I Was Born Ready, Sumire! [OPEN]
Fri Aug 24, 2018 11:45 pm
Mitsuyo had just been accepted as a seated officer within the 3rd Division of the Gotei, and naturally he was excited about it. To him this was a step that he thought surely would make his mark as to whom he is and gain respect from his name. After training with his spirit, Sumire, he finally thought that this was the step forward that he needed to make Sumire reveal her true name to him. He had been waiting for this moment for so long, that a large grin had never left his face since the day of his graduation. He figured it was time to tell her the news after becoming situated in the barracks themselves, as well as all the ceremonial endeavors that took place after graduation. He rested his blade upon his lap to begin his meditation to talk with Sumire, he had become fairly close to her over the few years. So much so that his connection could be had with her by simply thinking of her presence, however he would not be transported to the inner world. Thus, the world's noise would filter out his conversation with Sumire and make it less clear, in comparison to when he is within her inner world.
"Hey Su-Su! I just got promoted to be a Captain of the Gotei! Now... can you tell me your name so I can... ya know, not be a laughing stock of the Gotei?"
Mitsuyo asked with a corny smile on his face, he knew he was lying through his teeth, but he wanted Sumire to feel as though he has earned the respect of being able to wield her after being in her presence for so long. He had known of Sumire for all of his academy life, and seeing his friends and lovers pass by him in terms of their strength, while he still was arguing with his spirit and being neglected by her, drove him into a fit of envious rage.
Sumire looked down to Mitsuyo and softly spoke to him, with a stern yet warming voice, not to sound confrontional in the slightest.
"Mitsuyo, I would be impressed with such a claim. However, I would like to believe that would simply not be the case. I would assume that would be hard to believe that a recent graduate would be accepted as a Captain without hesitation with less than a week of preparation..."
she continued to speak, and as she explained her reasoning Mitsuyo's grin began to fade into a look of bitter rage as he continued to let her talk.
"...Furthermore. If that level of strength were to be seen within the academy, I would assume they would let you graduate early... and you would have definetely not have failed two of your examinations...I ---"
"Okay Okay, I'm not a captain alright... geesh. You could lighten up sometimes."
He spoke as a he folded his arms over his chest and glared into Sumire's eyes.
"...no pun intended...But... -sigh- Look what do I have to do to get you to like me? How long have I asked you for a simple request. Your name, a phrase, a sign that I am on the right track for all of this... and you give me Nothing... For years.
"And I have told you as well. There is an additional part to myself as your spirit, that I do not think you are ready to see yet... and I do not think she would like to see you either."
Sumire spoke softly as her body began to fade within their inner world, dispersing into a subtle lavender shaded light, before forcing Mitsuyo out of her world. He exclaimed "Wait!" within his world, but before he could get the chance to say the word, he was already kicked out, causing him to cry out "Wait!", audibly though his barracks. When he heard that he spoke it out loud, he covered his mouth temporarily, then allowed his anger from his annoyance for another talk that seemed to go no where with her. The annoyance made him tremble softly, and then pound his fist into the floor underneath him as he softly muttered
"...Damnit... who is... "she?""he pondered.
He looked to the right, noticing his stress was becoming heightened and reached out for a small bamboo flute of his. He gripped it tightly and began to walk out of his barracks and walk aimlessly down one of the many stone alleys as a space between the barracks themselves, and played his flute. Thinking on "her."
"...so... this extra step is... a woman of some type...? A fiance? A date? A new wife? Is my spirit trying make me... date people? What the hell is "she"...?" He thought as he took each step, playing a soft tune to ease his racing mind.

THE UNHOLY STORM
Wandering around the Seireitei had become somewhat of a habit for him. After all, collecting information and practicing his skills as a routine was something that had become second nature to him. Sitting on the roof of the Stealth Force's barracks as he sipped from a small canteen of sencha, green tea, as he stared into the horizon, watching the sun slowly rise. A melancholic look passed over the half-breed's face as he watched what would normally be a beautiful and memorable occasion.
"Another sleepless night..."
'Henrex, you know that your health is deteriorating more and more with each night you don't sleep. You really need to get some rest -- the work can wait.'
"It's hard enough to sleep already, Raiu. You know why."
The conversation soon fell silent as the two quietly agreed on the matter. They both knew exactly what the cause was. The two sighed practically simultaneously as they ended the conversation. War was on the horizon, much to Henrex's dismay. As someone who had been through various conflicts in his very long life, it wasn't much of a surprise that he had become tired and resentful of it. Was it too much to ask for a longer time of peace?
Slowly rising to his feet as he stretched and tucked his canteen away, Henrex looked down at the ground, stepping forward and sliding off the roof, silently landing on his feet.
As he went to turn towards his own quarters, the sound of music filled his ears. Readjusting the sash around his head, and the white, fluffy haori around his shoulders, he turned to the sounds and listened in. Someone who played the same instrument as what he heard, it wasn't hard for him to identify the soulful whistle of a flute.
A soft smile broke out on his face as he began to walk towards the origin of the sounds, humming quietly as he walked along. Each step he made was deafened as he stepped along the barracks, the young man's humming eventually coming to a close as the music grew more and more near -- until he was right behind the player.
"You're very good."

