» Name: Okuda Nobuyoki
» Titles: N/A
» Appearance Age: 18
» True Age: 628
» Gender: Male
» Affiliation/Rank: Gotei United | Fourth Division | Seated
» Appearance Description:
Head
Okuda has a very angular yet smooth face, worn upon it is an almost always stern expression though when around those he trusts he tends to lighten up a great deal. He has a small and pointed nose located in the center of his face. Below his nose is his mouth, with thin lips. Above his nose are his eyes, the pupils are the color of sapphire whilst he has thin eyebrows. On his left cheek he bares a pair of scars that form a cross shape.
His head is framed by orange-red hair, kept long the top portion of his head is relatively bushy and wild, though perfectly coiffed so as to frame his face without getting too much in the way of his eyesight. In the back he keeps it relatively long, about down to his mid back or the start of his lower back. He also keeps his hair tied together with a black or sometimes blue or white piece of string in a sort of loose pony tail.
Body
Okuda stands at 158cm or five feet and two centimeters tall, weighing in at a dismally small 48kg or one hundred and six pounds, the man does not cut an impressive silhouette. Though in his former life as an assassin for the Ishin ShiShi Patriot movement that lead to the Meiji Era in Japan this served him well. He possesses a very pale complexion bordering on porcelain.
Clothes
Okuda dresses as most Shinigami do, he is often seen wearing a black Shihakushō, beneath it he wears a white kimono top. The Shihakushō is left relatively loose on the top section, with the black and white kimono parts reaching all the way down to his midsection, just a about an inch or two above where the top of his pelvic girdle would be. On his legs he wears a black set of hakama that cover almost all the way down his legs, leaving only the bottoms of his shins down exposed. He wears white socks on his feet with straw tabi on his feet.
On his waist he keeps a loosely tied white obi belt, more for symbolic purposes than anything else. On his left hip he keeps his Zanpakutō. He is rarely if ever seen without his Zanpakutō as he views it as a mandatory part of his life as a Shinigami.

I. Personality
» Personality:
Calm
Okuda is a very calm person, it takes a great deal of effort to make him break his calm demeanor. Okuda tends to let most insults be like water on a duck’s back, simply falling off without any real notice. He is very much go with the flow and will strive to stay on everyone’s good sides without any real issues arising from things he does or says.
Collected
Okuda in addition to being very calm is also quite collected, allowing facts and logic to sway and dictate how he reacts to a situation. As such he can look at things from a more detached point of view, from a point of tactical clarity he can properly scale a battle and know where to go and what to do. He also tends to avoid social mishaps as he tends to see the entire situation before he opens his mouth.
Quiet
Okuda is very quiet, often he will opt to say nothing to avoid sticking his foot in his mouth. By doing so he avoids getting into many a social faux pas that many of his contemporaries tend to find themselves in. However his quiet sometimes can also lead him to being in such a social faux pas in its own way or he can sometimes be urged into speaking by his friends.
Opponents
When it comes to how he handles his opponents in a battle, he will show no mercy. Okuda retains his memories of how he fought when he was still alive and will use many of his same skills augmented by his new found Shinigami and Vizard abilities. He tends to relay more on his swordsmanship skills than his Reiatsu based ones for his combat, but finds the use of Shunpo to be an excellent addition to his speed.
Allies
When it comes to those allied with Okuda, he will strive to see to it that as many as possible survive a fight, he also tends to view them as simply people who share an ideal and will be as likely to ignore them as he is to interact with them, not seeing them as anything special simply because he has some commonalities with them.
Friends
Okuda is very protective of his friends, he is willing to bend himself backwards for them and go out of his way to protect or help them in anyway he can. However, he is also very picky with those he calls his friends, and is someone that if you should betray his trust then he will never trust you again.
Loved Ones
If you are a loved one, meaning a wife or child – be it adopted or natural born – Okuda will kill himself to protect them. He will do anything to save them and see to it that they are safeguarded and well taken care of. He tends to view these people as those who shall not ever see the hardships of combat nor the hardships of life...or afterlife.

» History:
Birth
Okuda was born in the year 1853 and originally given the name Kawakami by his parents, during the waning years of the Edo Era. He never really met his mother and father, as shortly after their birth the two were killed either by bandits or disease or just bad luck. Okuda never had the means to look into their fates or why they never cared for him. However shortly after his birth he would find himself in the care of a caravan of travelling slaver’s.
Early Life
Okuda, then still known as Kawakami, was treated relatively well as a child slave of the caravan, made to do basic menial chores and such. He was given to the custody of three fellow older female slaves: Natsumi, Sakura and Megumi. For a few years everything was more or less peaceful, though the group would never stay in one spot for too long. It was clear even to young Okuda that the world was heading for war, though he did not know how to express such thoughts at such a young age. Though things would take a turn for the worse shortly after his sixth birthday in the year 1855.
Meeting Sensei
A week after his sixth birthday, the caravan that Okuda was part of was suddenly and brutally attacked by a group of bandits. The bandits were merciless in their slaughter of everyone in the group, the three women that Okuda was in the care of did all they could to protect him but they too were slaughtered mercilessly before his eyes. The small child had thought it was his lot in life to meet a similar fate when suddenly a large man wearing western clothes came from nowhere and slaughtered the bandits singlehandedly.
Okuda, shocked, that his life had been spared barely was able to mutter out his own thanks to the man. The man disappeared as quickly as he had appeared to save the child. However, he returned a week later and found that everyone, bandits and slaves alike, had been buried by the child. Natsumi, Sakura and Megumi had all been given the only grave markers of the lot, being given crosses made of whatever wood the child could move into position and held aloft by a series of rocks at their bases.
