Atsumu Mononoke [WIP]

» Kitsunemusume: The most noticeable trait Atsumu has, as it’s pretty hard to not notice, are her ears and tails that are that of a fox. Her ears match her hair color, being a dark brown color and are placed at the top of her head, along with her tails that are a reddish brown that fades into a white at the tips. Currently, Atsumu has 9 tails, though when she was young there was only 1. Each tail represents every 100 years she has lived, making her age rather obvious. Along with that, her canine teeth are longer and sharper, resembling fangs.

» Posture: When idle, Atsumu’s posture is somewhat odd. She stands sort of straight up, with the middle of her back stuck out slightly. Her hands would normally find themselves at her sides, either her hips or the side of her torso, but to Atsumu, they feel comfortable around her body then freely hanging. Her backside sticks out slightly, just like her back, and her chest is pushed forward.

» Claws: Like a fox, Atsumu has claws, though they aren’t actual claws. Her fingernails naturally grow in a sort of triangular shape instead of rounding off at the tip, making them sharper than normal nails. Also, due to her bone structure, the nails are more durable than normal humans.

» Light-hearted: Overall, Atsusmu is not a very serious person when it comes to her social interaction and a little bit of her everyday life. When it comes to talking to people, rarely can one hear any emotion in her voice or see anything besides a smile on her face. Not only is she extremely optimistic about anything, even life in general, Atsumu just doesn't see a reason to be depressed or sad. She also has a tendency to crack a joke in the darkest of times, but it's how she braces anything negative, though the reason behind this is that she enjoys making people laugh.

Atsumu also tends to fall short in professional environments due to this trait. Whenever assigned a job of some sort, she will almost always blow it off for something she enjoys. It's not that she doesn't want to do the work, well it is because she hates doing anything that's assigned to her. She doesn't know what responsibility is and probably never will.

» Formal: Noted mostly in her speech, Atsumu tries to act like a noble. It is somewhat in her blood.

When talking, Atsumu tends to stick to a more cleaner and professional way of speaking. She’s soft-spoken, which she tends to blame on how she was raised, told that ladies were supposed to be submissive and obedient. Her choice of words are very tame and calming, her voices never being raised under any circumstance. She tends to not speak out of turn and thus doesn’t speak unless spoken to, making her quite a quiet person.

» Adrenaline Junky: She tries to keep it tame, but she absolutely adores fighting. The clashing of blades, the slicing of skin, the warmth of blood dripping onto the battlefield. All of it. There’s nothing about combat that she dislikes. Normally, she will detest any sort of unnecessary violence, often looking down on those who have short fuses or are just itching for a fight for the hell of it, not knowing why they fight. But when someone mentions an upcoming war or battle, Atsumu can’t help herself. It tends to arouse her in many ways, the most noticeable of ways is that she blushes, but other things happen behind the scenes.

» Motherly: Now the Kitsune is old, approaching the end of her life soon but she hasn't had any children to pass on her knowledge onto. This pains her, so to cope with that pain she tends to treat those that are over 50 years younger than her as if they were her child. What this means is that she becomes somewhat protective of this person, but her temper with them stay very low. She tries to give them all the same amount of attention and grow strong between all of them so she seems like she's always there for them. She tries to also guide them in the right direction in life, often becoming a teacher to them or a great friend, depending on the situation.

» Meat Lover: There are those out there that have an eye for sweets and then there are others that don't. Atsumu would be placed in the latter, as she has her sights set on one thing: meat.

Now, don't confuse her with a carnivore as she will eat anything and everything under the sun if she's that hungry, but it's just that she prefers meat over everything else. This is can be connected to her more primal half, her kitsune half. When it comes to what kind of meat, Atsumu isn't very picky.

» Wise: Not really a personality trait but a trait that defines Atsumu nonetheless. The Kitsune is starting to get older and older as the days go on, and with every day she makes it an objective learn something new. She knows that she isn’t the smartest of people when it comes to intelligence but she does know many things and has seen many people. If one wanted to seek council they would most likely search out for Atsumu as she has a decent track record of helping those in need and never turns one down.

