A Howlin Good Time [Lily/
Sat Sep 04, 2021 10:43 am
The distant groan of hollows caught the Arrancar's attention for just a moment as she looked o ver her shoulder, hands in the pockets as she took just a moment to gauge how far away they were. IT was always so strange to FEEL the living population react to them. That mass spiritual awareness. She let out a noise, glancing to the side as she opened her palm, a tongue of blue flames peeling it's way from her palm before promptly reforming into a wolf at her side and was soon followed by three more, a small pack beginning to sniff around before they raced off in the direction of the hollows.
The Ex-Espada herself took a seat on the roof of the building and watched as her pack closed in on them. There was a soft, dull BOOM in the distance as one of the wolves exploded above the city itself, catching the hollows before they could descend upon the city below. All the while, she kept her pesquisa open, feeling around for any souls that were stronger than the rest. Strength. That was what she figured would be the easiest way to find more members for her pack. It was what had isolated her and Starrk after all. And well, if she could fuck up a few hollows that were letting their guard down, all the better use of her time.

Solhammond Palliser | THE MOON CUTTER
It was hard maintaining the façade, the exterior everything was alright when in fact it was not. Solhammond Palliser, otherwise known as Sol, was tasked with Earth Affiliation which usually meant going on a deployment to a area on Earth and acting as the guardian over said places. Some areas where known to be more dangerous than the others, where it was near promised to have a combat encounter. Naturally, he requested such spots. Publically it was under the guise of needing more experience, in reality, it was a distraction.
There was a certain level of trueness which came with risking one's life. To lay bare everything they where to triumph, or fail with sufficient grace. No doubt something which was instilled by his culture, but also a coping mechanism for a far darker side to himself. If he could ignore the weight on his shoulders, than he could ignore the dull pain he felt in the pit of his stomach.
Tonight he found combat, a nasty hollow infested night.
He stepped backwards as his foot slammed into the concrete beneath him, his arms raised in a loose fighter's stance. His core would lean backwards as a humanoid hollow sought to claw his face missing by a narrow margin. Despite such a close miss, Sol for any observer looked to be in his element. In return for such a swipe his left hand would close into a tight fist, before throwing a single sharp hook into the hollow's body with his left hand, while taking a step to the left leaning forward to fix his posture. As the beast recoiled from the hit, another left hand would fly towards their body again before followed up with a powerful right uppercut.
A combo done a thousand times against human and monster. Equally effective on each from the supernatural strength and speed the former human had.
His left hand would shoot outwards to the exposed chin of the Hollow, callous fingers extended before he grasped the mask of the creature. In one smooth motion he'd force their mask towards the earth as a sickening crack echo'd before the wet sound of gore being splattered was heard. In no time the Hollow would be dissolving, as Sol slowly lifted himself from a knee. He felt no excitement in this today, no joy. Instead, on his weary face was that of someone wholly disinterested.
His eyes closed briefly, his shoulders raising, before he finally sighed raising his head towards the sky. His shoulders dropping as the Hollow presence in the area decreased. The tattoo'd male merely standing there for a moment as if trying to summon the willpower to press one, a hand coming to run through his hair as his eyes opened. Surprisingly, in the distance upon a rooftop he saw another person. Provided they where not masking their spiritual pressure too much, someone clearly of Hollow origin and at least as strong as him- if not stronger.
This was exhausting.

