I. Basic Information
» Name: Zhāng Frankenstein
» Name Origins:
Zhāng:
This part of Zhāng’s name was bestowed on him by the current head of the part of his clan that hails from Japan. It was derived from the name of one of the Eight Immortals, “Zhāng Guǒlǎo”, a mythical alchemist/healer in Chinese mythology. This name was bestowed on Zhāng to embody the fervent hope of his family and fellow Frankenyakushi alliance members that, like his namesake, Zhāng would also become just as famous and skilled in being both an alchemist and a physician someday. They also gave him this name because they hoped that Zhāng would not only make their group’s name famous throughout the world, but also take the group’s medical and alchemical knowledge and skills (both mundane and supernatural) higher than they have gone before by building upon the various techniques and abilities in their repertoire.
------
Frankenstein:
This part of Zhāng’s name was granted to him by the current head of the part of his clan that has originated in Germany since it is their surname as well. It was derived from the name, “Victor Frankenstein”, a fictional German/Swiss scientist & surgeon from an old horror novel and the associated series of movies written long ago. This name was granted to Zhāng to signify not only his connection to the rest of the family, but also the their heartfelt wish that, like his namesake, Zhāng will become a well known surgeon and scientist who will make the clan’s name known throughout the world by his mastery of all the surgical techniques already practiced by the clan. They also gave him this surname since they looked forward to the day when Zhāng would not only make their name well known, but also take the family’s mastery of surgical skills and abilities, both mundane and supernatural, higher than they have ever gone before by building upon the ones already in their arsenal.

Physique
Zhāng:
Zhāng is 5’ 7” in height and weighs 130 lb. with no more than a single ounce of fat across his entire frame. The bone structure that supports this frame is on the medium heavy side while his musculature puts him in the athletic category due to the physically demanding training he has undergone in the past to become what he is today. Due to all the time he has spent travelling in the past and all the travelling through various weather conditions and environments, Zhāng’s skin is somewhat thick, callused especially on his hands and feet, and weather-beaten as well coarse to the touch. However, due to his ethnic heritage being partly Japanese, Zhāng has very little facial and body hair as well except in the usual places like every other male.
Zhāng’s head is slightly oval while his ears are unremarkable like those of most others. He has a high, wide forehead, although this is not very obvious due to his half black/half white hair being fringed low over his face. At the back it usually has a slight upward curl, but overall, its state of upkeep varies from decently well groomed (when he is made to attend formal events, attending to patients and clients, or to hang out with his acquaintances) to unkempt (if he is caught up in his research or in inventing some technique or piece of equipment). His thin brown eyes usually have a languid, almost seemingly bored expression unless his attention is caught by something or someone intriguing enough to hold it. In that case, his gaze becomes much keener, brighter, and even somewhat piercing at times depending on the exact nature of the object of his fascination. Between these eyes of his rests his aquiline nose and a bit lower are his high cheekbones and gaunt cheeks which can sometimes make him look like he is emaciated, at least to those who are not so familiar with his eating habits and preferences.
Still further down is his mouth with its thin lips which are firm to the touch which hide a set of strong, white teeth behind them, all of them being fairly unremarkable in all regards other than their durability which is higher than that of the average male. His lips almost always have either the ghost of a smug smirk playing upon them (whenever he happens to be fascinated by something/someone) or a slight downward turn to one corner (when he is feeling bored or languid due to a lack of interesting things to study). Below them are his gently tapering chin and strongly set jawline which are distinctive, but not so much as the large patch of mismatched skin on his face which is separated from the rest of his facial skin by a long diagonal suture line. Apart from his neck length half black and half white hair, this patch of skin and the associated suture line are arguably his most noticeable facial feature and are a reminder to never play with with fire which is beyond his level of handling skill (this patch of skin was grafted onto his face to treat a rather severe burn wound he had received in the past when he had tried but failed to capture a particularly powerful soul evolution human who was a fire user whom he had deemed to be a potential research subject)
Zhāng has a strong neck with a prominent Adam’s apple and the muscles therein are fairly well developed, at least enough to be noticeable. His shoulders and back are broad and have lean musculature while his torso has all the various muscle groups (e.g. pectoral and abdominal) finely chiseled, enough to be fairly noticeable even with his thick skin covering them. Across his whole torso except for his back, there are healed scars and suture lines of varying sizes all over, each a souvenir from the many experiments he has done on himself and from some of the battles that he has fought while on his world tour in the past. His upper limbs are of average length with upper arms of medium bulk, sinewy forearms, and large, muscular hands which are coarse and callused all over with thin linear scars and indentations on his index fingers, thumbs, and some on his palms from the scalpels and suture threads he uses in his surgeries. Zhāng’s lower limbs are longer than those of the average person with toned thighs, calves, and other aspects. His lower limbs end in large feet that are proportional to his height due to which he has a long stride. Like his torso and limbs and face, his lower limbs also have numerous healed scars and suture lines which are a testament to his past struggles.
Apart from the healed scars and suture lines that mar his body and the exotic looking half black and half white hair that covers his head, the other noticeable thing about him is the few tattoos that adorn some parts of his body. The largest one is a red and gold double headed phoenix which has its head and neck on the back of his neck, its body and feet with their talons spanning the length and breadth of his broad back, and its large, long wings starting on the edge of his back and stretching out onto his shoulders and extending till halfway down on each limb. The rest of his upper arms have a medium sized fish drum shown on the right while the left depicts a similarly sized scalpel and an ouroboros sigil, with the scalpel crossed over the ouroboros. The next are a pair of medium sized ones on his forearms, a draconian looking royal demon on the left and the other an archangel on the right. His lower limbs have the Japanese characters for Fū, Rin, Ka, Zan, In, and Rai tattooed on them (Fū being light blue, Rin being forest green, Ka being fiery red, Zan being stone grey with brownish highlights, In being ink black, and Rai being electric yellow). The former three of these are on the front of the left thigh and the latter three of these are on the front of the right thigh. The last and smallest ones are a silver full moon between his eyebrows just above the root of his nose and a gold colored horned crown above the moon in the dead center of his forehead.
(All of these are done using special dyes, so when light falls on them, they have a metallic looking glow to them)
====================
Stein:
Like his default, “good” counterpart, Zhāng, Stein is actually 5 ’ 7” in height and weighs 130 lb. with not more than an ounce of fat anywhere on him. However, unlike his Zhāng form, Stein’s bone structure falls well within the heavyset range and his musculature is significantly denser too, though not to the point that it would hinder his movement to any noticeable degree. Stein has rough, callused, and weather-beaten skin like Zhāng, but unlike him, Stein’s skin is significantly denser and far darker as well, almost having a dark brown hue with a dark grey tint to it. However, since his ethnic heritage is partly Japanese just like that of his default persona, Zhāng, Stein also has very little hair on his face and on his body as well except in the usual places like everyone else.
Like Zhāng, Stein’s head is also generally oval in shape but his ears are more noticeably pointed at the upper part than are those of his counterpart. Stein has a high, wide forehead like his counterpart, but his forehead is even more remarkable in that there are two outgrowths coming out of it from its left and right lateral aspects which are made of compressed keratin and look almost like thick horns. There are two additional, similarly thick extensions made of compressed keratin that come down from his forehead, making it look like he is wearing some sort of face guard. Stein’s cheekbones are high set just as those of Zhāng while his cheeks are just as gaunt, and his nose is also somewhat aquiline just like that of Zhāng, but Stein’s has a elongated black triangular mark on its bridge with the tip of the triangle reaching all the way to the tip of his nose while its base extends back toward the root. Unlike those of Zhāng which are reddish brown with white sclerae and round pupils, Stein’s are a pale amber yellow color with black sclerae as well as slit pupils. They have a far more feral, intense look in them, and are slightly larger and also more almond shaped than those of Zhāng. Stein’s jawline is just as strongly set as that of Zhāng, but his chin is a little bit more square shaped than that of his counterpart.
His lips are just as thin and firm as those of his counterpart, but his white teeth are far thicker and much more durable with his canines being far sharper as well, making them seem almost like the fangs of a tiger or lion. Stein’s tongue is far longer and far more prehensile than that of Zhāng as well, making it seem almost like that of a chameleon. Unlike Zhāng, Stein does not have the mismatched patch of facial skin and the noticeable black suture line that cuts across Zhāng’s face is not present on his own either. That said, Stein’s neck is just as strong and finely muscled as that of his counterpart, Zhāng, and his Adam’s apple is just as prominent. Unlike Zhāng who has half black half white hair with its somewhat neat appearance and which stops at the base of his neck, Stein has fiery orange hair which is far wilder and unkempt in appearance and extends further down to his mid back instead.
Stein’s shoulders and back are far broader and more muscular than those of his counterpart, Zhāng. In addition to this, unlike that of Zhāng, Stein’s back also has several craggy looking, roughly conical outgrowths coming from it. His torso also has far more well defined musculature than than of his counterpart. His limbs are also quite dissimilar to those of his counterpart. Whereas Zhāng’supper limbs look like that of any other active human male in their prime, Stein’s are far thicker, more sinewy, and his forearms and elbows have what seem like thick, triangular outgrowths protruding from them. His hands are also far larger, rougher, more callused and his fingers end in nails that look more like small claws. Since Stein is also a researcher like his counterpart, his hands also bear many of the same marks that are indicative of his profession. Following suit, his lower limbs are far thicker, much more toned than those of his counterpart, Zhāng, though their length is same as those of his counterpart, while his feet are somewhat larger and his toenails look more like miniature talons instead.
(Although many of the distinguishing features that set his host personality, Zhāng apart from the rest of the populace disappear when Stein takes control of the body and transforms it, he still has the same tattoos as does his default persona, Zhāng since they are two personalities within the same one body)
===================
Attire:
As would those of anyone else, even Zhāng’s/Stein’s choices in attire vary from situation to situation. When chilling out at home, over his undergarments, he can be seen almost always in a simple outfit consisting of a muscle tee and cargo shorts that colors of which vary in accordance with the march of seasons (when by himself). He usually wears a simple pair of matching colored geta sandals for footwear when at home alone. If he is entertaining guests, over his usual undergarments, his clothing choices would be more formal (e.g. dress shirt, dress pants, etc.) or more casual (e.g. polo shirt with denim jeans, etc.) depending on the social status of said guests. As in the case when he is by himself at home, even when entertaining guests in his home, he still prefers geta sandals as footwear. However, if he is invited out by someone, he will usually choose the exact same outfit as he would if he were hosting guests at his home, but with the small change of footwear from geta sandals to long tabi boots with specially made all terrain traction soles along with the associated special socks.
Alternately, if he doesn’t have his usual range of polo shirts, then he resorts to wearing the top part of his hospital scrubs over a muscle tee up top while the rest of his outfit remains the same as above. If he is travelling or in attendance at some formal event or another, then he usually dons a black tie style ensemble consisting of a light colored dress shirt with bow-ties of varying colors, a formal vest with pockets hidden in strategic access spots above that and below, he would wear associated suit pants of the same color and make as the vest above. Over this set, he will almost always have on a formal, full length trench coat, usually one with solid black color and which, like the vest and pants below it, has several pockets hidden in easy to access spots. Lastly, for work, he usually wears a semi-formal light colored dress shirt, dark colored semi-formal trousers with dark colored slip on shoes for maximum versatility and freedom. This work outfit also has pockets in easily reachable places and over the whole thing, he wears the stereotypical pristine white lab coat which is perhaps iconic of the physician/scientist’s overall image. On those occasions when he has to perform some surgical procedure or another, as would be expected, he wears surgical scrubs as well as the other associated personnel protective gear (e.g. gloves, face mask, etc.). The one common thread is that his belt that he uses to keep his outfit together (whether it one made of thick fabric or of traditional leather). This is always customized to have speed loader pouches and holsters attached to it for holding his various items.

II. Personality Traits
» Personality:
Zhāng is actually one of two distinctive personalities, the second of which developed due to his failed past attempts at trying to completely separate his good qualities from his bad ones. The second personality is known as Frankenstein or just Stein for short as most people prefer to call him. Stein is far darker and wilder than Stein while retaining all of his strengths which make him several fold more dangerous, but usually this does not matter since he mostly stays dormant deep within Zhāng’s subconscious and only really comes out to play when Zhāng happens to be aroused or when the night sky happens to be dominated by a blood moon. Even though he maybe remaining dormant most of the time unless the aforementioned situations come to pass, Stein continually whispers darkly seductive words into Zhāng’s conscious mind to try to lower his guard and make him vulnerable so that he can break through the otherwise above average mental defenses to free himself. The traits of each of these two sides are described below:
Zhāng:
Zhāng is primarily a logician and a scientist, and as can be expected from such a person, he is confident, fairly intuitive, logical, analytical as well as observant both in battle and outside it. Zhāng is almost always focused on his profession and one major life goal, which is to unravel and understand all the mysteries present in nature and the preternatural in order to one day reach the abyss which gave rise to all of creation so long ago. In accordance with his heavy reliance on logic and reason, Zhāng is highly averse to all emotions, the primary one being love since he considers it extremely antithetical to his precisely tuned, finely balanced mind which is his greatest asset. However, Zhāng is still capable of a certain level of kindness, magnanimity, bravery, and protectiveness (though the last one only applies to those who have met with his approval).
