The Shihoin Shadow

Yahiko Shihoin

Yahiko had been aimless since his Uncle's passing and been figure seeking improvement. Now more than ever he wished to protect his family. From everything, he could as not just a man of intellect. His journey to the Combat Division was an open combat session they held. Yahiko's skills were very unknown to most people. He kept information about himself and hobbies behind layers. Figuring him out was difficult if not impossible. Yahiko stood in the sands merely observing for now. Why had he come here buzzed through his mind? These weren't the strongest the Gotei had to offer. He didn't intend to show his skills off yet either. He watched the man wield his sword. His swings were clumsy and if anything he'd be in trouble elsewhere. Yahiko merely stepped back sidestepping. As he observed the weapon come down he put his foot on the back. He was nimble for his size and brought his hand to rest against the man's chin.

But stopped short and didn't send him into the dirt. It wasn't a mercy thing or anything as he stepped off the back of the blade. Yahiko fought as a Hakuda user much like his family. He fought in a melee range and his movements were sharp and precise. He didn't leave room for a lot of styles or things. Yahiko fought free-form without any defined form. The nature of his Zanpakuto made it such, which is why he kept it confidential. Even asking family members to not talk about it. It was something he preferred nobody knows about. This wasn't out of shame or disrespect. He was very fond and connected with his Zanpakuto. They both trusted one another immensely. Information is important the one who manipulates it will have an upper hand.

It's why he always settled on sealed even against enemy releases. He wasn't strong and it wasn't about arrogance. His eyes like coal examined whoever would come next into the sands. He sat for a moment pulling his cigarette's out. Bumping one up to his mouth. Slowly removing and lighting it after the fight. His first cigarette of the day. Wouldn't be too often he smoked when he could help it. Two maybe three a day depending on his mood. After his Uncle passed he smoked a bit more frequently. The one a day motto he had seemed off. But that was alright as he watched the guy exit the sands.

The grounds were run about with various things. He had to clean up somethings, sweep up some sandy blood one of the unconscious members of his division wasn't currently able to. Otherwise, they'd have to clean it. He had some paperwork to look on but he'd look it over in a few days. He was walking around the grounds for now, making sure none of the idiots were killing themselves as well as seeing if anyone else was making themselves known. As he detected some combat occurring, he sensed some faint, unknown reiryoku and with that thought in mind, he stealthed his own and vanished in a flash step. His mind wandered as he observed what definitely appeared to be a Shihoin, very casually stomping out one of the members of his division.

How curious. He wasn't trying to sharpen himself, at least not with this individual. And he wasn't showing off either. Actually, it seemed like quite the opposite. How utterly delightful, it would seem this one liked to keep himself a secret. And Shin knew what that was like. But, Shin liked to learn secrets. So, he observed. No using his blade. By preference or just to keep it's abilities a mystery. Or both. How fascinating. Baka, don't just beat on him just because you want to know what he can do. You're already in enough trouble as it is. Shin sighed to himself, she did have a point. He couldn't aimlessly just slap this guy to see what he did. He'd have to be a bit more subtle. What could he do he wondered about it before deciding to simply play the stalker as he silently flash stepped a meter or two behind Yahiko while in his stealthed state, in a state that was was very difficult to detect as his own reiryoku was both concealed and also lowered to the point of it almost not even being there. He would just stand there for a few minutes, pondering exactly what to do as he watched him smoke. And then it hit him as he smirked, the cigarette reaching the last of it's smokable product. his thumb and forefinger would then swiftly grab it by the lit end, not being phased by the burn. "What would your aunty Cat-sensei think of you burning your lungs away so flippantly, I wonder. Now, besides cutting away your lung capacity, what brings you here?" Shin made no mention of how long he was there or what he had saw or hadn't saw, he didn't need to. That and he was more curious about what was to come next rather than what had already happened anyway.

The Shihoin Shadow

Yahiko Shihoin

His lips slowly turned to a smile as he exhaled some smoke. His eyes glanced downwards towards the lit cigarette. It would make sense that the Captain could get behind him so easily. It had been snuffed out as he exhaled a bit. Yahiko didn't seem bothered or perplexed. He didn't jump in the air or move quickly. Slipping it into his pocket he slowly stood up. His frameshifting cleanly to face the Captain. Yahiko moved with footwork even when not fighting. He'd been trained to always exercise his movements. HIs reiryoku was kept at zero until the moment came. The Shihouin combat style had been drilled into him. Not to mention other things he kept hidden. "I suspect, she is in mourning for my uncle's passing." He said softly commenting on his Uncle's death. It still stung like a knife digging into his side.

