Takehiko Kuchiki
おだ たつや
おだ たつや
Takehiko had spent time researching her among other things. Spending his restless evenings not sleeping. He worked because he wanted Keiko healthy. Her hearty and well was something required. Not for no reason, but because she was family. He picked up his stuff heading to her room. Offering a knock upon her door as he rubbed at his eyes. His other hand occupied with many things. Paperwork results and different medical mumbo jumbo. Nothing that explaining to her would make a difference. Takehiko had worked to find the reason behind her condition. What made it so those doctors failed. Why was it he failed using spells as well? What caused him to release that pain again. Something not done lightly as he waited for her to say come in. "It's me, Keiko, may I come in?" Takehiko introduced himself though he suspected she knew. He didn't know how much she knew about what he'd done. To stabilize her and try to get her comfortable without pain. He was devoted to her and those here.
He waited for her permission to enter the room. Upon doing so he set down his equipment and paperwork. Complicated words for what happened to her. She was a complicated case. He knew Ulv had come and gone, the person whom he owed greatly. Takehiko didn't come to her or ask her for things. He didn't want to bother the woman anymore. He'd stumbled and flailed on his path towards something. Takehiko didn't try to take her advice or do things the way he should have. Sitting down he rested his zanpakuto beside him. He'd already unlocked its true name. Using that other one was just so he could treat Keiko. How much did he try to help her despite the time? Takehiko's parent's deaths were coming up on the calendar. Murdered by demons it felt like he was frozen in time. He often shut himself off to others during this time. Few knew the pain of watching loved ones die before you. To be completely helpless to help them or anyone. Simply a misfit locked behind a spell. His mother bound him with a higher ranking Bakudo spell.
He could still remember the feeling along his wrists. Remembering the uncomfortable nature of it. Takehiko fought and clawed to hide that pain. The Kuchiki elders and work were the only solaces from pain. They allowed him to escape into paperwork. It wasn't a true solution to the problem. It was hard to open up, Ruin helped him find closure. But the ache didn't disappear even after. Memories bittersweet like raindrops falling upon the landscape. Takehiko had taken up painting now. Drawing and things like that too ease his life. But now his focus and mind remained on Keiko and her pain. Making her feel better was everything that mattered. His sleep and even his pain could come later. Takehiko wouldn't claim to be the nicest Kuchiki. But his gray eyes settled on her as he waited whatever she would say.

Kuchiki Keiko
"..... Come in."
She didn't want to let him in. But, it felt like the right thing to do. She held reservations against Takehiko still, and her hatred against him was deep-seated, yet... she was indeed still saved by him. It brought to mind the last couple of times they met since even before that. For the most part, Takehiko acted positively. He acted favourably. And, for the most part, she just only offered him malice and vitriol. To be honest, the only reason she was reviewing these things was on account of her meetings with Ulv and Kokoro. They were large influences in guiding her towards a different perspective.
When her cousin entered and started setting up, she kept silent. At first, she only heard paperwork. Was he going to start asking her questions or something? Was there something that needed to be filled out with the Healing Division? Why else would Takehiko specifically be the one to bring it. Most people in her family knew the tension Keiko placed on her relationship with the man, so there was no way he was sent to her on Kuchiki business.
Then, she heard the equipment.
"Uh... what're you here for again?"
She didn't mean to come off rude, but it was exceptionally suspect to hear. Keiko, who couldn't see and grasp any of her surroundings aside from audio cues, could only speculate on the things she was hearing; at the moment, the things she was hearing didn't sound comforting.

Takehiko sighed before lowering his head for a moment. Offering Keiko a bow and apology. As a medical practitioner, his duty was to ensure no pain befell her. When he arrived he failed at that sacred duty. Failing to notice until after that something prevented medical treatment. "First, I'm sorry that I was unable to provide you with medical care without pain. I should have been more thorough in my examination of why they'd not mended you." He said as his head raised. Takehiko's tone on that end was all business. The Kuchiki took his healing duties extremely seriously. Leaving no room for any evidence of slouching or failure. He'd gotten a reputation for being gifted. It wasn't pride or ego that made him such away. He wished with all his heart to provide treatment and help people. Takehiko sat there for a moment as she asked. Her question resonated in his ears as he spoke. Formally now as he didn't gesture yet for females. Takehiko was hopeful he could explain the situation.
"When I arrived, you were untreated by the female staff present. Their skills should have been adequate to heal you from less serious injuries. But something prevented medicine and usage of base kaido spells. "He said explaining to her what happened. Making her situation very unique and different from others. He swallowed for a moment continuing what he spoke of. "By order of Captain-Commander Abalia, I was ordered to find out what caused your immunity. To medical responses from myself and staff present. " He said with respect in his voice for the woman. She'd given him an order and he intended to finish it. Takehiko's demeanor was very different from their fight. His eyes had a burning in them not to just succeed but to help her. Though he sensed something different. Different from last time he'd seen her that made him bring a hand to his chin. "Do you have any speculation on what caused that?" He didn't rush to touch her with equipment.
Knowing she didn't like him touching her or anyone male. So he decided instead to venture only a small guess. His eyes of a gray looked at her closely now. Taking in her features as he awaited a response.

