ENTER THE DREAMER

Artist: Carrotwine - Song: Dark Side Of The Road

Though the young one's journey would have been far shorter if she merely transported to the Chaya kingdom, she decided it would be better to enjoy the journey there, rather than rush - It wasn't like her aunt was going anywhere. She had taken the form of a large, draconic bird, taken to heights not many could ever dream to reach. She was in a state of calm, despite her speeds being far faster than any typical aircraft, enjoying the sensation of the winds brushing against her dark, mist-like body. Being in a form so radically different to her typical one didn't feel odd to her in the slightest - This was still her, a facet of her, in which she could use to enjoy things one typically could not.

Her silvery gaze tracked down to the various mountains and chasms that made reaching the kingdom typically very difficult, but from her perspective, she was so far up that it was no trouble to pass them. She was almost fool hearted enough to think she was above it all, but she shook off such a ridiculous thought with ease - She knew well enough that a failure in movement or a wrong step could easily send her tumbling into the chasms before, and falling into contentment with such a disconnected perspective would leave her open to fall.

Taking time in her thoughts, she soon would descend upon the doorsteps to Inami's palace, her talons changing and shifting back into feet as her form quickly and smoothly shrank and shifted back into that of the young woman she had grown to be, grasping the door and pulling it open with little issue as her footsteps would resound within the palace walls, stepping fully in before quietly shutting the door behind her,

"Auntie Inami? You home? It's.. Calypso. I'm okay."

What day was it again? Did it even matter? The thoughts kept coming as Inami sat within her thick four-poster bed. Plushies surrounding her as she remained bunched up within her sheets. Her pink and black hair in disarray as it sprawled across thick satin pillowcases. Her night-dress a lacey black from where it was revealed, a stark contrast to her ruby red sheets. Her heterochromatic eyes were dull, rimmed by red puffy eyes. Her listless gaze looked at nothing in particular as she let the quagmire of her own emotions overtake and drag her down. After all, what did it matter?, she had awoken from the blissful lie she had been living for the cold harshness of reality that lay before her. If it wasn’t for the duties she bore, she probably would have vanished like her eldest sister khala, to somewhere far away where she could live out her years as someone ordinary.

She was so lost in her loathing that she didn’t feel the presence of someone dear to her until they had landed right up against her castle gate. Yet, once she sensed the presence that lay there, once she felt it, her listless eyes slowly lit up with a different emotion: concern. With a jerk of her hand, the very energies within the realm would distort around calypso, threads slowly pulling apart the fabric of reality to teleport calypso through the floor she stood on, the portal opening up above Inami, in a movement so abrupt and jarring that calypso probably wouldn’t have noticed the change until inami’s thin arms firmly wrapped around her, pulling her down into her embrace amidst the bedsheets.

”Goodness.”

The words softly slipped from her mouth, as a faint tremor wracked her body. She had let her fear fade to numbness when she had failed to stop her niece from experiencing pain. She had accepted when she had vanished that maybe she’d never see her again. She had even let herself believe that maybe she deserved it, but right now? Tears she didn’t know she had left to cry beaded on the edges of her eyes as she rested her chin on calypso’s shoulder.

”You’re here.”

The words seemed to come before Inami could formulate them. She squeezed her niece as if to assure herself this wasn’t just a daydream. That she wouldn’t break from this revere and be alone once more in her empty, broken world. She pulled herself back slowly and reached up, letting one of her hands press against Calypso’s cheek, squishing it faintly before she reached up and pinched her nose.

”You’re here.”

The words were repeated without much thought, but with far more emotion than cognisant sentences could convey. Inami’s expression morphed from concern and disbelief, sadness and pain overtaking them, before soon relief broke through like the first days of spring after a hard winter. Inami once more pulled Calypso into a hug as she said softly.

”Thank Goodness”

Those words were spoken breathily, the hoarseness behind them a testament to the emotions that Inami was feeling in that moment. Even as she spoke, Inami could feel the wetness building on the corners of her eyes, she could feel the sickening tightness working its way into the center of her chest, and she could feel her stomach flipping. Violent, powerful emotions surged within her, and for once she didn’t care to quash them.

”You were okay.”

Her voice finally broke and a soft hiccup bubbled from her lips. She reached up and wiped one of the tears from her eyes, as if that’d stop them. She tried once more, and yet they just fell harder. Her fingers gently dug into the fabric of calypso’s shirt, and the tremors soon overtook her. For the first time in a long time, when her lips parted, from them came a sob of anguish. She was so relieved, so relieved and yet, now that she had seen her, now that she held proof within her arms that she was okay, only now did the pain and misery overtake her.

