Departing Shadows Within The Sands [Shinryu]
Thu Aug 29, 2019 7:38 pm
Captain Kuro Okami
Another knife wound. Another body falling, crashing into the sand. Another mission complete. ... The man's expression was as hollow as the one who was quickly expiring beneath him. He felt nothing for the creature that he had slain.
He felt nothing, generally.
His hands slid back beneath the robe he wore, stepping through the sand. The Stealth Force Captain moved without hesitation, without doubt. Right now, there was only one thing he wanted to do. He felt the urge to return home. The Hollow that had fled from the Rukongai had been disposed of, without him having to reveal himself.
Granted, anyone who stumbled across him would easily notice the damage from that decision.
The blood-soaked Captain's uniform he wore beneath his dusty brown cloak could be seen through the multiple tears on his shoulder. Crimson stains covered the upper part of his right arm. The Hollow had left him with a parting gift, but for Kuro, all that mattered was that the creature was slain.
He paused, calling the Senkaimon. It would take some time for it to arrive; in the meantime... Nothing but the desert winds... Kuro's body fell to the ground, crossing his legs as sand buffeted upon him.
He began to extend his range of awareness. The Captain's zanpakuto glowed in its sheathe, or rather... it appeared to become covered in shadow. A dark, writhing mass. The Shinigami extended his awareness of nearby shadows, until he noticed one beginning to approach. It was.. humanoid. For some reason... he felt as though he knew it. His hand gripped against his blade, his body sinking down into the shadows of Hueco Mundo.
Soundlessly, the Stealth Captain arose from his target's shadow. Unbidden, words were spoken, plainly. "...Stop moving. Identify yourself." His back was to the stranger's, and his sword was still sheathed... but even so, it would be easy to see the Captain's fingers wrapped around its hilt.
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

This was a rather slow day in terms of the pure monotony of the environment. It was just intensive and expansive in how bored Shin was getting as he tried to understand the patterns of Hueco Mundo. They seemed to be changing with time, which was natural for something in nature. But, he had to note anytime it changed and simply shrugged his shoulders. Oh I hate the desert so much, can we leave already? We've been here for years. A chiding, whining voice came from Shibo Aijin as Shin stretched his shoulders before observing the movement of a Hollow in the distance. He spent a good amount of time taking in it's movements. He could camouflage his reiatsu with his Bankai if he wished to get closer but didn't really feel like getting closer, not to mention he felt he needed more time manipulating the new reiatsu signatures in himself before just casually using them. Not to mention strolling around with his Bankai released would both reveal it and consume a lot of reiatsu over time. Instead, he just used kido and kept himself hidden.
BAKA! Don't ignore me! More bickering. Another day, same Shibo Aijin. He had to admit, how predictable she was did provide some comfort and consistency. He did wish she'd be a little bit less...no scratch that, a LOT less noisy inside his head. He wondered about others relationships with their Zanpakutou and wondered if this was common or if Shibo Aijin was just a unique case of crazy. HEY I'm talking to- Shin's focus soon went from what she was saying to the moment in front of him: The hollow he was observing and taking notes on was swiftly dispatched. Shin took in every detail he could in what was happening. Then, one immediate detail was brought forth to his immediate attention. "Interesting." And with that simple notation in mind, Shin fully concealed himself and his reiatsu and began to follow the individual. Today had brought to Shin a refreshing new change and he was going to learn everything he could about this alleged Captain. And then, Shin's curiosity peaked greatly as the individual found him and asked for his identity. Shortly after, he dropped his concealment of his presence and kept his reiatsu suppressed as a smile curled across his lips.
"How fascinating, fascinating indeed. Surprises like this are always so delightful, especially after all these years. I almost forgot the feeling of being detected by another but, there it is. Did you know that the desert facade of Hueco Mundo acts nothing like the deserts in the Human realm? The changes in temperature are not even noticeable here." Shin didn't even turn around to look at the individual as he spoke to him. He wanted to learn about exactly who he was and what he could do. The scenery just wasn't suitable though, he wanted to keep his cover here perfectly intact and not have his presence be revealed. And sadly enough, sparring out here would do exact that. He however, was a Captain. And that meant in the least, he could hitch a ride back. Or at least figure out if he could or still was needed here. "Oh, me? Has everyone forgotten me already? Granted, I wasn't exactly the flamboyant type but, to think that Sleepy-soutaichou didn't say anything or leave a note about me or my objective. Then again, he was never really good at keeping up with things. Unless it was sleeping. He was top notch at that. I am curious about what child he found to replace me, if he did at all. It wouldn't surprise me if he just left everything as is. Regardless, what were we talking about again?" Shin was aware of the conversation, he was just taking his time spouting off and trying to notice how what said and how it was said would interact with this new individual. He could literally feel Shibo Aijin throwing a tantrum in his inner psyche but, paid no mind to it for the moment. "Oh right, me. Kimoi, Shinryu. Rules state I can't really go back unless I'm given the release and I no longer have my old privilege of just doing that for myself. But you, I wonder. I wonder indeed. By the way, how were you able to find me?"