Yahiko wouldn't beat around the bush as he glanced at his hands. He lacked something that he wished to obtain. He didn't train himself power wise in the living world. That wasn't the objective of his time there. It was to grow strong enough to reclaim something. The Shihouin name was always connected to stealth. So he was training himself to challenge Captain Kuro for his spot as Captain. That was Yahiko's goal at the moment. But that goal lingered far away from reality. "I came to see if I could find a way to raise my power. My objective is far away yet at present I doubt it will be possible." He'd not yet obtained the power needed. It was about more than just his resources as a Shihouin.

This came down to the power he could wield in a fight. Yahiko understood with full realization. That he needed to get stronger for this path to open. The path may diverge from its course. But the goal was set and the only to do. He was to seek out ways to grow his strength and get more potent. Rio had been right his skills once refined would be a terror. But despite his intellect, the only clear cut way forward. Was to fight and fight often now. "My only clear method I knew of was to spar with combat fighters, this place seemed to most accommodating to that end."

So, there was a passing in the Shihoin family. Shin had to admit, that wasn't a great feeling. He didn't have great ties with them but, he greatly admired and respected Yorouchi and didn't wish anything that caused her anguish. Shin pondered for a moment as he listened to the kidmention a goal and wishing to become stronger. He had an idea of what it coudl refer to, but not enough information to truly put his hand on the pulse quite yet. regardless, he was choosing to spar with his division but, Shin knew better than to assume most of his division was sharp enough to engage in close combat with the Onmitsukido under sparring conditions. In a full on fight with full power, potentially. But just in pure skill without power, that was an easy call. Shin pondered for another moment as he shrugged his shoulders.

"You and me both know that you are more likely to get a real challenge sparring up with the Onmitsukido than with my subordinates. Actual full on fights are probably different but sparring conditions have restrictions that heavily favor you and your skillset. Which means your trying to hold an ace on them, I take it? How fascinating. I can't say for certain but, I take it your goal is Mute-taichou, isn't it?" Shin mused as his grin widened. He was familiar with the varying types within the Onmitsukido and in general, they were a secretive bunch. So it wasn't hard to imagine this tactic in order to try to gt ahead of the pack was less about skill and ability and more about who knew what. Shin knew that better than everyone else in the Seireitei. "I'll tell you a secret. Me and you are cut from the same cloth. We deal in information. Which means you most likely knows what comes next. You want to get stronger, each time you come here you're going to have to show me something new, even if you hate the idea of me knowing about it. And believe me, you'll notice the difference between accepting my terms and fighting against them." Shin said as, knowing the first rule of combat in the Onmitsukido was there was no 'ready set go', his feet swiftly chucked both of his tabi at Yahiko's face. These were merely a minor deterrence as shortly enough, both of Shin's toes dug into the sandy areas of dirt below and rapidly chucked waves of sand and dirt at Yahiko's ears with rather forceful velocity. The intent being for the thud of the impact to reverberate into his eardrums, potentially burst them but more than likely, cause instant vertigo. Temporary but enough of an action to let him know he was merely gauging his actions and reactions.

The Shihoin Shadow

Yahiko Shihoin

His expression hardened as he heard the connection made. While it could be argued and true. That his skills would be suited in that place. There was a simple problem as he would express it now. "Perhaps once upon a time, but at present, the Onmitsukido falls short of anything I require." This could be seen as a deflection perhaps. But it was also quite true, they'd long since fallen away. They had lost their luster of years when Soi Fong ran it. They were an entirely different thing now of the Gotei's changes. Some good and some bad, their skills as killers had become dull. Much like an unkept blade, his eyes shifted. Yahiko's gaze met the Captain's. It was an offer but it came with an attachment. Someone who didn't do it for free. He looked puzzling if the man could be trusted. The conditions would have to be met. He required the support of Captains for this. So one here didn't hurt as he extended his left hand. It wasn't towards Shin but out to the side. It came quickly as his hand was engulfed. It was entirely turned into a black without any light or color upon it. A strange miasma like substance moved up into the air.

