Eyes On You [INAMI/ARIES]
Thu Aug 06, 2020 9:29 pm
Aries was having a good day. Paris was nice, much to her surprise. She had thought up to this point that most major cities on Earth were actually just secretly shitholes. Absolute messes full of filthy, arrogant folk, annoying tourists, and those too unfortunate to move somewhere less stressful. But no, Paris was thankfully much nicer than that. All she had to do was just focus on sightseeing and not the locals. But of course, Aries' mind suddenly shifted gears as her skin started to feel like it was being pricked by a thousand little needles. Someone strange was nearby, and what was this? Some kind of... demon? And a different one than the ones she had felt before. Just feeling this sensation prick at her skin and invade her senses reminded the woman that she did need to research demon magic. The knowledge would be useful, and perhaps some knowledge of other, more personal demon matters as well. | Aries, the Manifested Self |
Aries' hypersensitivity to anything spiritual is what let her find and locate Inami without problem, albeit it was a bit of a walk. The normally bitter woman laid eyes upon her target and started to follow her. For a good, long while, too. Aries didn't really try and hide it. There was no reason when she was likely to get caught and confronted after a while anyways. So instead she just let Inami figure it out on her own. For the meantime, Aries just tracked her from a distance and watched the woman's every move. Any suspicious or strange little trick the woman might have made would get committed to memory, but Aries knew she was just being hopeful. Still, it was worth a shot, right? And she had already been through most of Paris over the last few days. It was a reasonable attempt, at the very least. Now to see if it would pay off...

”It’s not every day that someone stalks a demon queen…”
The thought slid languidly through Inami’s mind as her heterochromia stared forward. Glancing at the people that were here, moving too and fro, living out insignificant lives in their significant selves. People on phones yelling at people on the other side of the line, bicyclists weaving through the throng of bodies, or even the children who flocked to the gelato vendor on the corner. All of them had lives, aimless and fleeting they may be, and honestly? Inami envied them.
”I need to live more honestly with myself.”
Inami sighed softly as she turned to walk down an alleyway, her stalker in tow. She waited until she was away from the humans that bustled on the main cobbled streetway before her body vanished like smoke into one of the yawning shadows cast by the sun.
”Did you have fun following me poppet?”
Inami’s voice lacked the mirth that it normally would have. Her eyes still had a lingering predatory air though, after all-- that was something ingrained into her very genes. The luminosity of her eyes contrasted with the shadows that stretched behind the woman who had followed her. Inami had appeared behind her, the queen's words causing tendrils of smog to smoke past the woman's shoulder like black, petulant mist.
”Or.. Do you have something you desire?”
Normally, Inami would have terrorized the girl, trying to use her fear to fill the yawning hole within herself. Now though.. She felt that this might be a chance to change. To show that she could become a woman capable of mending the wounds that she had caused. This girl may be insignificant before her eyes; an ant that could be snuffed out and scattered like ash in the wind, but, this encounter also symbolized something in the eyes of the queen. She could listen to her emotions, rather than bottle them up. It was those emotions that drove her to ask the purpose behind this woman’s snoopings.
That was why, when Inami spoke those words, they came out with a worn empathy. They were far less cold, and far less terrifying than the words that had preceded them. The queen took a few steps forward, no longer blocking the woman in. She’d then turn around, facing the stranger, arching a brow faintly as if to say ’well, I’m waiting for an answer.’. Her lips curving into the faintest of grins, just enough to show a glimpse of the serrated teeth that lay behind her full lips.
”Foolishness and naivety.. Is a form of luck is it not?”
Inami thought faintly, as she committed the woman's visage to memory. The memory of the last woman who snuck up on her.. Mirja Eola was fresh in her mind. Not even a year ago, she would have crippled the woman for following her, or driven her insane with the very thing she wanted. Now though, she wanted to reward this stranger for their courage, she was tired of taking. She wished to be more than a destroyer of lives, and this, this was a chance was it not?
A chance to change.

