Inami’s resolve only deepened as she looked at the pain that her youngest niece had to undergo. The amethyst heterochromia of her eyes flashing with hues of resplendent green as she let out a huff of blackened smog, which cascaded past her lips to disperse in the realm surrounding them. The glimmer of pain that adorned her nieces eyes.. It mirrored her own far too closely, it hit way too close for her. The pain caused by family, it was something she knew all too well. The scars that it left behind, were something almost impossible to bear on one's own.
Just Inhale.. It was a command that came automatically to the queen as she felt like jagged shards of glass were digging into her soul. As the white hot pangs of despair threatened to overwhelm her as she watched her own kin self-destructing as she once had. The powerlessness that stemmed from her inability once again to protect, the fact that she had not the power to do so. It caused the queen's aching heart to carve itself in two.
And Exhale.. Inami’s lips parted as resplendent tendrils of inky darkness escaped forth from her lips to spill into the world around them. Their undulating presence an extension of the queen's taint, her corruption. Her arms drew Calypso inward, her pale hands trembling slightly as she fought to maintain the calm that she had worked so hard to obtain.
“Is this what you wished for us, Deveta?” The thought was mocking as it crossed inami’s mind. Their omnipotent god had left a broken system that only left pain and suffering in its wake. Her niece had done no wrong, and yet here she was, barely keeping together the fragmented shards of her self, warring against emotions that no young being should have to undergo. The broken, battered pieces of her self only barely hanging on.
”Is this truly the world I wish to live in?” The thought spilled forth in her head as she gently wiped the tears from Calypso’s face, the corrosive tears sizzling against her pallid flesh as she leaned in softly to press her forehead against her nieces. Her body taking in the warmth of the one thing that would remain eternal to her--
her family. Feeling the heartbeat that thudded inside of Calypso’s chest. What would she not give for them?
“I’d give them everything” Inami thought faintly. It was that thought that brought the smallest of smiles upon Inami’s lips as her hands rested against calypso’s face, cupping it between her palms. Her lips parting as she asked softly.
”Do you want me to make the pain go away my dearest kin?” Inami’s thumbs gently stroked her cheeks as she thought to herself faintly.
”How selfish can I be? For them… I’ll change this world” ”This is the curse of living.. But if you want, I can make this pain of yours go away. “ As she spoke, tinges of divinity seemed to shimmer against her eyes, dying them in deep purple.
” But know this.. This pain that you feel will eventually go away love. Seasons will pass and you will find equilibrium with yourself. There will come a day that you look back at this moment with pride, rather than cry over what was never meant to be. “ She softly pushed the corners of calypso’s lips up in a fake smile as she spoke.
”This sickness you feel is called sadness and betrayal. If you feel like you cannot let it be, then it’s okay to walk that ruinous road. It’s okay to stumble, fall, and crawl. You will face much more hardship and heartache this way but.. It too is a fine way to live. “ Inami gently let her fingers stop pushing the corner’s of calypso’s lips up as she gently spoke once more.
”And if you choose to walk that road, I will stay by you every step of the way. Until you find a point which you finally stop hurting. “