Yahiko had plenty of secrets, his Zanpakuto, his Shunko, and his mother's martial arts. He kept many of these things to himself. The technique for binding both Engineering and Soul technology. Many secrets were inside the mind of Yahiko Shihouin. He knew more than he let on and revealed little. In exchange for power. For getting stronger revealing his Zanpakuto here wasn't too bad. He'd kept most of it under lock and key. While he didn't explain what it did yet. He imagined this would catch the Captain's interest. As no matter, the digging one did Yahiko's Zanpakuto was blank. This had been by design, he didn't reveal it or preach it.

He used Hakuda and Hoho fluidly to fight. This way he kept his secrets for himself and had an edge. He wasn't known among his family either which helped. It helped keep an illusion of information from people. But he suspected that fighting for the Captain's spot. That wouldn't be free for him so something had to be given. It was most certainly something to work on. Yahiko presented himself as a Free-form Martial artist, someone who didn't reveal his hand yet. To grow his strength he required to combat his style and such needed to remain hidden. Kept from the world's view so he had an edge. Information and its flow would need to be controlled here. But it seemed on this occasion a price must be sacrificed.

"Very well then."

Yahiko reacted to those moves but not in the way one would suspect. The tabi being tossed at him was. Side stepped almost like a graceful dancer. As for the sand Yahiko released two punches which didn't seem like much. But they were ten punches condensed into one. They were akin to flicker jabs at the speed used on them. Yahiko's arms were light and supple like a whip. Allowing him to create these punches and respond rapidly. But not only that to attack in turn as the impacts sent pieces at Shin. Yahiko's expression didn't change and he used small movements. Keeping himself tight and in a form of just the right amount. He didn't waste movements and kept himself able to react again.

Clean. Efficient. It reminded him of the good ole days when the Onmitsukido were actually efficient and could kill targets and didn't charge in head first. How interesting this was, and how interesting it was that the shadow type Zanpakutous seemed to be more common than he anticipated. Needless to say, a burst of dirt shot forth at him at a high velocity but, Shin didn't really move. Instead, his forehead bent down slightly into the path of the dirt and let it impact him in his forehead, tearing away slightly at his flesh and causing blood to pour down his face. He grinned wickedly as this occurred, this would be more interesting and fun than he originally anticipated as a handle went up to break the path of blood from flowing into his eyes and part it to flow on the outside of his face. "I admit, that isn't really far from the truth. I think the mindscape speaks on our actions in this situation though. Let me see, let me see. It won't be any fun if I use kid gloves but I can't go full out either. Eh, I'll figure it out along the way."

The same hand that was moving blood away from his face simply just kept itself slightly clenched and dripping slightly with blood whilst his left hand picked a few non bloodied bits of sand from his clothing and proceeded to walk forward. Each step he took was angled to obscure his clenched, bleeding hand, to draw attention to it as he proceeded to move forward, taking slow, casual steps. The more time you gave an opponent to over analyze a simple scenario, the more likely they were to assume it was something intricate and advanced versus the most basic of redirections. He carefully paced the steps and then, raised his bloodied hand, positioning it as if he was preparing to slash it downward in a slashing motion. It was a wide, downward angle arc and misinformation could easily sell that the blood was a weapon that could slash from a distance and based on the chosen efficiency his target enjoyed using, dodging such a wide attack would just take a simple pivot. But Shin's left hand at the same time was flicking a grain of sand at Yahiko's right pinky toe with great velocity, with the intent of breaking it with the force. The impact if it missed would leave a small hole. The moment that these would force Yahiko to leave his feet, Shin would close the distance in a rapid Shunpo at an awkward angle to Yahiko's right side with a forceful liver strike reinforced slightly by his Reiryoku.