The Kitsune is also not afraid to share what she has learned with others, good or bad. In her times she has come to accept that those with a heart of evil and malice just haven’t understood the world yet, often lashing out against others in ways that they know best, even if it may not be the right way. This makes Atsumu a very open person, regardless of faction.

» Obsessive: Clingy, so to speak, to those that she determines are close to her. What defines close can be from someone she hit it off with for a day or two to someone she has known her whole life. She holds relationships to a higher standard than material objects, often going out of her way to protect a human life than something of immense value. Though, with that being said, she is considerate of physical objects as well, especially if they're sentimental, but when compared to life she seems to not care for them.

» Emotional: This trait often gets in the way of her duties as a Shinigami, but she often has the power to back up her decisions.

Upon numerous occasions, the Kitsune has been known to act upon her feelings and not her mind or instincts. This is a prime example of the flaws that her human side brings, but also what keeps her from becoming just an animal in human form. When a situation arises that calls for her decision, she is most likely going to answer in a form that benefits all, the most effective and productive method, but if it threatens her way of life, the happiness of it, or the peace that it provides, she will often go for the more emotional approach. When broken down, she's just selfish.



Atsumu was the first child of many in the Mononoke family. Before her, there was two: her mother and her father, her father hailing from the Kuchiki and her mother the Mononoke. Before they had even thought of Atsumu there was a problem with their love. Her father’s family absolutely detested his relationship with her mother, as she, like Atsumu, was a kitsunemusume. Though that is not what they had told him, as they didn't want to look like blatant racists, so instead they blamed it on the history of the Mononoke. This was a low blow, even for them, but they were desperate for excuses so they could save her father for an arranged marriage sometime down the line.

The stories and rumors of the Mononoke spread far and wide, amongst various dimensions and races, though altered over the years.

Once, long ago, there was forest, the Mononoke forest, a place where the humans, demons, and all other races could not find nor touch. It was a place where animals were of myth would reside, only being able to stay myths for that reason. All animals were seen as equal there, but that was only for a time. There was a fox, a female, who was notorious for playing tricks on both animals and spirits. Most just saw it as harmless fun, but little did they know she had ulterior motives.

The fox had wandered into the Seireitei, looking for it's prey, when it happened upon a boy. This soul looked fresh, newly dead and recently admitted into the Soul Society. He was lost, looking for someone to give him the ropes as none of the Shinigamai that transported him there had told him anything, too busy with the other souls to pay attention to one. So the fox approached him, acting nice to him. Then she left and returned over the course of a week, each time bringing the child a gift. The first day was friendship, the second was knowledge, the third day was respect, the fourth day was loneliness, the fifth was pride, the sixth was lust, and the seventh was death.

Yes, in the end her main goal was to kill this boy. This young child. This young soul who had just that week was given a new chance at life. While the fox saw this as entertaining most of the other souls did not, especially the Shinigami, who were, some would say, at their peak during that time. They came for the fox with pitchforks and torches, which then in turn caused them to stumble upon her home, the Mononoke forest. To make a long story somewhat short, they killed the fox and killed most of the wildlife, leaving only the forest itself and a handful of survivors. That fox would turn out to be Atsumu's grandmother after she had her mother of course.

Knowing this legend, many are very wary of in?teracting with the Mononoke, though most often believe them to not exist in the first place, after all the tale has become a legend by this point due to it aging over the hundreds, nearly thousands, of years.

Atsumu was born out of wedlock, but was more specifically a child that didn't exist or at least as far as anyone else was concerned.

Atsumu was a cursed child, though in reality she was just extremely gifted. From the time of her birth there were signs of abnormality, with the first and most glaring event being her birth itself. It was believed by both Atsumu's mother and her fahter that Atsumu would not only be a man, but would not be born for another month. Though that fateful day came