Kuchiki Keiko
Keiko heard the sigh, but she had no way of knowing about his bow, so all she could do was speculate on the sigh. Honestly, it sounded like one out of frustration, or maybe just general fatigue? It's hard to tell nuance and context without knowing what his expression looked like.
Then, he started apologising. Which was... it's not like it was his fault, right? Takehiko did his best with the circumstances he was given. Everyone else couldn't do anything for her, so there was that.
"It's fine."
The girl might've been slowly revising her thoughts on the man in her head, but the instinct to respond curtly was still there. She spent a lot of time establishing an opinion about him, after all; though she thought better of him now, all the residue malice and vitriol wasn't going to simply evaporate instantly and entirely.
When Takehiko started explaining things, a lot of it came at a surprise to Keiko. Was there something more that was wrong with her spine? She thought it was just nerve damage and numbness that prevented the lower body from having mobility. That's what it sounded like when explained to her. Did the nurses and doctors lie to her? No, they probably just tried to give her a straight answer without worrying her any further. But then, why would the Captain Commander herself give out this task? And to Takehiko, no less? Because he was the one who first healed her? That's.... good, she guessed.
"No, nothing really in mind... Oh, I mean, something does come to mind, but it's this thing that's just in my head, so I don't know how it would relate. Auber-sama could talk to it, though. Like a dark blob or something with a skull-face. Nevermind, I sound stupid. No, nothing really in mind."

Takehiko sat silent for a moment as he considered now. Was it possible the girl had manifested a hollow inside her? The infection wasn't something he was an expert on. He'd had his removed by Ulv only recently. Thus he couldn't truly do anything outlandish on it. The subject of what prevented that healing. That was a problem in itself. But if Aubar-san was involved in this matter. It would likely mean a hollow or some type of inner element. Something he couldn't manifest or discuss openly. He'd lost his hollow with Ulv burning it out. The negativity from his very being as it went about. So the issue was likely the involvement of an inner hollow. As he expected from the beginning. He thought about it, for now, considering how much Aubar-san told her. Takehiko smiled a bit feeling a sense of sadness inside of him. "I see, I suspect the issue is an infection of a type of hollow. I can only guess it's of no issue presently. Auber-san is the greatest expert the world has on them. So her skills and such with your description. " He said sitting there for a moment considering it.
He could perform spiritual acupuncture to help her with the pain. But he was out of his depth as he folded the equipment up. Her injuries to her eyes and such would recover. They weren't tremendously bad as he leaned against a wall. "I'm sorry to ask, but mind if I share something with you? " Takehiko had chosen Keiko for his burden now. For what troubled him ever since Aubar-san burned it out. "Ever since that day, food lost it's flavor and drink no matter the kind has become numb. What I mean is, I feel an emptiness inside myself. I can't fill it with drink or food or even my work. That's the price of burning something a piece of you out. " He said commenting on Akuma now. Inside he felt closer to a corpse than a Shinigami or anything. It was a frightening feeling that he covered up. He hid his emotions and ran from the truth and reality.
Takehiko ever since that day with Ulv simply had a big nothing inside him. He was broken inside and that summed up everything. Takehiko's eyes lost color and light as a feeling came. He went through the motions and studied and did everything. Gaining grades he didn't care about in the end. He simply just walked through life. Do everything he could for the Kuchiki and the Gotei. That was all that remained of him these days. "Heed her, Aubar-san can help you not make the same choices I did. I am the road that you fall on if you make the choice. If you decide to have something taken for nothing. No exchange or portions are given, just remember it, Keiko. Auber-san is right about this stuff far more often then I am wrong about things. " He said it softly before wrapping his equipment up now. Making notes on some paper and sending a hell butterfly off. This had his report for the Captain-Commander. Noting it as a hollow like being inside of Keiko. That was the nature of that now, as he felt himself breathe out for a moment.
He knew Keiko would lash out with some remark or something. But Takehiko felt nothing but regret over things with Aubar-san thus he sought her out not. It wasn't his place anymore. He was going to live with it and simply accept what came. That was what Takehiko had made for himself. This was his coffin to lie in after all.

