The Burning Heart

There was a slight tingle in Alex's heart. Not quite the proper emotion of missing, but being made to think about someone. Hmm, she'd talk about that to him later. For now, she needed to deal with these two. And to deal with them, she would laugh heartily.
"You two do not need the Boom Room. Hayden and Moonie were breaking that place but you two are rather far from Hayden and Moonie. The boxing ring will suffice, the stuff here is reinforced with my reiatsu, so it isn't easy to break" She would nod and guide them towards the ring.

Here, they were were offered a pair of gloves and shin-guards before getting in.
"Because I'd prefer neither of you to die horribly and because you both have a tendency to go fucking psycho on the guy you are fighting, you'll wear these. Any attempt to take them off and I stop you immediately, ok?" Ulv told them, handing the wear to the two if her conditions were accepted.

Elyss didn’t care about Ulv’s sexual adventures in all honesty, but the constant reminder about them gets annoying after a bit. What’s more annoying is that this is the norm. Somethings shouldn’t be something you get used to, but getting used to it becomes the only way you can stand it. At least Elyss isn’t that much of a prude. Though, anyone would have something to say if you’re always getting approached in this manner.

“I mean, Ulv does have a bunker that can take very intense punishment, but if you don’t want to be in a cramped place, then, whatever.”

Elyss remembers being underground with Abigail, and in all honesty, the idea of being back down there didn’t sit well with her, but it was the first thing to come to her mind. That’s most likely trauma from her last experience down there. Imagining Ulv throwing Alex through the ground is somewhat hard to imagine, but there is no doubt that it’s possible. Elyss has yet to see Ulv actually flex her abilities fully besides using her emotional abilities. One day, yeah? One day she’ll see Ulv actually fighting. That’ll be something…

“I’m good with anything really.”

And, Ulv is quick to point out something. Pssh. So what if they wouldn’t break the room. That just makes it an easier place to go all out, but it seems Ulv is actually showing some precaution that Elyss is most likely casting aside in her usual manner. Boxing? As if either of them would die… Well, thinking back, Elyss has rarely had the cleanest of fights that didn’t end in someone being slightly maimed. Maybe this is for the best…

“Fine…” She mutters taking the gloves and guards. At least it’s a more hand-to-hand fight which she finds herself fancying. She’s always enjoyed boxing and throwing in kicks from time to time to surprise people.

"Woah woah woah, I don't have a tendency to go fucking psycho, I just do it sometimes when people push me a little too far. Cut me a little slack here."

Before he actually put the gloves on, Alex removed his jacket, then his shirt. He wasn't planning on just stripping down like that time in Brazil, but at the same time he didn't feel like accidentally scorching yet another shirt. His build didn't actually do very well in conveying the strength that he had, but that didn't bother him much. He wasn't exactly a brick wall, but every movement made it clear that his musculature was exceptionally well-developed.

"I feel like this is kind of a handicap considering all the grabbing and slashing I do, but alright, alright. These things gonna hold up if I start heating up?"

Alex cracked his neck once, then got into his typical stance. It was relaxed, his hands raised but not exactly kept in any particular guarded position. His whole body was obviously ready to react to nearly anything, and that was the entire point. He had no plan of attack when he fought, he just went with whatever happened.

"Doing something sometimes is a tendency, Alex" Ulv told him. And then he mentioned the melting problem of the gloves and the fact that they were a handicap for him. Both good points but one more pressing than the other.

"Yes, they are a handicap. But you are an exceptionally powerful warrior with Dragon Gate and martial skill. Elyss is an angry woman. You need a handicap. Also yes. Keep this side of a thousand Celsius and they won't melt. No guarantees if you exceed that though" Ulv told him, calling a chair from across the room and nodding to the two.

"Ok. You may begin"

Hot. How extremely hot. Does Elyss have heat protection? Well, that doesn’t matter. She’s met people with so many differing powers that hearing Alex has some kind of fire or heat ability doesn’t surprise her at all. She just hopes she can make it through enough fire to land a good punch on him. That’s all that matters.

Ulv isn’t known for cutting corners or slacking on much, so the precautions were expecting. Though, Elyss expecting them to come in a more painful way. This is fine. It seems she has a bit of an advantage over Alex’s fighting style. Slashing and grappling? Interesting. However, Elyss has to put on a performance; a show she is glad to be a part of.

What’s the point of words now? All that is required is she get in position, and so, she finds herself across from Alex beating her gloves together testing the feel of them. Alex looks wide open, but the stance seems familiar. Her mind jumps to a foggy thought about a person who’s main defense revolved around dodging and reacting rather than blocking. She won't take that thought to heart though. For all she knew, Alex could just be that fast with his hands.

Either way, it seems she’ll be making the first move. That’s fine. She smirks lightly taking a stance with both her arms up in a signature boxing style. And, just like that, she’s dashing fast pushing off the ground in a burst of speed as her right winds back. Might as well start it off with a simple jab. Her left foot digs into the ground as she neared Alex; her right arm fully taut and her body twisted. Like a spring, she launches her fist right for his face; her full body moving in unison to add as much power to her swing as possible. Such a big wild opening leaving her vulnerable to any counter, but she wants to get Alex into the match, and she wants to do it the only way she knows how: putting her all on the line.