Despite all these advantages, Zhāng still has his deficiencies, the main ones among them being his utter lack of tact and his total obliviousness to the usual social cues, graces, and mores. So, Zhāng often ends up offending those around him greatly. Other things about him that really offend or maybe just annoy people would be his narcissism, his sarcasm, his manipulative streak, and his prominent flair for the dramatic and love for humorous antics. On the other hand, Zhāng’s reticence, introversion, penchant for boredom if he does not have any intense sources of mental workout (which he can never quite handle as innocuously as would a normal, average person), extreme eccentricity, and impatience with inadequacy along with his condescending tone serve to simply make it incredibly hard to work with him.
Stein:
Stein is what Zhāng regards as his shadow or id, and as such, he not only possesses all the common strengths and weaknesses of personality which the default Zhāng (who functions as the ego) possesses, but also serves as a container for his inner darkness, aka his most unbecoming traits which he wants to hide from the rest of the world. However, there are some distinct differences between the two in both strengths and weaknesses. Whereas Zhāng shuns all but the most innocuous of emotions, Stein embraces all manner of emotions fully and allows himself to express them (although he does this in ways that are extremely vulgar and intense almost all the time). While Zhāng is merely confident, Stein has charisma which attracts both the yin and the yang of society to him and thus, he never has to get his own hands dirty doing anything since there are so many willing and able pawns who would take care of said work for him. In contrast to Zhāng who is magnanimous and relies solely on logic and reason to guide him, Stein is calculating and relies on both instinct and logic to direct his actions and decisions.
The differences in their strengths may be few in number, but the differences in their weaknesses are far more numerous. While Zhāng merely uses drugs and other artificial stimulants solely to cure his boredom and not because he actually enjoys it, Stein tends to give into debauchery and hedonism to cure his listlessness. He even goes as far as to wreak havoc in society just to occupy himself if there happen to be no research subjects to fascinate him at any given time whereas Zhāng restricts himself to pernicious behavior. In comparison to Zhāng who is not only aromantic but utterly asexual as well, Stein can be counted among the various “Don Juan” in the world due to his nearly insatiable sexual appetite (though it’s always directed at women who fall within his “type”). Unlike Zhāng who won’t usually succumb to madness, Stein constantly displays psychotic tendencies and when these start manifesting in Zhāng’s behavior, they herald Stein’s inevitable, impending awakening. In contrast to Zhāng who would prefer to finish off any opponents quickly and never loves torturing people but only does it when absolutely necessary, Stein is a total sadist and is proud of this fact and has no qualms when indulging these urges both in battle and outside it. Finally, whereas Zhāng may be eccentric, but never whimsical, and never lets his anger get the best of him, Stein is not only highly mercurial, but also prone of acts of uncontrollable wrath during which he is capable of just about anything and can’t easily be brought back under control.
Note: The following are mostly same for both Zhāng and Stein (barring a few which only apply to Stein), but the difference is Stein is a lot more intense, sadistic, and uncontrolled than Zhāng in the expression of not only his own likes but those he shares with Zhāng.
» Likes:
Zhāng and Stein:
Experimentation:
Both Zhāng and Stein love to experiment on/with anything and anyone who strikes their fancy, whether they are male or female, old or young, average or above average, and so on since by doing so, they can learn what makes them tick the way do and in doing so, find some way to use them in order to increase their own powers and knowledge. After they are done with their experiments though, they will never abandon them, but rather will keep the test subjects around, not out of any sort of moral obligations to them, but because good help is always so hard to find for the purposes of experimentation, especially for them and also because said test subjects can continue to be useful to them either as sources of valuable data or for any further testing they may need them for in the future. Also, they treat every battle or encounter they have as a chance to test themselves, their powers, the opposing party, their abilities, or anything else they may be interested in testing at that time.
Power Exploration & Creation:
Both Zhāng and Stein love to study any and all magic that is unfamiliar to them/that they meet for the first time to learn how it works along with all its secrets and especially cannot resist the temptation of the chance to develop never before seen supernatural powers or never before seen applications of standard supernatural powers because doing so could very well increase their own powers, abilities, and the like greatly. They especially love using their experimental subjects as testing grounds for the development of any new powers, abilities in their own chosen fields of supernatural ability and also because they believe that doing so will ultimately lead to the realization of their one true life goal, which is the unravelling and understanding of all the mysteries of both nature and the supernatural and the reaching of that primordial abyss which is said to be the origin of all nature and the otherworldly.
Exotic/Interesting Things & Entities:
While there is not that much in the world that both Zhāng and Stein particularly like in the world around them, they do fancy whatever and whomever happens to pique their insatiable curiosity. This can be any object such as some ancient artifact or relic, or some sort of unique food or drink, some type of powers unfamiliar to them, or anything else in between. It can also be familiar or especially unfamiliar lifeforms, whether they be human, beast, beast-folk, divine, demonic, or anything else in between doesn’t concern him for they like whatever and whomever they wants to and they won’t let anyone tell them that they cannot do so. Of course, that said, both Zhāng’s and Stein’s way of showing their interest in the potential acquaintances is unlike that of most people in that they do this through trying to the best of his ability to convince them to be the newest test subjects for their various experiments.
MMA:
Among the few things that both Zhāng and Stein particularly like is the practice of mixed martial arts. They like this because they find that this practice it keeps them in shape and allows them some modicum of CQC capacity. The other, more important reason is because when they find their thoughts overwhelming them, physical exercise helps clear and reset their “mind palace”.
Mysteries (other than natural and supernatural/preternatural):
Both Zhāng and Stein also love to explore other mystery types besides their main foci because like their main foci. This is because, like their main foci, these also help provide them with the mental exaltation that both of them crave so very much. It is also because if these end up being cases or jobs, then there is potential for earning some much needed funding which can then be put towards their continually ongoing and expanding research.
Miscellaneous:
Since both Zhāng and Stein are polymaths in their own right, there are several other interests which captivate each of them. All of these may be less important than those listed and described here, but they still have their own unique functions. Hence, all of them are irreplaceable to both Zhāng and Stein who thoroughly enjoy indulging in each and every one of them.
----------
Only Stein:
Torture:
Unlike Zhāng who only uses torture as a tool when absolutely necessary to extract intelligence or for some other tangible, practical purpose, Stein actually enjoys torturing those whom he can have at his mercy. This is because he finds that watching someone writhe in agony causes a feeling of exhilaration to wash over him that is more potent than any of the several drugs he is addicted to and more energizing than any time he spends with the women of his type. However, like Zhāng, Stein also recognizes the value of torture methods in interrogation and subjugation.
Women:
Stein is most attracted to certain type of women. He does not discriminate against any in terms of ethnicity, nationality, or even species as long as they fall into his type zone. This strike zone consists of those that have the following qualities in spades: intelligence, power (in all its forms), beauty, wild soul, and adaptable nature because once again, like his other interests, they too fill him with a sense of utter exhilaration which he has a hard time finding elsewhere.
Hedonism:
Apart from spending time in the company of the kind of women he is attracted to the most, Stein is also fond of extreme indulgence in raw, unadulterated sensual pleasure. This may come in the form of spending lots of money, downing powerful alcoholic drinks, or a range of other such acts of debauchery. He loves being hedonistic for the same reason as he does his interests, that is, they too fill him with a sense of utter exhilaration which he has a hard time finding elsewhere.
================
» Dislikes:
Being Manipulated/Tricked:
Both Zhāng and Stein hate being tricked and manipulated by others even though they have no qualms doing it to others. This is because falling prey to this makes them feel inferior to the ones who were able to catch them off guard like that. More importantly, they dislike being manipulated/tricked because if they were to succumb to that, then they would not be free to pursue their goals of unlocking the mysteries of nature, the supernatural, and the world around them on their own terms which is their one greatest wish.
Anything/Anyone Too Unbearable:
Both Zhāng and Stein loathe anything and anyone too much for them to bear in certain regards. This includes elements such as: any who would nag them constantly, any who try to pry too far into their business or broach topics they doesn’t like remembering, any who would needlessly get in the way of their lifelong goals, anything and anyone too loud, anything with exceptionally strong or exceptionally bland aromas or tastes, any who would torture them, and so on. This is because they would just end up causing them undue stress and bring unnecessary trouble and melodrama into his life.
Prejudice & Persecution:
Both Zhāng and Stein despise those who would simply give in to their fear of anything and anyone different from them/anything unknown to them because that would lead these people into unjustly persecuting those who are different from them and destroying that which they don’t understand out of their ignorance. The reason for this is that during their childhood years, they had suffered constant bullying during their younger years by those who were either ignorant of their situation or just plain jealous of their superior ability and so were traumatized for quite a while.
Betrayal:
Both Zhāng and Stein abhor those who bail on them after having asked for their help not because they think these clients have some moral duty towards them because of hiring them, of course. It is actually because if they are hired for something, they tend to devote their all to seeing whatever task it is to completion. So, should the client or requester bail on them before the task is done, that would mean they have wasted a whole lot of their time, energy, and/or resources on the task and all to no avail and that would be highly irritating to them since their time, energy, and resources are incredibly precious to them.
Inadequacy:
Both Zhāng and Stein absolutely cannot stand to experience inadequacy. This is true whether this be in themselves or in others and in any form whether that be power, intelligence, resources, or any other parameter. This is because they know from past experience that when something or someone is inadequate, they will not be able to withstand the stress brought on by the passage of time, the various occurrences in the world, and most importantly the object or entity stricken with the aforementioned inadequacy would be boring to them and will most definitely not be able to withstand their eccentric and sometimes extreme methods of experimentation and research.
Miscellaneous:
Since both Zhāng and Stein are eccentric in their own right, there are several other elements which absolutely disgust each of them. All of these may be less important than those listed and described here, but they still have their own unique features which cause both Zhāng and Stein to invariably be disgusted by them. Hence, both of them avoid these like the plague whenever possible, (although in the strange case of Dr. Zhāng and Prof. Stein, it is a little different because even though both hate each other with unbridled passion, Zhāng avoids Stein as much as possible while Stein tends to actually haunt Zhāng and beguile him into lowering his guard and releasing him instead of avoiding him).
==================
Motivations:
All Knowledge of the Universe:
Both Zhāng and Stein are ones who want to discover the innermost working of all the unknown phenomena in the world which catch their interest. This is true whether they be natural, supernatural, or otherwise not only for its own sake but also because then he can use the knowledge they gain from their experimentation and research to develop and hone their powers, abilities, and the like to the highest degree possible within the farthest limits of their prowess. By doing so, they hope to reach that legendary primordial abyss which is the origin of all the natural and supernatural phenomena in the universe around them.
Resources:
The kind of research that both Zhāng and Stein are planning to undertake requires a multitude of resource types ranging from power, territory, wealth, test subjects and so on. Therefore, one of their major goals is to acquire all of that and more. This is so that they will not be answerable to most people and then can pursue their life goals as much as they want to in their lifespan, the main one among those being all the knowledge of all the phenomena in the universe which sparks their insatiable curiosity.
Miscellaneous:
Since both Zhāng and Stein are eccentric in their own right, there are several other elements which serve as powerful motivators to both of them. All of these may be less important than those listed and described here, but they still have their own unique features which cause both Zhāng and Stein to invariably pursue them on the way to their ultimate life goal. The primary one among these is a broad degree of freedom since this would allow them to achieve their goals without any loss of time or reprisal from hostile parties.
=============
Fears:
Lack/Loss of Good/ New/ Potential Experimental Subjects:
Both Zhāng and Stein fear the prospect of not having good, durable test subjects more than anything. This is because they need such superlative specimens in order to conduct their research and to perform the sorts of experiments they want to in order to eventually reach their life goal. This, in turn, is due to the fact that a lack of such means they can never truly accomplish what they have set out to do in their lifetime.
Poverty:
To both Zhāng and Stein, poverty in any form is not a very good situation to be in, and this is more true for them than for most other people. This is because a lack of resources would hamper their progress towards their one true life goal just as much as if not more than a lack of any other resource would in the long run. This is due to fact that a massive amount of resources that they realize will be necessary for the kinds of experiments they have in mind.
Miscellaneous:
Since both Zhāng and Stein are eccentric in their own right, there are several other elements which stand as agents of fear in both of their eyes. All of these may be less important than those listed and described here, but they still have their own unique features which cause both Zhāng and Stein to invariably baulk when face to face with them. The primary ones among these are any entities of the canine species and more importantly the prospect of boredom, the former being feared because of a traumatic event in their past which involved said species and the latter because of the debilitating effect it would have on their plethora of faculties.

» History
Prologue: A Tale of Two Ancestors
Zhāng/Stein and his story actually starts with that of his parents and before them, his grandparents, and so on back through the several generations into his family tree. One of the paternal ancestors, Bismarck von Frankenstein, was the most prominent quincy in his family and had come into power during a period in which the Frankenstein family which was one comprised entirely of quincies was in decline from a series of weak leaders who had led it in the past. Therefore, he realized that, in order for the Frankenstein family to truly be revived back to the glory days of its founder, he realized that he would need to bring in fresh knowledge of medical and surgical themed reishi manipulation techniques into his family’s library. To achieve this goal, Bismarck began to research all kinds of lost records and finally found a lead which he then managed to trace all the way back to a certain hidden tomb in Egypt which was, till then, thought by much of the world to be lost to the pages of history. After conducting further inquiries, he discovered that this lost tomb was supposedly constructed by the followers of an ancient figure named Tabula Smaragdina who, when alive, was regarded as the incarnation of Thoth, the ancient Egyptian deity who medical arts, magic, alchemy and the like, to house his body along with his ancient, allegedly supernatural relics and vast troves of knowledge after his death. Since his imagination and muse was irresistibly excited by the discovery of this clue, Bismarck had decided that he would lead an expedition to try to unearth and, if possible, excavate this ancient tomb with the intent to take its contents back with his back to his hereditary family estate in Germany in that time, roughly around the 1900s.
