Aberration Inbound [The Depths Stir - DIRECT CONFRONTATION THREAD]
Fri Jan 29, 2021 9:29 am
Darkness and chill.
Freezing daggers of rain hailed from the winter sky as thick dark clouds blotted out any light given off from the moon and stars. The seafront was barren of water, not a drop left behind as the harsh rain littered the wet sands, the settling fog only adding to the low visibility. The only things giving off any manner of light were nearby cities, and even then they only appeared to be faint glows upon a dark grey canvas, mere hints being the only thing verifying their place.
The winds would batter down on any who were out to experience it, appearing to carry the howls and cries of the lost, cruelly ripping at any who lay subject to them. The rain battered down as it had hours before, flashes of lightning occasionally lighting the sky.
Any witnessing the sea’s unusually recession, particularly those of curious nature who think it wise to go out and see where the water had gone, would soon be faced with an eerie sight.
Far off in the murky horizon, a strange shape would form. With how treacherous the night has been, it may be difficult to tell what it is initially, but a careful eye would soon come to realize the shocking truth:
A massive wall of water, several meters high, far larger than any recorded wave, coming directly towards land. It shimmered with an unfamiliar energy, merely adding to the unknown and terror of such a sight. It’s movements were almost guided, like something was holding so much water at bay, merely to let it loose once they travelled a certain point. The sea wall would slowly get larger and larger from any on shore’s perspective, anyone with the ability to sense energy or possessing a device would surely know that whatever was coming their way, it was big.
Occasionally, an eerie noise could be heard coming closer, and closer… A low, bellowing groan. It sounds like nothing of this life… Nothing to the imagination… Merely, sinking terror to accompany the catastrophe which soon would touch land…