This moved the man who had arrived, after pouring a bit of his Sake onto each of the three graves he renamed Kawakami to Okuda and said he would take the boy in and train him in the way of his sword: Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū. Okuda said little, just another small “thank you”. His tear stained face staring forward at the graves, making a silent promise to become strong enough to make sure this never happened to others.
Training
Over the next few years Okuda trained himself hard, making sure to give everything his all. He was taught day in and day out, his speed and skill with the blade steadily rose with each passing day. His hands blistered and his flesh hardened. He quickly moved from basic training with a wooden sword to a real one. His teacher was impressed with how quickly the child would pick up the sword skills presented to him. Eventually Okuda would master all but the final two techniques of the tree, though his training would come to an abrupt end due to the now begun Meiji Revolution that had begun in the majority of the country.
The Decision
Tired of living a safe life of seclusion in a snowy mountain cabin somewhere in Japan, Okuda decided he could no longer overlook the war and the casualties that were mounting with each battle. He had made his opinion known that he wished for not only himself but his teacher to get involved with the war and fight to help bring the war to a quick end. Okuda wanted to use their swordsmanship to help bring about the end of the oppressive rule of the Shogunate. However, his teacher was firmly against it, this lead to one fateful night where the two argued loudly both sides of their point. This culminated in Okuda leaving the tutelage of his teacher, the closest thing to a father he had ever known.
Assassin
Over the next three years the young Okuda had become one of the most gifted assassin’s in the entire Ishin Shishi patriot movement. Quickly racking up a number of kills, a good number of them high profile. He fought many battles, even partook in various meetings as a bodyguard for the leader of the patriot movement. Okuda however would soon find that his Sake would soon taste like blood, meaning something was going wrong in his heart, that the war was corrupting him. Eventually in the year 1868 the war would come to a close, bringing about the end of his life as an Assassin.
Life After War
Okuda decided he wanted no big rewards and soon disappeared after the Meiji Government had been installed in the country and the last hold outs of the Shogunate had been rooted out. Okuda spent the next ten years following this wandering the country, avoiding killing whenever possible, he helped anyone he could reach with his sword however he could be it by simply doing a few basic chores around their home to forcing yakuza bosses to stop harassing poor families.
Okuda continued this life till one day, in Tokyo he was walking through the town when all of a sudden he met the woman who would become his wife eventually, she had mistaken him for a murderer that had been using his old alias from the war. The two eventually would go on to successfully stop the man. Okuda would somewhat settle down and start living with the woman, a strong bond forming slowly over time. Okuda would during this time take down a corrupt businessman that was selling guns on the black market and stop another former assassin for the Ishin Shishi patriot movement, going so far as to return to his old teacher and learn the final techniques of the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū swordstyle. After this, Okuda’s life would calm down for some time.
Death
Five years later, Okuda would be called to fight once more in the military for yet another war, this time against a reformed Shogunate movement. Okuda heeded the call reluctantly and picked up the sword that he had put down for a number of years. However, his skills would not be enough to see him safely through the war. Okuda would die during one of the final battles of the war, shot numerous times, his final thoughts were of his wife back in Tokyo.
Afterlife
Okuda would spend the next hundred or so years wandering the human realm, his regrets at not seeing his wife one last time before he had died caused him to become a Jibakurei, a spirit who lingered and wandered the realm of the living. He for a time watched over his wife as she grew older and eventually had died, her life less happy but still filled as she moved on almost immediately to the next life. Okuda knew this would make him miserable, but did not seek out one of the Shinigami that he had seen floating about the country during his time as a spirit wandering the afterlife.
During this time, Okuda managed to evade many Hollow’s. However, one day, a Hollow managed to infect Okuda with its own Reiatsu, something that meant very little to the Samurai that was now for all intents and purposes a man out of time. The man would suffer no immediate illness, but the infection would fester inside of him, its true insidious curse would be seen sometime later.
Okuda would eventually decide that he had been watching the modern world advance and forget all about his life soon enough and would move on to the next life by way of a soul burial thanks to a Shinigami after one hundred and twenty years of wandering the country, tired of seeing people rise and fall. Tired of seeing the Japan he helped bring to fruition fall from its glory and instead become just another country full of corruption.
Soul Society
When he arrived in the Soul Society, Okuda would appear in the Kusajishi District in the North Rukongai. At first he was a bit taken aback by the sudden timewarp he seemed to have done, appearing in a version of Japan he felt was more familiar than the one he had just left. Though this did make him a bit happier, he still felt the same melancholy that it was not quite the life he should have had. He soon found himself in a small rundown shaft, only leaving to ever really get himself something to eat as he found even in the afterlife he was still hungry, though since he barely interacted with anyone he had no clue what this meant.
This was Okuda’s miserable existence for the next roughly four hundred years. Until one day, invader’s from some outside faction began to attack the entirety of the Soul Society. Okuda was content to sit in his shack and wait for one to try to kill him, when he saw and heard a small child begging for his life and attempt to escape from one of the invader’s whom was dead set on ending his life. Drawing his sword he quickly put an end to the life of the would-be child murderer. Okuda was then brought into the conflict full force, trying to defend those in the Kusajishi District as best he could.
Joining the Shinigami
After the conflict ended, Okuda was offered the opportunity to join the now reformed Gotei United. At first he was a bit put off by the idea of joining another military force, but was soon told that he would be able to better defend those innocents if he understood how to utilize his skills. As such, Okuda would give in and join the Shinigami Academy. There he excelled in Zanjutsu and skills with Hoho such as Shunpo as he was already used to fighting with a sword and moving at extreme speeds.
Life After Academy
After five years in the academy, Okuda would soon find himself graduating from the academy, he would be selected to join a variety of divisions thanks to his experiences when he was alive. Four of the seven divisions had expressed interest in his joining their ranks, they were the First Division known for enforcing the realm and its laws, the Fourth known for its combat prowess, the Fifth known for its stealth and information gathering and assassination missions and finally the seventh which directly worked to protect the living realm.