It was clear as the skies were that Aries was being lead into what could very well be a trap. The demoness had walked into an alleyway suddenly with no warning, so unless she had some knowledge of these streets then it was likely that it would be a trap that ended with her life being stolen. And yet Aries didn't seem to care all that much. Even despite her newly found individuality and freshly created body, Aries followed the demoness without much of a care for her own safety. At the very least, she would die and just have to create another body. The pink-haired woman looked extremely unenthused as she found the alleyway suddenly empty. If it weren't for her natural attunement to all things spiritual, she would have thought the woman to have simply ditched her. But no, Inami was suddenly behind her and ominously trailing shadowy smoke over her stalker's shoulders. Was this supposed to be ominous? Aries wondered that to herself as she casually turned around to face this mysterious demon visitor. | Aries, the Manifested Self |
Aries didn't look impressive by any means. She was just a woman in a turtleneck sweater, jeans, and high heels. There was nothing unique about her appearance, nor did anything about her stick out spiritually. She would just seem like a completely normal woman, and that was Aries' intention.
Yet at the same time, the shadowy tendrils of smoke wouldn't touch Aries unless Inami forced them to. The stalker's pink hair, tied into a ponytail so it avoided her face, blew in a light breeze- but wait, there hadn't been any wind just a moment ago. The tendrils of smog would be gently blown to either side of Aries, but not forward or behind her. It was as if the air itself was prying the smog away from the woman, yet her spiritual energies made no indication that she was the one causing this.
"You don't scare me, demon." Aries said flatly, tapping her heel on the pavement and crossing her arms underneath her bosom. "I came to observe, nothing else. To see if you would use that demon magic of yours so that I may study it, and to discern your presence here on Earth. Did your kind not retreat back to your realm, or is there something I'm missing?"
Aries was out of the loop on the aftereffects of the war, but she was certain that demons on earth were a lot more scarce now. Why a demon like Inami hadn't gone back with her kind was beyond Aries, especially since in not doing so, she was out of place now more than ever. Perhaps it was always like that for the ice cream colored gal, but Aries would still think that being in the company of others like her would be preferable than on a world where her kind was not welcome any longer. Getting a proper answer to her theories was part of the reason that she had been stalking Inami in the first place.
Aries raised an eyebrow of her own and stared down at the girl as she too expected answers. Even as she saw those teeth among Inami's grin and understood that perhaps the girl was strong enough to end her on a whim, she didn't care all that much. It wasn't anything new.

Inami’s eyes glittered, mirth was replaced with interest. This bubble-gum haired lass, looked so ordinary-- from the tips of her jeans, to the plain turtle-neck sweater she wore. To the average passerby she might even look like a regular teenage lass. Still though, from the moment these words slipped forth from this lady’s lips: ’You don’t scare me demon’ Inami couldn’t help it that the smile on her face grew a little bit wider. For many, this might be a warning flag; a sign that things were about to take a turn for the worse-- if inami was the same as her past self that was. Right now though? This single, weak, average girl had earned something from the queen. She had earned interest, but that wasn’t the most important thing that she had gained from those words, no, that was respect.
Inami respected that this girl could live so honestly to her own convictions and worldview. Not many would be able to say that to a being so vastly strong than they themselves were; Many would run or be afraid. Inami had seen many beings on earth, but none of them had simply said those words. Some alluded to it, when they had the strength to back it up of course, but none had challenged her so openly before.
”What kind of life has she led, that she can speak so candidly?”
The queen of chaya wondered to herself faintly, arching a brow slightly towards the pink-haired lass. Her lips parting faintly, smoke billowing forth from her lips as she gathered her own thoughts. Oh how she wanted to see just how far the truth to those words went. For now though, she felt it was only kind to honor such candidacy with some sobering honesty. Would she stand firm in those convictions when she figured out what kind of predator she had unintentionally garnered interest from?
” Ah, yes, demons have receded from the world as of late.”
Inami shrugged faintly, her eyes glancing down as she turned over her right hand and curled her fingers into her palm--studying her nails, while keeping the peripheral of her gaze upon the lady in the turtleneck. She listened to the rest of what she was here for; learning about demon magic so that she could better discern demons. Once she finished speaking her piece though, Inami would continue with what she had been saying prior.
