Kings Advent. [Gotei/Shinigami Open]
Sun Dec 10, 2017 10:39 pm
Ah, a kingdom of ash is not a kingdom at all is it? Full of cowards, cowards that forsook their lands. That gave it outsiders. That let defeat color their actions until they became ants, crawling upon the sands. Those sands, which remained unchanging, brutal and unyielding; under the resplendent aura of the moon. A throne forsaken, a castle of glass which could not stand upon its own. The silouette of a mountainous man stood backlit by that moonlight. The crown upon his head worn and chipped by countless eons. A golden eye that could pierce the darkness gleamed, staring out upon those sands, the axe that rested upon the ground; displacing the sand moving only just enough.
”Bah, this castle of glass, cowardice! It’s time. “
Words spoken to no one at all. Blasting vehemently across the landscape! Oh the fury, the . . .contempt. It saturated every word, it graced every single pause, every single crisp clear sound. They, did this. He thought, his bushy brow furrowing, aged lines chiseled into his face as he frowned. Then with a heft of his mighty axe, the ground was blasted apart in a scar, great tsunami’s of sand disrupting the desolation. It’s might cleaved open a mighty black crack in the sky, ripping open space. Tearing it to shreds.
The echo of his footsteps seemed almost, inadequate after the splendor he had just unveiled. However, as this aged man walked towards the yawning abyss he had just torn open in the fabric of reality, those steps barely disturbed the sand. He took his time until eventually he passed through the distance and stepped forth into the darkness, his body fading as he entered the long desolate tunnel between dimensions from his utilization of the garganta. His steps, so unhurried spoke of his arrogance. He acted as if he had all the time in the world, that mighty axe of his swung to rest upon his shoulder. His voice came out low and gravelly as is grated upon the lonesome environment around him.
”..Cowards, unsuited retches that crawl like ants upon the ground, lament. “
In this small town, the serenity. The monotone drum of life that would settle upon you like a fog continued to go on. People scurrying about their business, each with their own life. Their own story to tell, with all the good, and the bad. The flaws and imperfections, this normacy would come to an end as soon the sky seemed to distort. The grating sound of the fabric of dimensions cracking apart bit by bit loud enough to cover this town. It would jar the people from their fights, their jobs and dwellings. One by one they stared at the sky. The yawning darkness that had appeared with it’s jagged edges far, far above their space. The alarm was sounded, as an anomaly of unimaginable power was detected.
”Hmph.”
A snort blasted like thunder , echoing from the dark rift. The sound of footsteps amplified as spiritual pressure of which’s likes was rarely felt seeped out of the darkness and caused distortion of space. The massive influx of power easily could drive someone to their knees. Soon people began to faint, or they were flattened to the ground by the spiritual pressure. Cracks could be seen in buildings that could not take the stress that was bearing down upon them. Glass cracked and shattered, and everything soon fell to ruin within a two mile radius of where the anomaly was first detected.
The looming jagged scar in the sky loomed over everything, as soon a footstep could be seen extending from it’s gargantuan size. A figure of an old man standing upon its edge. His appearance still obscured by the darkness that permeated the garganta. The only visible thing other than his silhouette would be a golden eye that pierced through the darkness. All that could be discerned right now was this mans strength, unfathomable and otherworldly. Just who was he? Why was he here? These questions echoed in the minds of many, beyond the pure terror they felt. The man looking down upon them, like they were ants that he could smash in an instant had yet to leave the garganta. All that was left for the people of this town was to prey, prey someone could get there in time! Or perish.

Shunsui
Artist: Bleach OST - Song: Mysterious - Word Count: 633
Only a few seconds after the garganta opened Shunsui began his journey to its epicenter. The spiritual energy given off by it pulsated throughout the surrounding rukongai districts and into the Seireitei, and although he couldn't pick up any identifying reiatsu signatures it was obvious that someone powerful had stepped on to the scene. He'd grown accustomed to responding to threats to soul society by now, especially with the frequency at which they were appearing, so he wasted no time in reacting. He stood from his desk, gathered his zanpakuto and hat up, and set out immediately. As he did so he thought to himself. It seemed that just about anyone had the ability to stroll right into soul society whenever they wanted, and that was something he'd been worrying about for a long time now. Every few weeks someone else was standing in a different rukongai district, but they all came the same way, and they all wanted the same basic things. It was getting old. There was a time when none would have dared, and if he had anything to say about it that era would dawn again, and soon.
He'd already covered a considerable distance when the sounds of the alarm, high pitched and wailing, finally reached his ears.
"Hmphh. Good thing I don't rely on that anymore."
As Shunsui ran he utilized the new shunpo he'd been working on for the past few weeks. It showed a measurable improvement over his previous technique, and so with this, and the fact that he was constantly on high alert these days, he made his way to the outskirts of the scene in record time. Southern Rukongai, 38th district. That was where he came to a halt, the garganta spiraling overhead. The sky was nearly black and only faint variations could be seen. The garganta sprawled out from its center for what seemed like miles, and looking up at the sky Shunsui could see nothing of the undisturbed blue he'd been gazing at just hours before, when he'd been preparing himself to head in to his office. He still wasn't directly underneath the center of the garganta, but he could see if from where he was standing. Destruction was strewn around him, people had clearly been lost in this explosive outburst. The buildings around him were battered and beaten, almost all of them lay on their sides, unable to stand upright any longer. Their windows had all been shattered, long jagged pieces of glass littered the ground he stood on. After a moments pause he began walking, and soon made his way through the rubble and to the absolute center of the garganta. To the source of the disturbance.
Looking up Shunsui began to stare into the garganta. He was still unable to sense any kind of identifying reiatsu, most likely because whoever it was paying them a visit was wise enough to cloak themselves in the garganta long enough to spy on the response. A smart idea, but following one as foolish as invading in the first place its brilliance waned. He could make out little at first, although he squinted and stared, trying his best to discern anything from the void before him. The center of the garganta was almost pitch black, and though it lightened as it moved away from the center the effect was not very drastic, to say the least. As he gazed deeper and deeper into the nothingness that was the garganta though, he discovered that the abyss was indeed gazing back into him. A golden eye peered down at him from the center of the portal, not yet having left its protective embrace. He stared into the eye for a few moments, not displaying any reaction. Then he spoke.
"I spy with my little eye..."