Okuda would eventually decide to join the combat based Fourth division. Though he did not like the choices he was given, he felt that he could do the most good in the combat division where he could be moved to wherever they needed skilled swordsmen, that and he knew that he could count on those in the division to hold their own in a fight if it came down to it.
Meeting Shinda-en and Asahi
Sometime after joining the Fourth Division, Okuda would be training his Kido based skills, attempting to get better with them, when he found himself suddenly forced into his Inner World, a place he had never been to before. There he met the spirits that resided inside of him, Asahi the spirit of his Zanpakutō as well as Shinda-en, the Inner Hollow that had manifested itself first some four hundred years ago. In this Inner World the spirits told him that he would need to fight Shinda-en to prove his worth over his own body.
Though he did not want to fight this battle, he knew he had no choice and he was forced to fight the Inner Hollow whilst Asahi watched from a nearby building, commenting and explaining what all was going on, who they were and what was going on. The fight continued for what felt like days, but was really only seconds, with both Okuda and Shinda-en awakening to use the Shikai form of Asahi. The battle was eventually won by Okuda, though just barely. As such however, Okuda was permitted to stay in control of his body, but with one benefit and a warning. The benefit was that Okuda could now summon the mask of the hollow and use its strength as a benefit. The warning was from Asahi, and that was that the Hollow would continue to try to take over his body, that he would watch this happen or Okuda would prove his true dominance and force not only Asahi but the Inner Hollow to submit to his will.
I. Natural Abilities
» Natural Abilities:
- Master Swordsman
Superhuman Speed
Keen Eyesight/Tracking
Master of Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū
I. Racial Abilities
» Racial Abilities:
- General Skills
Durability: Okuda is not very durable, even when he was alive he utilized his speed to avoid damage more than anything. As such even in the afterlife whilst his durability is a bit higher now, it is still below average at best compared to his equals in a fight. Okuda as such tends to fight by trying to avoid taking damage as much as he can either by going on the offensive or by dodging using his speed.
General Speed: When Okuda was alive his speed was one of the two things he was most known for, he had a speed that many could only describe as supernatural. As such when he died and became a Spirit his speed only increased even more to a point where he was almost as fast as a Shunpo by default. Okuda is partially able to attain these speeds because of his smaller frame as well as his training in his chosen sword fighting style the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū.
Strength: Okuda is not physically strong, his strength is thankfully higher than average if only because of the training he put his body through to attain his levels of speed and to withstand the effects of said speed. Okuda is because of this at about an average level of strength, nothing too great to write home about when looked at by others however.
Weapon Skill: Okuda’s skill with a sword when he was alive was almost unparalleled, very few could go toe to toe with the assassin for long when it came to matching his skills with a blade. Thanks to his training to master the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū, his speed naturally went up alongside his skill with a sword, as such he can wield almost any bladed weapon in a way that would leave many in awe. In his afterlife, Okuda has retained these skills and as such when it came to his academy days in learning to wield a Zanpakutō, the man had an advantage.
Shinigami Skills
Hoho: Thanks to his high speed when he was alive, his natural abilities when learning Hoho were quite apparent. When someone is naturally fast and able to move well at high speeds, it only made sense that they would be able to understand the basics of improving that speed even moreso once they understood their own new spiritual powers. This is what happened with the young academy student known as Okuda. His skills with Hoho and as an extension Shunpo were naturally above those of his compatriots. The red-haired man is easily one of the fastest people of his age group and as such uses it often in his combat style.
Kidō: Okuda was never a very spiritual person, even after becoming a spirit, when he was in the academy his ability to manipulate his Reiatsu for the various Kidō was below average, always needing to utilize the full length chants and incantations to use even some of the more basic Kidō techniques outside of Shunpo or Hoho related ones.
Zanjutsu: Given that he was regarded as a Master of the blade as a living mortal, his skills naturally came with the man when he passed on to the next life, though some might argue due to his time spent hiding out in the Rukongai that his skills have dulled a bit. However, the man is still regarded as one of the better duelists “alive” in the Soul Society, especially considering his position and how young he is still. The man however does still prefer to fight with his Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū instead of the classical fighting style of the Soul Reapers.
Hakuda: Okuda was never one for fighting hand to hand, though he could do it, he preferred to use his blade. When he was alive he was at best an adept compared to those who trained their bodies and focused themselves into honing their hand to hand art. As such when he began life in the Soul Society and as a Shinigami the man was forced to learn to a degree the Hakuda fighting style that was apparently prevalent in this realm, as such his skills with his hands could be considered on par with the average Shinigami, or a bit better if you add in his speed at which he can move himself.
Vizard Skills
Power Augmentation: Okuda is a relatively new Vizard still, only recently having started really having any communication with his Inner Hollow, he is barely able to make the Inner Hollow listen to him, instead his Zanpakutō’s spirit Asahi is more likely to convince the Inner Hollow to do a thing than Okuda himself is. Okuda as such is still trying to gain full control of his Inner Hollow abilities in general.
Cero: Okuda has fired a Cero a total of once, on accident. He has since then had trouble trying to create another one. However he is constantly practicing in secret when he can to learn how to better control it and aim it. The power of the Cero itself was never too powerful as far as Okuda was able to figure. The Vizard continues to practice the technique and wants to master this ability eventually as he knows it will help him out in the long haul.
Mask Protection: Unlike his durability, somehow Okuda’s Mask protection is a bit higher than the average Vizard when he dons his mask. Okuda as such constantly attempts to work with his Mask in training when possible so he can try to increase the strength of his own defenses with his Mask. He finds it somewhat reassuring to know that he can defend himself better just by summoning his mask to help him in combat in both offense and defense.
