Re: Roaring Seas [The Depths Stir - CITY ATTACK THREAD]

PREPARE TO ENTER THE VIZARD'S POST
Guard Against the Rain
The Shinigami nodded once to himself as the holy flames slammed into his watery attacker, causing most of its trunk to evaporate in a loud explosion of steam. Laskt allowed the fierce rush of adrenaline to flow through his veins, even as he rapidly attempted to withdraw from the area. The situation was still confusing and alien, but at least he could hurt his unusual attackers.
Unfortunately, he seemed to have tempted fate a little too arrogantly. With the lightning reflexes of a trained soldier, Laskt threw together a rough platform of Reiatsu in midair, launching himself to the side with a heavy kick. Despite his instinctive dodge, the watery tentacle still nearly clipped him, dissolving only moments before it would have sent him crashing to the ground. The Vizard swore again, using a Shunpo to reposition himself on to of a nearby skyscraper already half-drowned by the rising waters. The situation only grew more dire by the moment, especially since he couldn't even be sure that any of his attacks would even put down the strange appendages. He would need to intensify his next attack: see if complete disintegration prevented regneration.
The knight's compatriots seemed to be faring little better, as neither of the girl's attacks seemed to be much more successful than his own. He did, however, note the blue-hued arrows the blonde fired, filing the information away to be processed at a later date. These monsters did not appear to be Hollows, so the Quincy's misguided methods mattered little.
The activity of the whale-like creature seemed to have redoubled the activity of whatever entity controlled the strange rain, causing the ambient energy in the newly formed sea to spike dramatically. Newly formed tendrils erupted from the waters, most of them seemingly targeting themselves at him as they sliced through the air. Laskt settled himself into the opening stance of Shigure Shinrin Ryu, his eyes determined. If he could just keep the sea's attention on him while the others provided fire support, perhaps this situation could be salvaged after all.
A dodge left, and a heavy two-handed cut to the side incapacitated the first tentacle, while a devastating backhand cut a second in twain. The Shinigami's body was a blur of motion, the blade in his hand a barely visible flicker upon the air as he fought for his life against his unorthodox attackers. However, similarly to the original tentacle, whatever damage he inflicted upon them healed in short order, leaving them as good as new as they came in for another attack.
It was a small miscalculation: a misjudgment of mere inches. A tenacle snaked through the swordsman's defenses, slamming into his chest and sending his Zanpaktou spinning out of his hand, lodging it in a nearby building. A second tenable erupted from below the concrete rooftop, sending an injured Laskt spinning uncontrollably into the air.
With the athleticism of a trained warrior, Laskt reoriented himself in the air, slamming his hand onto the thin air as he formed footholds with which to brake himself. The building below him collapsed as the tendrils shot after the airborne warrior, seeking to crush him like a bug in their grip. Lacking access to his Zanpaktou, there was only one thing Laskt could think to do. He had a whole library's worth of doubts, but he had promised Yoshitsune he would at least try. It was time to see if those doubts....were truly justified
You have been living in my mind for ten centuries Tozat. I zink it is time you start earning your keep.
He inhaled deeply, stilling his mind and raising a trembling hand. Laskt could feel the currents of Hollow energy flowing through him like scum in a stream, their very existence pounding at his sanity. The Vizard, however, did not retreat this time, instead seizing upon the corruption, subduing it, bending it to his will. It was HIS energy, and it would follow HIS direction.
Laskt eyes snapped open as the power of a Hollow erupted from his finger tips, a harsh thrumming sound piercing through the pounding rain. The purplish-black Cero exploded forward, slamming into the two tentacles and the building beneath them before detonating in the waters below. If there was no interference, the building would be leveled in its entirety, the water around it vaporizing under the torrent of energy....