As he continued to play and walk, his notes began to become more aggressive, yet passionate, as if the stress of his own overthinking began to play for him. His brows began to furrow as he played, showing his disdain for his current situation but also providing insight to the intensity of his tune. He even began shaking his head as he allowed the notes to ascend from the flute effortlessly, although his thoughts did not seem to flow the same way. During his play, he noticed for a brief second that one of his notes came out a lot more aggressive than he intended. He paused for a moment as he pondered the present moment. The immediate thought that popped in his mind was that he was being followed, so to allow the person that was pursuing him to continue, he made it so that the pause seemed like an intentional rest in his tune as he continued to walk at his hastened pace.
While he played he looked for other possible reasons that this spike of pressure occurred. The winds were still, so he could factor that it was not that. He looked briefly down to his hands to see if he fingered the wrong key and everything looked as though it was in the right position. He looped the previous melody again, to make sure his fingers were in the right spot for the note, and the note was played normally. While doing this, he also remembered hearing some type of tapping during his playing, but upon the rest occurring, the tapping pause as well.
He had a hunch that someone or something was following him, but he continued to act as though he paid no mind to it. He was a fresh recruit into the Seireitei, and only a seated officer at that. If anyone was really trying to hunt him down, others would have probably dealt with it if they were to break through. And even at that point, there was no one in particular that he could think of that would even want him put down in the first place. Therefore he silenced his panicked state by continuing to play, chalking up the sound and the eerie note spike to be a captain that walked by him, and maybe did that burst of pressure as a warning.
"I guess I should keep it down a little bit... it's only the crack of dawn. granted most of'em are probably up by now, but for the select few who aren't... oops."
He thought to himself as he began to relax his face from his aggressive play. His shoulders dropped and his brows unforrowed themselves as continued walking, this time much slower and enjoying the rhythm as he watched the sunrise peak over the top of the barrack's walls. As soon as he began to relax himself, he heard a voice speak to him, in a hushed, confident; yet monotone, dialect to him.
Instantly when hearing
"You..."
He took his step forward, and pivoted on the balls of his feet swiftly in place, turning in a complete 180 to see who was talking to him. Although, he had a hunch of confrontation to the interaction, he still kept his flute up to his mouth and finished playing the last few notes of his tune.
"--'re very good."
He heard once he finished his pivot and held the note for a little longer as he looked closely at whom was behind him. The scarf around his neck finally whipped around in unison with his tune coming to a halt, and his focused expression relaxed into a soft grin. This was the face of one of the many captains in the barracks, Stealth Force captain, Henrex Astillion. Mitsuyo knew this face specifically since they are usually wonder around at the same times, however this was the first they have spoken to one another. They also happened to be neighboring one another, although Mitsuyo rarely hears much from their barracks; with them being the stealth division it makes sense. Mitsuyo took note of Henrex's exhausted looking expression, but ignored it for now and accepted the compliment to his play.
"Thanks a lot. Sorry if I woke you, I usually play when... she... gets annoying to deal with."
He placed emphasis on "she" referring to his zanpakuto spirit, Sumire. Even giving in a bit more to his annoyance, by squinting his eyes and glaring down to his sword in a cutting gaze, before returning back to meet Henrex's eyes.
"It kinda didn't dawn on me until now that it's extremely early... oops."
He grinned in nervousness, as he tucked his flute into his belt behind his blade, and then placed his left hand behind his neck, massaging it lightly, as he put his other hand forward offering a handshake.
"Oh, I don't think we've met formally yet. So uhh... I'm Mitsuyo"
"And lets hope this'll keep him on his good side."
He thought to himself as he continued his grin.

THE UNHOLY STORM
As his eyes opened due to the music stopped, the male softly shook his head and waved before his arm returned to his side.
"I was up all night. Not the wisest idea, but..."
The young man trailed off as his gaze shifted to the ground, giving a sullen look as he briefly closed his eyes and took a breath, before sighing, his smile soon returning. The mention and emphasis of a "she" caused his head to tilt to the side as he gave a questioning look, before soon realizing and nodding in understanding, his smile returning.
"I see. Sometimes, Zanpakuto Spirits can be unbearable. But...after enough time, there's no one better to rely on. I know that, even in my darkest times, he's there for me."
He heard the gentle echo of laughter of his Zanpakuto Spirit in his mind and quietly slid a hand out from his haori and cloak and shaking Mitsuyo's hand before concealing them again.
"Henrex, Captain of the Stealth Force. But, uh...I'm guessing you already knew that."
As he chuckled lightly, Henrex moved a hand up and softly rubbing the back of his neck bashfully.
"So, what has you up so early, Mitsuyo?"

Upon the captain shaking his hand in return, his demeanor became relaxed further than the casual persona he already had at the moment. He had no idea to why he felt so tense prior to that contact, but upon hearing the compliment to his tunes, in addition to the handshake, he almost felt silly about how careful he was trying to be. His grin held a lot more confidence behind it as he began to speak, allowing himself to get to know his neighboring captain a lot better.
"Hm, why's that? I'd think being a captain would make you want to get all the rest you can get... or at least that's how I'd use that position."
He chuckled, as he disconnected the handshake and rested his hand on his neck, massaging the back of it lightly, while resting his other free hand on his hips as he listened to Henrex's rebuttal towards the bound between spirits and wielder. As much as he agreed with that dynamic, today Sumire was acting very off character towards him today, and didn't want to get too far into trying to bother her at the moment.
"Her and I are really great friends, she keeps me pretty good company since well... I don't know really anyone just yet. But today she's kinda... left me in the dark... no pun intended... wait... why Am i saying that--- She's a light based zan, if that sheds some light on--... damnit... "
He spoke, trying to control his rambling, but he truly felt flustered even though this conversation should have felt fairly easy to him, and upon the third question, he answered it fast to try to cover up for his accidental pun spree.
"I--- Usually go to talk to Suzy at this hour. I go over to the gardens and meditate under one of the willow trees, then well... after that I don't know... I've been kinda just wondering around trying to find stuff to do, that or play this thing until someone stops me for casual conversation."