The Shihoin Shadow

Yahiko Shihoin

The question he had to ask himself was diversion or reality? Yahiko studied the man for the moments given. The Captain was too sharp and intelligent. His mother had a saying if something is obvious. It's likely a trap so that left him with a conclusion. Bakudo 7 should be enough to defend against his open area. Yahiko considered himself a careful man. Believing that an opening would provide itself. So he did act in a way the man thought. mumbling under his breathe as a green five feet long barrier appeared. It was potent enough to block the strike hopefully. Thus prepared his next trick as Yahiko figured something. This guy was good and well trained just like the Onmitsukido of old. But most importantly he was trained by Yoruichi Shihouin. So it best to expect absolute excellence. Did he have the speed was the question? During this movement with the Kido left. Utsusemi a technique his aunt used and likely one that the Captain was familiar with. Yahiko used it be his version of it, by moving his shadow to his foot.

He was able to create a Utsusemi with a shadow to it. Allowing him to create two of them not revealing more. His frame vanished with the first burst leaving him to be struck by the Captain. With a shocked expression, more of surprised at the liver blow. And a final Utsusemi from behind coming down with an ax kick. Once this one was concluded Yahiko would reveal his presence. His fighting style kept him well hidden. This guy was good and not just good but amazing. Yahiko could see the Shihouin teachings pretty firmly. Had he not been trained to expect everything as a trap. He'd likely of fallen for it, the man was simply too good. For it to be anything but a trap. A clever move to box him into a corner. He fought as Onmitsukido so the training was there. Yahiko stood at the original spot with his back slightly against a wall. Prepared to unleash a massive Kido spell if need be. But he decided to wait, Yahiko's mouth kept a straight face.

"Seem's I was right, to suspect that your style boxed people in...Aunt Yoruichi and the older school of Onmitskido show their colors." Yahiko didn't intend to act cocky. He merely was observing something he saw as the truth. His hand was ready to release Sokatsui right here and the shadow upon it again. Revealed it wouldn't be one but many if he did so. He'd scored a hit by reflecting the blowback. Yahiko hadn't expected the blow and had used Utsusemi more as a reaction. But he also got the sense that Captain Shinryu let himself get hit. That he could have completely avoided it. He sensed that in terms of speed and power. He allowed it to happen thus giving Yahiko some sense of superiority. That did not exist, Yahiko was extremely careful when fighting. Almost insanely until he was sure he knew the limits.

How interesting, he was anticipating and setting movements ahead of time. He had to admit, it was interesting to see him try to manipulate the situation to his advantage. He came down for a strike on his shoulder and as it made an effort to arrive, Shin's necrotic Eshi surrounded his shoulder in a thin veil for a moment, acting as a barrier upon the moment of contact, before dissipating as contact ended. Yahiko wouldn't immediately notice the deadened flesh, muscles, tendon and nerves but a few moments after, the area around his Achilles heel and ankle would be temporarily necrotized, the areas around it would feel as if they were on fire. "My colors, you say? I'd be paying attention to your colors more than my own, to be honest." Shin said with a smirk, letting that idea linger for a moment.

Shin figured as suddenly vanished in a Shunpo. His movements suddenly created multiple pulses of reiryoku with feints that seemed like strong strikes that were aimed at his left side. Aiming strikes at left side with sharp feints seeming like grab attempts within Utsusemis before his Kamereon suddenly appeared at his right side at an angle that would force Yahiko to move using this right foot to avoid, sharpening his reiryoku on his index finger and creating a very tiny point and thrusting it towards Yahiko's shoulder, with the intent of cutting the bracchial nerve and into the joint. At the same time, Shin's lips uttered these words. "Bakudo #73: Tozansho." As those words left his lips, the ground beneath them and the area immediately surrounding them was surrounded in the shape of an inverted pyramid. However, the most noticeable thing to notice about it however wasn't it's size, which was smaller than normal at 20meters in diameter, but also was that it was a pale green of his Eshi, meaning contact with it would be necrotic as well as Shin after the jabbing finger strike would follow up with a forward palm strike intending to knock Yahiko into the wall.