After following the map he had acquired for what seemed like several months on end, he and his team finally managed to arrive at their destination, the lost tomb of the vizier Tabula Smaragdina and set up their base of operations. After preparing themselves with all the necessary equipment, the half of the team which was selected to enter the tomb took off with Bismarck at their head. Little did they know that they were being followed on their way down into the lost tomb. Their unknown followers happened to also be quincies, but this clan hailed from Japan instead and their speciality was alchemy in all its common forms. They were led by a woman named Kaguya Kuroyakushi who was also the head of the clan. Kaguya’s goal was similar in that she too wanted to explore the lost tomb, but her objective was the set of scrolls and relics related to ancient alchemy which were also rumored to have been laid to rest within the tomb. Ignorant of Kaguya and her people, Bismarck and his team made their way deeper and deeper into the tomb, they continued to map everything they observed and experienced in minute detail and collected anything they saw as related to their objective. Kaguya and her followers who brought up the rear took care of whatever remained behind. This continued uneventfully for quite a while and the two teams closed in on their respective destinations, the two secret rooms located in the deepest part of the bowels of the tomb that contained the scrolls and relics which were the prize they each sought so desperately.
However, to their great misfortune, there was a thunderous rumbling sound as if heralding an earthquake. This happened because of the careless actions taken by one of the newer members of Bismarck’s team who had unwittingly triggered an ancient trap mechanism that had been set by the tomb’s long deceased builders for any presumptive tomb robbers in the ancient past. As a result of this, the rocky ceiling that towered over their heads began to first show ominous looking cracks which soon expanded at an alarming rate and before either party could react appropriately, thousands of pieces of ceiling began to fall towards them. Amidst the ensuing chaos and confusion, Bismarck and Kaguya somehow managed to save themselves by diving off to one side while their respective parties had taken the incentive to rush in the opposite direction. Once the dust settled, there was a thick makeshift wall of rubble now separating the two sides with nary a gap between the enormous pieces of ceiling. Bismarck and Kaguya had unfortunately been knocked unconscious from the collision they had with the floor when they dived towards it to escape the falling debris. So they did not respond immediately when their respective teams began to try calling out to them through the rubble to see if communication was possible. Luckily though, Bismarck had a transponder and when that began to beep loudly with the voices of his team coming through it, it managed to rouse him to a conscious, albeit slightly wobbly state. He sat up groggily and while he busied himself with the transponder in an effort to turn up the volume to its maximum extent, Kaguya had also gotten up and started stirring some paces behind him. Of course, Bismarck had more pressing concerns at that moment, so he didn’t take notice of her just yet. Instead, he tried calling out to his team through the transponder
”Hey!! Can you guys hear me?! Hello!! Respond if you’re all intact and report on your status!!”
Luckily for him, his team’s response came through properly and the voices of Kaguya’s party which could be heard as well, now succeeded in jolting her back to near full consciousness too. That, of course, led to her coming up behind Bismarck and quite literally shouting into the transponder right next to his ear
”Please respond!! Shinichi!! Mikan!! Koga!! Are you three okay?!”
Her sudden outburst and action startled Bismarck who was not used to being in the presence of such well-nigh unbearably loud women before. Needless to say, the volume of her screeching also caused a tremendous feedback reaction in the transponder, resulting in a shrill noise that nearly sent both her team and that of Bismarck reeling from the unexpected auditory assault. Grimacing at the idea of this strange woman having the gall to commandeer his transponder, Bismarck then snatched it back from her and with a sigh, continued giving his directions
“Okay, now that the interruption is over, listen closely, all of you! If you don’t want this ancient tomb to become your early grave as well, you will do as I say. Do not and I repeat, DO NOT be careless in where you step henceforth. This whole place could come crumbling down on us if that happens again.”
He paused briefly to collect his thoughts once and then resumed issuing his directive shortly thereafter
”A small detachment of you should make your way carefully through the rubble, exit the tomb, and go to get help if you can from the remaining members of our team who are still outside. Meanwhile, this woman and I will do what we can to find any other means of exit or if we can’t, this woman and I will stay put and wait for you to rescue us.”
Both the teams acknowledged his orders and set off to try to find help as per his instructions. Meanwhile the rest of the members from the two teams got started on trying to clear the rubble a little at a time. On the other side of the wall of rubble, Bismarck and Kaguya then prepared to proceed further into the tomb, making sure to take enough chemical lights so that they could drop them to mark their route as they went. As they went further in, they stumbled upon room after room, most containing false entrances, traps, and only a few that contained anything historically significant, albeit not what they had come to this tomb for in the first place. After several hours of what seemed like fruitless searching, Bismarck and Kaguya came to a fork in the path at which point, they decided to split up and go their separate ways since each of their respective goals was finally within reach. Several more hours passed until finally, Bismarck and Kaguya exited the burial chambers and came out onto the common path with their respective prizes well in hand.
“So…looks like we both ended up with whatever it is we wished to obtain from this place…”
Thus said the both of them simultaneously and let out a relieved laugh at seeing that they had both somehow managed to survive until the end of this long journey into such a perilous place. After that, they made their way back to the wall of rubble and waited for help to arrive which, of course, did soon afterwards. With the assistance of their followers, both Bismarck and Kaguya finally succeeded in bringing out the various scrolls and relics they had managed to collect from the burial chambers earlier into the outside world. Since they knew that the outside air, light, and other elements could end up damaging their fragile loot, they proceeded to seal their prizes into climate controlled, portable containment units which they had brought with them. Whatever artifacts they didn’t need, they donated to The Egyptian Museum of History and the rest, they took with them back to their homes, Bismarck to Germany and Kaguya to Japan, respectively.
Naturally, despite their best efforts, neither Bismarck nor Kaguya could forget the time they had spent with the other since, after all, they had been brought together by the powerful urgency of shared adversity and had also overcome it through cooperation. So, several months later, Bismarck and Kaguya met once again and this time, after getting the blessings of their respective elders, they were united permanently in wedlock. As a result of this, their two groups had also formed an alliance with each other, one far stronger than if it were a mere business partnership or some other form of interpersonal contract. In due course, Bismarck and Kaguya brought forth an heir who had taken over leadership of the alliance along with their spouse who was from the Frankenstein family. Together, they managed to strengthen the alliance by experimenting and studying the knowledge locked away within the scrolls which their predecessors had brought back with them so long ago. Thus began the long history of the Frankenstein-Kuroyakushi alliance during which the subsequent generations continued to improve further and further upon the work done by their forebears and finally managed to develop a streamlined and highly refined system of quincy spellcraft which incorporated the techniques of the three separate disciplines (namely bioalchemy, supernatural medicine, and psychic surgery) practiced by the two sides into one unified body of knowledge. This innovative system which they kept closely guarded thenceforth served them well and over time, led to the alliance growing in strength, influence, and prosperity with each subsequent generation (led by a head family composed of one spouse from the Frankenstein family and the other from the Kuroyakushi clan every time) adding to these three fields throughout the coming ages.

Part 1: Life of Zhāng/Stein (Birth & Early Years)
As time marched on and the world around them changed due to the conflict between the quincy and the other supernatural races, whenever the members of the Frankenstein-Kuroyakushi alliance were called upon to serve, they did so without hesitation and afterwards, went back to their regular lives. When the quincy went into hiding later on, so did the members of the Frankenstein and Kuroyakushi alliance. Then, when the rest of the quincy started reappearing in the world around 2260 AD, when the Quincy first began to reappear, so too did the Frankenstein family and their allies the Kuroyakushi clan. Then, in 2284 A.D., the next scion was finally born into the group to the current head family, Ziegfroyd von Frankenstein & Otohime Kuroyakushi. In accordance with the wishes of the alliance’s elders, he was granted the name Zhāng Frankenstein. Then, at the next great banquet, Zhāng was immediately named the next heir to the position of supreme leader of the alliance, much to the joy of everyone who was in attendance. The entire group swore undying allegiance to him at this same feast and promised to protect and guide him during the course of his growth and maturation till adulthood.
Zhāng inherited many a genetic gift from both sides of the family. From his father Ziegfroyd, he inherited stamina, charisma, fortitude, a razor sharp intellect, and a strategic bent of mind that were all decently above average. In addition, his father also passed onto him the above average adaptability, photographic memory, and attention to detail among other things that had brought him so much fame among the alliance members. From his mother, Otohime, Zhāng inherited an innately keen intuition, sharp reflexes, and auditory memory all of which, like the unique traits of her husband, were also fairly above average. Along with these, he also received her razor sharp intellect which, just like that of her husband, was decently above the average. Thus, with both sides of the family passing on their respective mental and physical gifts to him, Zhāng showed great promise from an early age especially in the area of his IQ which reached a sum that was higher than those of either of his parents.
To his parents’ great dismay, along with these gifts, Zhāng had also inherited many of their bad traits, though these were mostly psychological in nature and related to his personality. From his father, Ziegfroyd, Zhāng had inherited personality flaws such as hedonism, tactlessness, introversion, and love for melodrama. Like his mother, Otohime, Zhāng proved to be quite stubborn in his ways, as well as being sarcastic and narcissistic among other things. This of course worried a large majority of the alliance members since they expected that these qualities would get in Zhāng’s way and hamper his ability to lead the clan as well as steer the associated business conglomerate through the treacherous unpredictable waters of the business world or even worse, upset the patient base that the alliance’s past leaders had worked so hard to acquire and maintain throughout the past years.
Despite their fears and misgivings about him, as a result of his genetic gifts, Zhāng proved to be a decently quick and efficient learner of virtually everything that he was taught by the private instructors hired by Ziegfroyd and Otohime. Over the next several years, the sight of Zhāng progressing so steadily under the watchful eyes of his instructors brought great joy to both of his parent and also to the whole alliance as well. Thus, his parents and fellow alliance members were confident that the Frankenstein-Kuroyakushi alliance would continue to prosper under the leadership of its new heir when the time came for him to take the helm and lead it. Since they were intent on preparing him as far as possible for the eventual arrival of this fateful day, from his 12th birthday to his 17th, Zhāng’s parents began to make him accompany them to any major alliance meetings so that he could gain valuable and practical experience by observing the ways in which his parents dealt with various matters that required attention, whether those matters were political, business-related, or otherwise. Zhāng rose to the challenge adequately enough, and was able to successfully learn quite a few things from his time at these meetings.
Apart from that, his parents also began to teach him all the basic techniques known to and used by the Quincy race such as how to produce his spirit weapon, how to manipulate reishi, how to wield the seele schneider, etc. Since he had been exposed a great deal to many of the wild west themed movies and also a lot of the ones like the Godfather trilogy, when he started to manifest his spirit weapon, needless to say, it began to always take the form of a revolver firearm. Alongside this racial skill training, he also began to receive specific instruction in the various secrets related to the unique brand of supernatural powers held by all members of the alliance, these being bioalchemy, supernatural medical techniques, and psychic surgery techniques. As expected, he performed brilliantly in this area as well and this in turn prompted his parents to subject him to training that grew ever harder with time in the hope that one day, their son would surpass all who came before him within the alliance. Little did they know that, due to their incessant insistence on training him till he nearly passed out everyday from exhaustion, something foul began to stir deep inside Zhāng’s subconscious which would eventually end up bringing them far more grief that they could have ever foreseen occurring to them.

Part 2: Descent into Madness & Advent of Rebellion
As time marched on for Zhāng, his parents, and the rest of the members of the alliance, due to the extreme pressure to succeed at learning everything he was taught that was overshadowing him, cracks started to form in Zhāng’s psyche which had been intact till then. However, no one was able to pick up on this gathering turmoil within him and so no one bothered to try to take him for counselling to try to reverse the process which was picking up slowly but surely in both rate of development and intensity of effect. As a result, in time, a complete second personality, which called itself Stein, had taken form within his subconscious to act as a sort of coping mechanism to try to handle the excessive pressure he was feeling from all the relentless training he was being put through by his parents as well as from the expectations which the rest of the members had for him and his apparently brilliant future. Unfortunately this second personality was of a far darker, twisted turn than his default persona and sometimes, when he let down his guard, he would start to hear its darkly seductive whispers
”Hey…I know you can hear me…why…is it that you put up with all this unnecessary pressure?…You could just tell them to buzz off…”
Of course, no one else could hear these words, so Zhāng had to be extremely careful to not be seen responding to the provocation of this second personality that had now formed within him and was growing in strength steadily day by day. So, whenever he would hear these words, he would excuse himself and try to fight off the attempts to twist him with weak attempts at rebuttal such as by saying
”N-No, I can’t…the family’s honor is at stake…and I am the only heir who can continue the lineage…”
Needless to say, his Stein was not fooled by these flimsy excuses and instead kept up his attempts to derail his persona’s mental stability day after day, until Zhāng could take it no longer. During this period, Zhāng had finally reached the peak of his training in his family’s basic secret arts as well as those basics of the Quincy race as a whole. However, he was hesitant to try exploring anything further because he knew it was forbidden by the elders to do so due to the ancient edict issued by the family’s founders. However, a part of him still was thirsty for more and more knowledge and power even though he knew it was wrong of him to try to acquire it to that extent. Naturally, Stein, who was always observing his persona’s actions and interactions from deep within the latter’s subconscious, picked up on it before it could be suppressed successfully and knew that he had new ammo to use against his persona in his continual attempts to make him fall from grace.