Kuchiki Keiko
"WHAT!?"
Keiko was so startled by what Takehiko said, she moved way too quickly, and the scabbing in her eyes opened some. Little by little, the blood started to trickle out of her closed eyes, staining the bandages covering them.
"Wh-what do you mean, it's a hollow? No, I can't have a hollow in me--that can't be right! You're mistaken. You must be mistaken. I, I can't, I don't even have enough spiritual energy to have a hollow yet. If I had a hollow, it would just consume me outright!"
Her face started to grow red in fluster, and soon she realised there was anger in her. Anger at the audacity for Takehiko to suggest something so vile. The entire time, she was so concerned with what he just said, both in denial and in frustration, that she only heard his confession in bits and pieces.
Then, she noticed the hell butterfly come and go, through her spiritual senses. Her anger turned swiftly to fear. Keiko lifted the sheets off her immobile legs and pulled herself forward with her hands. She threw herself off her bed in panic and crawled on the floor to Takehiko.
"Call it back--CALL IT BACK!"
There was no way he was going to tell anybody else this epiphany. No, this lie. She wouldn't let him. No way.
This rigorous movement continued to irritate her eyes, and the blood started flowing out more rapidly. Keiko went up to Takehiko and pulled at the fabric of his hakama around his legs.
"Don't, don't spread any of these lies, Takehiko. I'll never forgive you if you do."

His eyes widened for a moment in surprise. This reaction was unexpected meaning it meant a lot for her. Closing his eyes tightening them, he brought a hand upwards. Recalling the Hell Butterfly to him as he held it on his finger. He remained seated as he looked down at her. Takehiko managed to call it back in time as he looked down at her. This was going to cost him in the end he imagined. "Alright, let's get you back in bed. I'll explain what's going on based on my theory. Then..if you decide it's alright I'll report it to the Captain Commander, alright?" Takehiko leaned down now as he picked up Keiko in his arms. His muscles tensed as he lifted the poor girl upwards. Sitting her down in the bed gently as he stepped away from her. He knew she didn't like men touching her or being near her. And he wasn't her favorite person in the world. This was just his results come back to bite him again. He sat down as he decided to tell her why. And where he got the consideration about it.
"Alright, so this is only guesswork on my part. But an educated one as Aubar-san is considered the Queen of Vizards. She is skilled at degrees which defy the norm when they are involved. If she detected something in you, it's likely it is present. " Takehiko said sitting the butterfly down on her bed now. So she knew where it was for her to keep track of. Takehiko was willing to do anything for his family. He even takes his report and changes it for Keiko's privacy. "Now given what you told me, about the shape and type of figure it held. It's a hollow type infection, but given that Aubar-san didn't do anything." He had faith in her that woman wouldn't let anything happen to Keiko. Takehiko had the utmost faith in Ulv Aubar even if his failures were lit up in neon lights. [olor=blue]" It's reasonable to conclude that inside you somehow is a hollow type being. Now if you don't want me to report that, I can tell the Captain-Commander that I'm unsure what manner of creation befouls you."[/color] Takehiko rested his case now for a moment.
"This isn't based on my conclusions, it's based on Aubar-san's I am merely using her skill and piecing together what you've given me." Takehiko said finally as he let her decide. It was her choice now if the Hell Butterfly went or not. He could report to the Captain Commander at any time truthfully. But he would not put his family at risk. Takehiko would protect Keiko's desires and wishes. Even if it meant he was in trouble for such a deed. That was his resolve for the Kuchiki house. For Keiko Kuchiki and those who resided here inside this place. Her wishes meant more to him than some report. Her problem was under supervision of Ulv Aubar if anything he could report that Ulv Aubar could explain the situation. That would likely tie up any loose ends. Making things clear for the Captain Commander. His hands reached down bringing a cloth to water. Wetting it before draining it noticing blood drainage.
He gently put it in her hand so she could tend to her drainage if she desired. Takehiko didn't press or force his touch upon her being careful of her feelings.