The Shihoin Shadow

Yahiko Shihoin

Yahiko's foot felt an intense scream of pain, his Zanpakuto power? No time to guess on the subject. As the man came at him releasing quickly a Bakudo. He'd lost the advantage he'd worked for. The Bakudo was wrong something was going on. It had to be the guy's Zanpakuto. So given his foot and the color, it had to be assumed. Yahiko had no choice. " Embrace Keieiichinyo." His entire upper torso became engulfed in shadow. Almost like a fine jacket worn that lived and thrashed around him. Within this moment Yahiko's body became engulfed and the entire triangle filled. Wind pressure blasted against the Bakudo and against Shinryu. Several hundred miles an hour winds condensed. His choices were limited as fighting the guy wasn't a choice. He wasn't sure entirely his Shunko would break it, but he could tell from a glance. His mother used this Kido to box people into fighting her. Yahiko's clothing had been spared as he began to do something tiring. He went with one hundredfold Shunko. Making these winds vicious and far faster then any natural wind could be. It took focus and intense Kido control to manage it. But it was time for him to unleash it almost.

The barrier when it did crumble was blasted away from him as he inhaled. Yahiko couldn't avoid this finger poke. He couldn't avoid it completely given his foot was hobbled. Yahiko's blades of wind circled around him quickly. Yahiko used his strong foot and burst away with an increased speed from his Shunko. Landing down solidly he began focusing more. Around his hand, the wind began compressing to the point it howled. Dark shadows began compressing from his body to that hand. Amassing something of an attack as Yahiko knew the risks. The fighting close range wasn't good. His nerve was damaged from the contact. So he had one ace up his sleeve. To compress the Air all of it into one air as he began focusing. He didn't have the greatest control over this technique yet. His hand felt the multiple swirling vortex forming. Around his fist, they were forming as he inhaled.

Yahiko's swirling darkness began forming as he would release it here. This had the power to destroy a city block so he hoped Shinryu could stop it. But his fist shot out faster then it had any time previously. Part of it was because behind his arm the compressed air shot it forward releasing it all at once. Shadow's massive in their size consumed the area. The training ground hit so hard that tiles and trees were blasted away. Leaving a trail from him as he slid against the back of the wall. He'd found another wall and used it as support. Parts of it had been blasted away with a human shape left. Roof tiles and other things were hit by all the compressed air being released. It was a blockbuster unleashed on Shinryu. Yahiko didn't have anything else up his sleeve. He'd unveiled one trump card, he had others but they were works in progress. This one was just an all-out offensive technique to fight with. The foot ached as he'd made himself put some weight on it. It screamed in pain as he felt his Shadow slowly return to the ground sealing itself. His Shunko also emptying now.

He had more than Shin didn't see, but Yahiko had used a majority of his Reiryoku here at this moment. Leaving some Combat Division members stunned by the destructive potential.

Ohoho, things were starting to get very interesting now. Shin grinned wickedly as he began to feel him exert his force upon the area. Shin raised his own Reiryoku in defense to the winds and they clashed against the force of his own Reiryoku and let the winds crash into it and shred through his barrier. How interesting, he utilized wind and shadows. He seemed to have a good start to what he wanted, though he was overly cautious and didn't make actions in his advantage. Perhaps he could work on that himself. Who knows. Shin then noticed he was focusing a rather large attack with the shadows in his hand and Shin merely shook his head. All or nothing never actually worked, that was the first thing Shin knew about combat period. As the attack came, Shin's hand rotated in the opposite direction as he focused his reiryoku into his arm before pressing a finger into the shadows, his Hanki causing it to dissipate instantly. Only the backdraft of the force knocking some casual stuff debris remained as Shin sighed.

"Going for a finishing blow or an all or nothing blow is asking for death. You give yourself the biggest possible opening when you do this. Are you sure you're a Shihoin?" Shin asked in a rather acidic tone, pointing out in just his choice to do that alone he could have easily discredited all his own training or heritage in a single moment by losing his composure for a moment. "You honestly think you can upend the better Shadow Zanpakutou user if you're going to make sloppy moves like that just because some pressure is placed on you? Granted, I enjoyed the show you put on. So I'm not entirely sure if you were just buying future training or actually trying. Regardless, you make very poor decisions when you are cornered. It's a very poor trait to have in a profession where you are almost always likely to either be cornered or be cornering." Shin stated with a clear semblance of truth to it. You can't play cat and mouse if you're only willing to be the cat, after all. He then cracked his neck as he looked around at the onlookers. "You idiots wanna die? I don't recall telling you that you could watch." Several flash steps soon followed Shin's lazily slumped out threat towards them as he then chuckled to himself.