Thus, he began his attempts anew and would keep chipping away at his persona’s mental defenses and moral sensibilities by using his persona, Zhāng’s hidden, insatiable thirst for both knowledge and power against him
“Come on…you know you have the ability to achieve these new levels of power and to handle the challenges of even something forbidden such as human transmutation and bioalchemy in general as well as the other forbidden powers included therein…so why not give in and go for it? After all, knowledge for its own sake is not a bad motive, is it? It is actually admirable that you wish so earnestly to learn all that this universe has to offer, you know…”
In response, Zhāng would try to refute Stein’s claims since he was ashamed to admit that his desire to become more powerful and acquire forbidden knowledge was no different from that of his more twisted counterpart, Stein
”Y-You’re wrong!! I am nothing like you, demon!! You are twisted and evil beyond measure and seek power for your own personal gain!!”
Upon hearing this, Stein would merely laugh and retreat until the next time he found a weak point in Zhāng’s moral sensibilities and mental defenses. It continued in this manner for a long time to come and all the while, Stein kept up his attempts at turning Zhāng towards the dark side, to try to get him to tread into that area of supernatural ability that none would dare even dream of doing for fear of incurring the wrath of the elders as well as the rest of the Quincy community. Eventually, Zhāng ended up giving in to his desire and after drowning in the undercurrent of madness represent by his alter ego, Stein, he decided to rebel against his parents and the elders of the alliance as well so that he could achieve his dream or at least start working toward it. In the beginning, he was cautious since he did not want his forays into the clan’s forbidden techniques born from bioalchemy and psychic medical & surgical powers to be discovered before he could achieve his goal. To that end, he had chosen to restrict himself to using only those human guinea pigs whom he could be sure wouldn’t be missed by anyone (aka outsiders, not part of his family/clan), most importantly, his family whom he knew could recognize the signs of his research into bioalchemy if they were to come across them. For a while, this strategy worked well enough and he did start achieving the results he was looking for all along. However, unfortunately, due to the incredible degree of duress the test subjects faced from the bioalchemy research, they always ended up dying afterwards. As a result, at the suggestion that his alter ego, Stein, had made to try to remedy the situation, Zhāng began to conduct his research using members of his own family/clan due to the fact that they had bodies that were far more resilient than that of the average person. His results were even more successful than before, but little did he know that he would eventually be found out before achieving his goal.

Part 3: Crime & Punishment
The whole travesty had started on one fateful night, when the land was dark, and the blood moon high in the sky was the only light. In the days before then, always seemingly in coincidence with the sighting of a blood moon in the night sky, a steady stream of people had started to go missing with very little trace as to what agency had overtaken them. At first, it had just been people unrelated to the clan/family, but soon even people from Zhāng’s own clan/family also started to vanish inexplicably and it was this change that had finally alerted Zhāng’s parents and the elders of his clan/family to the fact that something was indeed amiss with the situation and set them to the task of investigating the matter thoroughly. After a while, they managed to finally pick up the trail of the missing people and traced it all the way back to a secret lab located some distance away within the grounds of the estate owned by the alliance and their own clan/family. Once there, Zhāng’s parents along with a small three man cell consisting of the clan’s personal guard managed to infiltrate the lab and broke through every one of the defensive lines that he had managed to lay as traps to ensnare any potential interlopers. Then, they made their way through the narrow, winding corridors of the lab and reached the inner part of the lab. Of course, what awaited them inside, or rather who awaited them, came as a total surprise to them, mostly because at that moment, the only light in the room that they could see was the rather dim crimson light of the blood moon which was filtering into it through a giant skylight set into the ceiling.
”Aw, what a pity…and after I had laid so many booby traps to give me advance warning of any and all overly curious intruders too…”
So said the figure whose back was facing Zhāng’s parents and the rest of their party at the time and who, while uttering those words as some strange welcome message, stepped out of the shadows which had swaddled him up till now due to how the moon’s light. As he stepped toward what seemed to be the only source of light in the entire room, that being a large lamp affixed to the room’s ceiling which loomed high overhead, he snapped his long almost skeletal fingers once. Right on cue, the large ceiling lamp blazed to life, casting its muted glow into the room, revealing the identity of the one who stood right beneath it to some degree, but causing unnerving, long shadows to envelop the surroundings partially…and that figure was revealed to be none other than Zhāng himself…or so it seemed to his parents and the rest of their party for the figure had his proportions almost exactly, save for the fiery orange mane-like long hair and pale, amber yellow eyes which adorned his face, making him seem like some sort of strange, apex predator beast. Before they could confirm his identity though, the figure cut them off
”I wasn’t expecting you…I should have known…that you would get past anything I had in store for you…after all, it is you who know me best in this world…my dear mother and father…”
His unnaturally rich baritone voice with its distinctly ominous edge startled his uninvited guests out of the stupor brought on by the confusion that apparently had them in its clutches, presumably thanks to the completely unexpected sight of what seemed to be their son and heir apparent in the midst of what seemed like the lab of a stereotypical mad scientist straight out of the movies of yore. The figure who had accosted them now leaned back against the large table which looked eerily like a surgery table from said movies, apparently waiting for their response and reaction. From what they could see of the room, there was a large shelf built into the wall on the right side with numerous levels each of which had a row of specimen jars of varying sizes containing all kinds of specimens, both human and not, immersed completely in formaldehyde for that was clear from the distinctly pungent odor that was wafting towards them from that shelf. In contrast on the left side of the room, once against built into the wall, was what seemed like a climate controlled storage unit with multiple rows of lockers, with some of them pulled partially out, revealing corpses, some of which were well known and others which were completely unfamiliar. The large surgery table in the center of the room, the floor of the room, all of the walls ,and even its ceiling as well as the surface of the lockers on the left wall and the specimen shelves on the right seemed to be covered completely with special tiles that displayed the optical illusion commonly known as the “Crazy Diamond” effect.
As if this didn’t already make the room surreal enough, here and there all around the room, there were bloodstains which varied in appearance from dry, crusted, and flaky to some that looked fresh, as if the blood had been spilled in the past few days. The surgery table also was covered in bloodstains of varying shapes, sizes, and ages and though they could not see it completely, behind the figure who seemed so much like their son, Zhāng’s parents and their three subordinates could just make out what was clearly a corpse which had been undergoing autopsy and experimentation till just the moment before they had entered the room. The corpse was connected to what looked like an IV drip stand and several other monitoring devices. Nearby, there was a cart with several trays on the very top of it that contained all manner of surgical implements, some covered with blood and other biological residue and others not.
On the bottom levels, there were bottles some half empty and others full, both unused and half used gauze rolls, surgical tape, packing material, materials used for emergency hemostasis, test tube racks with test tubes, and other items which they couldn’t begin to fathom the purpose for even with all their life experience. At the far end of the room, there was another large table with a series of various microscopes and other technology such as PCR sequencing machines, auto-analyzers, scanners, printers and the like, including a large computer monitor, CPU, wireless keyboard and mouse, and several hard drives connected to it. There was a high back, ergonomically designed rolling computer chair which was a few inches away from the table as if someone had been sitting there for several hours and then gotten up to go elsewhere.
After taking all of this in, Zhāng’s parents finally responded, the strength seeming to have returned to their voice and eyes
”W-What is…all this?…and who…the devil are you?! You seem like our son, but we know you are not!! So, identify yourself or stay silent at your own peril!!”
Upon hearing their outburst, the figure simply chuckled, but in the end, he decided to humor them by answering, albeit in a blatantly sarcastic manner
”Oh my…where ARE my manners?…I seem to have forgotten to introduce myself…but really, can’t you all tell just by looking?…How troublesome indeed…”
Zhāng’s parents were speechless as they heard the sarcasm and gall in his voice, but their subordinates were not so stunned and were quite vocal in their disapproval
”Putting that aside for now, who are you and what have you been up to here? We have noticed a steady stream of people go missing lately and most of those people were last seen with you on nights with the blood moon ascendant in the night sky!! Admit it!! You are behind this, aren’t you? You monster!!
The figure laughed callously at their reproach, but decided to unveil his name regardless, but not without having a further surprise in store
”The name is Stein, and since you all have caught me red-handed, there is no point in pretending now, I suppose…that said, since you have found me out, you will have to die as well…oh how sorry I feel for you all…”
The figure, now known to be Stein, paused as if to collect his thoughts, but then continued his narrative
”Since you’re all going to die here tonight, why don’t I humor your last wishes?…After all, it’s not like any of you’ll be alive to blab this to anyone outside this room after tonight…I want take everything that piques my interest in this world and make it mine!!”
Stein followed this with a maniacal, clearly unhinged laugh that sent chills of fear coursing through his audience, naturally through his parents’ subordinates, but also, surprisingly enough, through them as well for they could not believe these words were coming out of someone with their son’s body. However, they had to find out more before they could drag him before the council of elders, so they tried to continue the conversation
”Everything?! What do you mean by that?!”
Stein let loose another laugh with the same ice-cold edge to it, but since he felt his boredom being kept at bay by this back and forth, he chose to humor them once again
”Oh…I am sure you have already guessed…I want to unravel all the mysteries of this universe of ours…and then collect all the resultant knowledge within myself, for you may well know, information holds a vast degree of power…but alas, there are not enough years in even the longest lifespan to accomplish a herculean task like this one…and so, I wish to acquire eternal youth and immortality as a means to circumvent this problem so that I may one day realize this ultimate end goal.”
Needless to say, both his parents and their subordinates were horrified at the reprehensible idea of their heir performing such gruesome human experimentation in order to achieve such an end, and could not remain silent
”You are…one of the greatest scions of our clan and family…how could…how could you ever even consider doing such a terrible thing?!”
When he heard them trying to appeal to his non-existent morality, Stein laughed again, in that same disconcertingly deranged manner, and attacked his uninvited guests without any further preamble…and without so much as a single pause or hesitation. He slaughtered the subordinates who came along with his parents in the most brutally sadistic manner possible and then turned on his parents, attempting to silence them as well. For a time, since they had taught him all of the deepest secrets of the secret arts of their clan/family, he was able to fight them on equal ground. However, since he had not yet mastered his powers to the same extent that both of his parents had their own, he was eventually overcome and taken prisoner. His parents then marched him back to the innermost sanctum of the clan compound where the courthouse stood with all the elders from both sides of the alliance stood, waiting for their return with worry and melancholy clearly apparent in their eyes even though their aged, wrinkled faces displayed stalwart frowns on their lips. Once there, Stein was then presented, bound and chained, before the elders by his parents whose faces now mirrored the same disappointed and worried expression which could be seen on the faces of the alliance’s elders.
The head of the group of elders, a man named Paracelsus Frankenstein, began the proceedings which would ultimately determine Stein’s fate. On behalf of all the elders, he asked Stein the obvious question, the same one that had been on the lips of his parents’ subordinates before their untimely demise
”Simple…it’s because the universe reveals its innermost secrets only to those who are willing and able to sacrifice years and years of their lives to the dedicated, relentless study of said secrets…to the ones who are willing and able to go beyond normal human limitations, morality and logic and who would immerse themselves completely in this pursuit without an iota of hesitation!! Only they will be considered truly worthy of such a transcendental honor!!
Upon hearing the reason for his crimes, both his parents and the elders were shocked beyond belief, but that apparently didn’t give them pause, for they pushed him further
”BUT THERE HAS TO BE A DEEPER REASON FOR THIS!!! SURELY YOU COULDN’T HAVE SACRIFICED ALL OF THESE INNOCENT LIVES MERELY FOR THIS VAIN OBJECTIVE OF YOURS?!”
That remark sent Stein over the edge into the abyss of his madness, and he roared, his voice heavy with unbridled rage and ferocity that almost seemed feral in intensity because of its inherent rich, baritone nature
”YOU WANT TO KNOW THE REAL REASON?! HAH!! DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH!! A BUNCH OF OLD, DODDERING FOOLS LIKE YOURSELVES COULD NEVER EVEN BEGIN TO COMPREHEND…THE LEVEL OF MISERY AND STRESS THAT HAS BEEN BUILDING UP INSIDE US!! YOU…WHO ARE ALL COMFORTABLE WITH AND RESIGNED…TO THIS UTTERLY DISGUSTING LEVEL OF MEDIOCRITY!! WE ARE SICK OF PUTTING UP WITH IT!!...NONE OF YOU HAVE ANY RIGHT TO CRITICIZE US!! DON’T YOU DARE PRETEND TO BE SAINTS…FOR I KNOW ALL THE DARK SECRETS BURIED IN THE PAST OF THIS SO CALLED BRILLIANT ALLIANCE!! THIS ALLIANCE IS NOWHERE NEAR AS CLEAN AND PRETTY AS IT IS MADE OUT TO BE!!