Her tears poured down her face, and stained the back of calypso’s shirt. Her sobs were broken by the occasional hiccup. She had been so scared for so long. She had been so ashamed, and she had hurt so much, and yet right now? All she cared about was her niece was okay, and that was why she cried. Why she held onto her like she would vanish again.

"Aunt..-"

Calypso felt her body suddenly be flipped into a different position, rather than walking she was suddenly in bed, her train of thought returning when she felt a woman's embrace upon her features, the young one blinking twice as her precious gaze lied on Inami, "..ie?"

Like a dark ocean of misery washing over her, Calypso was exposed to Inami's intense emotions laid bare to her, the young one appearing stunned by the jarringness of the situation, but quickly easing into it as she knew Inami needed to see and know that she was alright. She let the woman embrace her, touch her, and otherwise take in that she was truly here, awake and alive. The young woman herself almost wanted to cry, as a mix of her own emotions and Inami's imposed upon her psyche, but she kept her composure, staring softly to the woman's pale face as she touched hers.

"..Yeah, I'm real. I'm really here. I promise."

She spoke softly, trying to give her family member comfort and affirmation as she would slowly move her hands to touch the woman's back, shifting with her as she began to cry into her shoulder, the young one feeling the tears roll upon her body, her self-woven clothing uninterested in ridding itself of the fluid sadness. She let the woman cry, as her hands would graze her flesh, one resting and rubbing her quaking back, the other petting her head as she allowed her sweet, copious tears to roll down her own face,

"..Thats right.. Don't hold them back.. It's okay to cry.."

She held Inami close, that sinking feeling heavying her heart as she would press her head against the woman's own, "..I'm sorry for not coming sooner, and worrying you."

She would kiss the woman's forehead warmly, swaying her hold a little bit as she continued, ".. I just slept for a while, is all.."

”They wont vanish like smoke this time.” The thought slipped through Inami’s mind as she fussed. The warmth of calypso, and the tangibility of her flesh both were enough to convince Inami that she wasn’t an illusion, that she wouldn’t vanish. That thought in itself helped Inami’s sobs quietly abate into hiccups, her heterochromatic eyes opening as she worked through the tears, those twin eyes of amethyst and amber studying calypso’s face after she finally withdrew from the embrace, a small, unsteady smile blossoming on her face as she snorted faintly.

”It’s okay to take a nap every now and then dear, I do it myself.”

Inami was the queen of them as far as she was concerned, after all, her last slumber had lasted almost a hundred years. Right now though, that amusing thought was replaced by another, and inami had formed a distortion in the air, and from it came a platter with two cups of tea and some cookies.

”I find myself in need of some junk food, how about you?”

Inami’s attempt at small-talk was met with that unsteady smile slanting slightly, showing a bit of the queens usual whimsical nature as she picked up a shortbread cookie and took a bite. To an outsider, the breadth and speed at which inami’s emotions had changed might be.. Jarring, or fake even. However, to those that knew her, knew that she was a being whose emotions continually flitted, unfettered. This was her attempt of lightening a much anticipated reunion, rather than letting the crushing gravitas of her emotions ruin it.

Inami took her time before she took a sip of tea, the scaldingly hot liquid cascading across her tongue and down her throat, a soft exhalation leaving her lips with a faint billowing mass of miasma. The blackened tendrils of smog-like mist drifting upwards to disperse in the darkened cloud of Inami’s energies that lay on the roof of her bedroom.

”I'm just glad you were okay. “

Inami looked out across the windowpaned room, at the bustling city blow. Her fingers gently cradling her teacup as she said softly.

”And i’m sorry I couldn’t get to you sooner, If i had paid more attention to all of you, none of this might have happened.”

Inami said softly, as she brought the teacup up to her mouth for another sip.

Calypso's eyes immediately lit up at the sight of tea and cookies. There was one thing the young Asthavon couldn't grow out of no matter how hard she would try - Her sweet tooth. With Inami's statement regarding the desire to indulge a bit, her pale hands were already reaching for the sweets and tea as she would giggle,

"Good thing no food's junk food to me~"

She carefully sat up in the sheets, grasping two cookies and her own cup as she would gleefully chomp down on the confections, taking a sip of tea as she seemed gently startled by the temperature initially, but calmed down as she let out a hot sigh, smiling contently as Inami spoke of being thankful she was alright, though her smile soon drooped as the queen proceeded to lay some blame of the situation on herself. In response, Calypso quickly clasped her shoulders, staring her right in the eyes as her pupils slitted with her spike of emotion,

"Stop. Don't say that. I'm my own person - I made a fatal mistake. I thought giving myself up to her would make her stop, but it didn't. I didn't bother fighting back or speaking my true feelings. I'm the only one responsible for letting Algos get out of control and bring harm to me."