Hollow Control: As Okuda has only met his Inner Hollow a few times, he has yet to befriend or force it to submit to his will. As such he often tries to avoid using his Mask when he does not have some sort of safety net in place should he go out of control. When he has time, the Vizard tends to try to meditate and enter his Inner World to meet with his Inner Hollow, Shinda-en. The Inner Hollow is naturally a more docile one but has chosen to obey the Zanpakutō spirit more so than Okuda himself, however Okuda has managed to win a bit of the Spirit’s trust, enough that he can safely pull the mask on for a short period of time.
Hollow Skills
Acid Skill: Okuda has little to no skill utilizing his acid skill, other than keeping it locked away for fear of causing too much damage to those he does not intend to harm. He has enough skill with the ability to turn it on or off but that is about it at this moment in time. Okuda is afraid of the skill at this point in his afterlife.
Garganta: When it comes to his skills with the Garganta skill, Okuda has used it several times, mostly to travel from the Soul Society to the Living Realm when it suited him. He has found this ability quite handy for himself but has not yet gotten to a point where he can utilize it in combat, as such he aims to train himself to be able to use the Garganta skill rapidly in combat for short range teleportation basically or to mislead his opponents.
Cero/Bala: Okuda has fired a Cero a total of once, on accident.
Regeneration: Okuda has thankfully not been in a fight severe enough to require him to make use of his Regeneration skills since he awoke his Vizard mask. As such he is very much untrained in its uses as such he can only really utilize it to heal small wounds such as cuts and lacerations or bruises maybe a broken bone if he concentrates. This is something he hopes to never need to use as that means a great many things have had to have gone wrong in his life to make him need the regeneration skill outside of minor cuts and wounds.
Will Skills
Willpower/Determination: Okuda suffered many hardships in his time in the living world, as such his will power has risen dramatically compared to most, as such he can take a shock that would cripple many mentally in stride, though he does still have his limits. Such as seeing a loved one falling to an opponent. Okuda views his Will Power as above those of his peers, though he knows he can still be shaken and as such aims to train himself to better be able to withstand such shocks until he can become a rock of mental security.
Mental Deduction: Whilst he is not a genius by any such means, he is quite a smart man still. He has had several people, both in his life and his afterlife, attempt to sway him utilizing their various mental attacks to make him become their puppets as such he has learned to see past what is just surface level, to help him fight back mentally when it comes to being assaulted or to see things in a tactical point of view. His mind however is more geared towards surviving a fight than it is towards investigating an area, as such his mind will spot the locations of tactical advantage for himself and his allies usually when he enters a room.
Focus: As a former Samurai and Assassin in his former life, Okuda is able to better focus his mind than most. He knows how to achieve inner peace enough to focus his mind for a singular task. As a Samurai he trained his mind to focus itself to a singular point and how to keep that focus, this training in his focus allowed Okuda to learn how to predict the movements of others when he was fighting them, a skill that came in handy whilst he was still alive as a human being.
I. Sealed Zanpakutō
» Zanpakutō Name: Asahi (朝火 lit. Morning Fire)
» Zanpakutō Spirit Appearance:
» Zanpakutō Spirit Personality: Asahi has a very simple personality, he is very much the polar opposite of Okuda, he wants to see the world burn to nothingness, to see the doors of hell open for everyone that dares to exist in the physical and spiritual worlds whilst he is trapped within the weapon of a walking contradiction. Asahi believes in might makes right and will see to it that his Wielder will constantly be made stronger in order to continue claiming such a thing. Though let it not be questioned: Asahi hates even Okuda’s mere existence and if he were given the option to switch places with the man he would in a heartbeat. Asahi represents the skills imparted to Okuda by his Sensei of the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū, the harsh training having created a sort of personality shift in the still living man and helped to birth the inner hollow.
» Inner World: The inner world of Okuda’s Zanpakutō is one that is very much relevant to Okuda’s life when he was still alive. It is small fishing village near one of the coasts of Japan from Feudal Era Japan, specifically from the Meiji Restoration. The village is made of wood and some concrete in some places. Like any other Inner World there are no people beyond Okuda and Asahi inhabiting the village at any given time. In the center of the village is a small pillar with a statue depicting Asahi standing above Okuda, surrounded by fire, the fire activating when Asahi deems it.
The sky is a deep crimson color reminiscent of blood or sometimes fire depending on the time of day. The clouds are black on their undersides and white on top. When everything is going as it should be the clouds move in a west to east pattern, when Okuda is troubled they instead move south to north as if to simulate that everything is not as it should be. Finally at the very outskirts of the village there can be found the only signs of life in the Inner World: Burned Grass, still slightly burning at the ember level.
» Sealed Zanpakutō Appearance:
» Sealed Zanpakutô Powers:
Fire Manipulation – When his Zanpakutō is sealed Okuda has the ability to manipulate any flames that are already existing. He however can only control them at a basic level, enlarging them or shrinking the flames. He can also control their movement, but he is unable to create semi-constructs with them or make them move as he would later on in his Shikai or even his Bankai release.
Fire Resistance – Thanks to his Zanpakutō’s abilities Okuda has a natural resistance to fire and heat. As it stands at this point Okuda is able to withstand temperatures up to eleven hundred degrees celcius (1,100°C), around the same temperature of his Zanpakutō’s abilities that would affect him.
I. Shikai
» Shikai Release Phrase: Scorch the Earth, Asahi!
» Shikai Release Actions: Okuda grips the base of his Zanpakutō’s blade, just enough that the blade does not break his skin and says “Scorch the Earth, Asahi!”
» Shikai Appearance: Okuda’s physical appearance does not change much when he enters his Shikai state, however his Zanpakutō does change, the blade of his Zanpakutō appears to be molten in its looks, glowing red along the edge with the black scabbing of heating the blade appearing along its spine, as if the blade was not finished being forged. When he uses any of his Shikai abilities the blade becomes alight with flame.