He paused in this tirade of his only because his body was now demanding oxygen and his vocal and respiratory muscles were screaming in protest due to the unexpected load upon them, but before too long he continued, cutting his interrogators off before they had a chance to question him further
”…YOU…INSUFFERABLE BASTARDS!! ALL OF YOU…AND THE EXCRUCIATING TORMENT THAT YOU HAVE PUT MY OTHER HALF THROUGH WITH YOUR RIDICULOUS EXPECTATIONS…ARE THE VERY REASON I WAS BORN!! SOMEDAY, I WILL MAKE YOU PAY FOR YOUR MERCILESS TREATMENT OF HI…”
Unfortunately for Stein, before he could finish, his other half (Zhāng), took back control of his body, albeit quite unexpectedly because Stein was not able to react in time to stop him. However, due to the fact that he had been dormant all this time while his darker personality had control of his body, Zhāng was of course, completely unaware of the situation as it stood now. However, from the thoroughly shell-shocked expressions he noticed on the faces of all those around him, he was able to surmise that something truly unforeseen had happened in the courtroom. So, with a distinct hint of hesitation in his voice which was normally so smooth, silky, and mellifluous; he dared to broach the subject even though he sensed it to be quite the risky topic
”Um…so…uh, what exactly…happened here?…All of you look…like you have been given a terrible shock…one that was altogether…unexpected…”
Since he was not conversant with the twists and turns the situation had taken, he was equal parts confused and curious too, but he didn’t have to wait too long because the distinct change in his appearance, namely the fiery orange hair morphing back to the default half black and half white hair, the pale amber yellow eyes returning to their normal warm brownish red hue and losing the steely edge they had up till then, as well as the rich baritone voice being replaced by the usual smooth, silky, and mellifluous one had startled his interrogators back to reality
”So it was true after all…you are not one in body and mind, but rather two minds sharing one body…that explains a lot…”
The realization slammed Zhāng like a truck, for it was then that he knew that his shameful secret had been revealed for all to see, and the damage it had caused was irreparable. As if that was not enough, it seemed that while he had been asleep, his “evil” half, Stein had not only said, but also committed a series of unforgivable transgressions for which both of them would pay for dearly before long. However, before he could ask why, the judge, aka the head of the elder council, had handed down the verdict which was of course, punitive
”For the heinous crimes you have committed and the numerous laws of not only alchemy but also of the alliance and clan as well, Zhāng Frankenstein, son of Lord Ziegfroyd and Lady Otohime and sole heir to the next leader seat of the alliance, we the council of elders hereby sentence you to a lifetime of imprisonment!! Henceforth, it would be wise of you to spend your days in contemplation of your grave sin and vain, corrupted desires and how you can make amends for them!!
With that proclamation, his fate was thus sealed, permanently for all intents and purposes. Of course, he couldn’t have known that, after only a short time, his life would have yet another unexpected twist, this coming in the form of freedom from his imprisonment.
=============
Part 4: Aftermath
And so, Zhāng began to spend his days locked away deep within the confines of the alliance’s dungeon, isolated from any and all contact and only given the bare minimum amount of food and drink as was necessary to keep him alive. Naturally, due to the vast reach and the powerful influence the alliance held, he was certain no one would come to his rescue. He couldn’t worry about that though, for he had more pressing concerns to deal with at present, namely, finding out exactly what had transpired between his parents, their now deceased subordinates, and his darker half in that apparently secret lab in which they had found him when they arrested him. To his great dismay, he found that while he had been dormant, Stein, his dark half had been using his body to conduct absolutely gruesome and outright reprehensible human transmutation experiments and also using human test subjects for testing out the various supernatural medical and surgical techniques he had been developing up to that point in order to try to refine and enhance their potency, applicability, efficiency, and other such features, albeit in a rather cruel, cold-blooded manner. He had reproached his darker half for daring to use his body to conduct these experiments on those innocent human guinea pigs
”Why would you do that?! Couldn’t standard lab rats sufficed for such experiments as the ones we were talking about?! You’re such a pain, you know that?! Because of you, I was also dragged into this and now look where we are!! I never imagined or even dreamed I would ever be stuck in a prison cell…and least of all because of having a second self who doesn’t know his own limits!!”
Stein had merely laughed when he heard the harsh scolding his “good” half , Zhāng, was giving him
”Oh shut up!!…And, get off your goddamn high horse!! I was only acting out your deepest desire!! We are one and the same in everything, except perhaps physical appearance and certain preferences, but the majority of our minds overlap greatly!! I was born from your subconscious as a result of your repressed hatred of all the silly expectations you have placed on you by your family, in case you’ve forgotten already!!…So, don’t go lecturing me about being a goody-two shoes because you are just as guilty as I am, you got it?! You’re too spineless and don’t have the balls to do what needs to be done for us to accomplish our heart’s desire, so the task falls to me!! Surely, your intellect lets you see and comprehend that much!!”
Thus, the days filled with utter boredom apart from this and other internal dialogue between Zhāng and Stein passed into weeks which then stretched into months until one day, after night had fallen, the prison warden accompanied by three guards, all of them coincidentally women he was deeply familiar with; came to his isolation chamber and after opening the door, they let him out without so much as a word, but the disgruntled expressions on their faces spoke volumes, so he could guess at what had happened to let this fortuitous turn of events occur without any elaboration from his overseers. He was made to march in silence back to the same courthouse where he had first received his sentence and where, once again, both his parents and also the other elders of the alliance were lying in wait for him. Upon arrival, his restraints were removed and then he was pushed forward to receive the update to his verdict. This time, however, it was his parents who broke the silence
”Zhāng Frankenstein, surely a man of your intellectual prowess can guess why you have been brought here at this time?”
He merely nodded and replied, but not before letting out an exasperated sigh
”Let’s see, I can’t begin to imagine why, but perhaps…since I am the only direct genetic heir to you both, I alone can inherit the position of future head of the Frankenstein-Kuroyakushi alliance thanks to that ancient edict issued by our great founders…so, even though I have committed the greatest of taboos in the long history of all of alchemical arts and have broken several of the most important laws of the alliance for which any other regular member would have been executed without mercy, you cannot have me killed off and instead sent me to the alliance’s prison stronghold…but then again, that’s just my uneducated guess…”
He paused to collect his thoughts and while looking up at his parents with a sardonic frown on his thin lips, he continued
”oh yeah…I almost forgot…there has probably been great tumult and unrest among the alliance’s regular grunts, so while you great and oh so virtuous elders cannot have me killed off, you certainly can’t have me locked up here either…lest the rest of the alliance revolt...I am guessing that would be a really bad situation for the lot of you…hence you want to exile me…to drive me away from my birthright…and wow, you don’t even have the decency to address me as your son…to admit to my face that you have henceforth disowned me…who could possibly have seen this coming?! Certainly not little old me…”
His sarcasm flowed freely and heavily for his irritation with everyone around him had reach breaking point by that time. Nevertheless, he knew this was the most logical option so, despite not liking it one bit, he resigned himself to it and galvanized himself to go out into the world and to live his life on his own terms from then on. So, after all the necessary paperwork was finished, he was given adequate seed money and other basic resources to last him wherever he decided to set down roots in the end, but not before sealing most of his natural skills as well as most of his more supernatural ones almost completely, thus leaving him just above average as opposed to what he was before in all areas of expertise. He traveled the world over for a while and finally settled down in the Massachusetts, USA. From here, it remains to be seen what sort of path he will follow into the future.

IV.Equipment
» Equipment:
Non-Quincy Equipment:
- Standard personal electronics (smartphone, laptop, smartwatch, hands-free headset, smart glasses, etc.)
- Vehicles (concept car and/or concept motorbike)
- Physician’s tools (lab coat, stethoscope, tuning fork, ophthalmoscope, scalpels, surgical scissors, forceps, suture material, tourniquet tubing, otoscope, knee hammer, penlight, etc.)
- Field medical kit(gauze rolls, bandages, surgical gloves, syringes, vials, plasma and military ration pills, etc.)
- Other generic items useful in everyday life (keys, stationery, backpack, etc.)
- Palm size pocket dimensional generator (for carrying most of his Quincy gear as well as some of the more cumbersome items needed for his profession in storage so that he is not encumbered by the weight of whatever he cannot carry o his person or in his backpack.)
==============
Quincy Equipment:
- Gintō:
These are small 5 cm long tubes made of soul synthesized silver which the Quincy use to store liquefied reishi which they employ in a select series of spells unique to them. He carries around as many as 30 of them in two medium size pouches, each holding 15 of them. When he doesn't need them, he stores them in his pocket dimension generator device. - Seele Schneider:
These are unique arrow weapons used by the Quincy which are the only weapons in their arsenal that have a blade emerging from them. They take the form of a thin, silver colored weapon which, when activated, has a glowing blue blade. Since the blade's edge makes ultra high speed revolutions, the vibrations from these can be used to loosen the bonds between the reishi of whatever they happen to cut, which allows the Quincy to then easily absorb the freed reishi. He carries 10 of them for use just in case he needs them and stores them when he doesn't in his pocket dimension generator device. - Sanrei Glove:
It is a white glove which extends up the forearm, stopping 2 inches from the elbow. A Quincy's power can be significantly increased by training with this. This is because the glove works by repelling reishi, thus hampering the Quincy ability to call forth their spirit weapon. The Quincy train by firing their spirit weapon while wearing the glove as continuously as possible for an entire week. At the end, they will find their powers at a higher level than before. He carries just one as would any Quincy who has it, but in his case he stores it in his pocket dimension generator. - Quincy Cross:
Like all other Quincy, both Zhāng & Stein also possess the Quincy Cross which acts as a medium for their racial skills. However, their Cross is unique in that it takes the form of an ultra-compact reactor like device which is embedded snugly and irretrievably in the dead center of their chest from where it regulates the deployment of their various supernatural skills. This was done in order to try to compensate for their occasional spells of absent-mindedness as well as to avoid the hassle of taking it out and putting it back in their equipment holster each time they need to call on it and also to try to stabilize the balance of power and control between the two halves, Zhāng & Stein.
V.Natural Abilities & Skills
» Natural Skills:
Intellectual Faculties:
Since Zhāng/Stein subscribes to the motto “a sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body”, he has always made a conscious effort to cultivate the mental capacity, aka “sound mind, part 1”, which he had inherited from his parents not only because it could be useful to him both in combat as well as in his professional life and personal one too, but also because he craves mental exaltation and loves the thrill that solving problems gives him. The more difficult the mental challenge, the better he performs and as a result, he often uses this aptitude of his to break down any problem or situation he encounters into its component parts and analyse them quickly and effectively. Then, he goes further by using the information he has gleaned to try to devise an efficient countermeasure or solution to the issue at hand which more of then than not, work out the way he planned it in the first place. He also uses this aptitude of his to synthesize seemingly unrelated, disparate bits of data from his experiences in any given situation so that he can use the results to try to predict the flow of future events, both near and distant, as far as possible so that he can then try to prepare solutions or at least some basic plans and backup plans to try to forestall and problems that may crop up later on due to said events (e.g. going from presenting complaint to the various differential diagnoses and later to treatment, when he has to avoid any traps set for him by an enemy/target). He can also use his talents in this area to try to modify any plan he makes on the fly based on the changes that are taking place in the situation on the ground, thus allowing him to be somewhat flexible in his responses and modus operandi at any time (one of the ways in which this comes in real handy is especially in those occasions when patients or enemies/targets present him with unforeseen complications or other challenges that are harder to deal with than usual). These are just some of the ways he can use his intellectual faculties. Therefore, he can be employed as a strategist by any who wish to seek his aid for whatever reason.
------------
Physical Prowess:
Since Zhāng/Stein subscribes to the motto “a sound soul dwells within a sound mind and a sound body”, he has always made a conscious effort to cultivate the physical prowess, aka “a sound body, part 1”, which he had inherited from his parents not only because it could be useful to him both in combat as well as in his professional life and personal one too, but also because doing so would help him avoid as many preventable health problems as possible. He can use his physical prowess not only to help clear his mind when he feels it being overwhelmed by the many thoughts which are always running through it, but also to keep his mind agile by supplying his brain with as much blood as possible. It is also beneficial since it helps him to try to subdue whomever needs to be subdued in a given situation (e.g. unruly patients when security is busy, anyone who seeks to do him harm, etc.). It can also help him keep up with others who have comparable skill to his own in this area, particularly in speed and strength, at least as far as possible. These are just some of the ways he can use his physical prowess. As a result, even though it’s not the best way in which to deploy him, whomever is seeking his aid can call on him to actually fight in their main or reserve armed forces as well if or when the situation forces them to do so.
------
Martial Skill:
Due to all the training he has had to undergo since his younger years, Zhāng/Stein has learned to use a variety of different weapons out of which he prefers ranged weapons most due to his Quincy heritage (and out of these, he specializes even more into handgun firearms, thus making his actual spirit weapon manifest either as a 6 shot revolver or as a sniper rifle rather than in form of the more traditional Quincy bow and arrow). His talent with ranged weapons also comes in handy when using his ginto since, for a fair few of the techniques he knows with them, he actually has to throw the ginto at the target/enemy with a fair degree of accuracy and precision for the technique to work at all. The other type of weapon he knows at least the basics of how to use if needed is melee range blade weapons and this skill is useful in allowing him wield his seele schneider as a sword properly as and when the situation demands it. It is also good to have since it allows him to have a steady hand when using scalpels or other sharp implements whenever he has to perform surgeries or other procedures which involve their use. Aside from weapon skills, he also has some basic knowledge of hand to hand combat from having learned it while on his travels before he settled down in America. He focused on a handful in particular since he thought they would be most useful: practical boxing skills, Brazilian jujitsu, Muay Thai, and Krav Maga. As a result, even if his spiritual abilities are taken away or temporarily interfered with, he would still have these as a backup to rely on while he thinks up a way to restore his powers. Furthermore, when combined with his physical prowess , they would be useful for when he has to subdue unruly patients, unwanted interlopers, etc without the use of his supernatural powers. However, due to his skill with weapons being focused mainly in the ranged weaponry, he would be most useful to whomever has hired him if they place him in the mid range to long range positions when in the battlefield, but it push comes to shove, it might just be possible for him to serve on the front lines as well.
