You know, she was right. Keiko did act hypocritical. To be fair, it wasn't on purpose, she just missed a bit and decided to act appropriately. A necessary skill for a shinigami and noblewoman is both propriety and the ability to adapt. That in mind, Keiko submitted and let Kokoro return the favour, patiently waiting for the whole process. But, another thought crossed Keiko's mind.

Kokoro said they didn't put any sugar in the shochu, but they probably put some in the amakaze. So, what if you combine the sweetness of the amakaze with the shochu--would that make things better? As always, and as a doer, Keiko was a tester, not just a thinker. Without even thinking, she stood up a bit and bent over the table, going for a direct taste. Kokoro didn't drink water like Keiko did, so surely the flavours might've remained a bit? Plus, doing this was going to be equal for the both of them, so the law was upheld.

Oh.

Huh.

This was kinda like those weird dreams she had with Yugiri in 'em, only it was actually like, real life. That was kinda weird, huh? She wasn't really sure what she was supposed to do in a situation like this, but usually if someone kissed you, you kissed back, right?

Right.

So with that in mind, Kokoro's hold on Keiko's hand tightened more than just a little bit, and given the haze in her mind right now (was that alcohol just really strong???) she didn't honestly even see what other recourse she'd have but to return the gesture. Somethin' somethin' equivalent exchange, right? Of course, Kokoro was definitely a bit more experienced in these sorts of things, and it likely showed, but that was fine, it was a learning experience or something.

Kuchiki Keiko

It was confirmed. The sweetness of the amakaze did nothing to enhance the flavour or lessen the bitterness of the shochu. It didn't taste any worse than just the shochu alone, and there was no burn to it, but it still wasn't something she liked. Keiko figured Kokoro was doing the same with the wriggling of her tongue to get a taste for herself. Kokoro's movements were so dexterous that she clearly knew the method to optimal oral taste-testing, so it was better follow along and take in that wisdom. Keiko was a quick learner and reciprocated with fairly well-matched movements, though sometimes a flick of their tongues ended up tickling a bit. There were other parts that started tickling too, but the girl didn't have any ideas as to why.

Once she felt like she had a good grasp on what she wanted to know, Keiko separated from her fellow tongue wrangler and sat back down.

"What'd you think?"

Keiko went back to taking sips of the amakaze, squinting at the cup a bit to once more inspect it. It was getting harder than before as her eyes were getting blurry, but a little set-back wasn't something to stop her.

Kokoro

Kokoro honestly kinda got caught up in this whole thing, but ya know, that made sense. She uh, she was probably pretty drunk judging from how hot her face felt. Was Keiko- Oh, hm, well she didn't expect that, but she also didn't really put any stop to it, and honestly, she probably did more than a little bit to encourage it. Just gotta, um, teach her right.

"What'd I think? It, uh... Yeah, it was sweet."

Drinking down the last of her shochu, figuring she was already far enough into this that she didn't need to stop drinking now, Kokoro's gaze couldn't quite find any one particular place worth looking at. She'd look away, back to Keiko, at her empty glass, Keiko again, basically everywhere and anywhere. Taking a very deep breath to try and get herself together, Kokoro watched the other girl continue with her amazake.

"You, um... You wanna get out of here? T-to bring back that receipt?"

Kokoro felt it strangely important that she specify that last sentence, though she wasn't sure why. They were just two girls. She didn't like girls, after all.

Kuchiki Keiko

Once she finished inspecting and sipping at the amakaze--the taste admittedly growing on her--Keiko's attention returned to Kokoro. Her eyes looked like they were swimming about out of focus, and a bit of concern washed over the girl. Just as she was about to ask if now was a good time to go, maybe let her get some rest or clear air with less people around, Kokoro already proposed the same.

"Oh, sure. That sounds like a great idea, actually--I almost forgot!"

Keiko stood up, ready to go, but she stumbled, and gravity pulled her back down into her seat. Her legs didn't seem to be working properly. The blurriness to her vision got worse too. Maybe it really was a good time to go, before she drank anymore.

"Uh, I don't mean to be a bother, but could I get a bit of help here? My legs and eyes aren't working quite right, first time that's happened."

That said, so far this experience was going great, and alcohol didn't seem as scary as it used to. It would be irresponsible to go around drinking all the time, but maybe she'd have more later in the future. That said, she also had to prepare herself for the side-effects. While this was the first time, it probably wasn't going to be the last time Keiko couldn't get her legs or eyes to work.

Kokoro

"Hey, don'tcha worry about it! Like I said, I totally gotcha covered."

Kokoro stood with far less trouble, setting down a pretty sizable amount of payment. Honestly, she was in a good enough mood that she didn't mind giving out a real big tip, and she smiled a little wider as she stretched a little.

"If walkin's too tough right now, then I'll just carry ya, and if ya can't see I got eyes for the both of us. Just hang on tight, kay? I'll getcha wherever ya need."

Picking Keiko right on up in what was quite visibly similar to a bridal carry, but was absolutely definitely not one, Kokoro made sure that the handholds of her Hoyoda were in just the right position to keep Keiko close and secure. For her safety, of course. Right back outside they went, and after a single deep breath, she simply rocketed on down the road, her Kyunpo shooting her forward far faster than an ordinary flash step. Her hold on the girl in her arms got just a little tighter- well, she didn't want her falling onto the ground or anything like that.

Kuchiki Keiko

When Kokoro approached to pick her up, Keiko's eyes started feeling heavy. In honesty to herself, and the fatigue built up over the past week of her busy schedule, she decided to listen. It was at Kokoro's advice that she took things easy, after all. She accepted the help and wrapped her arms around Kokoro's neck, resting her head on the woman's shoulders. The scent of the amakaze was clearly on her breath, and in her tiredness, she whispered out gently.

"That's a promise then, okay? Next time, you have to see for me, and carry me."

Keiko closed her eyes and felt the weight of the alcohol press her eyelids down.

Kokoro

"You got it, Keiko. I promise."

Smiling a little bit more to herself, Kokoro found the feeling of Keiko resting her head on her shoulder...very nice. It was really cute. Er- You know, like a cat or something. Not like, you know. Yeah.

Naturally, she didn't want to wake the girl up when they actually made it back to the office, so Kokoro did her best to get the delivery handled herself. It was a little hard with a girl in her arms, but she didn't really wanna put her down. You know. For her safety. Since she didn't really know where to bring her, Kokoro ended up just asking around for an empty yurt to put her in, and after a while, one of the 7th's barracks proved vacant. She set the girl down onto the bedroll within and, after a moment or two, leaned down to put a kiss on her forehead. Just, you know. Like a farewell. Ya know.

"Sleep tight."

And off into the night she went, a smile on her lips and more than a faint blush on her cheeks. Ah, man, she couldn't hold her liquor at all anymore...