» Shikai Abilities:
Honō no tama – Taking the flame from his sword, Okuda can form small solidified balls of flame, the orbs of flame are about the size of the users open hand. These orbs can be controlled by Okuda’s will alone, acting almost independently of him at times. Okuda can create ten of these orbs at any given time before he exhausts himself and must rest for at least three turns. Upon contact with a target or object the orbs explode with the force of a standard fragmentation grenade. Each Orb can last for about three turns before it dissipates.
Hi no senpū – the flames around Okuda’s sword suddenly swirl into a whirlwind around his blade, the width of the whirlwind can be changed by Okuda at will, from a small and narrow spiral just barely larger than his blade to a wide berthed tornado. The Width of the attack at its smallest is about the same width of his blade. The length can also be changed at will from just taller than the tip of the blade to about three feet taller than his blade itself. When using a larger version of this however, the power is cut by 1/3 for each additional foot of length or width. Okuda can offset the power loss by adding more of his spiritual power to the attack.
Honō Iai – The most basic ability, Okuda has the ability to draw his blade from his scabbard, sending a thin but tall wave of flames or a short but wide wave of flames towards his opponent(s). The attack does little damage, but has a range of 50-meters in any one direction before it fizzles out. At this point in time, the size of the attack is consistent being the same length of Okuda's blade and about as thick.
Reforge – When the blade is broken in Shikai as long as at least FIFTY PERCENT (50%) of the blade remains, Okuda can reforge the blade on the spot with no detriment to his fighting ability, though doing this consumes an equivalent amount of the blade he repairs. This ability can only be used once per 24 hour period.
I. Bankai
» Bankai Name: Sōchō Asahi (早朝朝火 lit. Early Rising Morning Fire)
» Bankai Release Phrase: Immolate the Universe, Sōchō Asahi
» Bankai Release Actions: (What kind of action does your character perform to enter Bankai? This is optional.)
» Bankai Appearance:
» Bankai Abilities: (What abilities does your character attain in Bankai?)
I. Inner Hollow/Mask
» Inner Hollow Name: Shinda-en (死んだ炎 lit. Dead Flame)
» Inner Hollow Description:
» Inner Hollow Personality: The Inner Hollow, Shinda-en, is actually subservient to the dark being that is Asahi, often seen standing with the spirit when he is around. The Spirit is a fighter on par with both Asahi and Okuda as he is technically just a part of them both. Shinda-en prefers to believe whatever Asahi tells him, as such he views those who are victorious as those who are right. However, he has no emotions to speak of, always wearing a fake smile the boy tends to speak in a positive way and rarely is seen emoting outside of a fake happiness. Shinda-en seems to be a personification of Okuda’s childhood that was taken from him in the Realm of the Living during the various wars he lived through, the abuse he faced as an orphan and then the harsh training he endured as a child.
» Inner Hollow Powers:
Fuhai-en (腐敗 焰 lit. Corrupt Flame): Shinda-en grants Okuda the ability to generate corrputed versions of his flames, these are black in color for his normal abilities whilst granting new normal powers. When the Corrupted Flame is applied to an existing attack it turns into a pitch black flame that becomes harder to extinguish, doubling the effective burn time of any attack.
» Hollow Mask Appearance:
» Vizard Powers:
Flame Shihakushō (焰死覇装 lit. Flame Garment of Dead Souls) – When in sync with his Inner Hollow, Okuda has the ability to create a Shihakushō made of pure flames that covers his regular Shihakushō. As its made of flames the Shihakushō is a red-orange color. The Flame Shihakushō protects from most attacks by incinerating any physical attack, for example if the item is made of a natural wood the wooden object will almost certainly incinerate. If an item is made of metal, the metal will super heat and likely melt. This Shihakushō also grants Okuda increased Fire Resistance. If an opponent should touch his flame Shihakushō directly with no fire resistance the damage behaves as a flame attempting to inflict a third degree burn to the part of the body at the least and at worst be set aflame, this is determined by the opponent’s durability and resistances. This ability can only be used when using his Hollow Mask.
Hi Kyōka Sokudo (火強化速度 lit. Fire Enhanced Speed) – When utilizing this ability with his mask on and in sync with his Inner Hollow, Okuda gains the ability move swifter, his body now exude’s heat and as such the very ground he stands on begins to soften thanks to the heat he exudes. This allows him to move, but opponents who touch that same ground will begin to sink down into it. The ground will begin to cool and harden one turn after Okuda leaves the spot he was standing on and will be fully cooled after two more turns. The width of the trail is about shoulder length, one to two feet wide. Okuda at this time cannot control the width of the trail. Okuda must be wearing his Hollow Mask to use this ability.
Kuroi honō (黒い炎lit. Black Flame) – After being touched by the Inner Hollow, Okuda’s flame becomes black in color and its strength increases. The flames once they touch something can burn for as long as Okuda has Reiatsu, at this point in time, that is roughly ten posts, and is within a one kilometer radius.
Chūkū no hai (中空の灰 lit. Hollow Ashes) – Okuda gains the ability to influence the ashes that his flames make thanks to the Inner Hollow. This ability is limited at this time to making the ashes go in a general area. Should the Ashes touch anything besides Okuda the Ash will attempt to burn the skin similar to a first degree flame, if inhaled or ingested by any means the opponent will burn their lungs and likely attempt to purge the ashes from them by vomiting in addition to the same first degree burns.

I. Roleplay Sample
» Role Play Sample:
Okuda found himself suddenly in a world that both looked familiar and yet not. He found himself in a place where the land was that of a small fishing village and the sky was tinted red. As the Shinigami looked around the area, he soon found himself standing in what could only be described as the village center, where a statue of him seeming to look subservient to a man covered in bandages with flames dancing around its base. Okuda wondered what was going on with this situation, he was concerned about what it could mean.