Shin really had to know. He had to notate if he let a minuscule amount of reiatsu slip or if there was a technique to detect him through other means. He had to make sure it wasn't able to be replicated and if it was, how to counter it immediately. Not to mention, he was just highly curious to see someone with a level of prowess similar to his in stealth work.

Captain Kuro Okami
Too many words. Way too many words. The Shinigami captain remained totally silent as the man he stood behind began rattling off phrase after phrase. He could feel a dull grating against his senses with each 'delightful', 'surprise', 'fascinating'. Kuro's hand gripped tighter around the hilt of his sword, more of an involuntary twitch than a purposeful threat.
"...Answer the question." That was the only reply that the man received, his head keeping track of what he man had said. Apparently he was not accustomed to being detected. But, well, humanoid shapes were rather unusual to detect in Hueco Mundo. Kuro may have been in unfamiliar territory, but his ability to feel shadows was still potent enough for that kind of use.
Way, way too much talking... get to the point already. Kuro was not a patient man. Granted, there was little he felt like doing to display his impatience. This time, it was not a focused request, but a growl. "Your. Name." Kuro finally lost it, his bloodlust flowing off of his body.
For such a short man, the effect would likely surprise the other individual. Killing intent surged from his body, Kuro's eyes completely wide. His nostrils flared as he breathed out, forcing himself to relax, to reel it back in. It was nothing related to his level of power. It was raw intimidation, strong enough that Kuro was concerned it would garner them some unfavorable attention.
"Kimoi... Shinryu..." Kuro's body paused completely for a moment, his eyes no longer pointed at the man before him. They were far away, looking at something as if it were on the edge of his awareness. "Deployed to Hueco Mundo.. Vital Status... unknown." He muttered, that bloodlust he maintained dispersing as suddenly as it had emerged. "...I am your Captain." Kuro told the man, noticably relaxing to the point where his body fell back into the sand. His rear end created a print where he rested, shifting his neck this way and that. "Quit talking so much and get to the point." Kuro's tone of voice had also changed significantly. Gone was the terseness. It was replaced by... well, nothing. As if the white-haired man had no presence at all.
"I detected you with Kuroi no Inu. By being myself... Kuro Okami." The Shadow Shinigami explained, finally deigning to answer the man's question. "There's no reason for me to tell you how it works, though... is there...? Especially if you're not really Kimoi,Shinryu..." The Captain of the Stealth Force was considering the man before him, his eyes looking away before looking back at him. He did not inherently trust anyone claiming to be a member of his stealth-oriented organization. "..What is your favorite food? Or was, before you wound up here..." He asked, finally deciding on the correct question to ask.
Perhaps the man would think it strange. However, the records that the Seireitei kept of its members were also a bit strange... and if there was anyone who knew the Seireitei's records, it was the former First Division Lieutenant.
Believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.

Shin's eyes carefully scanned and surveyed the minutia of how his new friend was responding to his actions. He seemed to be one of little words. The slowly growing aggravation and murderous intent growing in him was fascinating to Shin. He was so apt to learning about the little details and these were all the more necessary. It seemed he was a direct, cut to the chase type. And Shin....was not. The collision of their opposing ways of being peaked Shin's curiosity as it finally peaked, letting out a wave of forceful bloodlust. Ah, there it was. The Hidden, kept in the wells nature of his new friend. Hey, he might kill you if you keep annoying him baka! Shin raised an eyebrow in response to Shibo's comment though, outwardly it would look like it was in response to Kuro's reaction to his incessant ramblings. Kuroi no Inu.....So, his Zanpaktou found me. I'll learn more after I get back to the Seireitei. Unfortunately, I have to actually wait and not piss him off so much that he leaves me here. Shame, this was just getting fun too. Shin thought to himself. Then, he said Captain. So, he was the one that replaced him, how fascinating. Now Shin KNEW he was going to spending quite a bit of time 'getting to know' his new friend. Then, he mentioned an idea about Shin faking his identity and then, asked a peculiar question. He had to admit, Shin would have taken a similar course of action. But the idea of someone having to prove they were themselves was a delightful idea, he was going to steal it. As he didn't like revealing about himself, it was frustrating but he supposed it was give and take.