“No, we are all at fault for Algos, while you were the fixation of her love, the scars that shape her run far deeper than that.”

Inami’s tone was a resigned, and somber one as she pressed the pads of her fingers up against the scaldingly hot ceramic cup. Her emerald green gaze dimmed slightly as she allowed the steam that rose from the cup to gently shift and churn, forming the shape of Neoveta.

”Algos, was born a being of negativity. The remnants and manifestations of a girl who was only abused, twisted, and forsaken by everything she loved, before being cast aside as a petty sacrifice for the schemes of your mother, who quested blindly for power. “

Inami closed her eyes, her thick lashes accenting her face as she released a breath of smog, the tendrils of blackness enshrouding the figure of the girl, dispersing it to mist once more.

”If I had just noticed sooner, the anguish that Neoveta, the being which she was born from had undergone… maybe none of this would have happened. Or if I had accepted Algos for who she was, and quashed this.. Twisted yearning of hers, then you would not have been hurt. Or maybe… If I had stopped my sister, your mother, this realm would not have almost fallen to ruin. “

Inami’s eyes opened and she took another sip of her tea, before reaching out to rest one of her hands upon Calypso’s own, cradling, and grasping it to let her feel her touch. To let her feel that physical connection that lay between them, so that she would know that Inami was saying this because she loved Calypso. Not because she felt obligated, or ashamed.

”You may be at fault for not recognizing the emotions of your elder sister, but both you and her are children. No matter the experiences you have faced, you are fledglings in consideration of the millions of years a demon could live. We should have stepped up Calypso, Me and Mana could have stopped this, If only we hadn’t been caught up in the woes of our own emotions. “

Inami set her cup aside, and used the hand that had grasped Calypso’s right hand to pull the girl into another embrace. A soft smile adorning her lips as she glanced outside the window, at the floating city that lay upon the horizon.

” You have a home here, and you are loved. I will no longer sit idly by and allow this family to continue to tear itself apart. Know that I will fix what has been done. “

Inami’s expression flashed with a hint of steel, as she exhaled faintly.

Calypso was silent as Inami spoke, affording her aunt the respect of speaking and expressing her perceptions and truth, even if Calypso didn't wholeheartedly believe them. No matter how much any being would try to convince her, deep in her heart of hearts, she felt it was her responsibility to be the receptive one, the one to hear other's hearts and be able to address what they would say accordingly, but with Algos she utterly failed. Such utter failure was not something she could ignore, even with her meeting her sibling once more and giving her a sweet dream did not seem to fully remedy her feelings.

It was... Greatly distressing to the young one.

She needed no physical contact to tell Inami's words and heart sung with nothing but love for her, the dream demon's dreary, heart-raking despair layered and masked with a pretty face, but Calypso's eyes were dark and tired - A far cry from mere months ago, or was it years? Time had felt sloppy to her ever since she left the chaotic realm her mother used to sow the seeds of change and growth within her. She wasn't even sure how old she should be considered at this point, that comment of her and Algos being mere fledglings in comparison to much of the elders of their race tugged at her mind. She didn't even know what being a child was even like, and she always knew it was far past that point for her to experience it. She was pushed to rapidly grow, from the first moment she breathed within a real life.

Even as her head rested against Inami's chest in a warm embrace, a sense of disillusionment trickled into her tone like a cold, somber rain as she spoke,

"Sometimes I think, if only I were born sooner, I could have done something. I could have prevented all of this, if only I existed sooner."

Her expression possessed a thousand yard stare as she spoke, head dipped, eyes low as she continued, her hands raising to grasp the woman's own arms, "I'm responsible, I have to do something, to mend the damage within our family, and of the demon race.. I can't just sit idly by and watch the world go past me... Not again. Never again."

Her voice was almost a whisper, the slightest tremble to her fingers could be felt on the woman's arms as her breath hitched slightly,

"..Never again.."