A pause. She noticed that some o those nearby had responded. Not just a shinigami, but several humans and others were also engaging with the hollows around the area, even as her wolves fanned out and began to tear into them. Interrupting fights, even shoving some of the other combatants aside in order to tear into the hollows with tooth and claw. Some fell to the humans, many fell to her wolves. However, she was surprised when she sensed something much more peculiar.
A Shinigami? But it was not accompanied by the rise in spiritual pressure that came with the use of a zanpaku'to. And when she glanced in their direction, Lilynette paused when the sight of the man looking in her direction caught her eye. A smirk forming on the arrancar's face as more tongues of flame peeled from her body, forming more and more of those burning blue hounds at her side, nothing agressive, just insurance as the new additions to the pack sat on their haunches in mid air.
She looked him up and down for just a moment. Had he been fighting hollows barehanded?
"Not the best idea to go bare-knuckling hollows like that, ya know. Some of them have some real nasty abilities. Acid for blood. Paralyzing gas. Always figured shinigami were the careful type." She narrowed her good eye as she peered at the man before her, slowly standing up and putting a hand on her hip. She smiled, reaching up and gently tapping the mask fragment over her left eye, the rest of it having broken away over the years as she'd grown more and more stable.
Something about this shinigami was ...... off. They were usually so determined or lively. But the one standing in front of her almost looked dead on his feet. An empty, meaningless sort of hollow that she felt something of a familiarity with . Had she seen it before?
"Got a name there, droopy eyes?"

Solhammond Palliser | THE MOON CUTTER
They where talking to him before it was notably a female voice. So an Arrancar was hanging about, he guessed it was about a fifty percent chance they had something to do with this. Normally, it might be completely appriorate to assume they might intend him harm. It was either the nonchaliceness in which she spoke or simply his already exhausted state which compelled him to assume the opposite. Grey-green irises would squint as he attempted to get a decent look at them, before giving up entirely on the matter. Instead he'd simply drop the hand from his arm, offering a light shrug to the woman.
"I'm sure there's some kido-corps member or zanjutsu specialist around, but this is easier for me. Everyone has their preferences." His lackluster tenor would remark as he looked around, taking note of his surroundings. Despite his lax nature currently, for any observer with a measure of combat prowess there was a rigidity to him. His spiritual energy lacked definitely, yet, his body seemed coil tight. Lean muscle pulled over a tight and hardened frame, a trained and experienced fighter's gait.
His next look at her was a skeptical gaze side-eye, before finally going to take a seat on the floor. His hands pressed against the floor behind him. His head tilted backwards as he took a deep breath before sighing, his movements dolefully slow. "Solhammond Palliser. People call me Sol." He'd remark dryfully, a soft accent to his English. One might wager African of some variety.
"Are we gonna fight? As you can see, I'm shaking with anticipation."
He was, in fact, not shaking with anticipation.

Her eyes shifted away from him only briefly as she made note of the other situations going on in the area. Even as she listened to him talk, her mind was split slightly, as the situation progressed off in the distance. Her pack was finishing up on mopping up the remaining Hollows. A few ....incidents, as some of the more anxious humans chose to attack the wolves out of fear, but their flame-like forms simply reformed or briefly dispersed only to remake themselves in a slightly different location. Abstaining from any sort of retaliation to boot. It wasn't long before the area was clear, and her pack was starting to reconvene to where she was.
"It'd be a lot less easy if you fought something that had more dangerous fists than you. What Squad are you from, who is your Captain?" She responded with just the slightest bit of disappointment and mild Karen in her voice as she folded her arms, mild irritation showing on her expression! The nerve of this guy! But still, she did notice some....strangely familiar things about him. She took a few steps toward him, moving away from her pack to do so.
"Not here to fight punks like you, Sol. I came here to clean up the hollows, which I have." She noted with something of a smug smirk, glancing off in the distance, those small rifts all over the place were already closing up, and the pack was finally arriving, her entire entourage about nine or ten wolves strong, whom she promptly began petting along the ears. "Because you guys are good girls! Yes you are~" She praised the wolves, their tails wagging in response to her words before Lily then turned her attention back to the man, grinning. "Kinda surprised. Didn't know the Gotei was doing so bad they can't afford antidepressants. Hmmmmmm. But you know what'll turn that frown upside down?" She asked slyly before holding her hands up. A little tongue of flame peeling between them before promptly growing into a little wolf pup! Then offering it to the man, its tail began wagging excitedly and it seemed excited. "This is a super rare offer! But I will let you play with one of the pups!" She grinned.
IT was a sure thing! After all, humans loved the little things, well usually. And Shinigami always had a werird humanity to their actions most times. It seemed a fair shot that perhaps the sight of a little reishi puppy might get the guy to at LEAST break a smile.