Shin sighed as he opened his robe to reveal inner pockets that were bulging full of orb-like shapes. Shin then reached in and pulled out a small spicy candy. He had to admit that it would be nice to get to the Rukongai and to get their candies, they tasted much better than the ones Shin had to.....procure....in Hueco Mundo. Shin then, tossed one of the spicy candies to his new friend as he pulled out two more and shoved them into his mouth. "Can never go wrong with these. I'm much less of a foodie and more of a snacks guy myself. Consider this a freebie. Then again, it's not really a secret that I eat these. Let me tell you, supplying myself with these while being stuck here is a lot harder than you think." Shin stated in a matter-of-fact way. The fact was that Shin had to make his own candies out of what existed in Hueco Mundo. Would his new friend know that and what their contents were? Probably not. He shrugged off the idea as he observed his friend. He wondered how good his fists were in a fight, he had to admit, he had gotten rusty in his time minimizing his engagements. Actually, not having been in an actual fight in years probably had it's worse for wear on his combat abilities. His espionage abilities were highly sharpened he supposed in exchange. Shin then yawned as he proceeded to walk forward. "You call the Senkaimon already, Ragey-taichou? I'm bored of this place and have a very long, long report to give. Not to mention I'd like sleep with both of my eyes closed. You know how much of a hassle it is to change which eye you sleep with open every night? Man, that habit is going to be a pain in the ass to get rid of. Or should I keep it, I wonder." Shin continued to walk as he half talked to himself. He knew in the least, that it was best to move elsewhere than be here out in the open for too long. He still didn't want his cover revealed and it was in bad taste to put himself in that situation intentionally to begin with. Whether or not he liked his new nickname, Shin would observe but he didn't really care currently.

Captain Kuro Okami
Now where by the Soul King did he find that…? Kuro's dulled irises widened a bit at the sight of the candy. To be honest, the man had of a bit of a weakness for sweets, but it did not usually come into play. He supposed that the man in front of him was a bit like himself, though; Kuro could not imagine a life where he was unable to make himself pancakes.
They widened further at the sight of two of them being thrown toward him. One hand outstretched, embracing the candy, pulling it close to himself. His killing intent noticeably dropped; despite being the Stealth Captain, Kuro Okami was not a difficult man to read. Perhaps not because of typical reasons, but he nonetheless unrolled the candy, drawing it up to his nose and sniffing at it. Spicy! He thought to himself, wondering if it was some kind of… cinnamon? His mouth opened with hesitation, a bead of drool popping out of the side of his mouth.
He did not seem to mind it.
His tongue enveloped the candy, pulling it into his mouth.
For just a moment, something visibly changed about the Shinigami. His eyes flared up, and his face… went through a rapid series of expressions. First, shock; then morphing into a curious tasting, his eyes moving in his head. Then, the smallest of smiles drew on the edge of his face, his chin lifting up as his eyes closed a bit. They opened, the smallest bead of light shining within their depths… before his tongue enveloped the candy completely, becoming used to the flavor. His movements began to slow; the bizarre change in disposition easy to see.
"…Thank you." Kuro told him directly. Kuro was no longer wondering where exactly the candy had come from. All he was thinking about was the aftereffects of it in his mouth, his shoulders and above stilling from their strange outburst of activity. "…" Kuro was silent as the man continued to speak. He did not particularly care for the name 'ragey-taichou', but… he also did nothing to dissuade it. Either he did not mind it that much, or it just failed to get any kind of reaction out of him.
He seemed significantly less annoyed with the way the man rambled on. Kuro's back turned to him as he stared out at the distance, where the Senkaimon would shortly arrive. Well… if he is a spy, I can always kill him. Kuro thought to himself, his hands gripping beneath one of his dull red sleeves. … Between his fingers, he could feel the safety of his stiffening shadows; if he needed them, they were always close by. Kuro decided to repay the man for the treat he had shared with the Shadow Shinigami.
"…When I'm in the Seireitei, I could lend you my sleep mask…"
An odd choice of words, that. When he was in the Seireitei; did he mean that he would lend Shinryu his foam mask? Was there a foam mask? What kind of mask did the Captain mean…? Shin would receive no further information on it, however, as the strangest sliding noise echoed through Hueco Mundo.
"…Stay in front of me, until we arrive back."
That was Kuro's condition to the man; the way by which Shin would be able to peacefully return to the place of his birth. Such a bizarre encounter would result in him arriving home safely, if he would merely give his back to the man with enough killing intent to stun most large animals.
The doors slid open before them, and Kuro solemnly entered, collapsing back against the wall in the corner. He seemed… exhausted. That blankness was back completely in his eyes, the last of the candy sliding down his throat. But that one hand remained up his sleeve, even while the rest of his body relaxed.
He seemed… far too relaxed. Like he was forcing himself to; trying extremely hard to get his body to stop moving, to stop being tense.