Alex quickly realized two things as he saw Elyss zoom right up to him. First of all, he had no fucking clue what she was actually capable of. Was she stronger than him? Was she tougher? Was he gonna shatter her ribcage if he just decked her with an unrestrained punch? He had no idea, and that made this a little more concerning. The second thing he realized, however, was arguably just as pressing a concern.

She was way faster than him. Was everyone just doing leg day 24/7? Why was he the only one that seemed so God damn slow? Whatever, he couldn't keep thinking about that one for too long, but he also didn't have much more time to just dodge, so instead he just moved one foot back, letting himself roll with the punch and re-center soon after. That...hadn't hurt much. But he couldn't tell if that was because he rolled with it well or if it was her strength. Fuck.

Well, before he took too long and just let her keep up the assault, he quickly threw out a jab with his left hand, though it was only a feint for the much more focused uppercut that followed after from his right, aimed squarely for her solar plexus. It was definitely not thrown with the full force he could muster, given the sound barrier wasn't breaking or anything, but he'd still be surprised if the average schmuck could see that one coming.

Elyss may not have the strongest of fists compared to Alex’s durability or own power, but she has one thing, and that thing is grit. She notices that her punch didn’t send Alex back as she’d have liked, but she had also noticed his movement to soften the blow. He’s somewhat skilled, but she wonders if that’s instinct or training. Though, both seem to merge into one another during combat. If you have the training, your instincts will surely guide you with efficiency.

Her attack didn’t do much, that’s for sure, for Alex is quick to step back into her with a left. As a true boxer would, she didn’t back off at the sight of the jab; instead, as her right arm receded, she threw it down sideways into the way of his fist to catch the quick counter. However, it was just a feint that she quickly notices as her planted feet push off the floor barely causing the rising right to graze her chin instead of hitting her head on. Back she goes one step, two step, but before she reaches that third step, she locks her leg down stopping herself. Already, she’s noticed it. Alex isn’t that fast actually. Of course, fists at close range will appear faster than they actually are, but she read his movements far too easily for having little idea about his fighting style. He didn’t fully try to escape from her charge and simply made it easier to take it either. If that’s the case…

“Heh… Well then…” She sighs and starts bouncing on her feet rolling her shoulders. Why not take advantage of this? She throws a small smirk towards Alex nodding her head in a challenging manner in a small attempt to goad him into making the next move in this little bout. She even drops her guard.

“Almost got me there.”

Rolling his own shoulders once, Alex simply smirked right back at Elyss as she obviously goaded him. He might not have been the smartest guy around, but he'd been in more than enough fights to tell when someone was trying to bait him. Well, if she thought she was gonna be clever...

"Almost. I'm impressed, you took that one pretty well."

Of course, Alex didn't need to run fast to make a punch. Ulv had, after all taught him more than a few things. He took one singular breath, and then his stance got very sturdy, very quickly. His whole body tensed as he remembered the lessons Ulv had given him, and of course the time he spent perfecting it. He felt the force move from his foot, through his leg and into his torso, before all of it rolled right into his arm. And then...he swung.

His last punch had not broken the sound barrier, but this one most certainly made up for it. There was a practical thunderclap as his fist snapped forward, every muscle in his body put into this singular blow. The shockwave that followed was tremendous, far more powerful than the ones he had managed in Brazil. And, of course, it barrelled right toward Elyss.

"Guess it'd be rude to keep half-assing it."

Speed. That’s how she’ll win. Alex seems like a tankish individual to her. He’s hard to knock down and heavy handed, but if she can dance around him, keep him on his toes, then, maybe she could wear him down. Though, she can already tell that one punch from him will send her sprawling. What she did not expect was what Alex did next. She felt he didn’t put his all into those attacks, but she didn’t quite understand just how laid back he was at first.

Her eyes picked up on it; his tensing body, the way he seemed to be focusing, his movements, but her mind was not ready for the punch he threw. She felt her ears pop moments after his punch from the sheer sound of it alone. She couldn’t see it, but she instantly felt the danger flying right towards her. Dodge! Her mind yelled for her to react, do something, anything, but at that moment when she realized that she had lost this fight before it had even began, she saw something. The world seemed to melt away during those few seconds as she sees past memories: Ulv, Arianda, Shadin, Arkin… ‘It’s just like then, huh?’

The impact literally ripped the breath from her lungs and out of her throat there is little resistance before her feet lift from the ground and she is carried backwards in the air through the room towards the wall. No doubt Ulv’s place is strong enough to withstand the impact, but that is only more pain for Elyss as she’d hit the wall hard finding all the energy placed into her hitting her from both sides at full force. Barely a cry slips from her lips as she crumples to the ground in extraordinary pain. There she lies, still like a sleeping infant.

Hm. Alex had honestly expected her to dodge that, or at least to handle it better than she had. It wasn't the end of the world if he slammed her into the wall, he'd hit more than a few walls in his day with at least more force than that. But he figured if she wasn't moving, that was no good.

"Hey. Elyss."

He walked over to her now, not especially irritated and his stance back to its typical relaxed state. He studied her carefully, looking for any signs of actual serious external injury. That was good. He stopped in front of the fellow redhead, looking down to her with what could only really be described as a brotherly disapproval.

"Get up. What'd I tell you? Nobody's better than you. Now give me a 'fuck you' and get back up."

Alex knew she had that much in her. He'd seen that same fire in her that he had. He knew she could get back up if she really wanted to.