Okuda seemed confused when a man behind him began to clap, Okuda quickly turned, his right hand shooting to the hilt of his Zanpakutō as his hair flew behind him. Standing before him was the living version of the statute and a boy wearing mostly blue. “Welcome...Master...HAHAHAHA!” suddenly laughed the man in bandages. Okuda inspected both men, they both wielded what looked to be Okuda’s very own Zanpakutō, a disconcerting notion since that meant both of them were Shinigami of some sort. But he was not quite sure what was going on. He then slowly lowered himself into a stance of the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū style.
“Who are you both? What do you want with me...where are we?!” Demanded Okuda, his sapphire blue eyes bouncing from the bandaged one to the boy. He was outnumbered, but he knew that he had fought in worse situations than this. His right hand hovered over his Zanpakutō’s hilt as his left hand gripped its scabbard, pushing his thumb lightly against the tsuba, waiting for an answer from either one. “You wish to know what is going on Master? Fine, I’ll let my...friend here inform you!” Said the bandaged man as the smaller boy suddenly mimicked Okuda’s pose and stared him down.
Okuda did not wish to make the first move, and was surprised a bit by the boy taking up his stance. Suddenly, the boy spoke for the first time “I am Shinda-en, and we shall be battling for control of your body now...that is what my Lord wishes of us.” Okuda had many questions, but he knew the boy was likely not to give him a single answer beyond what he had just given. Without hesitation the Shinigami struck out, drawing his blade and slashing at the blue boy with all his speed and strength, both natural and spirit powered...

THE VIZARD TEMPLATE
Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū
飛天御剣流
飛天御剣流
Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū (飛天御剣流, Flying Heavenly Sword Style) is one of the oldest kenjutsu styles from the period known as Sengoku Jidai, or the Warring States Period. It was created to allow a single samurai to defeat numerous foes by themselves. This style is rooted in the concept of Ichi no tachi, or to strike in a single blow. Practitioners of this style use a combination of immense speed and agility, otherwise known as Shinsoku, battōjutsu as well as acquired, observation-based pseudo-clairvoyance that permits a user to anticipate their opponent’s movements. Both offensive and defensive maneuvers are performed with the smallest movement to raise the user’s ability to counter-attack as well as to conserve energy.
Shinsoku, otherwise known as Godspeed, is the act of moving at a superhuman speed whilst using agility to keep yourself upright and on target. This makes use of the users senses to keep track of the battle around them. Shinsoku is merely a moniker given to the speed of the technique by regular human beings who could not visibly keep up with the user as it seemed that God themselves were aiding in the users movement. Myth and Legend have brought this renown of this up to great heights, but as Okuda was one of the last living Master’s of the technique it has long since been forgotten in the mortal realm.
• Ryūtsuisen (龍槌閃, Dragon Hammer Flash) – Usually initiated by a powerful jump, this technique places its user above the opponent, thus opening up more vulnerabilities in the latter. This technique's practitioner uses the momentum of his fall to strengthen a two-handed sword swing that brings his blade down on his enemy's head or shoulder.
• Ryūtsuisen ● Zan (龍槌閃・惨, Dragon Hammer Flash: Disaster) –Beginning in the same way as Ryūtsuisen, the user positions the sword as to initiate a downward stab to the head instead of a downward swing.
• Ryūkansen (龍巻閃, Dragon Coil Flash) –Most effective when surrounded by enemies as this technique has the user spin to attack in all directions. It can also be used as a counterattack against a thrust or charge, one sidesteps a forward-moving opponent and moves past them. In doing so, one spins in a full circle, adding momentum and centrifugal force to the strength of the sword swing, which is then aimed at either the opponent's back or the back of the neck.
• Ryūkansen ● Tsumuji (龍巻閃・旋,Dragon Coil Flash: Hair Whirl) –One of the variations of Ryūkansen, Ryūkansen Tsumuji, like its other variations, is most effective as a counter attack; but can be used as an offensive attack. Unlike the original, Tsumuji involves a forward horizontal spin in a drilling motion like a torpedo, from which the user is able to strike at the opponent's midsection while in flight.
• Ryūkansen ● Kogarashi (龍巻閃・凩, Dragon Coil Flash: Wintry Wind) –An alternate version of Tsumuji involves a single small side-step coupled with a 90-degree pivot turn inward and a back handed slash that quickly blasts the foe away; unlike the original version which is a full 180-degree full spin and slash. The Kogarashi is the quickest of the four variations, however, the weakest as well. It is the ideal Counter Attack when dealing with a faster or unreadable attack.
• Ryūkansen ● Arashi (龍巻閃・嵐, Dragon Coil Flash: Storm/Tempest) – A variation of the normal Ryūkansen, this technique places the swordsman in a full rolling somersault slash while attacking, making it an effective Counter Attack against downward slash attacks and/or from above.
• Ryūshōsen (龍翔閃, Dragon Soar Flash) – The opposite of Ryūtsuisen, Ryūshōsen is a rising attack meant to strike the jaw from below. For additional power, one uses one's free arm to apply force to the back of the blade and utilizes a powerful upward jump during the attack akin to an anti-air attack.
• Ryūtsui ● Shōsen (龍槌・翔閃, Dragon Hammer-Soar Flash) –A combination of Ryūtsuisen and Ryūshōsen, Ryūtsui-Shōsen begins with the powerful jump and supported upswing of Ryūshōsen, giving the leap enough power to pass one's opponent in mid-air, and on the returning drop, Ryūtsuisen is performed.
• Ryūsōsen (龍巣閃, Dragon Nest Flash) – A massive flurry of strikes delivered to the opponent. The sheer speed of the slashes makes this technique difficult to counter or defend, and is considered best to wear down more sturdy and enduring opponents with. There is an alternate version called:
◦ Ryūsōsen ● Garami (龍巣閃・咬, Dragon Nest Flash: Gnawing) – A technique that which targets the foe's head.
