Human Nature [Henrex]
Tue Jun 05, 2018 12:06 am
The Mechanical Guardian
Humans were always so preoccupied with what was out there. At first it was a fascination with the things yet uncovered within their own planet. Then it was their own quest to find intelligent life somewhere else in their galaxy. In the end, it turned out that life was both very close yet very far from their own understanding. A vast group of spiritual races had existed for a millennia, known only to a few. Yet, despite all their knowledge and all their understanding, people were still surprised when the recently discovered spiritual races turned out to be just as they had expected. It was textbook; a powerful race overtook the weaker one. The weaker ones either served, or became assimilated into the ruling one until they were no more. It wasn’t human nature, it was simply the natural order of things.
“There is beauty in every place, and every face. There’s value in every word, and every breath.”
She spoke to no one other than herself. It was an odd but interesting thought that had puzzled her for some time. So many people rushed into the arms of danger and potential death and for what cause? For power, for longevity, for immortality. Most failed to understand and recognize the true value of the human experience. Words were forgotten. Memories were left to rot when the life was no more. Sure, a few could remember a name based on the strength they commanded. A legacy was that special kind of memory that allowed others to remember someone that was no more, regardless of how many centuries had gone by. More often than not however, a legacy required death. In the end, the beauty of the true human experience was in its uniqueness, in its fragile nature, and in the fact that it was finite. When your life was as a porcelain vase or a glass jar, one needed care to avoid breaking it into pieces. And it was that care and devotion to the self that created lasting memories the likes of which the powerful and envious could only dream to create.
In some ways, the weakest people have the strongest impacts on their surroundings. The worth of a life isn’t truly measured until that life snuffed out by time or cut down by a blade. In the end, unlike a legacy, most achievements and memories will fade away and be lost to time, like tears in rain.”
Taking a deep breath, the girl finally smiled as if to focus her mind on something else. She had sent out a highly encrypted message days before. For the most part it was a pile of nothing. But, if one were clever enough to sort through all the binary codes and the embedded trickery they would have found a greeting, and an invitation to meet at the coordinates instructed. The encryption wasn’t impossible to decipher; she hadn’t made it that difficult. Still, it was difficult enough to require a very specific set of skills, the likes of which did not abound. Only a handful of people could ever decipher such a thing. And even among those that could, only a couple would be able to do so quick enough to be on time for the meeting. Angel knew it was a shot in the dark. Someone could show up, but it was likely no one did. It was all an experiment, and she was excited at the thought of success or disappointment.

Humanity was what Henrex believed to be the world's most powerful race. The ingenuity that they had, and the creativity that they possessed was something that had caused them to build the very world that he lived in, with them constantly evolving and advancing with technology, alieviating many of the problems that they had in the past.
But, with that advancement often came a lot of interesting occurrences -- like the encryption that had been sent to the Seireitei, something that Henrex had caught wind of. While the Research Center were busy decrypting it on their own, Henrex took a copy of it, repeating the same processes as they had, albeit running a few of his own at the same time. It took a bit, but he eventually started getting somewhere.
Pieces were being unveiled, and the puzzle was soon solved. Surprisingly, it wasn't anything malicious. Rather, it was an invitation, with a set of numbers to follow. It wasn't hard to learn that they were coordinates in the middle of the Living World. So, opening a portal to the Living World, he stepped through and slipped through the Dangai, arriving at the other side rather quickly as he looked around. While he had nothing to say, his Zanpakuto Spirit, Raiu, did.
'Interesting choice for a casual meeting.'
But, Henrex was more focused on what was around them. A small forest, directly next to a mountain. It was rather isolated for where a casual meeting was meant to be. But, he wasn't one to judge. Ergo, Henrex did a bit more searching around them, eventually finding what he assumed to be the sender of the encrypted message: a white-haired woman, dressed in black.
So, naturally, he approached her.
"Are you the one who sent the message out?"
Stepping a bit closer, Henrex found himself looking her over -- likely her face, if she had turned around -- examining her. First thoughts were pretty blank, so far. Then again, there wasn't much to really base these thoughts around after only a few seconds after finding her.
"If so, that's...a pretty unique way of sending an invitation."

There she was, like a leaf in the wind, suspend midair by forces of nature, of spirit, and light. She took a moment to over the air in the most delicate and graceful of motions before her body hovered lower until she was standing on the tip of one of her feet. Like a dancer she leaned in, oblivious to the world around her other than the welcome solitude of nothingness. At that moment she felt the energy swell up around her, causing her to adapt a more stable standing position where her skirt no longer rose much higher than her upper thighs.
”I’m surprised but glad someone came, welcome. My name is Angel.”
In an instant she’d rush up and closer to him, not running, by simply taking a long step forth; like a leap. There was no ill intent or offensive maneuver planned, though it was understandable if he reacted negatively. The woman displayed no visible weapons, and despite the blindfold that should’ve obscured her vision, she was very much aware where he was. Sounds and energy were her main tools for direction as their elements resonated with almost everything in her vicinity to paint a form of mental image. She was able to gauge his height in comparison to her, the length of his limbs, his hair, and even the corners of his clothes and weapons should there be any present.
”My research and calculations indicated not many would be able to crack the code, safe for those with an inclination like mine. The fact you’re here means that at very least we have something in common, Henrex Astillon. You don’t know me, but I know a bit about you. Don’t worry though; it’s mostly just unimportant details.”
Most people were unaware of how easily knowledge was passed down nowadays. There were cameras. There was the internet. And more importantly, there were noisy people. No information was ever secret if someone other than the individual knew it. Granted that didn’t mean Angel knew everything there was to know about him, not even close. However she certainly knew a lot of the most commonly known knowledge about him. She also knew some more unimportant things most people didn’t, like kinks and fetishes he may have had, and certain items or things he held a sort of phobia for. Of course, like with all information, some of it was bound to be false or misconstrued, so she took it all with a grain of salt. Still, she tried her best to make it all seem as natural as possible, though her choice of words still needed a lot of work.
”I have a personalized data file with the leadership of the Vanguard and the Gotei. But don’t worry; I keep tabs on most people.”

Almost instantly reacting to his presence, Henrex took a step back -- caught a bit off guard at such an immediate reaction. Thus, as she stared at him and -- assumedly -- scanned him over, despite the blindfold that rest over her eyes. Yet, her name was what tipped him off. While he had never met with neither her, or anyone associated with the Division itself, the semi-recent "Earth Affiliation" Division had been noted to have a Vanguard associate within it's ranks.
As one of his jobs was to keep information regarding things in the Seireitei and beyond, it wasn't a surprise that Henrex would possess at least a small bit of knowledge as to who she was. In this instance, it was a name; Angel. Though, the vagueness of exactly what information that she possessed was a bit...worrying. There were some things that a ninja must keep secret, and if they were common knowledge at any point, to even a single person, it could jeopardize a good many things.
So, the male stepped forward, returning to the position he was in before, before sitting down on a cloud, propping his head upon his hands, briefly noting the common interest that they seemed to have.
"It would seem that we do."
But -- now that it was his turn to look her over -- he noticed something else that they might have in common, something that made his own hand travel to the handle of his sword, a soft smile spreading over his face.
"You're a swordswoman, too?"
With this question asked, Henrex quietly drew his sword, letting the tip of the blade rest in the ground as he soon shifted himself to rest his head on his hands, which held the sword upright. After she answered this -- something he was sure that she would answer -- Henrex's next focus would turn to the mention of the Gotei and the Vanguard. After all, the knowledge of her name would be something that warranted a bit more than just that.
"If I remember correctly...you're also an honorary member of the Gotei's Earth Affiliation Division, right?"