Up In The Twilit Sky [Calypso/Inami] JCRrxmK

Artist: Undertale OST - Song: Your Best Friend - Word Count: 914

Inami’s eyes looked downward. Her mismatched gaze lingering on the young, weak girl that lay within her embrace. Each word that was spoken was heart-felt-- bone aching. Inami could feel the emotional state of calypso as easily as she could taste it upon the tip of her tongue. It was salty, and sour; a sensation that caused Inami’s nose to wrinkle slightly as one of her hands came up gently to caress the top of her nieces head. The emotions she was feeling were one's she had wondered to herself many times. They were emotions that kept inami awake many nights, and had brought her to the brink time and time again. The ifs, the theories and questioning, it was something that Inami understood well, afterall, her life had been full of them to the point that worrying was second nature to her, just like breathing. It had paralyzed her for so long, leaving her in fugue of foggy insecurities and fear. To see another go through such heartache was.. Sobering to the queen of brutes.

”I have only thought about how this is from my perspective. I haven’t thought about how Calypso herself must feel right now. How frightened, and woefully inadequate she must feel-- how alone she must feel.”

The thought was like quicksilver, cutting through the fog of hesitation that lay within the Queen’s heart and mind. It cut through the shadows that plagued her, illuminating her, and bringing to her a seldom ray of solace. Inami did not try to speak until Calypso was done getting out the fears and hesitation that lay within her heart. All the queen did was hold her, running her slender, and pale fingers through Calypso’s raven hair. Providing comfort and kinship as the young lady poured out the pain that lay within her heart. While Inami was not an eater of pain, she could not use her nieces pain to make herself stronger, she could not take upon herself that burden-- but that did not mean she could do nothing for her.

Inami provided her with the comfort that she has longed for so many nights. The need to be understood was like a poison, it would seep within a persons heart, and it would slowly erode away at their confidence. It was like a gaping abyss that would slowly expand, until it engulfed everything that was cherished, and in it’s wake apathy would reign supreme. Inami understood that better than most, because for years now, her heart had been mired in that very apathy, each day a struggle, each moment a fight, each thought begrudging.

She did not wish this upon anyone. This pain, this crippling feeling of inadequacy that would grip a person and hold them captive within it’s clutches. Each tremble that wracked Calypso’s body, the fingers that came to grip the queen’s arms, the silent sobs that spilled over from her nieces lips-- all of these things brought great pain upon Inami’s heart. It made her ache in a way that she had not ached for a very long time now. After all, after a certain point she had given up, she had stopped living her life, and she had merely just went through the motions: day by day, in a monotonous gray.

Within the room around them, the faded lanturns cast shadows upon the red wallpaper that surrounded them. It illuminated the pair that sat there, holding eachother. Not for lust, but for a familial bond that sang far stronger. For kindred spirits that at that moment, were just connected by the pain they shared. That was what it was right now right? Pain, and misery, regrets for the things that they could not bare to live with. Regret for the past that they could not chance. A regret so all consuming that it was interfering with their capacity to live in the present, and look forth towards the future.

”I have merely been trying to make her see things like I do, I’ve just been trying to mend my own scars. Have i not?

For inami, the moment of realization came after the sobering reality settled upon her. Her hypocrisy, her selfish, ugly desires. Her need to understand was secondary to all of these emotions, which churned within her like a volatile, toxic cocktail. She hadn’t even stopped to ask herself why? Why she was doing all this. Was it for her niece? A girl who had only lived but a few years, and yet had been subjected to the dregs of this world. Was it for the girl who had lived with nothing more than the bottom of a fucked up barrel, or was it for herself? Was it that even now, she was simply trying to pick up the pieces of her life, by padding it with consolation prizes?

Inami knew nothing about the answers to any of these questions. As her fingers continued to run through calypso’s hair; kneading her scalp, providing a warm body for the girl to vent her fears and frustrations-- Inami realized that all this time she had simply been stumbling around aimlessly. All her aspirations hadn’t been things that she had wanted, but driven by this need to be accepted and loved.

Why had it taken seeing someone so precious and dear to her, crying in her arms, besotten with their own insecurities, to understand that she hadn’t grown one bit since awakening? Inami’s eyes widened faintly, her fingers stopping within Calypso’s hair as her pupils shook faintly with that one realization. She hadn’t been moving forward, she had been moving in bloody circles.. Neoveta was simply a replacement for her insecurities about her past. Algos, was simply a bandaid used by her to get over the death of her counterpart. She had been blaming her sister for her own inadequacies. Ceal had simply been a way for her to forge a connection based on pain and suffering, in the hopes that her wretched heart could feel something again. ALL she had done, had been for her and no one else.

