Shihoin and Kuchiki Clandestine Meeting
Sat Sep 14, 2019 9:50 pm
The Silent Kuchiki
Takehiko Kuchiki
Takehiko had decided to make a move a rather risky gamble to be sure. But he disliked what had happened with Henrex that much. He was a good hardworking Captain. And he would see his honor and dignity restored. This blight on his reputation was unwarranted. So there was a body that didn't exist entirely within the Gotei. The Noble Houses and two of them reigned high above others. The Shihoin were such as were the Kuchiki. Takehiko had sent a letter of introduction to come see them. He would make any bargain or deal needed. To help his elder brother and mentor. So now it was time for him to begin making his case. He'd known about the male being kicked out. So that part was a well-known fact to many people now. So many now knew what happened to Henrex. But he wasn't done with his crusade just yet. There was one more ally potent and effective they could have. The Shihoin family and their leader. Takehiko explained in his letter of introduction that he wished to study Hakuda. Unlike his Uncles both who were an excellent swordsman. The young Kuchiki was lacking in this regard.
So thus, the letter included a request for training. He'd been escorted into the building by shinobi. Beings who served the house with an immense fever. Much like in the past the Kuchiki had such. Sitting down in the room Takehiko felt his palms sweat. He'd never met a noble before especially on this. He didn't trust Captain Kyoraku anymore. Everything had been made rather plain for him with the news. Deciding what to do from that moment on. Takehiko hadn't dared visit here with his uncle in the know. Because firstly his Uncles opinion had some..consequences due to Yoruichi and his strained relationship. Takehiko held no such problem or issue and he was a Kuchiki. But also an Unabara, holding a rather strange spot in things. The Nephew of Tsubasa Unabara and Byakuya Kuchiki made him an odd bloodline. But one none the less that existed here as he pondered what he was stepping in. This world was far apart from the one he'd seen or felt in his life.
Takehiko's letter did explain and introduce himself as such. Hoping that the Head o the Shihoin would hear him out. This was the only thing he could do at this moment for Henrex. The rest would have to wait for a while to begin. As of this moment, he couldn't do anything else. He lacked the power of a Captain. On that front, it was up to his Uncle Byakuya and maybe even his Uncle Tsubasa.

PAPA SHIHOIN
Prior to the impromptu visit from an unknown visitor, Papa had planned to get some planning done for some Gotei related things. For a long time he's just observed the Gotei and all of it's shenanigans since he's retirement after World War 3, though lately he's found himself with a newfound urge to help them out, just that he didn't know how. Though now that his plans were postponed, he was a little annoyed. Takechi would easily figure this out because Papa entered the room by slamming the door open. A little too hard actually, as it fell onto the ground.
He didn't recognize this fellow.
"This better be worth my time." He stomped his way to across the kid and plopped down, the ground shaking as he did. "As you could expect, I have a lot on my plate. So please, in the least amount of words as possible, explain to me why you should even be considered to put on that same plate." Papa glared at the kid. It wasn't really needed and he secretly felt about about it, but he had to keep up the agree facade he walked in with. One of the few diplomatic skills he's learned over the years is to negotiate with confidence.
"Let me guess... Kuchiki? You people always walk around as if everyone has to work off your time, like you own the place or something." That was spoken in a low grumble, though Papa was loud enough that the kid could hear him still. He didn't really hate Kuchiki in particular or anything, just that his already bad mood was reflecting on this meeting, hoping that it would end quickly.