------
Concentration/Perception Ability:
Thanks to all the training he has undergone to develop them and also because of the innate gifts he has inherited from his parents, Zhāng/Stein has developed some modicum of ability when it comes to concentration and observation. His ability to observe helps him in those situations when he needs to be aware of, capture, and register in his mind as much detail as possible (e.g. when he is navigating his way within any given body cavity and has to watch out for fragile/important nerves, delicate and crucial blood vessel and like; when he is trying to pierce some illusion or other trickery the enemy/target is trying to deceive him with, when he needs to detect any traps that someone or something has laid for him, etc.). His concentration on the other hand, comes into play when it is crucial during those times when the situation at hand demands that he keep up continuous or near continuous use of the various elements of his skill/ability repertoire (e.g. when the enemy/target is trying to wear him down in a battle of attrition, when he has complicated surgeries or other dealing with patients back to back, etc.). These two elements of his focus enhance his ability to serve his clients or employers either as an advisor mainly or in an emergency, as a bodyguard or soldier.
------
Fortitude:
Thanks to the brutal mental and physical endurance training that they had undergone in the past during their childhood, both Zhāng/Stein have at least some modicum of mental determination and pain endurance (sound mind, part 2, sound body part 2). This is useful in those situations where he is trying to do things like enduring torture, resisting probing interrogations if captured, fending off illusory techniques, neutralizing noxious agents which he has been exposed to, etc. It is also helpful when there are distracting and/or dissuading elements, either environmental or in the form of entities, which could impede his progress toward clearing whatever objectives he has been given in some situation or another. In his professional life, this would allow him to endure long hours either when the patient load is high or if he happens to be stuck trying to perform a particularly difficult surgery or procedure. It would also allow him to keep his cool when dealing with the families of patients or any other delicately precarious scenario which requires him to deal with and resolve it quickly and efficiently. Thank to this, he can remain on the front lines longer if necessary or stick with his employers through even gruelling battles of attrition since he can endure the enemy’s efforts to wear him down to some degree.
------
Alchemical, Medical, & Surgical Knowledge & Skills:
Thanks in part to both the extensive training he has received in his younger years and the practical experience he has gained since being exiled and travelling the world while practicing as an alchemist as well as a medical doctor and even surgeon, Zhāng/Stein has both knowledge and practical skills in alchemy, medicine, and surgery as well (of the mundane sort as well as the supernatural kind). His skills in medical diagnosis allow him to diagnose diseases, disorders, or other conditions while his skills in alchemy can be used to craft a variety of pharmaceutical remedies for these ailments if they can be treated by such substances. His surgical skills come in handy when the disease, disorder, or condition requires him to do things like treating it by excision of the offending element from the patient’s body and then repairing the damage afterwards to whatever degree possible. They could even help him with de-bulking surgeries if need be in a given situation. In battle, his skill and knowledge of alchemy allows him to craft healing potions to help his allies, a variety of noxious agents to debilitate his foes, and even do things like manufacturing flesh golems to help bolster his fighting power. His skill and knowledge of medical diagnosis and surgery would let him detect anything wrong with his allies and to administer the appropriate treatment in response quickly and efficiently. As a result, even if he were to get captured, his employers or allies wouldn’t need to be worried because he can use his skills and knowledge to secure a better position when bargaining with his captors for his freedom and also to induce them into keeping him alive till the POW exchange if/when it does happen later on.

VI. Unique Skills & Abilities
Since both Zhāng & Stein share the same body, they share their unique skills as they do their natural ones. Their particular expertise tends toward two fields, the first being bioalchemy and the other being those of a supernatural physician. Their skill at bioalchemy lets them manipulate their own body through the use of reishi to achieve various effects, like manifesting physical disguises (which cannot be dispelled easily), modify their body parts in one way or another, or even augment their survivability through more subtle means (e.g. increasing lung capacity temporarily, manifesting gills in addition to their lungs to breather underwater, increase density of their skin and bones, etc.). Their aptitude for the skills of a supernatural physician allows them to do things such as heal injuries, detoxify targets, sterilize food and drink, scan targets for signs of life force, but also to look for anything amiss (e.g. poison, any infestation, any pathogenic infection, etc.), and so on.
BIOALCHEMY:
Tier 4:
Integumentary System:
» Name: Integument Mastery
» Level: 4
» Type: Supplementary, Unique (Non-Racial)
» Damage: N/A
» Range: Self only
» Speed: N/A
» Duration: 6 posts (unless dispelled manually before then by any means)
» Description:
The user infuses the biomaterial that makes up his skin and related components with his reiryoku (spirit energy) in order to stimulate and gain complete control over the behavior of said biomaterial. This allows him to freely manipulate his skin and related components (e.g hair, nails, etc.) through the use of related techniques to achieve various results as per the needs of any given situation (e.g. make his skin tougher, grow his nails into claws/talons, lengthen/shorten his hair, change his hair, skin, or nail color, etc.). This usually takes 1 post to 3 posts maximum to achieve depending on the complexity of the specific application that the user has in mind (e.g. 1 post for claw/talon creation versus 3 posts for full physical disguise manifestation).
» Downside: This does not change the user’s energy signature, it merely changes their form and outward appearance, so while it is possible to fool visual sensors, it would not allow for deceiving those who can sense and locate energy signatures. After this technique ends, whatever changes are incurred through the use of this technique are reversed and the user’s body returns to its normal appearance and functionality. Then, the user goes on a 3 post cooldown until it can be used again.
» Name: Claw/Talon CQC Arts
» Level: 4
» Type: Offensive, Unique (Non-Racial)
» Damage: equal to user’s base strength
» Range: Point blank to 1.5 m away
» Speed: equal to user’s speed
» Duration: 3 posts (if uninterrupted by user or outside forces)
» Description:
After using the “Integument Mastery” technique to apply his reiryoku to the keratin in his finger and toenails in order to transmute them into a set of thick, large, razor sharp claws (on the hands) and talons (on the feet), the user takes the proper stance and then launches himself at any enemy/target or even multiple ones within striking range should he be surrounded, attempting to attack them with a variety of close combat maneuvers that take advantage of his claws and talons. Upon successful impact, this technique not only deals basic damage equal to the user’s Strength, but also causes the targets/enemies (whether single or multiple) to suffer several kinds of profusely bleeding wounds all over their bodies. These wounds temporarily decrease the victim’s Durability by a full level from their baseline for however long they last until healed.
» Downside:
The claws and talons only have as much durability as the user, so any force with greater Strength which is directed at them for more than 1 post can actually break them before the 3 post limit on their duration is over. If this happens, the user has to spend 1 additional post to grow them back.
==========================
MEDICAL/SURGICAL ARTS:
Tier 4:
» Name: Detection Palm
» Level: 4
» Type: Supplementary, Unique (Non-Racial)
» Damage: N/A
» Range: Self and/ or Point blank to 3 m away from user (if used on others)
» Speed: N/A
» Duration: 1 to 3 posts (depending on the nature of the objects detected)
» Description:
First, the user channels his reiryoku to the palm of one or both hands and concentrates it there, creating a gentle, light green glow around it. Then, he lays his hands on the target (s) or points them in the target’s direction, letting the energy flow into the target’s body (whether single or multiple, but if multiple only up to 2 targets maximum, including the user). While the user’s energy is flowing through the target(s), he will be able to analyse the target's body, thus allowing him to assess the current state of the target (s) and identify unusual conditions, including injuries, poisons, and diseases and thus decide on the best course of treatment to restore the target(s) back to full health. The user can also cast this in order to enhance his ability to detect the presence of any entities or energies in the immediate vicinity. As a result, while this technique is active, the user’s mental deduction is increased by two levels beyond the base.
» Downside:
When using this technique, the user has to expend a great deal of mental energy to focus properly and has to stay still while using it. So while this technique is active, the user’s general speed is decreased by two levels below the base.
» Name: Improvised Cast Creation
» Level: 4
» Type: Supplementary, Unique (Non-Racial)
» Damage: protects against damage equal to one level higher than the user’s base durability and restores up to one level maximum of the target’s durability from its decreased level
» Range: Self and/ or Point blank to 3 m away from user (if used on others)
» Speed: N/A
» Duration: 6 posts
» Description:
First, the user channels his reiryoku into his palms. After that, he funnels it into suitable, common materials he can find in the immediate vicinity in order to attract them together in order to craft a makeshift bandage or cast by hardening and compacting said materials into a single unit which he places around the injured body part of any given target(s), after sterilizing them properly. This improvised cast or bandage helps the injured body part heal and protects it for as long as the healing process is active on it. This spell is primarily meant for use in those emergency situations where the user is not in possession of the necessary bandage or cast and cannot take the target(s) to a nearby place of healing. This spell can also be cast in a combat situation to hinder the target(s) capacity to move at their top speed for as long as it is active.
» Downside:
Since having this cast hinders their movement, the target of this technique will find their general speed decreased by two levels below its base.

VI. Quincy Skills & Abilities
» Strong Spiritual Awareness:
Thanks to their pure-blood Quincy heritage, both Zhāng & Stein have ability to visualize spiritual/supernatural phenomena that is stronger than that of most normal humans. The application of this ability in battle is fairly apparent since they can almost always be aware of the presence of supernatural entities or supernaturally awakened humans or humanoids in their vicinity and so can guard against most basic surprise maneuvers from them and thus try to preserve their health and welfare by avoiding confrontations with them whenever possible. In the event that this detect beforehand and run away from confrontation strategy doesn’t work, they can perhaps use their strong spiritual awareness to try to search for weaknesses in the defenses of these individuals and try to exploit them in order to gain victory over them or at least drive them away. As a result of this ability, outside combat, they are especially skilled in detecting when patients/clients are suffering from a malady which is otherworldly in origin (e.g. curses, hexes, supernatural pathogens, etc.). For this same, reason, they are also called by the police forces whenever there happens to be a supernatural criminal or perhaps a death due to supernatural causes, but only if his betters in this area are tied up with other matters. In their daily lives, they can use this ability to try to be more aware of the general mood of their surroundings (at least the Stein side would anyway) so that they don’t make silly mistakes and can try to save themselves from looking like fools.
====================
» Quincy Cross:
==========================
» Reishi Manipulation:
Just like any decently developed Quincy, both Zhāng & Stein also possess the ability to manipulate reishi at will. In addition to using the various Quincy racial techniques via this skill, they primarily use this skill to stabilize and augment their twin unique powers, that is bioalchemy and supernatural medical/surgical arts, which then allow them to do things like transmuting parts of their body to look and function differently, to grow entirely alien body parts, to assume physical disguises, and sprout flesh golems on the bioalchemy side; and on the supernatural medical/surgical arts side, they can use their talent at reishi manipulation to improve their ability to perform techniques like creating energy scalpels, using energy based suture threads, doing remote healing, creating improvised bandages/casts, scanning for any foreign pathogens or substances that have entered either their own body or that of others, extracting any noxious agents safely from the patient/victim’s body without access to specialized equipment, creating/administering poisonous substances of various forms, or even detecting the life force signatures of entities present in the vicinity. The other common application they employ this reishi manipulation skill to do is deployment and usage of their Quincy spirit weapon as well as the various ginto techniques. The ginto techniques are as follows:
1-Ginto Techniques:
» Name: Gritz - “Five Pronged Restraints”
» Level: Adept
» Type: Supplementary, Quincy Racial
» Damage: N/A (this doesn’t inflict damage, but can withstand any damage from any target/enemy whose spirit energy manipulation skill is weaker than that of the user by at least one level)
» Range: 3 m away from user
» Speed: equal to user’s general speed
» Duration: 3 posts (if uninterrupted by any means)
» Description:
The user first throws a single ginto at a single enemy/target and then, at the moment of contact with them, he chants the incantation “A silver rod strikes the five-fingered stone bed - Gritz!” as quickly as possible while gathering a stream of reishi in each hand which he then brings together. Then, immediately afterwards, the thrown ginto emits a film of reishi which takes the shape of a pentagonal Quincy cross which is large enough to fully encapsulate and successfully restrain a full grown adult man upon successful activation. This occurs within 1 post and lasts for a maximum of 3 posts as long as its not interrupted by the enemy/target, disabled by some other external force, or cancelled by the user.
» Downside:
Since the ginto is manually launched without any targeting mechanism assisting the throw, it is possible to dodge it. It is also possible to block this technique to prevent its very activation. Even if it does activate successfully, its possible to destroy it with a powerful enough energy based technique. Like with all ginto techniques, it’s a single use technique, so the same ginto cannot be reused again after being expended for this technique. Furthermore, like all other ginto techniques, this also has to be prepared beforehand, and cannot be done if the user is engaged in active combat.
------
» Name: Sprenger - “Blast”
» Level: Adept
» Type: Offensive, Quincy Racial
» Damage: proportional to the user’s reishi manipulation skill level
» Range: 3 m in all directions with target/enemy at the epicenter
» Speed: N/A
» Duration: 5 posts for set up, 1 post for explosion
» Description:
First, the user sets up 5 seele schneider to create a pentagonal seal which activates when any object or person comes within the central spot in the pentagon. Upon successful activation, the dense reishi emanating from seele schneider which have been acting as accumulators binds and traps them by wrapping tightly around their legs, thus anchoring them to the ground (the trapped target/enemy suffers a one level drop in general speed below their base while this technique is active). Then, the user drops a single ginto’s worth of ultra-concentrated, liquefied reishi onto the handle of the final, sixth seele schneider placed in the center of the pentagonal seal and this liquefied reishi from the ginto acts as a trigger upon successful activation, generating a massive, violent explosion within the confines of the pentagonal trap created by the 5 seele schneider that can be devastating to the target/enemy trapped inside if they don’t have the necessary durability or defense skills to protect themselves or break out in time (if the target/enemy has a base durability that is one or more levels below the reishi manipulation skill of the user). This technique takes 5 posts to set up completely, though the actual explosion would last only 1 post.