"I welcome the challenge."
His head would roll to the side as he said it, giving her a sideways glance. Despite his sorry state, the lazy way in which he spoke, his voice sharpened a bit. As if what he was saying wasn't merely false bravado, but a genuine belief. He didn't know who exactly this woman was, or who they thought they where, but he wasn't quite partial to being lectured. Granted, most of that was just general irritability. He was silent for a bit, before sighing loudly bringing a hand to rub his head. His mother would kill him if she saw him being this way, again.
"Sorry. Just a shitty-" He'd pause looking for the timeframe to use, before finally saying; "Year for me." He'd tack on as he slowly began to get to his feet. Mostly because talking upwards to her was weird. Now that they stood in front of each other, Sol was just a little over six-feet tall. "Thanks, for the hollows. I'm sure the people of the area appreciated the help." He was at the very least making the effort to appear sociable, he was taught his manners as a child after all.
"I'm with Earth Affiliation, under Captain Murasaki. Kinda. I'm in a weird situation." He wouldn't say further on that topic, or at least didn't get to as the conversation progressed quickly. In a few moments he was offered what was essentially a wolf pup, made from her energy? He assumed so. The entire display actually did cause a smile to spread onto his lips, a light laugh leaving his lips. His shoulders raising and lowering with each laugh before extending callous fingers to take the pup by his under arms.
His grey-green irises would stare into the own eyes of the pup, a small smile on his lip. Despite the first impressions there was a genuine warmth in the eyes of the young man. There was a youth to his features, not that of a shinigami decades old. No, he was definitely someone who recently turned. Whatever he was thinking, it was fond enough to keep a smile on his face.
"Nana, and Yu, would love you." He'd remark quietly his smile twitching ever so much lessening just a bit, before remembering just where he was- and who he was with. He'd clear his throat, peering at her past the pup.
"You know my name, you should probably share your own."

TCH! ONe of those! Almost immediately she wondered if perhaps she had made a mistake.... after all THOSe types could be a lot of trouble. But she reserved judgement, listening as he explained. Earth Affiliation? Didn't the squads usually just go by number? "Is that so? I suppose that's to be expected given yourrrrrrrrrrr, mood." She murmured.
All the same, seeing that face light up in response to the puppy had her smirking proudly, and once he accepted the pup she put on a pleased smile, puffing her chest out a little and leaning to the side as he seemed to enjoy the little thing, which promptly began sniffing him and trying to lick his hands. HAH! She knew that she still had it! Number one arrancar capable of breaking guards! All the same, she was intrigued to hear those names. Not that she actually recognized them, but it told her that this man had, at one time, ones precious to him! Was he also someone who had lost someone? She rubbed her chin slightly.
"I think you would have gotten along well with Starrk now that I think about it.... AH! My name!" She then remembered, promptly raising herself up to her full height and thumping her chest with her fist. "My name is Lilynette Gingerbuck~ Former Primera Espada." She proclaimed proudly, before ....clearing her throat and looking off to the side. "Although these days I am just Lilynette. Cleaner of other arrancar's messes apparently." She murmured in slight annoyance. She had learned quite a few distressing things from the arrancar in hueco mundo about some of the things that had happened in her absence. Particularly that whole shadowfall nonsense.
A beat.
She smiled. "I was a little surprised to see you Gotei still on earth. I would have thought you would lose interest with the humans gaining so much power. Why.......ARE the humans suddenly so strong and aware?" She asked with a slight frown. Spiritually aware humans used to be rare after all, but now they seemed to be in the majority.

