Diablo Cortar~Segunda Espada
~The Cutting Devil~
~The Cutting Devil~
Far removed from the safety of Karakura Central and those who protected it, there was a small, former city; ravaged by the effects of age. Of course, no matter how desolate a place, humans always seemed to manage to survive and even multiply. Yet, there were some places, due to in-habitability or social stigma, that these resilient creatures never dared to go. The "Abandoned District", also known as Area X, of Saburo city was one of these such places. Dilapidated buildings and streets coupled with corpses and the stench of death made this particular area unapproachable to even some of the most hardened persons. Still, there were some persons who found the desolation and even the oppressive atmosphere of death. As for who these may be, one of them was about to make their entrance. Although the air already carried the heavy and foul stench of death, the atmosphere seemed to grow even heavier; as above the abandoned district a spacial anomaly began to disrupt the peace. Suddenly, a large Garganta ripped open the sky, only a lone figure standing in the center despite its large size. If the Garganta itself wasn't enough to grab attention, then the reiatsu of the figure would have; its intensity doubling the oppressive density of the atmosphere in the abandoned district. Luckily for the figure, however, the district would have been empty of nearly any forms of life that may attack it or alert the Gotei 13.
Taking a slow step out of its portal, the figure slowly dissented towards the Earth; easily able to control its speed by manipulating the reiatsu under itself. Landing on the ground with only a light tap against the unkempt streets, the figure kept its head down until its Garganta closed behind it. Waiting a few moments, the figure finally raised its head and revealed its identity to be Diablo Cortar; the Segunda Espada. Normally, Diablo preferred to remain in Las Nochas, not wishing to put his life in jeopardy by traveling to the world of the living. However, with the shortage of Arrancar within the Espada, as well as their current alliance with Kin Iramasha; Diablo had "offered" to go on a scouting mission into the world of the living. Of course, he didn't plan on going anywhere populated, so he had decided upon this abandoned district of Saburo City. Now, not only was he able to escape from the annoyance of some of his "fellow" Arrancar (like the Trecera Espada), but later down the road, when an actually dangerous mission came along, Diablo would most likely not be at the top of the list; having already been on a mission. Despite his emotionless and seemingly uncaring nature, Diablo was actualy quite intelligent.

[Dark Kabuto]
"I am Dark Kabuto, the dark hero of those that deserve it."
-Heroism aka Dark Kabuto
A part of a large city - that was Area X on official documents. But in reality, it was a desolated place where only death was ruling. The few humans able to withstand the stench quickly died in here thanks to the dark forces lurking in the ruins - in a way, this place was more dangerous than a war zone. In a war zone, you could at least see what could kill you, if it wasn't a mine. Here, it was the mercy of demons and Hollows that decided on how long something lived.
This was a place on earth only safe for the stronger individuals. One of those stronger beings was already here - Diablo Cortar, the Segunda Espada. In fact, he was probably strong enough to survive in way tougher environments, and his Reiatsu weighting down on the area caused many of the lower existances to flee instantly - some even simply vanished, crushed by it. And this Reiatsu on the surroundings should only increase the moment another Garganta opened, near the ground.
Unlike Diablos way of transport, this Garganta was a lot smaller - just big enough for a person to step through. Like a rip in the reality of everything, it opened up to the swirling darkness of the dimension between dimensions, but that illusion only lasted for a moment - the shining yellow and red of the jet-black armor became visible just shortly before the being stepped out of the Garganta. Closing up like it had never been there, the Garganta was gone - the only indication that it even existed was the heavy, dark and malevolent Reiatsu mixing with Diablos that now tainted this area.
It was rare to meet the Primera Espada at all - he NEVER followed any orders, no matter who told him to do something. In fact, it was hard enough to even get a hold of him to try to command him. But this individual was not someone who could be controlled by anyone - or so they thought, but the one behind the leash of loyalty of this Espada was not Ashlei, even though he had one.
"My my, how rare to see you outside of Las Noches, Diablo." The usual, deep voice of the Primera was filled with slight amusement. Of course, he knew that Diablo was simply staying out of trouble - and that was quite the good quality. If it wasn't for the huge ego that rivaled a certain Sonomoris from another plane of existance, Heroism would be anyone but the Primera. But actually, he was quite safe this way. Only Ashlei knew his true face of all the Espada, and his true name - Soul Society knew the name Heroism, but not a single detail. For them, Dark Kabuto was the Primera Espada, nobody else.
"A scouting mission, is it? Good thinking, my spanish friend." Of course, Dark Kabuto and Diablo couldn't be called true allies, let alone friends. Hollows were never known for being very loyal beings. There was no possible emotion visible on the yellow visor of the black armor, which made it very hard to read the intentions of the masked one.
The steps of the Arrancar were quite easily heard on the hard ground, but that was only because he had no reason to move with more care. Anyone storming at two Espada at the same time simply had a death wish. Suddenly, his visor swayed to the left a bit.
"Asche zu Asche, Staub zu Staub." [ashes to ashes, dust to dust]
Raising his right hand, a sudden, short blast of energy, called Bala, was released from it, hitting something looking at the Espada from a window of a nearby ruin. A pained noise was heard, then it was quiet.
"There are quite a few virmin out here, don't you think? But I guess that's about everything you can report about Area X. It's a shame, isn't it? Only a bit longer, and you'll possibly be send out to fight once more. A pity, so much wasted potential."

