Takehiko had gotten the memo that he would be fighting today. Which somewhere along the lines they forgot he was medical. He sighed softly rubbing the back of his neck as he felt the arctic chill. The agreement had been for them to not use anything but natural skills. Which worked fine since he didn't have anything aside from that. Takehiko hadn't anticipated himself being chosen for this. First, there were far more suited fighters like Mirajane and Arkin who could do this. But no for some reason they had to drag the guy who preferred mending things to fight. Takehiko was the one Kuchiki who didn't care about rank or promotions. Doing the job well was all that mattered as he considered his method carefully. He'd finished training with Momo Hinamori at the very least. He spoke within his inner world as he decided to gain Akuma's attention now. "Going to need your help I imagine brother. This isn't my forte on a good day." He said softly as he considered his options carefully.
He had a limited supply of energy to manage here and this girl was stronger than him. Forgetting the fact he was meant to be a healer and not draw blood. Takehiko's documents would mark him as such but there were certain things about him. How much risk would he need to show in this regard? Takehiko didn't know if relying on his brother was the best course of action. Quincy and hollows didn't really get along well. He learned a couple of spells form Momo that would help. He'd need to use every trick up his sleeve in order to do it. But if the goal was to make them get along better. Well, he could manage that he guessed in the long run. Takehiko frowned at how this pitch was sold to him about a vacation. They didn't mention a frozen wasteland where your piss would turn into ice soon as it left your body. If he was still being punished for previous mistakes it did feel like it. Takehiko brought his hand down now thinking carefully on how to handle this situation. Strategically speaking the ice was solid and would make for a good battleground.
Nothing around for them to endanger, though he didn't know again why he was considered a danger in this. The only option was to plan his actions carefully this time around. Bringing a hand to his chin Takehiko reached out catching snow in his palm. Feeling the frozen liquid melt as it touched him. This would be interesting for them both he guessed. Now, all there was to do was to wait calmly for them to arrive.

Takehiko Kuchiki; the man was very... pretty, was her first impression of the robe-clad man she had been told to meet. All things considered, not the worst impression to make, but for the reason they were here.
Sylvia felt the snow and ice crunch noisily underneath her boots as she walked out upon the ice. Bolstered against the cold of the antarctic, she had modified her usual outfit to be suitable for the weather. Her leggings were thick, and the hybrid bomber jacket and trench coat sported fur lining that had been further bolstered with reishi for better insulation. The sleeves nearly hid her leiden hant and bangle from view, but the equipment was there, just as always. All of it adhered to the Quincy's traditional colors, white and blue, but with just a little gold added here and there.
She came to a stop just out of arm's reach of the man she was to spar with. Their superiors each had deemed this a good way to test the other, and to strengthen the bonds between their groups. To tell the truth, she had scoffed at the idea when she was told. However, orders were still orders, and she couldn't disobey them.
"Takehiko Kuchiki?" The Quincy spoke with a heavy German accent, and had noticeable trouble with the pronunciation of the man's name. She did her best, though. "Sylvia Brauer." She neglected to offer a hand to the man as she introduced herself. There was something... off about him, and her growing familiarity with that feeling was making her uneasy. Still, she needed to be professional.
"I haffe peen told ve're to fight as zough zis vere real compat. Is zere hanything I schould know?"

His head snapped to attach along with his eyes. Azure eyes moved up and down for a moment. Analyzing what was before him carefully this was the girl in question. Appearances were deceptive as Ulv had taught him along with many others. He listened calmly closing his eyes before inhaling. He didn't much care for combat or the act of fighting. Violence in itself wasn't something generally ventured towards. But when asked to do so he had little choice. "It is very pleasant to make your acquaintance Sylvia Brauer. " He gave a small bow bending slightly at his middle. Though not very low it showed some manners from him as he understood her to be German. Thus the thick accent which came from it really. Did he tell her oh by the way I am a medic being forced into this? No, it didn't seem relevant to the problem at hand. Anything she should know aside from the fact this was under protest. Takehiko opened his azure eyes and shook his head slowly from right to left. Not offended by her not wanting to shake his hand in this case.
"I fear not, nothing of note please the first move is yours. " He said as he stood calmly awaiting her move now. Takehiko had strategies he could use in most cases when it came to it. Kido was a rather advantageous weapon but it did serve a problem here. She had a bit more in the tank to expand then he did really. One couldn't just expect him to jump forward with a smile swinging at her. He'd rather avoid using his sword if at all possible as he considered options for offense and defense. Ice was too thick he'd surmised for them to break at this juncture. He certainly didn't have the power to shatter through it in this regard. Perhaps she did as he waited to see what she chose to do. Would she rush into melee and fight or perhaps withdraw a distance. Those were the choices that would define his strategy going forward. Kaido wasn't really suited to combat nor was he really. Though he guessed at the very least he could make a personal vow.
Regardless of the outcome, he would treat the injuries present. Takehiko didn't mind that much as it made him happy. He didn't draw his sword or reach for that. As he believed at this point a sword wouldn't help him really. He'd need his kido and wits to move forward. Though he could calculate about ten or so moves she could make. He'd need to see how exactly Sylvia fought and conducted a battle. Was show one who took to range like most Quincy? Maybe she was a rarity among her people who fought melee. Though it would require some time to think of proper strategies or possible outcomes. He believed it would be a good idea to be ready with a solid barrier. That would give him a hand at least he could combine it with a special chant. It would let him go through it a bit quicker instead of simply chanting one first. Mixing the chant together would provide him some versatility to his combinations. He suspected that it would only work once 0or twice maybe depending on Slyvia.

First things first, she supposed the stranger wasn't stupid. It had been an underhanded tactic to try and gleam information from him before the fight had begun, but even in failure, she had learned something about the man whom she would be sparring.
He was at least mildly intelligent.
"Danke." Sylvia nodded to the offer to take the first move, and calmly turned and walked away a good twenty paces before she was satisfied with the distance between them. Her senses remained sharp all the while, though tiring herself with hirenkyaku just to begin the fight seemed counterproductive. So, at a sizeable distance away, she turned back to face her opponent, and extended her ungloved left hand outward to catch the magnificent longbow as it appeared within her grasp.
In her gloved right hand, a thin blue arrow appeared that was knocked slowly, and she pulled back until the string was taut as could be. Her green eyes watched for any reaction from the man as she lined up her shot. There would be no tricks in the first move. No gimmicks. A basic attack at his front would reveal how he fought. For truly, he was no Hollow, and she had little information to act upon, yet.
Okay, so maybe she did try one dirty trick. With naught but a smirk at the last second, she angled her shot down and released her missile on its course, a would-be crippling blow to the man's knee.