• Doryūsen (土龍閃, Earth/Land Dragon Flash) –A ranged attack, Doryūsen strikes an opponent outside of the user's range by striking the ground and sending earthen debris at said opponent with knockout force.
• Kuzuryūsen (九頭龍閃, Nine-Head Dragon Flash) – A dashing attack that uses Shinsoku (Godspeed) to simultaneously strike all nine vital spots on the foe's body from a normal kendō stance, as each of these nine points are the main targets for different swordstyles (only different styles target different ones). It is said to be unavoidable and nearly unblockable, though this is not true, the attacks are just all coming in at such a high speed and velocity that it is extremely difficult to dodge. The Kuzuryūsen is taught as a prerequisite for the succession technique. Users who are faster than the Hiten Mitsurugi, however, are able to evade the attack head-on. The strength of the move's "nine heads" will differ greatly depending on the speed, force and even weight of the user.
◦ The nine heads of the targets are in counterclockwise while looking towards the target from the user's view:
● Karatake (唐竹/幹竹, Tang Bamboo/Tree Trunk Bamboo) Aimed at the above head with the downward strike: 壱 (ichi, one)
● Sakagesagiri (逆袈裟切り, Inverted Kasaya Cutter) Aimed at right shoulder diagonally: 弐 (ni, two)
● Miginagi (右薙, Right Mower) Aimed at right arm's center from the side: 参 (san, three)
● Migikiriage (右切上, Right Cutting Lift) Aimed at right arm's bottom/right wrist diagonally: 肆 (shi, four)
● Sakakaze (逆風, Inverted Wind) Aimed at groin area from below via upward stroke, or straight from front: 伍 (go, five)
● Hidarikiriage (左切上, Left Cutting Lift) Aimed at left arm's bottom/left wrist diagonally: 陸 (riku, six)
● Hidarinagi (左薙, Left Mower) Aimed at left arm's center from the side: 漆 (shitsu, seven)
● Kesagiri (袈裟切り, Kasaya Cutter) Aimed at left shoulder diagonally: 捌 (hatsu, eight)
● Tsuki/Shitotsu (刺突, Thrusting/Thorn Thrust) Aimed at center of the chest, at breastbone: 玖 (kyū, nine)
• Hiten Mugen Zan (飛天無限斬, Flying Heaven Infinity Slash) – An ancient and seemingly lost move used by the creator of Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū, Hiten Mugen Zan is a mighty charging onslaught of unrivaled power. Requiring the prerequisite of attaining the capability of natural beyond Shinsoku without the use of battojutsu, the user performs a myriad series of slashes that accelerate faster than other rapid slashing techniques like the Ryūsōsen, and are executed to beyond the spectrum of visible motion the naked eye can detect within splits of a second. Due to the nature of the required speed and force required to naturally accelerate beyond Shinsoku, pushing the user to the limits of their bodily ability, the final slash is augmented with such strength that it creates such tremendous impact capable of smashing, shifting, and razing the nearby earth before the user and crush rock, and the force with which the blade lands into the earth with is powerful enough to send its foe flying into the air, before the attack's full effects can take hold. In the eyes of bystanders, the sheer immeasurable execution speed of the technique gives the impression the final slash is seen as the only single slash delivered by the user, and in turn makes the collateral damage the attack leaves behind as the only spectacle of its evidence of performance.
Battōjutsu techniques
• Sōryūsen (双龍閃, Twin Dragon Flash) – Seemingly a simple Battōjutsu strike, Sōryūsen is the first of Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū's two-step Battōjutsu moves. After the first strike with the quickened sword, the user wields the empty sheath along the same path as a blunt weapon. After the sword strike lands, the sheath strike delivers a pulverizing blow capable of crushing bone and shattering wood, but if the sword strike misses, the sheath strike acts as powerful insurance, preventing an opponent's attack and delivering a crushing blow when it's least expected.
◦ Sōryūsen ● Ikazuchi (双龍閃・雷, Twin Dragon Flash: Thunder) – An alternate form of Sōryūsen wherein the sword is wielded while still inside the sheath. The first strike is made with the sheathed sword and, once it makes contact and occupies the opponent's sword, the sword is drawn using Battōjutsu for a second strike. While the original Sōryūsen is designed to make two strikes for versatile mobility in the heat of confrontation, Sōryūsen Ikazuchi appears designed with the assumption that the first strike will be blocked, and uses the full combined mass of a sheathed sword to strike to catch foes off guard and unbalance them vulnerable for the second strike.
• Hiryūsen (飛龍閃, Flying Dragon Flash) – After assuming a Battōjutsu stance, one rotates one's body rapidly and then stops, aiming the sheath at one's target. The force shoots the sword's grip out of the sheath like an arrow, allowing one to strike a target outside of one's zone and reach. As a battōjutsu move and as one that requires one's sword to be shot at the enemy, it can be assumed that accurate aim is required for this move (or else the weapon can easily be lost), and that the sheath can then be used as a melee weapon in a second strike, but the latter is not seen.
• Ryūmeisen (龍鳴閃, Dragon Cry Flash) – An unusual technique in which one uses the Godspeed of Battōjutsu to sheathe the sword rather than to draw it in a practice known as Shinsoku Nōtōjutsu (神速納刀術, Godspeed Sheathed Blade Technique). The speed and force create a miniature sonic boom that can be used to temporarily stun opponents with particularly sensitive or acute hearing by affecting their auditory nerves.
• Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki (天翔龍閃, Flash of the Heavenly Soaring Dragon) – The secret ultimate technique, a.k.a. the ōgi (奥義, secret skill) of Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū, Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki is a powerful Battōjutsu technique whose secret lies in discovering both the significance and insignificance of one's life, the penultimate requirement needed to master the Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū.