If Shin listened closely, he would even be able to hear the Captain's breath as he forced himself to breathe slower…

Candy, the easiest way to survey certain muscularity dynamics within an individual. Natural movement often occurred within eating more than most people realized. Micromuscle movements told a lot. Especially from those that often trained to restrain and coil their actions in a spring loaded sense: Always appearing relax but also tensed and ready for combat at all times. So when those let loose, Shin could notate the natural posturing one had and understand where one held themselves. He took note of how he utilized menace in his daily life and what happened when he released himself from that tool. It was all quite fascinating. His face contorted to the experience of the candies. He seemed to be like Shin himself when it came to candy: A Huge Fan. It was a worthwhile bit of information to keep in mind. And then, he brought up a sleep mask and Shin noted the way it would segway into the arrival of the Senkaimon.
"That's a welcome sight." Shin remarked to himself as he noticed the Senkaimon opening up for them as the Jigokucho showed itself to them. He couldn't help but wonder what new things have changed that he'd get to absorb himself in. The idea of it already got his mind in an excited place. We're finally going to get to sleep in a real bed and take showers and relax for once! Shin heard in a pure content from Shibo Aijin as he proceeded to follow the very welcome sight of the bug that would lead him home. "Aye, home is a good place to go. We will get to relax, won't we? Well, you will because you are a lazy slouch." At this mentioning, Shin could hear the fuming within his mind as he knew what nerves to prick and when when he wanted to annoy Shibo Aijin. BAKA, you're the one that just sits around watching people all day! Shin smirked at the thought of sitting around and observing something that wasn't a Hollow. Granted, they were interesting but, only really got interesting as they gained strength and most of the strong Hollow were in places that were too high risk to explore. "Oh, is that what I do all day? And what is it that you do all day, flashing your chest all day isn't exactly productive either." Internalized screaming and bickering soon followed as Shibo Aijin began to flail angrily and in slight embarrassment when this was just blurted out into the open. BAKABAKABAKABAKA!!! Don't just tell the little boy we just met about the things I do! Shin then tilted his head in amusement at this reaction by her. "Oh? Since when did you become shy? If you really want to flash your chest at him, by all means go for it. I doubt he will see it but do whatever you want." Shin said as then, after a few moments of stutters and bafflement sounds, Shibo Aijin decided to not comment further, realizing that Shin was just baiting her so he could annoy her and just began to pout slightly. Shin just chuckled and before long, he could see the other side of the Senkaimon and what would be the Seireitei and swiftly took a step, landing in the Seireitei. It felt real good to finally be in the pristine environment and not worry about picking sand out of everything, everyday anymore. Shin knew better in this situation to speak however, it wasn't a Senkaimon opened for him so he just waited for the official stuff to be handled before he'd decided on his next course of action.

Captain Kuro Okami
"Mmm." Was all Kuro gave in reply to how welcome of a sight the Senkaimon was. He really did not know what to say or think about the man at this point. …A lazy slouch? Kuro was not certain what to make of that. His eyes widened slightly at the idea, his body forcing itself to relax further. "…" To be honest, Kuro did not care about it one way or the other. First he had been accused of being ragey; now he was being accused of being lazy. …I don't know… He supposed he would ask Henrex if he was a lazy slouch when he got back.
Wait, was he…? Kuro blinked, looking down at his chest for a moment. Nope. Just the same bloody rags he always wore. …He's not talking to me. Kuro finally arrived at the realization, and as soon as he did, he checked out mentally of the conversation taking place in front of him. …Flashing one's… chest… Kuro's thoughts turned inward, the expression on his face beginning to slowly shift, the edges of his mouth going down… before it suddenly stopped, returning back to the same flat line it was before. His thoughts returned to blank, clearing his mind of any junk.
…What…? Somehow, the man's inner monologue had turned to Kuro. Or rather, he was directing the one within him toward Kuro. Kuro kept his eye on the man, but.. Nothing ultimately happened. Not until they got back to the Seireitei.
When the Senkaimon opened, Kuro was greeted with… nobody. There was no one to receive the Stealth Captain in this part of the Seireitei. Or at least, there did not appear to be. As Kuro took a single step out of the box, someone walked out of the shadows of the alley where he had reappeared.
"… Kimoi Shinryu is his name. Contact the twelfth division…" He explained, before turning back to Shinryu, reaching out a hand. "…Here. We're going to make sure you are who you say you are. After that, you can go off and do whatever it is you're supposed to be doing. I'll be following you there… We're near the Stealth Squad's barracks, right now…"
Kuro explained, before he began to decrease in height. Before Shinryu's eyes, Kuro's body began to descend into the ground. If he looked closely, he could see darkness shimmering around Kuro's body as it descended into the ground. At last, Kuro's body vanished completely, the last tuft of white hair dispersing into darkness. If Shin needed him to give directions before he went, he would make sure to do that… and then, the Shadow Shinigami would be gone.