Diablo Cortar~Segunda Espada
~The Cutting Devil~
~The Cutting Devil~
As he stood there, Diablo noticed the subtle changes in the atmosphere that signaled the opening of a Garganta; and from that he felt a familiar reiatsu. Of course, for those who used the Garganta as frequently as the Espada, it was an easy matter to detect one before it even opened; or at least for the top Espada. "...Primera" Diablo said in a soft tone, only seconds before Dark Kabuto, the Primera Espada stepped out of his own Garganta. While the two Espada had vastly different personalities, they seemed to "get along" for the most part whenever they met; at least to the extent that Diablo did not wish to kill Dark Kabuto. Of course, Diablo really didn't feel any emotions, and only looking out for himself, it wasn't as if he would even call Dark Kabuto his "ally". "...It seems that with our current alliance...I am forced more often to carry out these annoying tasks..." Diablo said in his emotionless tone as the Primera Espada approached him, his Spanish accent audible in his voice. While he may have followed his orders, it was obviously known that Diablo did not like to do so. Then again, since it was the best way to guarantee his own safety, Diablo did as he was commanded.
Unlike Dark Kabuto, and probably every other Arrancar, Diablo did not have much of an ego. In fact, while he was definitely powerful, Diablo never boasted about his powers, and even preferred to abstain from battles. That being said, Diablo did have a certain side to him that loved combat, simply because it allowed him to shed so much blood, and force his opponent to do the same. "...friendship...that word has no meaning to me" Diablo said without emotion at Dark Kabuto's saying "my Spanish Friend". While Diablo knew that he did not mean that literally, there was just something about the word "friend" that he didn't like. Maybe it was because he did not know of the emotions related to friendship. Of course, Dark Kabuto's next statement didn't really make much sens to Diablo. "...potential...no...I simply do what I must to remain...alive..." Diablo said as he turned to face Dark Kabuto.

[Dark Kabuto]
"Sometimes I ask myself if you are the most complex or simplest person I've ever met, Diablo." The deep voice behind the yellow mask did not tell the intention, as usual. Figuring out the true motives of Heroism was never easy, but actually, he had very easy ones this time. To perfect his plan and duty, he needed something the Espada had and he lacked. Of course, he only lacked it because he decided to do so - after all, HE was the perfect being. Or so he thought, since it was hard to be any more self-centered than Dark Kabuto. His pride and self-loving attitude had the ability to piss ANYONE off... well, maybe besides Ashlei, since she so far didn't try to crush him like a bug for his attitude.
"And I apologize, Segunda. I didn't know that words could effect your mood at all... maybe a little hint?" Looking at him, Heroism smirked behind his mask. "Your refusal for emotion-filled words - or words that are filled with emotions for others - is quite interesting. Because that is actually showing emotions you do have, Diablo. Not that they are strong, but you should never deny your true nature and the small hints of activity in your soul... it will help you to follow your own desires more. After all, we Hollow are driven by our needs, monsters in the eyes of humans, but I see us as the true followers of the human nature. Interesting way to look at it, don't you think?"
Once again, the Primera was ranting on about his thoughts on humanity, for sure nothing new for Diablo. But for the first time, he actually gave the Segunda one of his famed advices to follow the own nature more, when he was the prime example of NOT doing that. Not that anyone in the Espada knew that he couldn't care less for his kind. He maybe was an Arrancar, but his heart belonged to the Quincy and his new mistress, though the last one just in a platonic way. He was no man who could be a lover for anyone at all - an empty being like him. Most likely, even Diablo had more true emotions than Heroism.
"So tell me, artist of the Espada. Is joining with a group aimed at combat really going to help you? Do you figure that once the enemies are defeated, you're safer than before? If you do, then I compliment you for wagering that high. But right now, you're in quite a bit of danger thanks to being with the Espada." The ulterior motive of Dark Kabuto - it was clearly there, but what exactly was it? To make Diablo go freelancing? No, that wouldn't bring him any personal gain. If one thing was certain, then that he was selfish.
