Feel like Christmas
Fri Dec 25, 2020 4:45 am
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! she cried it sounded like a cry, albeit one dressed up as the horror movie version.
"Hey! Shut the fuck up. Its still midnight!"
My bad!
Yoriko waited fir the snow to cover the place in blankets of snow. Waking up and putting on her festive clothes as she brought treats and other festivities everyone has on this Christmas day. Cookies, cards, weird sweaters you'll only wear once every year. The whole works,
The light from the glowing candles almost resembles hovering auric orbs in the pitch dark. "If God is love, then Christmas is too. she needed to stop drowning in all this commercial stuff. But how could she resist!
She figured Jaeden was busy, perhaps she could send him a card. Maybe Hanako would come, however she didn't know where she was nor lived. So she waited amongst the marketplace where they bought gifts or buying snow apparel.
Hankako too can be a christmas pudding this year, just consume all these fatty sweet treats and tell herself that one love ruining their body. What a treat! Then one can buy an exercise machine in the sales that will both gather dust and take up space in their home as it remains utterly idle. Or, once could have a good meal on the 25th with their favourite dessert and go for some nice walks, runs or bike rides over the holidays.
So she waited..

The Big Woman
Clad in a nice, thick winters coat, hands in the pockets, Hanako walked towards the market. This time of the year always irritated her. Everyone seemed so cheery and happy and...she didn't really know what to do with all of that. Not that she would have had anything against participating, but until now her role has been that of an observer.
Strolling over the market, Hana mainly looked at the food stands. Her pantry was getting a bit empty and with her relatively newfound interest in cooking, she had set out to stock up. She realised that she had become a lot more picky than before. Just a year ago she couldn't care less about what she shoveled in her face. Now she really thought about what she could cook with this vegetable, or how that meat would taste like if…
She was so deep in thought that she only saw Yoriko after she almost bumped into her.
"Oh, hello, Yoriko. Sorry, my mind was elsewhere. How are things? Had a chance to put Jaeden's training to good use?"
Smalltalk was quite the untrained skill in Hanako. Yet she tried every now and then, now that she really had some people she actually got along with just fine. Some of them she even called friends.
She took a step back and looked at Yoriko. Something about her was different than the last time they met.
"Are you grocery shopping, too?" Hanako asked, but it didn't sound very sure.

Turning her head she saw Hanako. In some very comfortable fits for this time of year, looked very nice. Hers was a bit more slim-fit but decent enough.
Hey Hanako, Merry Christmas. she smiled.
Things been going good actually. was a cliche response but an honest one at that. The training she's received from Jaeden and utilizing them to the best of her abilities were...very slow.
She was actually doing the opposite, but the excuse of it being Christmas isn't a good one.

"Not really grocery shopping, just finding Jarden a Christmas card is all. Yoriko said, as the sound of footsteps loud, spirited laughter of adults and children could be heard over the continuous chatter surrounding the vivacious atmosphere.
They waved at the two "Merry Christmas"
Of course Yoriko responded with vigor.
"Merry christmas to you too. Yoriko smiled at the family as they passed by, gifts on their arms and shoulders. Some varying in sizes, even the children were helping as well. Nice to see people like this.

"A christmas card?" Hanako asked. She's never written anyone a card, no matter the occasion. Never had anyone to write to.
"I was thinking about what meals I want to cook." She said, a bit awkward, because she didn't know what else to say in that moment.
A family walked by, waved and wished a merry christmas, to which Yoriko answered likewise and with pep. She seemed to be really into this. Hanako had always tried to, more or less, steer clear of all the hustle and bustle. It all seemed a bit much.
"Yoriko…" she said, following a sudden impulse.
"You seem to like all this christmas. What do you do for christmas. What's it all about? I never celebrated it."
Or any other holiday, she added in her thoughts. She couldn't remember having ever celebrated anything, although that of course didn't mean much in her case. She didn't even celebrate her birthday, because then she'd first have to find out when that was. The only thing she did since recently was to visit her Inner World and sit on the back porch with the spirit, drink tea and stare into the mist. Also ever since then she heard him whisper. No intelligible words, but she had realised that she had heard him far longer than that, just chose to ignore it. So you could say the day she first met him was a day she'd celebrate from now on.

"Cook huh?" Yoriko chuckled. Although Hanako was right, what can go wrong with a christmas turkey once in awhile.
"Well food is part of the holiday. Can't celebrate christmas on an empty stomach."
Yoriko looked back at Hanako who looked embarrassed as they walked by. Something wasn't right, seemed a bit confused about what happened. Her voice explained the whole holiday thing, too which she responded with a pat on her back if allowed if course.
"Well Hanako its time to explain christmas. In song! Okay I'm just joking about that. Follow me."Yoriko would motion the girl to follow, going through the
stealth division and realm enforcement to pass the time.
"Anyways, christmas is a holiday many would consider magical. Apparently it's to celebrate some dead guy..think he's called Jesus."Turning around placing a finger on her chin. Guess humans had weird traditions in the world, though her home country couldn't be an exception.
Even she didn't understand the whole dead guy thing, but if u have a holiday about the dead it seemed like the least strange thing in the world. Talking about Mexico of course.
"I'm not sure about the whole history but one things for sure its memorable. In easier terms, its about giving towards those less fortunate, be with family."
"Like that family we saw earlier. They bought those gifts to probably give to a local charity or give to family members. Sure many not like the gifts but its the thought that counts. One last thing, we celebrate a guy name Santa. He's a big chubby guy who rides a sleigh believed to have powers, all the children wait for him to bring presents underneath their trees. "

The Big Woman
Hanako was looking at Yoriko with an expression of growing confusion. A dead guy? Family? Gifts? A fat guy? Children and trees?
Giving towards the less fortunate was something she did understand, though. But the rest…
"You lost me completely."
She shrugged apologetically.
"I don't have a family to celebrate with. So...you say it is about a fat man called Jessy or Santana, who is dead but still gives gifts and trees to children and those less fortunate and has powers? It sounds...complicated."
While they talked they walked more or less aimlessly. Hanako thought about the past years. For almost a decade, she had more or less ignored such festivities, had enjoyed the quiet time with nonone bothering her. Quiet times were a rare commodity in the Seireitei. But things had changed. Hanako had changed.
"What...what do you do on christmas?" She asked after a while.
"I have recently learned how to cook...I mean really cook, not just heat up food from the convenience store or leftovers from the mess hall. But I never cooked for anyone else. You said food also belongs to christmas…"