Kuchiki Keiko
Thank god. Keiko released his hakama as soon as the tension in her whole body was relieved. By then, the blood already seeped through the bandages and started dripping on the floor and her face a bit.
"Good... good. Thank you, Takehiko."
She shuddered a bit when he touched her, but it wasn't so bad. Plus, he listened to her, so the least she could do was be obedient here. So, past the initial shudder, she offered no resistance to him picking her up and taking her to her bed.
His words of rationale stung. She wanted to deny it, with all her heart. But, by his mention of Ulv, it felt like if she denied his theory, then she was denying Ulv, and that wasn't something Keiko would be comfortable with. Then, for a moment, it sounded like he figured Ulv was the one who gave her an inner hollow. Thankfully, he seemed to not invest in that theory; if he did, Keiko would've snapped at him again.
"Y-yeah. For now, just tell her that it's unknown. I'll... I'll figure something out. I'll ask Auber-sama about it, too."
She heard something wet dripping onto the floor, and she assumed it was the blood coming from her eyes, so Keiko was surprised to feel a wet cloth put in her hands.
"... Thank you."
She started wiping the took the bandages off her eyes and started wiping away at her face. The skin around her sockets were swollen and inflamed, and there was dark crust all along her eyelashes and at the edges of her eyelids.

Takehiko lifted the hell butterfly but didn't send it out. Returning it to its container for now. She made her request and he would honor it. They were family and Keiko mattered more to him. He looked at her eyes, wishing he could at least heal them. But this was something that would take time to recover. Her spine as well as something at his present level. It would take a drastic level of surgery and such. Keio deserved peace, not this pain. Takehiko would see to her comfort no matter what personal cost came. He leaned back thinking about how to handle it. He could say he'd given the matter to Ulv. That would certainly settle any doubts as he recovered his shinigami powers. Takehiko's feelings on it hadn't changed truthfully. But he was fairly sure she had something. Something he recently parted with himself as he recovered slowly. Takehiko learned from several Captain class people presently. Learning many lessons and one of them had become using his head. But in this case, he used his heart again.
"Whatever the choice you make, I'll stand by your side and support you. We are family, I suspect things will be noisy here." He said glancing towards the direction of the elders. A Shihouin beating up a Kuchiki to this degree. It wouldn't go without some noise from them he imagined. The problem was a real issue as he brought his hand down. Writing some notes about the situation and his report. That the being was observed by Aubar-san of the Academy. Thus taking away the need for action or recourses. "I talked to your classmates, sorry but I was ordered to get to the bottom of the incident as well." Takehiko merely wanted her to know that it wasn't personal. He didn't invade her life in the academy. He wanted her to grow and develop herself as she could. Takehiko wrote only a couple more notes as he didn't wish to cause her pain. Or concern her that he would invade her life any further. Takehiko accepted a dislike of himself from her for a while.
"Well, my Captain's back from her leave. Doesn't look like I'm getting demoted. The stand-in Captain's nomination seems to be sticking. I'm supposed to meet her soon. Unohana Retsu's daughter, maybe had she gotten to you. Your healing would have been less painful." Takehiko commented as he began slowly gathering up his things. She didn't seem to be in much pain now. He set his stuff down looking towards those eyes now. Reaching over he gently grabbed some warm water. Draining the fluids from it carefully, it had some medicines to help with her eyes. But the warmth was for the swelling. His frame moved slowly next to her as he waited. "Going to pot a warm damp cloth over your eyes. It will reduce swelling and inflammation." One cloth to clean the blood up and another to deal with swelling. Takehiko acted brutishly when treating her in his mind. Fixing the problem by wielding his shikai. But in this way, he could at least make her comfortable.

Kuchiki Keiko
"Thanks... again. And it's fine. If the Captain Commander gave you that task, it's not like you can just ignore it."
Keiko continued wiping the her face clean, but once it felt like the towel was saturated, she held onto it, a little awkwardly confused as to what she was supposed to do with it. Give it back to him to have it cleaned? She didn't know where else to put it. Keeping it in her lap would soak and dirty the sheets as well.
Then, Takehiko started small talk. It was unexpected--the two didn't really do this sort of thing. It'd be too weird to just, not respond though. Keiko decided to bite into it.
"Ah, your captain's back. Uh, have you ever met her before?"
She could hear him rustling around, the equipment being gathered. It seems like in the end, none of it was necessary. Keiko had a lot to think about from here on out. She already did, but this incident... it definitely took the cake. When Takehiko made note of what he was about to do, the girl had reservations. Yet, again, like everything else up until now, she felt she at least owed him this much. And, more importantly, it would be awkward to deny him. Keiko bent forward a little bit towards the sound of Takehiko's voice, making it easier to put the cloth on her eyes.
"That's fine. Go ahead."