How sad was that one fact? Right now she sat frozen, her lips slightly ajar as she realized not once had she acted on what she wanted. She had only acted upon emotion, rage, and instinct. She had not tried to emotionally better herself, she had just taken it all stupidly.

”I’ve been a fool. Atleast now i’ve realized it though.”

Inami thought to herself, as the weight of that truth settled upon her heart. As the cracks that lay within her emotions and heart at once came tumbling down. It wasn’t as if she was cured, it wasn’t as if she could simply wish all this pain away. However, she now knew that all of it was insignificant. This warmth that lay within her arms. Her [/i]family[/i] was far more important than these petty slights and grievances.

Inami’s hand gently resumed it’s trek through Calypso’s hair, and for a moment she didn’t respond. She didn’t belittle Calypso for her childish emotions, she didn’t try to coach her that it was important to forgive. She did nothing more than allow the girl to sob within her arms. She held her, and she gently squeezed her to her bosom. She accepted that hurt, and she through her actions showed that it was okay for her Niece to be devastated. After a few minutes of silence, only punctuated by the slight crackle of dancing flame in dimmed lanturn, did Inami speak.

”I can’t say that all of that isn’t true. “

She couldn’t invalidate what Calypso was feeling. As her elder, she needed to show it was all Valid.

”That doesn’t mean that you should let that fact cripple you.”

Inami’s words were tired, and worn, but there was strength to them as she stared past calypso, towards the large open windows that bordered the wall to their adjacent left. She stared out into the distant horizon, looking at the reddened sky. As if she could find something in the vastness, as if she could gather strength from it’s depths.

”You shouldn’t hold on to what has been done, Calypso.”

Inami knew that her dearest niece felt responsible. She knew what it felt like to feel like you had failed, and failed so completely that there was seldom a path to redemption.

”Don't let what has happened define you. At the same time though, if you feel you must act, then do so without impunity. Don't let this paralyze you because.”

Inami’s hand pressed against the back of Calypso’s head, no longer running through her head she brought the girls head to rest against her collarbone.

”Life moves by far to quickly, to allow yourself to get stuck in the past. The hurting will pass, and one day the pain will be gone. But until then? “

A soft sigh escaped inami’s lips as she gently pulled Calypso back, her hands moving to rest on either one of her shoulders as she looked down upon her niece, her eyes studying the young lady’s intently. As if she could see everything that went on within her niece’s head simply by looking at her. The intensity of Inami’s gaze was far different than Algos’s or her Sister’s. For hers was a lingering flame, it shought to burn out the pain, even if it was impossible. It sought to help Calypso through this pain, so that she could become stronger from it.

”Every day will be a struggle. However, if you accept it, then each day it will get a bit easier. Until eventually, you will smile again. That’s the beauty for us demons. “

Inami’s hands shifted to gently wipe away any tears that adorned Calypso’s face. A tender, motherly expression adorning her face as she pondered how she wished to say the words that she wished to convey. How she could get them across in a way that conformed to her heart’s feelings. She did not wish to tell Calypso things half-heartedly. She didn’t wish to tell her what to do either. All she wanted was..

”For her to live her life to the fullest. Pain and Happiness included.” Once that thought escaped her mindscape, Inami knew what she wished to say to this girl. What pearls of wisdom she wished to impart to her.

”Until then, All you need to do is live by the convictions of your heart, dearest Niece.”

Inami drew Calypso back into a fierce hug. As if by doing so she could take the hurt away. As if for just a moment she could afford Calypso a safe harbor in which the worries of the world would just fall away. After all, if her worn and vile heart could provide comfort and solace for one of her dearest kin, why would she not do so?

”It’s okay to be selfish.”

Inami said softly as she glanced up at the floating city that was like a pinprick in the distance.

”It’s okay to cry. “

Inami’s eyes gently swept the horizon as she blinked back the tears that threatened to overwhelm her own face.

”It’s okay to be unsteady and make mistakes dear.”

Inami’s eyes drifted to the plushies on her bed.

”It’s okay to be imperfect. “

Inami’s eyes finally looked back to the girl that lay in her arms.

”And if you find that you cannot bare it alone, then we will just pick up the pieces together okay?”

A soft smile graced Inami’s features, one that exuded kindness, and honestly. She conveyed the emotions she wished to tell her niece. She was able to pull forth the integrity that she wished to share with her. The wishes and desires that she had for her.

”Because you are not alone. “

For Inami, that she was able to say all of this…

It was bliss. Even if it came from despair.’