» Downside:
The long preparation time combined with the equally long charging time means that this technique is highly impractical if not totally useless in active combat unless the user has allies who can stall the opponent/enemy long enough to buy time for the user to set up the formation properly. It is also possible to block or interrupt this technique to prevent its very activation. Even if it does activate successfully, its possible to destroy it with a powerful enough energy based technique. Like with all ginto techniques, it’s a single use technique, so the same ginto cannot be reused again after being expended for this technique.
------
2-Ginto Techniques:
» Name: Wolke - “Emerald Chalice”
» Level: Adept
» Type: Defensive, Quincy Racial
» Damage: N/A (it protects the user against damage of up to 2 levels higher than the user’s reishi manipulation skill)
» Range: up to 3 m away in any one direction (can only be used by the user to shield himself and up to 1 other target maximum, should the target be right behind him)
» Speed: N/A
» Duration: 1 post
» Description:
The user employs two ginto and tilts them in the direction where they want to activate this technique while chanting the incantation “Tilt the goblet to the west - Wolke!”. Upon successful activation, this technique then immediately creates a large blast in the direction the two ginto are pointing which can be used to cushion the impact of the user and/or target’s fall which could otherwise prove to be hazardous to them. Alternately, the user can use the blast to diffuse the impending damage from up to 2 incoming attacks maximum as long as the enemy’s strength or spirit energy usage is not higher than that of his (user’s) reishi manipulation skill.
» Downside:
It is also possible to block this technique to prevent its very activation. Even if it does activate successfully, its possible to destroy it with a powerful enough energy based technique. Like with all ginto techniques, it’s a single use technique, so the same ginto cannot be reused again after being expended for this technique. Furthermore, like all other ginto techniques, this also has to be prepared beforehand, and cannot be done if the user is engaged in active combat.
------
4-Ginto Techniques:
» Name: Heizen - “Holy Bite”
» Level: Adept
» Type: Offensive, Quincy Racial
» Damage: deals damage proportional to the level of user’s reishi manipulation skill
» Range: up to 3 m away from user in any one direction
» Speed: equal to the user’s general speed
» Duration: 1 post
» Description:
The user first hurls 4 ginto in a rectangular formation in the direction he wants to use this technique and at whatever enemy/target he wants to hit with it. At the moment of successful impact, the user holds his hands in a cross formation while chanting the incantation “Feel the wrath of battle and accept this sacred chalice - Heizen!”. This causes the liquefied reishi coming out of the ginto to create a transparent, rectangular beam of energy which encloses the targeted space inside itself. Whatever is unlucky enough to get caught inside this space is instantly gouged out and purged completely causing it to slice right through the enemy/target, or at least as far as the user’s level in his reishi manipulation skill will allow him to do in that situation.
» Downside:
Since the 4 ginto are manually launched without any targeting mechanism assisting the throw, it is possible to dodge them. It is also possible to block this technique to prevent its very activation. Even if it does activate successfully, its possible to destroy the space created by this technique with a powerful enough energy based technique. Like with all ginto techniques, it’s a single use technique, so the same 4 ginto cannot be reused again after being expended for this technique. Furthermore, like all other ginto techniques, this also has to be prepared beforehand, and cannot be done if the user is engaged in active combat. Lastly, this technique can only damage what is actually successfully caught within the rectangular energy beam it produces, so anything outside will be safe from its effects.
Apart from direct combat, the various applications of their reishi manipulation are also useful in both their daily lives, and even more so in their professional ones. Some examples of this would be in their professional lives wherein their capacity to do near totally bloodless dissections in any surgery that needs such procedures through the use of their energy scalpels, being able to suture together almost any wound thanks to their energy based suture threads, creating temporary connections between various organs or blood vessels should the situation call for it, and so on comes in very handy in forestalling most complications that may arise from these procedures if done the mundane way. In their daily lives, their flesh golems can help move stuff from point A to point B, they can arrange things in a sufficiently artistic manner by getting a birds eye view using their ability to liberate certain sensory organs like their eye and still have it function properly, they can craft makeshift keys to their locks in case they lose the originals, among other things.
=================
» Hirenkyaku:
As they are similar to other basic Quincy in their racial skills, both Zhāng & Stein also know how to do the Quincy race’s special stepping method known as the Hirenkyaku. This technique involves creating a flowing stream of reishi beneath the user’s feet so that they can then ride atop this to boost their speed to higher than normal levels and even hover or fly over long distances. In battle, this ability is, of course, used to try to outrun or outmaneuver the enemy/target so that victory can be more easily achieved and with less effort as well. Outside battle, however, both Zhāng & Stein do use this ability to augment their professional capacity as they do with the other Quincy racial abilities. Since this technique allows them to create a reishi platform of sorts, apart from using it to boost their own speed, they usually employ this as a means to help them do things like transporting ill patients/injured allies out of danger quickly, moving study subjects from one area to another, or even to carry research materials along with them if the situation demands it.
=================
» Blut:
Like any other Quincy who know their basics, both Zhāng & Stein have also learned the essentials of the Blut and its two variants as well. This ability involves directing their internal reishi to either augment their offensive (blut arterie) or defensive (blut vene) potential by some degree. When these are used, it tends to be fairly obvious to any who have half way decent observation skills, especially due to the strain it causes to their bodies. Their applications in battle are, of course, as expected in that blut arterie is used to try to make up the difference between themselves and those opponents/targets that are on the superior end of the spectrum when it comes to offensive capacity while blut vene is used to try to outlast their opponents/targets, especially in those battles where the name of the game is attrition of the other side. When outside battle, however, like with all the other abilities they have, it is most often bent toward helping them facilitate the execution of various tasks in their professional or personal lives. For instance, since blut arterie helps bolster their offensive capacity, they could in theory at least, use it to help subdue an unruly patient who cannot be brought under control by other gentler means. Blut vene on the other hand, is usually used to boost their stamina and endurance which is quite handy, especially when they get stuck for long hours on end at the workplace. For example, in their daily lives, blut arterie and blut vene are often used in conjunction to boost their physical prowess temporarily so they can even accomplish things that are a fair degree more physically demanding than their everyday fare.

VI. Spirit Weapon
» Spirit Weapon Name: “Pfeilgewehr”
» Spirit Weapon Appearance:
Weapon:
Ammunition:
When stored in cylinder:
------
At the moment of impact
(The images above are not to scale, but are meant to simply convey the general appearance. The real sizes are actually as given in the description)
The “Pfeilgewehr” or “Dart Gun” is the Quincy spirit weapon wielded by both Zhāng & Stein since they are two personalities in the same one body. Instead of being a standard bow that the Quincy normally use, the “Pfeilgewehr” is somewhat unconventional in that it takes the form of a large revolver type handgun which is manifested as a completely solid construct through the use of the Quincy reishi manipulation ability and so is completely composed of reishi taken from the environment around them and powered by their own reiryoku. It is also unconventional in that unlike the usual Quincy spirit weapons which are blue, this one has been calibrated to be mostly gunmetal black colored with additional crimson red colored decal on its handle, barrel, and on the main body just in front of the cartridge (this last one and the one on the handle being an ace of spades design). It is 39 cm long from muzzle end to the end with the hammer, weighs 13 kg, is recoil powered and semi-automatic, and holds up to maximum of five rounds at a time in its cylinder which is inverted (the bottom most cylinder is line with the rifled barrel and the projectile therein is fired first rather than the topmost one being fired first).
The top half of the “Pfeilgewehr” has a reishi laser module built in which can be used with certain techniques inherent to the spirit weapon in order to guide the fired darts to their mark if necessary. The barrel can also have a muzzle brake attached to the end of the barrel to further assist in reducing recoil and muzzle flip side-effects. Along with this, the spirit weapon comes with a dense rubber encased grip which serves to absorb the backlash of the weapon’s recoil before it can affect the user too much. All of these safeguards help to some degree in stabilizing the weapon so that the user can fire the darts at the target/enemy more accurately and precisely.
This spirit weapon can use standard looking reishi composed rounds that look and act just like those from a standard gunpowder fueled S&W Magnum 500. However, unlike its standard gunpowder fueled counterpart, the “Pfeilgewehr” can also fire customized which are dart-like projectiles with the payload and an impact activated injector system hidden inside the body. Each of these has a hollow but thick walled, short, durable, beveled metal syringe needle tip so that they can inject their payload into the enemy/target upon successful impact. The metal needle tip is usually hidden inside the body of the dart and upon impact, is driven into the target/enemy to inject the dart's payload into then. This liquefied reishi payload inside each different type of dart is calibrated to cause certain status effects. These darts travel at the same velocity and have the same basic maximum effective range as a regular bullet shot from a standard gunpowder fueled revolver of the same category. To reload, the user swings the cylindrical cartridge out, empties the spent casings out, and then inserts six new ones, either manually, with a speed loader, or by using the appropriate ability of the spirit weapon to automatically spawn new rounds in the cylinders of the cartridge. Each of these rounds whether standard or custom, can range from ones that are 275 gr minimum to 700 gr maximum.
» Spirit Weapon Abilities:
The “Pfeilgewehr” is capable of several types of shot type techniques and a select few weapon support ones as well. Furthermore, it has the ability to load three different types of darts. The various status effects and types of the darts are as follows:
- Standards: These only do damage with no additional effects (this is based off a strength level that is equal to the user’s current reishi manipulation level).
- Effectors: These do not do any base damage at all, but afflict any one of various status effects which are debilitating to the enemy/target instead. These effects are as follows:
Tier 4:
Breakers: these reduce the target/enemy’s durability to one level below their baseline for a maximum of 3 posts.
Tracers: these cause the target/enemy to have a far higher and more detectable signature than normal for a maximum of 3 posts.
Bleeders: these cause the target/enemy to bleed much more easily and more profusely from any open wounds for a maximum of 3 posts. - Hybrids: these are a combination of the two above, only reduced in potency on both ends, namely with both reduced damage and slightly reduced effect duration as well, but can impose both simultaneously. The effects these have are the same types as those in the “Effectors” series.
(The various status effects and the capacity to load different types of darts are both counted as abilities of this spirit weapon. More will be added as the user progresses in experience and skill with this weapon).
The offensive and supplementary techniques of the “Pfeilgewehr” are as follows:
Tier 4:
» Name: Soulforce Shot
» Level: 4
» Type: Offensive, Quincy Racial
» Damage: does damage of a strength level equal to the user’s current reishi manipulation skill level
» Range: 50 to 100 m
» Speed: 602 m/s
» Duration: 1 post
» Description:
This is the most basic of the techniques the user can use with this spirit weapon. With each use, it allows him to fire a single, solid dart-like construct composed purely of reishi which is equal in size to a standard revolver bullet that ranges anywhere from 270 gr to a maximum of 700 gr. The darts fired with this technique have the range, speed, and damage described above. The dart can be any one of either standard, effector, or hybrid series, each of which has their own purpose as they contain reishi calibrated to just do direct damage, to afflict various effects instead of doing damage, or even both (though the hybrids do less damage and have a shorter duration of special status effect than their purist counterparts).
» Downside:
Any target/enemy with a durability higher than the user’s reishi manipulation skill could shrug off the impact damage from this technique easily. There is a 1 post cool down period between each use of this technique.
--------
» Name: Infinite Ammo
» Level: 4
» Type: Supplementary, Quincy Racial
» Damage: N/A
» Range: Self only
» Speed: 1 post
» Duration: 6 posts (it takes 1 post maximum to complete the actual reload and to fire the dart as well)
» Description:
This allows the user to focus their reishi manipulation ability into the 6 shot cylinder of the “Pfeilgewehr” and instead of having to manually reload, 6 fresh darts are automatically spawned at a near instantaneous rate in the cylinder’s chambers by simply recycling the reishi composing the spent casings and employing just a bit more beyond that from the user for the duration of this ability. This allows the user to keep up nearly continuous fire while this technique is in effect, thus improving their odds of keeping the enemy/target at bay for that duration since the usual 1 post cooldown won’t apply for the basic shot technique while this one is also active (as long as the user is not struck successfully while it is active).
» Downside:
The user cannot use any more than one other of whatever techniques are available to them while this technique is active since their focus is almost entirely taken up by their efforts to replenish their ammo and maintain the continuous firing rate. Furthermore, if they should be successfully hit more than 3 times while this technique is active, it will end immediately and go on 1 post cooldown afterwards (as opposed to going on cooldown after the maximum duration of this technique is over).
--------
» Name: Extra Range
» Level: 4
» Type: Supplementary, Quincy Racial
» Damage: N/A
» Range: Self only (aka the area of effect for this technique only applies to the user and no other entity), increases the maximum range of the darts fired by 2x, 3x, or 4x their baseline depending on the user’s tier
» Speed: 1 post
» Duration: 6 posts
» Description:
This allows the user to focus their reishi manipulation ability to control the darts so that their maximum effective range is doubled (when the user is Tier 4 and 3), tripled (when the user is Tier 2 or 1), or even quadrupled (when the user is Tier 0). This allows the user to maintain optimal accuracy and precision far beyond the usual range when firing the darts and thus, he can hit targets much farther away with that same accuracy and precision as if they were well within the maximum effective range of the “Pfeilgewehr’s” darts.
