A Time Of Trying [Calypso/Cyrus] Empty A Time Of Trying [Calypso/Cyrus]

ENTER THE DREAMER

Her eyes flickered open for what felt like the millionth time in this place.

The first few weeks were probably the hardest on her, unknown to any who were keeping watch of her - a tragedy had occurred. The first few times her eyes did nothing but stream with her ethereal tears, after a few days her eyes managed to stop leaking, but she still retained a heavy sadness to her. She was passed out for about two full days after the Jefferson catastrophe in order to recover, and once awake she was escorted off to this room, she believed it was some coastal city. She didn’t complain, whine, or even really say much - there was no use in it. She wanted to come peacefully, and peaceful she would be.

However she had to wait, for weeks she waited for someone, a chance to speak and tell her intent, her wishes. She didn’t mind, she didn’t even really need to bother anyone for anything - If she wanted to eat, she could just sleep. If she wanted to occupy herself, she would just wish for sheets of paper and a pencil and just drew. And drew. And drew. It was a steady task she could create limitless things out of and wouldn’t be perceived as dangerous, besides, she needed some way to process her grief during this time. She wasn’t the best artist, honestly she hadn’t really drawn much at all in her life, so many of them looked like poor attempts at say, animals or silly made-up things, almost childish, or fully abstract things that were hard to tell what they were, almost ominous in nature.

While she tried to keep them organized, at times she ended up with paper strewn across the floor, dated and signed. She didn’t really keep track of time, she just took this time to think about things.

Today, she was on the floor as usual, drawing some sort of cat-like creature, an assortment of colored pencils to her side. The last few pieces she decided she was good enough to try coloring them, and honestly was typically pretty happy with the result. It was enjoyable, and a good time-killer.

I wonder if they’re doing alright…

Her thoughts drew to the survivors of that catastrophe once again for perhaps the millionth time. Sensations of guilt twisted her gut - she felt she could have done more to pry those people out of that horrid gut, more to prevent demons like him from surfacing and going wild. More could have been done...

..Everyone, please be okay..

CYRUS

When it was a matter that only the Grandmaster could handle, then naturally Cyrus was completely willing to do so. Given his current health, there had been no small amount of effort on Ninsianna's behalf to try and go in his stead, but he would not allow it. There were some things that he would be outright ashamed not to handle himself, and meeting with those who had operated in Jefferson City, in light of the operation's unfortunate turn, was one of them.

That said, there was something of a secondary reason for his personal appearance. When there was one who requested his presence, particularly one that he felt had reason to seek it, Cyrus would always give it. He was a busy man, and he certainly did not move as quickly as he had prior, but he did at last arrange for this meeting. He would have gone to fetch the woman herself, but walking any more than necessary was asking a bit much of his body. Cyrus instead simply sat at a small glass table, a cup of tea in hand as he looked over the ocean, and waited as one of his Sternritter went and summoned Calypso with only a few curt words;

"The Grandmaster will see you now. Outside."

She was finishing up her drawing before a voice called her attention, that the Grandmaster was ready to see her. She firmly gripped her pencil, before wordlessly placing it down, nodding, and standing up. The walk from her room to her destination felt long as she only had her thoughts to speak to. She had no idea what this person would be like, what he even looked or sounded like.

Would he think that Jefferson was her fault, that she brought that demon there for some show?
Would the lost lives that she tried desperately to save on that horrible day be placed on her?
Would he blame her for their deaths?

Calm down, calm down, thinking about what ifs will just get me worked up; i'd end up looking even more guilty.

But the problem was that she DID feel guilty. She felt responsible for what happened - she didn't need to feel the distrust and fear of others to come to that. Even if that was an irrational thought, she couldn't help but think that if she had done more at some level, they didn't have to die. None of them deserved to die, no matter how much they probably hate her for existing, even if she knew they wouldn't have done the same for her if the situation were reversed. They only worked together because the situation required it.

She felt ill and tense, her face somewhat paled as she was then standing not too far away from him - Cyrus, Grandmaster of the Vandenreich; a man peacefully sitting at a glass table, enjoying a cup of tea. She absolutely refused to allow any outward expression of emotion to show, though she looked somewhat tense in contrast with his calmer demeanor, quietly forcing herself to appear equally as calm with every moment that passed,

"Hello, sir," She'd speak, her voice soft and unassuming as the sensation of sickness twisted at her heart, "Apologizes if I kept you waiting."