ENTER THE DREAMER

Artist: Jack Stauber - It's Alright

Calypso was deep within her own thoughts as well, as she sensed Inami's own swirling emotions. The demon felt a great weight placed on her, and what drove that desire to carry it was guilt. Pure guilt, that her mind had woven together. She always spoke to herself in those what ifs and what if-nots, regardless of if they made any practical sense. She knew she couldn't have controlled when she was born, but she felt guilt for coming around so late anyway. She knew she couldn't control being born out in the cold world with no guidance, but she felt guilt that she was so easy to dismiss anyway. Despite all her growth, that was the one thing that reoccurred in her subconscious mind, and drove many of her actions as a result:

Guilt.

She was brought out of the silent cesspool of her thoughts by Inami's reply, her face remaining hidden in her bosom, her expression neutral as the woman's words spoke to her ears. All she could do was silently listen, the woman being allowed to go uninterrupted with her words of wisdom and comfort, as the young woman would remain pressed against her body, sounding eerily still as she did nothing but listen.

Such an eerie silence would only grow heavier the more Inami spoke and gave her physical expressions of love, a sensation of coldness to the young woman could be felt in her presence as she was held so close. If Inami got a better look at her finger, she would see that rather than the cool, sweet silver tears she shed, it was covered in a cold, pitch black fluid.

The sensation of icy hot burning would rest on the woman's chest, as Calypso finally broke her silence, lifting her head for Inami to see her face.

One of her eyes was nearly completely pitch black, the only thing not colored with shadows being her white pupil, and the other eye appeared to be on the way to be eclipsed with shadow, appearing distinctly darker than earlier. From both, a dark fluid dripped from them, down her face, the darker eye creating more ill tears than the other. Her expression was glassy, reeking of some of the most putrid negative emotions.

"..I know that already.."

Her voice was barely above a whisper as she spoke those words, her hands shakily raising, "..I know.. All of that... So why..."

Her hands rested on her chest, however they would tense, visibly sharpening into claws as they would dig into her flesh, blue blood spilling on the sheets as her breath finally broke and hitched,

"..Why won't it stop hurting..? I thought I was doing everything right... So why..?"

Pain, Anguish, Uncertainty, Doubt--All of these emotions could be tasted upon the tip of Inami’s tongue; Their acrid tones sizzling upon her taste buds. Calypso’s soft words were so broken and unsure, they were laden with the regrets that sought to bog her down and tear her asunder. For so many, these issues would continue to plague them, and would become an iron weight that sought to bring them down. So many things had happened, things that could not, nor should, ever be taken back. That was a part of growing up after all, the pain and all the anguish that would fill you was simply the worlds way of toughening one up. Still..

”Maybe this is all that we deserve to experience. This pain of reality.” Inami thought faintly as she stared down into those inky black eyes. Seeing the tears that traveled down Calypso’s face, Inami could not at first come forth with an answer. After all, who was she to tell someone else in anguish that it would be okay? That the crippling cold and numbness that came with it would abate. That the ebbing excitement, and increasing neutrality was merely a phase.

Maybe it would never be okay, for either of them, but, that was okay. Inami’s heterochromia flickered, and the pures hues of green stared down upon that uncertain gaze. There was no soft smile, or fluffy lies. She didn’t try to spoonfeed her niece shit, nor try to pain an untrue utopia. Instead, as her lips rested in a frown, and her hand gently sifted through her inky locks of hair, Inami released a sigh of midnight smog, her expression full of both pain, and conviction.

”Because when you lose what you hold dear, the hole it leaves is all consuming. Right or wrong have nothing to do with it my dear. That hole inside of you cares not for your dreams, nor your morality. “

Inami gently used a thumb to wipe away the inky blackness that seeped from her nieces eyes as she then held it aloft. Her eyes studying it as it dripped from her hands. There was a somberness about the queen as she continued to speak.

”All it cares for is destruction. If you let it, that pain in your check will consume you, It will chip away at you until you become a mere fragment of who you once were.”

Inami looked back down and smiled faintly, showing her razor sharp teeth. In that moment, the queen could not have looked more completely alone than she did. The softness of her voice underlying the raw unfiltered pain that glimmered just beneath the surface.

”You have to let go and move on Calypso. Even if in doing so you create a rift that cannot be mended. If you do not move on and live for you, then you will only walk a ruinous road. “

Inami gently planted a kiss atop calypso’s head as she murmured softly.

”You have to make peace and leave the past behind. Only then will you begin to heal my love.”