» Downside:
The user cannot use any more than one other of whatever techniques are available to them while this technique is active since their focus is almost entirely taken up by their efforts to increase the maximum effective range of the darts fired from this weapon. Furthermore, if they should be successfully hit more than 3 times while this technique is active, it will end immediately and go on 1 post cooldown afterwards (as opposed to going on cooldown after the maximum duration of this technique is over).
--------
» Name: Swift Shot
» Level: 4
» Type: Supplementary, Quincy Racial
» Damage: doesn’t do any damage of its own, but rather boosts the base damage capacity of the darts to one level above the baseline
» Range: Self only (the maximum effective range of the darts fired is still at their baseline level)
» Speed: equal to anywhere from 2x to 4x the baseline velocity of the dart rounds as long as this technique is active.
» Duration: 6 posts (the actual shot itself takes 1 post to execute as usual
» Description:
This allows the user to focus their reishi manipulation ability to control the darts so that their maximum velocity is doubled (when the user is Tier 4 and 3), tripled (when the user is Tier 2 or 1), or even quadrupled (when the user is Tier 0). Since objects travelling at higher velocities tend to have also have greater kinetic energy, this technique also allows the user to boost the damage done by the darts upon successful impact by a small degree. This is primarily meant to be able to deal with high velocity targets/enemies which he may not be able to overtake with his Hirenkyaku.
» Downside:
The user cannot use any more than one other of whatever techniques are available to them while this technique is active since their focus is almost entirely taken up by their efforts to increase the maximum effective range of the darts fired from this weapon. Due to the recoil damage afflicted to the user as a side effect of this technique’s ability to greatly increase the dart velocity, the user’s durability goes down by one level below his baseline while this technique is active. Furthermore, if they should be successfully hit more than 3 times while this technique is active, it will end immediately and go on 1 post cooldown afterwards (as opposed to going on cooldown after the maximum duration of this technique is over).
(More will be added later as the user grows in experience and skill with his spirit weapon)

IX. Roleplay Sample
» Roleplay Sample:
The rosy hues of dawn had begun to supplant the pitch black of the previous night slowly but surely, heralding the start of a new day. As dawn then gave way to morning, the golden yellow sunbeams had started to filter through the tiny sliver of exposed window of Zhāng’s/Stein’s bedroom that day, urging him to stir from his slumber. His body protested greatly, of course, since he was by no means an early bird, but alas, his duty towards his patients and clients called and he could not ignore its summons, well…not if he wanted to go around calling himself a physician worth his salt anyway. So, he had arisen from his bed and had headed off to do his daily morning ablutions (i.e. bath, brushing his teeth, making his hand ground Colombian coffee and so on), but not without grumbling just a tiny bit. As he was busying himself with completing those tasks slowly, he got a call from the hospital where he worked
“Dr. Zhāng, the patient you had seen last week is here for his follow-up…just giving you a friendly reminder since you had asked it of us. Hope to see you soon.”
Since his brain was still sleep-addled from having crashed into a deep sleep after what had been several previous sleepless nights, the information just barely managed to register in his memory. However, he was safe because he had examined that patient thoroughly enough the last time, and for today’s treatment he had already considered the possibilities beforehand. He mulled over these as he went ahead and finished task after task on his daily morning list and by the time he had finished his bath, gotten ready, eaten his breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen and the rest of his bachelor pad, he had a fairly solid strategy in mind on how to proceed with that one patient’s next course of treatment which he double checked as he headed over to the garage to bring out his custom order motorbike. Thanks to the recent tune-up he had gotten on this bike, he needed very little time in reaching his destination, namely, the clinic where he worked in Boston, Massachusetts. Once there, he parked his bike and headed in quickly while murmuring the word “Hirenkyaku” in a barely audible voice so he wouldn’t make too much of a scene. As the technique activated, his movement speed increased markedly and he was able to reach the nurse’s station in record time, and of course he deactivated the skill just before making contact with the nurses posted there who had been helping him with the patient in question
“So…about this patient, doctor, what should we do next? An echo maybe?”
He had been asked thus by the nurses and so he gave his answer promptly enough since he had the next step in mind and even had the differential diagnoses ready
“Yeah, the murmur I heard last time sounded troublesome…so it would be best to get an echo done and see what sort of underlying valve problem he has and nip it in the bud. I will get on that shortly.”
With that, he excused himself and went ahead to see the patient. After all the usual pleasantries were over, he had gotten down to business by taking further history and examining him some more to make sure his decision was correct. His instinct was proven right after all, so he went ahead and ordered an echocardiogram done for the patient after which he finished the follow-up by explaining to him the risks involved and the benefits of getting the echo done. He then documented the patient’s informed consent and sent him on his way. Then, he had the next patient sent in which he finished fairly quickly thanks to it being a fairly straightforward skin disease and referred them to his dermatologist colleague for further treatment, and then he went on to the next and so on till it was nearly noon. He still had a fair few patients remaining, so after returning from his lunch break, he figured it would be a good idea to galvanize himself for the long haul
“Here we go…Blut Arterie”
After having checked that no one was watching too closely, he had activated his Blut Arterie so that he would have the strength left to deal with the several patients who were still in line. Thanks to this, by the time the day had ended, he was able to get through all the patients and not feel completely exhausted by the time he was let off to return home. Little did he know though, that his day would soon take a turn for the worse. As he was nearing his neighborhood, he noticed his tank running out, so head on over to the nearby gas station to refuel, grumbling as he saw the prices had increased again
“What a drag…gas is so expensive these days…”
As he was waiting, he noticed a couple of Hollows trying to sneak up on him, presumably to try to catch him off guard and attack him. Unfortunately for them, he had been trained since childhood in combat due to being a Quincy and he had fairly decent senses, so he was able to detect them before they came too close. He sighed as he saw his day becoming really annoying
“Could you morons come back some other time?…I am really not in the mood to deal with you right now…”
Of course, the Hollows being what they were simply laughed at him, abandoned their sneak attack, and instead charged headlong at him, trying to overwhelm him with sheer speed and the shock of being attacked so suddenly. He grumbled again, but his Quincy duties were just as important as was his work as a physician. So, he manifested his spirit weapon while coming up with a plan to deal with the two pronged assault
“Come forth…Pfeilgewehr and grant me your power, so that I may overcome my foes…”
He recited his usual short prayer to his weapon and then took aim at the face-mask of the Hollow that was coming at him with a frontal attack, saying
“Not your lucky day, my friend…Soulforce Shot!!
No sooner than he had uttered those words, the weapon roared, firing one of its 12.7 mm darts at the Hollow that was foolish enough to charge so blindly at him, the vicious recoil from the high power shot causing him just a slight amount of pain due to the shock to his wrist and forearm. Thankfully, due to the nature of the reishi composing the dart and just the sheer size and speed of the projectile, it managed to bore a hole right through the Hollow’s mask and the rest of its head and exited on the other side, disintegrating shortly thereafter, leading to the Hollow disappearing into nothingness with a roar of what seemed like agonizing pain. He then turned his attention to the Hollow that had stopped its assault and was now scrutinizing him, or at least that’s what it seemed like to him anyway.
“Hmm…not bad…looks like this one is actually smart unlike its buddy…maybe I can experiment for a bit after all…”
He thought to himself as he and the Hollow circled each other slowly, each looking for any chink in the other’s defenses. Luckily for him, the street he happened to be on had no traffic passing through, so he didn’t have to worry about innocent, overly curious bystanders getting caught up in his fight. After what seemed to be a few minutes of circling and posturing, the Hollow still didn’t attack, so he figured it would be best to try to taunt it into doing such
“Hey ugly!! What’re you waiting for? Come and get me, you pathetic piece of garbage!! If you’re feeling inadequate, however, you can call your buddies for help, you know!!”
The Hollow seemed to become visibly angry upon hearing this remark, as could be seen from the way it was fuming now and also from the vein that seemed to be bulging on the side of its mask. It didn’t waste any time in lunging at him with a bestial roar that rattled his eardrums due to the sheer volume. He wanted to try out his new Blut and the new bioalchemy technique he had been trying to perfect, so he let the Hollow close in till it was within CQC range and then activated them
“Here we go…Blut Vene…and Integument Mastery!”
As was expected, his Blut Vene caused venous network like patterns to glow an ominous blue upon his skin as it bolstered his defenses somewhat, hopefully enough to resist the Hollow’s attack which was imminent. His second move caused his skin to become thicker, more durable, and even gave it a burnished bronze glow. Luckily both kicked in just as the Hollow’s tentacle came towards him, grazing his side in the process since he managed to dodge the worst of it. He then moved in for his counterstrike,
“Now…Claw & Talon CQC Arts!”
He chanted, causing his finger and toenails to morph into a set of large, thick, razor sharp claws on his fingers and talons on his feet, which of course had sandals now that his work shift was over. He struck the Hollow a few times on the tentacle, severing it in the end and then moved in close, striking at what seemed to be the Hollow’s legs, causing profusely bleeding wounds to open up on each one. Then he jumped up, striking the Hollow in the mask with an rising spear hand strike, enhanced in striking force due to the claws now on his hand and the spin he put into it. The Hollow’s mask was tough, so he only managed to make a shallow puncture wound, so he backed off for a bit. The Hollow groaned from the pain of the injuries it had received, but attacked him again, this time, trying to bite through him with its giant teeth. However, this was what sealed its fate as he had jumped up into the air already and with a flip, he came down on its face mask with an axe kick. Since his heel had a large, incredibly thick and dagger like talon on it thanks to his technique, it broke the Hollow’s mask with a single strike thanks to him putting his body weight into the maneuver, causing its body to break down shortly thereafter. He landed on the ground at the end, shaking his head in exasperation as he murmured
“No wonder they keep getting eliminated…they don’t think before they act…huh, these must have been below average then…whatever, time to head on home…I am so tired…”
Unbidden, just then, a yawn escaped his lips, further emphasizing his need to rest after such an eventful day. So, he finished refuelling and then headed home as planned, looking forward to a nice, long nap before he did anything else.

- Fixes: Alchemical, Medical, & Surgical Knowledge & Skills:My only issue is you mention flesh golems, I would request that you make these an NPC template if you intend on using them so that others have knowledge upon their stats and strengths.MEDICAL/SURGICAL ARTS:
Detection Palm: I'm fine with the technique, but you must get player consent to use this.GINTO TECHNIQUES SECTION
Five-Pronged Restraint Issues:The technique needs to specify a parameter for the defense that is scales based on some outside parameter. Even if you have a higher spirit energy manipulation level that doesn't mean your technique would be impervious to damage. PH has no absolutes, so please rework the damage aspect of this ability so that it is fair for others.
Emerald Chalice Issues:Much like the issue with five-pronged restraints, you don't actually specify it's capacity for defense, you just state it can take damage up to two levels higher than the user's reishi manipulation level. The issue here is, there is a myriad of skill-masteries that could otherwise mitigate this, as the technique is right now, the damage aspect is far too vague to be approved. Again, please rework it so that the skill's defensive capabilities conform to outside factors. Your reishi manipulation skill-level can affect these outside factors, but should not be the end all be all that you have made it seem like with this technique.
Holy bite Issues: See the previous issue with the "damage" category you've allocated to the ability. Other than this you have no real downside to the technique nor do you have a cooldown. Yes, the Ginto that is used will be expended and you cannot use it again, however, this also means there is no energy drain at that moment, nor any real detriment other than the setup time, which isn't actually specified in the technique itself. I'd recommend giving a set number of turns required to set this up if that is the route you wish to go.
Overarching issues with the Ginto techniques including Holy bite, Emerald Chalice, Sprenger and gritz: these techniques all are too vague in relation to the damage they do. You cannot just state that damage is impingent upon their reishi manipulation stat due to the fact that every ability is naturally going to do different things, and thus the damage will have different levels of distance traveled, or over-all concentration. I would request that this section of the Ginto techniques is revised to actually include descriptors of damage, defense, and as well be revised for the capacity to be countered.Spirit weapon section:
Effectors: You state that it can cause a myriad of status ailments, I want them listed. You also need to give me a way for these to be resisted. Nothing is absolute.
Breakers, Tracers & Bleeders: Too vague for what you want these abilities to do, give me a better explanation to how this happens, and what the opponent can do to mitigate its effects.
Soulforce Shot: The damage category you list is too vague for approvable purposes, again much like with your Ginto I require you to rework with portion of the ability to give me a definable scope of damage, which can scale based on his reishi manipulation mastery, but must also take into consideration factors that may reduce its effectiveness such as durability, or tier, etc.
Infinite Ammo: Based on the premise alone, I'm gonna have to say no to this one. You can have a burst of shots so long as there is an upper limit of ammo present, however, I am not okay with an infinite number of bullets/ammunition. Please scale this ability back, as well as give a feasible energy drain from using what would be a taxing technique.
Swift Shot: I cannot accurately gauge this ability until I see the revised version of Soul shot. Until then, based on the premise I will have to ask that you base damage on a sliding scale and better define the increases rather than 2x or 3x it's previous damage. This will give others a better idea of the scope of the buff, as well as functionally how it works.
Overall Impression: Honestly, I really like your application. It's clear that you've put a lot of time and effort into the app and quite frankly it shows. Your biggest issue is vagueness when it comes to defining damage parameters throughout your techniques. There were a few issues I had with other techniques, which are listed above. If you have any questions or want to shoot me a DM with potential fixes to these techniques and abilities please do so. I would be more than happy to help you.