Takehiko Kuchiki
Takehiko lowered his head offering a polite bow. He didn't understand anything about his uncle. Uncle Byakuya had a weird relationship with the Shihoin Clan. So he couldn't grasp the situation. He'd returned from war only recently to this meeting. So he couldn't do much else. "I can't say as though anyone works..off my time. I think I normally work off theirs. " He said stuck in a momentary thought before blinking. "Oh right, few words as possible. Uh...crap..I'm not good at this.." He said shifting quickly trying to find papers. Before dropping them nervously on the ground. Takehiko turned red as he bowed again and spoke. "I think with the loss of Captains we of the Kuchiki and Shihoin should work together, to help gotei!" He said accidently shouting it out loud. If Kuchiki stood for grace and snobbiness. Takehiko stood for absolutely negative one hundred of it. He didn't have the suave or cunning of anyone of his family.
The tact and skill they handled themselves with. This clumsy kid just did not have that. "I've been training to become a Captain again so the Gotei may have a Shihoin and Kuchiki among them. But I fear that I'm inadequate in any form. With Henrex's dismissal from the Gotei, it's become evident that it's time for the new generation to step up. I would like to ask you what it means to be a Captain, sir. And see if there is anyone for the Kuchiki and Shihoin to work together to make this place better. Takehiko kept his head low having gotten control of his voice. He just didn't have that smooth nature of other Kuchiki. He was clumsy and nervous with a naivety to him. But he was hopeful and wanted to make a difference. That was Takehiko's ambition to help the Gotei again. He believed the Shihoin and Kuchiki should put this aside. Start working together and fixing the greater problems. His arm lay in a cast still and his foot was wrapped with bandages. Under his clothing, he was wrapped with more bandages for busted ribs.
Takehiko had returned from the situation within China and the rise of zombies.

PAPA SHIHOIN
Papa was known to be a good listener and was focusing on everything the kid was saying, though he didn't really share the same views. He seemed to be too rooted in the whole noble family aspect and tried to sell his idea based off that, which Papa wasn't really a fan of. The Kuchiki tend to have a strong sense of nobility, though the Shihoin didn't. So he was off to a bad start, lets see if he can save himself.
"Alas, I don't know if I'd be able to help you kid, and let me tell you, you're not really selling me here. You say that this captain has been removed from his position, which is a horrible occurrence and probably the first of it's kind, but what does that have to do with me. The Shihoin have had a pretty hands off relationship with the Gotei even since the eradication of our unit. Because of that, I don't mettle in their affairs nor do they mine. Next, what's in it for us? What do the Shihoin get by working with the Kuchiki here, because the rewards of a better world isn't something that we can use. As you could probably tell when you walked in here, we're pretty happy with the way things are. It's going to take resources and time to fix what you're proposing, and that stuff doesn't come free. So I ask you, why are you here?" Papa was in a very no nonsense mood at the moment and it was unfortunate that Takehiko would be the one he takes it out on.

Takehiko Kuchiki
Takehiko sighed a bit as he felt a weight escape him. What was the harm in asking anymore? He didn't have answers or understand it. He looked down at the lieutenant patch awarded too him. It wasn't a gift more of a burden than anything. He'd been given it for failing his duty to protect those people. The destructive potential was meaningless unless it saved people. "I..don't know how to do this, to be honest. I can repeat lines I rehearsed in front of a mirror too you." Takehiko said as his eyes looked just had a small glimmer of loss in them. "When I came back, from the front in China they said a good job. Let us promote you to Lieutenant. " He said before reaching and touching the wooden symbol. His fingers brushing against it softly. "I..understand where you are coming from..I'd never want my family in that position. " Takehiko smiled a bit with his sad smile coming across his face. "The Kuchiki, teach from a young age to be proper and always speak as confidently. I'm not, to be honest, so what I came here to ask you...is something that's plagued my mind for a while."
Takehiko was going to open up and be honest about it. He didn't know the answer to this. "Why are we noble, what makes me different from anyone else? My scores were the lowest in the academy. I can't fight with a sword or use Hoho that well. My skills are average, so why are we treated so differently? What does it mean to be a noble? Is it like Uncle Byakuya, am I supposed to press you to honor noble blood? What about the people who work hard from the bottom like me. Do we not deserve consideration? For how much we have worked and persevere?" Takehiko became silent for a moment closing his eyes. He didn't know what good getting it off his chest would do. He was a Kuchiki and an Unabara. His uncle had committed acts so heinous that even he felt them in his heart. His father was dead and so too was his mother.
Slain due to his uncle's actions drawing the anger of demons. "How do I change things? Is their no path I can walk to make things better? I don't claim to be strong if anything I'm weak. Incredibly so, but I want to believe that maybe you have an answer.."