He'd transition the pull to where they where cradled in his inked arms. He made no movements to actually stop them from licking his hand other than bringing a hand to slowly run it down their head and back. As she spoke he listened quietly, his brow furrowing the more she spoke. It seemed like she was some boomer arrancar whom only recently had gotten to the world. Made sense, there was plenty reports of older things coming to the world in recent years. Between everything in the news, you'd think that there was some weird tidings in the world.
"Well.. nice to meet you I guess." He'd comment showing no real concern with the title of Primera Espada. He knew that they where at one point something big in Hueco Mundo, and Shadow fall, but with everything happening he barely understood it all. Didn't help that he was still new to this whole gig. He'd stare down at the pup for a moment then back to her.
"To be fair, last year I was a human." He'd admit, before shrugging. "It's a long story, but I'm surprised you don't know. The too long, didn't read, is cause of all the massive conflicts the past four centuries and the growth of spiritual energy as a whole- people started evolving. I was one of them." He'd chuckle idly moving his hand to let the pup lick at it, having stopped petting them.
"You.. probably have a lot to catch up on if you didn't know that. I'm not well-versed in all of it. I sorta got thrusted into this. An over zealous friend of mine thought it's be a great idea to do the whole 'stab you with a zanpakatou' to get stronger- which I didn't ask for mind you- I just asked for a little training!" His voice raising steadily as he recalled the admittedly annoying situation. "And she fucked it up, killed me." He'd remark almost to himself, flabbergasted at even remembering the situation looking down at the pup. A pause happened as he took a breath calming himself.
"I'm only slightly more knowledgeable than you, Lilynette. I'm technically on a provisional member of the Gotei. I take night classes. At the academy." He gave her a blank faced stare.
"Anything else I can help you with? You did just clear up my work, for the.. night at least." He'd look around, mentally noting that she probably just made this entire deployment null.

Lilynette paused, furrowing her brows. Fuck, that war shit must have done a real number on things. She folded her arms, seeming a bit lost in thought as he idly played with the pup, the energetic little thing all too happy to lick his hand and enjoy being pet. The other wolves slowly faded, being reabsorbed into Lily's body as she seemed to contemplate the situation. So there was a boom in human strength because of all of the conflict. That made sense to be sure. Not only that but it seemed to cause a LOT of changes in how Gotei operated. For one they had once almost executed a noble for transferring their powers to a human, but now it seemed like it was so common that it was done haphazardly.
"I see. And are ya happy as a shinigami?" She asked with a slightly raised brow, tilting her head as she looked up at him, dhskinh her head a bit as she reached up and began tying her hair up into a ponytail. "Ya seem kinda miserable, and I'm kinda surprised you threw yer lot in with them after one of them apparently killed ya. Not that it's any a my business." She furrowed her brows, thinking. Hmmmm. On one hand, he was a member of the Gotei. On the other.... " How does soul society feel about arrancar these days? And is there any way to get like ... a pass to go see Soul Society? There's this real old guy I need to see. A captain. Though I dunno if he even still IS one...." She murmured, it had been quite a while. Did Captains retire?

"The Gotei, shinigami, are not even near the top of the list for my problems." He'd mutter before offering a shrug. "And it wasn't.. I wouldn't exactly call Masami one of the Gotei's. It's.. another long story." He'd just place a pin in that one as well, not wanting to reveal even more personal details to what was essentially a total stranger. He already felt like he overshared, before furrowing his brow at what she said. He was quiet for a moment as he thought about how to answer her question.
"It's.. mixed reactions I'd think. I don't think your kill on sight, if that's what you're afraid about. If you managed to get there.. I guess don't be waving around your powers or reiatsu levels. That might get you jammed up with the Gotei, and the Police." He'd comment before shifting his weight. He looked her over once as she placed her hair into a pony tail. "I could go out on a limb for you. Introduce you to my captain. She might be able to help. She's.. approachable. If the guy you're looking for is, or was, a captain she'd be the only person I'd comfortable refer you to."
Sol at this point would give a strained smile to her, apologetic in nature. He seemed to be willing to help her, for whatever reason. In his eyes, he owe'd her one. Another part of him did not want to let go of the wolf pup. They where very cute.
"But I'm still deployed here for a week, so, I can't make introductions immediately. If that's, something you want."