Though its form is that of any other Battōjutsu strike, the Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki differs in that - while a normal strike is performed by drawing the katana from its sheath on one side while stepping forward with the opposite foot, using a single step - However, this strike adds yet another step (a second step) mid-draw with the foot adjacent to the sheath (creating a Stutter-Step) which momentarily creates an instantaneous acceleration to the forward-charge as well as the sword draw. Meanwhile, the range of the attack is increased and the timing of the attack changes slightly, which can throw off the opponent.
Although truly, a super-sword attack, it endangers the user by possibly putting the adjacent leg into the free sword's path and draws one even closer to an opponent's sword than usual, but on the other hand, boosts the speed of the sword draw to beyond-Godspeed and even greater is the boost in force of the strike. By realizing one's insignificance and risking life and limb to protect something else while, at the same time, taking one's own, fragile human life into consideration, the user is able to step into the small margin behind one's own drawn sword and in front of the sword of one's opponent without fail, delivering a beyond-godspeed blow of monstrous power.
Additionally, like other Battōjutsu moves of Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū, Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki is a two-step move and, if its secret should be anticipated and the strike itself blocked or dodged, the second step comes immediately into effect. The immense force of the enhanced draw cuts the air in front of it and creates a powerful vacuum in its wake as the deflected air rushes back into place. Any opponent to deflect or dodge the first swing will automatically be subject to this vacuum and inexorably pulled closer to the user, all the while.
The Fangs of the Flying Dragon.
this vacuum creates intense winds powerful enough to overwhelm and catch their opponents off balance. With the great amount of force being applied to the Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki, a missed swing leads naturally into an accelerated spin of such centripetal force akin to the Ryūkansen. The added momentum of the spin in addition to the pulling force of the vacuum on both side results in a second strike that greatly dwarfs the first in power.
While the attack is incredibly powerful and seemingly undefeatable, the basis of Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki, the fighter's will to live and compassion for others allowing them to stand on the edge of life or death, must be strong, free, and unwavering of any doubt and turmoil that lies in the heart of the user. This state of mind is the only condition that will allow the Amakakeru Ryū no Hirameki to be executed flawlessly and guarantee their victory, as being out of this state only allows the user to execute lesser and flawed versions of the ultimate technique.
NOTE: All mentioning of speed is to be viewed as a comparison to a Tier 6 to Tier 5-4 Human.

Hono no Tama
This ability could use some more detail. Roughly how many of them can he make before he exhausts himself? How long do they last after being created? Do they explode, or are they simply balls of flame that disperse like water balloons when they hit a target?
Hi no Senpu
You specify the starting length of the ability (up to three feet of the blade's length), but not the width before the power starts cutting.
Hono Lai
Is he able to control the size of the flame that comes out? Is he able to make it smaller and more condensed to deal more damage, or is always the same consistent w
Flame Shikakusho + Hi Kyoka Sokudo
Shouldn't these be listed under Vizard powers? The Inner Hollow power section is for you to explain the general idea behind what powers your inner hollow has. For example, you could have a power listed as 'flame infusion' and then describe how his inner hollow can make fires on the outside of his body. This makes it so that later when you explain how Flame Shikakusho works, it's clear where the ability came from.
Flame Shihakusho
The Flame Shihakushō protects from most attacks by incinerating any physical item that comes near him that is made of wood.
This line should be changed away from the absolute of 'any physical item', to something like 'The Flame Shihakusho attempts to protect its wield from most attacks by burning wooden objects that come near his body. Natural wood would be incinerated on contact.'
If an opponent should touch his flame Shihakushō directly with no fire resistance they will gain a third degree burn to the part of the body at the least and at worst be set aflame
'will gain a third degree burn' is an absolute, please change to 'the damage behaves as a flame attempting to inflict a third degree burn'.
You also should give some additional details, such as whether this is an active or passive ability (can he turn it on and off), if it gets doused or something similar can he relight it, etc.
Hi Kyoka Sokudo
Roughly how large is the area around where Okuda is stepping when he uses this ability? Is he able to change/fluctuate the size of the area?
Kuroi Hono
I'd be more comfortable with this having a general post length range instead of 'for as long as Okuda has Reiatsu'. Otherwise, this is fine.
Chuku no Hai
This ability feels really left-field. I can understand manipulating the ashes, but not how they wind up poisoning the opponent. If the ashes were to, say, allow for his fire to burn more intensely once they stick to a target or something like that, it would make more sense.
If you are going to keep the poison route, though, then there are a couple of things:
1. Function: Is this expecting for the ash to be absorbed through the skin? If this is a requirement for the poison to affect them, pleases ay so.
2. Please flesh out what you mean by 'based on durability and physiology'. Its fine to list those as conditions, just explain what those degrees of effect are, relative to whatever stat is in control of the skill.
3. Degree of intensity: If ingested, I would expect the effects to be much more dramatic than if they were absorbed through the skin.
4. Poison: If you are going to continue to describe it as a poison, there are a couple of things you'll need to flesh out further: How it accumulates over time in its target and how long it takes to flush out of the target. You may be better off describing it as a nauseous inducing-agent instead of a poison.
Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu
So this section contains references to Kenshin the series; those need to be removed. I'm a little disappointed you pulled them directly from the wiki, though they are martial skills; some of them may be higher grade than a Shinigami at your character's starting level should have access to with a lower Zanjutsu skill. Remove the references to the series and we'll talk about it further from there.

You may start with access to Okuda's Shikai form, but it is as strong of a Shikai as one who has just learned their sword's name. As a side note, I talked with Kazetora about the 'unavoidable' mention in Kuzuryusen; it is not mechanically so, and he is aware of that.
Have fun!
