Bowing from the waist once more, Momo smiled as she took her leave from the Lieutenant’s monthly meeting. However, amidst the formalities and halfway serious conversation about what each squad was up to in terms of work, Momo had been able to sneak in a private conversation with Rangiku regarding an issue which had been bothering her for some time now.
"Rangiku-san, do I need lots of sleep to grow like you?” she had asked a little timidly. Sportingly though, Rangiku replied the affirmative, suggesting that afternoon naps were a great way to revitalise yourself from the rest of the day.
As she walked slowly back to her Squad barracks though, she couldn't help but ponder whether there was any other way for her to spend her free time, though she ticked off her fingers that she had no other engagements.
No paperwork for this week since I finished that yesterday, Hirako-taicho received that new music record, lieutenant's meeting... she ran through them.
Ah, Shunsui! At the time it had been a week since she had requested him to come and socialize with one another, but she still had yet to hear of any reply from him...hrm...
Should she...pass by the Squad Eight barracks? Just as a 'passing visit' to 'check up on him? Whilst it was extremely unlikely he was still present there, she may as well set up a picnic for the two of them.
Momo decided the best place to have a picnic is underneath a cherry blossom tree which had a beautiful view of the Soul society. Before heading off however Momo grabbed a bunch of fruits, refreshments, and food for the event.
The picnic itself contained a variety of food such as grapes, apples, and even sandwiches which were cut into little triangles with Peanut butter and jelly contained in each serving. For refreshments it was traditional sake, although Momo wasn't sure exactly how strong shunsui likes his alcohol. Each with a cup for them to pour their refreshments in of course Momo didn't like the idea of being intoxicated and brought a substitute for herself in this case water.
Perfect! a smile across her face as she sat down under the cherry blossom tree watching as each individual leaf began falling down until they blew into the wind. She waited for the mighty captain to arrive...

Shunsui plopped a box down onto his new desk as sighed. It had taken a while but finally all of his things were moved to his new room in the fourth division. His assignment had been officialized earlier in the morning, and now that all of the moving was done it was time for him to relax. Shortly after he had this though a messenger arrived and waited quietly for him by the door. He finished in one last thing, then called the man in to speak.
"Sir, I have word that Mrs. Hinamori has been looking for you. She's currently located about a quarter of a mile southeast of here. I'm sure you'll be able to locate her if you search for her reiatsu. "
Shunsui thanked and dismissed the man as he made his way to the chair he'd left his kimono laying over. He swept it over himself, covering the white captains haori that he'd just picked up this morning, reflecting his position as captain of the fourth division. He adjusted his haori and shihakusho, which had become slightly misaligned while he'd worked moving his things in. Grabbing his zanpakuto and fastening them to his side Shunsui made his way out of the door and towards Momo's location.
He'd been able to sense her reiatsu from the fourth division barrack, and it didn't take Shunsui long to locate the girl. He found her under a cherry blossom tree with a picnic all laid out in front of her. He continued walking until he reached the tree, then reached down and ruffled Momo's hair. Laid out in containers on the ground were a variety of fruits, as well as small sandwiches.
"Looks good Momo-chan. How long did it take you to make all this? Mind if I pour myself a drink?"
Shunsui sat down lotus style on the grass and filled one of the cups, wasting no time waiting on a reply. As he looked out across the landscape he thought that this was one of the best views in soul society. Realizing that he'd built up quite an appetite moving all of his things in to the fourth division barracks Shunsui grabbed one of the sandwiched and discovered it was filled with peanut butter and jelly. He finished it before grabbing another as well as an apple.
"Been busy lately? I heard that there was a meeting today, how'd that go?"
Shunsui took a drink from his cup and gave Momo a chance to respond. It was a nice day, certainly one he'd have picked for a picnic himself. The wind blew lightly over them and a few of the cherry blossoms departed, starting their journey across the landscape. He always enjoyed watching them go.

Momo waited and waited as she took a sip of water from her bottle refreshing her throat after a long days work, she began to worry that he wasn't going to come, perhaps she should wait at a later time when he's free or eat all by her lonesome...
However all that changed when Momo's head perked up as she detected a nearby reitasu signature and it was heading towards her direction. But after a few seconds she knew who it was, it was the great captain of squad 8 Shunsui in all of his glory!
Momo got a good look at the old captain as he sat down in lotus position with his body still the same and his hairstyle more or less unchanged and zanpaktou next to him still care-free as ever and having that great attitude of his...if only Jushiro was here then it'd be a crazy picnic.
No, of course help yourself Shunsui. Momo watched as Shunsui took a sandwich and devoured it with one subtle bite before grabbing an apple, just what was Shunsui doing that made him so hungry? Whatever it was But for now it was time for some catching up get to see how's he been doing for the last 400 years.
"Well it didn't take long, only took a few minutes to prepare everything and find a decent location. As for the meeting it well a few uninteresting stuff here and there but otherwise good.. In fact it went so well that i was declared general officer of the Kido division!
Momo said in pure excitement before taking a sandwich and taking a small bite tasting the delicious combination of peanut butter and jelly throughout her tastebuds.

Shunsui observed Momo as she spoke. She was still the same bubbly young shinigami that she'd been all those years ago. These days they didn't see each other as often as they had previously, as things had been busy lately. He noticed that she became more and more excited as she told him of her assignment, and he simply smiled.
"That's great Momo-chan. Congratulations."
Shunsui smiled even wider, then took another bite of his sandwich finishing it off. He enjoyed the taste before swallowing then turned to search the field behind him. He was looking for a specific type of grass, all he needed was one shoot. It was called lemongrass and resembled a tiny bamboo shoot, although they grew nowhere near as large. They also gave off the faint scent of lemon. When chewed it tasted like lemon with a slight hint of mint. It didn't grow everywhere, but luckily it was very common here in Soul Society and you could find it almost anywhere. After only a few moments of searching he found what he'd been looking for and turned back to Momo with the grass shoot stuck between his lips.
Shunsui chewed on the lemon grass and raised his hands, interlocking them behind his head before looking up at the clouds. After a few moments he noticed a cloud that looked remarkably familiar, and thought it would be funny to point it out to Momo. He laughed and pointed up at it.
"Look, that cloud is Toshiro."
The cloud indeed resembled Hitsugaya, as much as a cloud could reasonably resemble a person, although it was more of a chibi figure that anything else. The portion of the cloud that would have been his head was larger than normal, and his hair was fairly well defined for a cloud figure. His body was a bit more ethereal, but nonetheless it still resembled him somewhat. Shunsui was unable to contain his laughter, and nearly spilled his drink in his amusement.
"Doesn't it look just like him?"
Gradually his laughter died out and Shunsui sighed. It was a nice day for a picnic, and he was already feeling much more relaxed after the busy work of moving all of his things earlier in the day.
"So, are you ever planning on trying to become a captain Momo?"
Shunsui was very curious what Momo was planning to do in the future. It was true that they hadn't been able to interact much in the past four hundred years, although some times of peace made it easier, and all of the captains spent plenty of time together. He could tell that she was much stronger now than she had been then.
