit paling in comparison to his own.

» Formless White: The basic skill of Karin which fuses her inheritence, while she is a high-spec human with spiritual powers it is difficult to truly define where she lies as her powers appear to emulate different kinds of powers from different subsets. The most accurate way to assess her power is to identify that she harnesses her power through mediums and the usage of raw energy is something never seen by her. The usage of her power to fire blasts of energy was always difficult and neglected due to the affinity for using it to manifest in physical objects.

Due to her usage of mediums she appears to function similar to an onmyoji, which she finds it annoying when people compare her to that but even she has to accept the resemblances considering she will make use of paper tags, pebbles and other assorted trinkets she can fit in her pocket - inscribe energy into them to utilise them as what she calls "bullets" due to their nature as single usage spells which consumes the medium.

On top of this is her application of familiars which her son has taken to calling shikigami and while she was disinclined to liking the name, she begrudgingly allowed it to stick. Likewise to her former application, these are mediums which are less single usage techniques and created with a single purpose in mind such as using insects for setting up information networks, animals or even empty shells of gigai supplied by Urahara to function as extra bodies to fulfil a task.

Karin-style; Physiology of Boundary Construction: Using her mediums as markers, she is able to define areas with these landmarks. Anchoring and establishing an area that is under her dominion, though it functions most similarly to an area where she has the ability to influence the "soul" of matter making it most resemblant to the phemonenon of fullbring. She is able to warp the environment in ways that does not physically correlate - the cement that building is made of bends because I want it to bend - or something to that effect she would say due to not caring for all the technical jargon. Powerful as it is to invoke effects such as making objects abide by her own will, Karin's ability requires focus and so for a large area to be controlled is difficult and nigh impossible if she is directly engaged in a fight. It is something she could only utilise effectively if she was undisturbed or controlling the flow of a fight from afar.

Additionally, controlling the environment does not mean she can alter it drastically. She could not suddenly make a marble into the size of a large boulder since there is not available appropriate mass to facilitate it unless she happened to have enough marbles to all merge into one of that scale, again impractical.

Karin-style; Reinforcement of Material Attributes: The ability to alter already existing material as a medium, this primarily falls under her ability to augment attributes of objects such as increasing technical attributes such as weight and density, inducing motion such as increasing the velocity of said object or even broad attributes such as increasing an individual's capacity such as strength, speed or durability. Her power is primarily supportive in this sense as she is giving up her own energy to empower others, or other objects. At times she may utilise this to increase her strength to produce greater shockwaves upon strikes, brief bouts of speed or harden parts of her body against damage but it all comes down to her own anticipation and ability to predict since prior preparation is needed to make this happen.

Ugh. It was one of those days again, a mild headache and knocking back some pills to help settle it. She hated mornings, the way the sunlight got through those cracks in the curtain at just the right angle to strike your eyes. After a quick drink and glancing at the time to check just what time it was she got up and pulled on a gown to look appropriate.

0630.

Just enough time to get a coffee into her system and begin cooking breakfast, it was habit by this point. A methodical process ingrained in her muscle memory. She'd wake her son up around 0700, get him dressed and fed and then off his way to school for the day. Despite being the most monotonous part of the day Karin couldn't deny that it the hour before she sent him away was the one that she felt the most satisfied and when she came back home.

Once he was gone it was her turn to get ready, another methodical process where she found herself spending less time in deep thought. It was just some time to relax while she could and not think about anything rather than pondering mysteries or life's great wonders. Maybe that was just something that she didn't get, sentiment wasn't her style. So once she was ready she looked at the toy on the table. It needed a few things fixed but nothing too exciting.

A quick job before she set off to go meet Urahara and get another brief on the events of the world. Let him have his fun and offer her work. It was nothing particularly special. Just another Monday, Mondays truly were the worst.