”That was mostly my decision though--the demons leaving that is.”
Inami grinned faintly, but vividly, each and every one of her lovely little white pointy teeth showcased. Practically cherubic on her little moon-kissed demonic face. A little tittering noise that could be mistaken for a giggle bubbling forth for a moment as she raised her hand to obscure her razor sharp teeth and tawny lips.
”My dearest sister Mana wanted to slug it out with you till the end y’know.”
Once inami let that little bit of info drop, she walked a few steps to the left, turning around to learn against the alley-way wall. The grime and dirt smearing the fancy white blouse she wore. Her black skirt hiked up just enough to show a bit of her milky white thighs. She shook her head faintly as she crossed her arms over one another beneath her cleavage. Eventually though, Inami’s heterochromia opened once more and glanced at the lass.
”A vast majority of us left yes, but some of us like this planet. Despite the politics that surround demon hierarchy, some of us view this planet as beautiful. I however, am a bit of an oddity no matter where I go. Do you think it odd? That i cherish what is different than I?”
Inami’s smile was wistful, and genuine as she stared up at the sliver of clouds that could be seen above, watching them float on by the backdrop of that deep, deep azure blue sky. Inami brought a finger to her pouty, smiling lips, tapping her left index finger against her lips as if she was mulling over the request that the lady had wanted from her: to learn demon magic.
”I could teach you. However there would be rules of course.”
Inami held up a hand and began to list them, holding up another finger with each rule she said.
”If i teach you, I want it to be clear that I care not if it’s used to root out demons who cause evil in this world, however.. If you use it to cause pain for those who have done nothing wrong, then I will track you down myself.”
Inami glanced at her faintly and shrugged.
”Thats rule one. Rule two is you need to tell me your name. Afterall, I need to know who i’m teaching right?”
Inami dropped her hand back to her side as she said faintly.
”Thats all, easy peasy right? It’s up to you!”

Of course she would get someone like this. Someone so into the unnecessary, the excess details, that having a conversation with them might as well have been getting a lecture about something you didn't ask for. Mana wanted to slug it out? Okay, sure. But that wasn't what happened. "Your idea?" Aries repeated quietly under her breath. Sure, but that didn't matter to the bubblegum haired woman. That wasn't what she came here to understand. Why this girl was here was what she wanted to understand, but even that came with some extra wordage that could have been done without. "I don't care about what you enjoy, girl." Aries said, her tone only displaying a hint of venom and no more. "What does it matter to you what I feel? Nothing. So don't ask me such stupid questions." The stalker turned to look at her little demon and eyed her up as she leaned against the wall. From top to bottom, she stood out quite a bit. But that didn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Her toothy grin that she was so adamant about flashing, the way she checked her nails, her heterochromia, all the way down to her outfit. It was all so out there in comparison to the average person. But none of it mattered to Aries, and it likely never would. | Aries, the Manifested Self |
"I don't want to learn how to use your magic." Aries corrected. "I want to observe it. Watch it. Learn how it is controlled and interacts with the world around you. I couldn't possibly care less about learning to use it myself."
Aries looked at the girl, her stern, focused expression never changing for a moment in response to anything that Inami did. The only time she moved was to turn and face her acquaintance when she went to dirty herself on the grimy alleyway walls. Why...? God, this girl was nothing but a nuisance to Aries already. Perhaps she could teach the girl to be more down to earth, but that would take time that she didn't currently care to spend catering to this girl outside of what she already planned.
"I'll leave the demons who have done nothing alone." Aries agreed, and suddenly her eyes would flash a sort of dangerous look straight into Inami's heterochromic gaze. "But I will kill them the moment they start to harm the Earth itself." And with a quick blink, the threat in the woman's eyes was gone all at once.
"Aries." She said shortly. "My name is Aries." But funnily enough, Aries didn't bother asking what her new acquaintance's name was. With the way she was looking so unemotionally down at the girl, it almost seemed like she didn't care at all. And truth be told, Aries actually didn't. To learn the name of a demon seemed... insulting to one's self. That was the easiest way for Aries to put it, at least in her own mind.