PAPA SHIHOIN
"One thing you should understand is that we are not nobles for not only what we do, but what he have done. And while that may not matter to you, it's true that you carry the legacy of your ancestors and have duty to uphold their reputation. That's what makes us different from the masses, and the difference between you and I." A sigh escaped his lips as Yushiro began to relax. His shoulders drooped and his overall tough and mean demeanor were gone. There wasn't really any reason for the kid to feel intimidated by him by this point, well besides the fact that he was still talking to the head of one of the four noble families.
"I understand your want for change despite being powerless but always asking for the aid of others will net you the exact opposite. You want to be a change in the world and make it how you see fit, well do it the. As you've laid it out to me, it seems like you have everything you need. The Kuchiki name has a status to it that gets you things that not a lot of others are able to, plus you're a lieutenant and that's nothing to scoff at. Just get the rest of the Gotei to get behind your cause and you can achieve what you want, without my help." Deep down, Yushiro felt kind of bad by turning the kid down like this, though he tried his best to let him down gently. Honestly, he really didn't see a reason he needed to be involved at all.
"Power is not only how well you are at swinging your sword or the highest number of kido you can use. Take the Vice Captain Commander. If I remember correctly, she's physically weaker than a good population of humans yet she's the second strongest person in the Gotei position-wise."

Takehiko sat closing his eyes thinking about it all. Taking in what the elderly Shihoin said to him. It made sense but something about him made him lean back. If he leaned on the Kuchiki name would it cheapen it? Could he be a leader of people what was that? He began to understand what nobility was. The man understood the nature of nobility far better. Takehiko thought about power and what he considered it. He didn't think power meant defeating powerful enemies. No that didn't seem right as power wasn't important. Change needed to happen naturally within the Soul Society. But for that to happen he needed to take steps forward. Couldn't remain this way anymore, could he? Naive and unaware of the world and what he could do. "You are right reaching out may lead to these results. The only thing I can do at this moment is to use what experiences I have..to move forward. Always forward, never backward." He muttered the last part to himself as he inhaled a bit. His eyes had a burning in them he had some inspiration going forward.
He knew what he needed to do next. He paused for a moment as he decided to ask the Shihoin Master for one last thing. "You don't have to sir, but could I maybe train with you? It doesn't have to be much if only a little bit. " He said asking now as he bowed his head lower. Maybe it was a bit much to ask the head of a family to train with him. He'd always been terrible at Hakuda and such things. Kido was his center and strong point at all times. But Takehiko realized something important today with the Elder Shihoin. He was still growing his skill set wasn't set in stone. Yes, he trained at kido because it was all he was skilled at. His teachers found him lacking as a Flash Step user and Hakuda user. But perhaps the Head of the Shihoin could give him advice. Help him see things he didn't. That was the best he could hope for going forward. Maybe he would never master his sword or those skills. But that wasn't something determined now but later.

Well, that was a request he wasn't expecting in the slightest. After telling the kid about how strength wasn't going to solve all of his problems, he then proceeded to as Yushiro for training. This slightly annoyed him as it seemed he wasn't listening to what he was saying, let alone retaining the information.
"No." He was very blunt, done with the pleasantries. "Now if that is all, then I'm going to say that this meeting is over. I am a busy man, and I can't allocate much time to sporadic meetings. I have a family to run."

As anticipated of the Shihouin head. Takehiko offered a simple and polite bow to the man. Understanding their meeting had come to a conclusive end. He smiled knowing that the elder was merely hammering a point. Strength did not solve everything and he should focus elsewhere. Many fine members were capable of other things. Thus he would devote himself to the sciences at the Academy. Study them hard and try to develop his skills. That would be Takehiko's focus on things aside from strength. The Kuchiki was grateful though as he stood. Offering a polite bow to the man for his wisdom. These were things he would take keenly with him. Takehiko would remember and continue his studies. Developing himself not into just a medical specialist. But into a person who could be like Vice-Captain Abalia. Despite not being the strongest was effective. That was his new motivation and motor. Takehiko walked away from this meeting enriched. Given more knowledge and information then he could hope for. That was his take away from it all.
He walked away heading out of the compound while being sure to be polite. Making sure he didn't offend the hosts or people present. Takehiko owed them a great deal akin to gold. For the wisdom of their clan leader was much richer than that.
