The Pale Dream Empty The Pale Dream

The home as always seemed to position itself so beautifully in the Moonlight. The glow of the tranquil light flowed down into the koi pond built. A large amount of sakura tree's had been planted and prepared here. Tsubasa's frame rested against the doorway's opening as a cup of sake lingered in his hand. In his free hand his kiseru he smoked now and then was there. His body was wrapped in bandages and covered in them. His wrists and torso were covered and his right arm. It was a mess but the rebuilding and recovery had been smooth. But physically wasn't the problem in this situation. He'd tapped into a realm not many had gone as a Shinigami. He'd taken steps into Yamamoto's realm of power and saw it finally. The risk of destruction that came from running head long in. He drank from his cup slowly his crimson gaze staring out at the moon. His old father in law used to say he was too serious about things. Maybe it was about time he lightened up and started joking around. He'd been serious about fighting this war and others his entire life.

Maybe it was about time he stopped going to these battles. It was a question that lingered in the mind. He'd not technically lost to his daughter. But in some ways he did, his will wavered and he couldn't kill her. He couldn't raise a hand against her, not after all she'd been through. He tried his best to ignore it and move on from it. He doubted the Vanguard would even acknowledge his display. So in a nut shell, it was a waste of time and energy. But he guessed that was living in some ways, it worked sometimes. Others it didn't work at all and remained an elusive thing. He set down his kiseru now as he smiled a bit shrugging his shoulders. Some things in the world must change and become something else. He couldn't remain what he was and keep doing these things. He was a loyal friend of the Gotei. Yet all that risk and effort, it leads nowhere. He'd left instructions for his attendants to let him be. Ever since he got home he'd been like this now.

Sitting and just observing the moonlight and things going on. Reflecting on choices made prior to this. Tsubasa was a man who reflected on each moment in history. Each moment he took to stand somewhere and fight. A former Captain Commander, one who leads them in a dark time. He didn't see the end of the road yet. But maybe it was about time he focused on the creation aspect. Urahara Kisuke had retired from this life and went elsewhere. He took a long inhale of his kiseru, before letting the smoke escape his lips. It was a problem in the long and short run of things. What was a former Captain Commander to do these days? A realization of the Raven's Nest's goals did concern him. Who was watching over the balance these days. Perhaps it would best to build the organization in a way that it took over. Making sure balance was maintained. But sadly no matter how great his strength was. He couldn't enforce it alone, that was simply a fact of the matter. Tsubasa Unabara, no matter how great his legacy or he was to those others.

He couldn't do everything on his own, he couldn't ensure that the Balance was maintained everywhere by himself. He set his kiseru down and began pondering ways to do it. This was the direction that much was certain.

Shunsui

Artist: Bleach OST - Song: Mysterious - Word Count: 521

Walking the narrow stone path that led him towards his destination Shunsui admired the landscape, currently basked in cool moonlight. Much had changed in four hundred years, but even so, much was still the same. There had been a number of new developments but the division barracks and the Captain Commanders headquarters were very much the same. There were plenty of new faces in those places though, in that way they were certainly changed. Sokyoku Hill was much the same with one key addition, it was the site of his former son in law's home. Tsubasa had married his daughter, and they'd had a friendly relationship. These days the two were no longer married, but Shunsui still considered Tsubasa to be his son-in-law in many ways.

Shunsui was in no hurry to reach his destination. These days he had little time to take leisurely lights under the moonlight, and he was planning on enjoying it. He pulled the pink kimono he wore closer over his shoulders as the wind blew once more. It was a cold night in the seireitei, most would likely be cozy in their homes, but there was a reason for Shunsui's night-time gallivanting. Tsubasa had been injured recently and while it was true that he had little time for personal affairs as of late, the man's house was a mere few minutes walk away. The least he could do was pay him a visit.

As Shunsui made his way up Sokyoku Hill he wondered if he'd come too late. He doubted that Tsubasa would be sleeping though, it wasn't that late, he assumed most of the soul reapers would still be up and about even if they were retired for the night. The house came into his view off in the distance shortly after he thought this and his worries faded away. He could see Tsubasa outlined by the light pouring out of the open door he currently blocked. Shunsui raised his arm in greeting, and quickened his pace somewhat.

The closer Shunsui got to the house the more he could make out of Tsubasa. As neared the house he could see the bandages that seemed to wrap Tsubasa's entire body. Shunsui had yet to see the extent of his former son in law's wounds, and it was somewhat worse than he expected. He was sure that the Unabara could handle it though. He was no weakling. Shunsui approached Tsubasa with a smile on his face and greeted the man.

"Tsubasa, my young friend. I hope you've got a drink prepared for me too. I heard you got knocked around a bit. Feeling alright?"

Shunsui joked but he did genuinely care about Tsubasa's well being. He made himself comfortable on the porch, reclining in a bench that he found empty. It was time to rest his legs after a long meandering walk. He'd always enjoyed the view from the top of Sokyoku hill, the only difference now was that he could view it in more comfort. That was one change he certainly enjoyed.

His thoughts of what to do with that were broken as his closest thing to a father appeared. Tsubasa didn't often get genuine concern from others these days when wounded. He couldn't help but appreciate that feeling of someone giving a damn about you.So often in his life, he was treated like his injuries weren't important. No matter how shook up or battered he was. He poured a cup and held it out for Shunsui as he laid his head back against the wall sighing softly. "Just wondering how he did it all those years, Yamamoto-san was an impressive man. I can't even fight my own daughter. Guess my sense of justice isn't that strong." He said commenting on his failure to stop Saiko. He didn't know how else to say the fact. Tsubasa could not fight her or hurt her truly in any circumstances. It just didn't happen for him there, he hurt himself to try and make her withdraw. He didn't know how else to do this anymore, the old him desired to fight differently. But maybe it was about time he stopped trying to emulate others and figure things out.

He'd remembered that fight on the Gold Coast. It was so simple in those days against Dragonslayer. Now it was just him trying to walk a tight rope. People had expectations of him to be something of a stand in for some. He was supposed to be some heavy hitter some called it or the strongest Shinigami in his age. Now he'd begun to understand what it meant to settle down. How it felt to see failure again and again. It could be stated very highly that he'd gained tremendous power. But all the power in the world couldn't help sometimes. "It's a strange thing, no matter how strong I get Dad. I can't seem to accomplish as much as I'd like. But I guess I'm not super man huh?" He said calling Shunsui as he always had. To him it was his father in a way, this relationship was the closest thing he had to one. Tsubasa and his parents didn't have time to truly bond before their deaths. Growing up in the Zaraki District had some psychological effects also.

So to say he was a strange one among the many around him. Among the Four Horsemen of his Clan and such, he was the only survivor. Ruin and Mirja had bonded but for Tsubasa, he was the last remaining vestige of a bygone age. Sometimes he pondered just disappearing and leaving this place to deal with things itself. But he reminded himself that he did have a duty to fulfill. The Balance of the world had to be protected from the greater threats. Tsubasa refilled his cup sipping slowly from it as he spoke again. "You and Ukitake-san both did it for so long, how did you manage it?" He said asking as he just didn't know anymore. Genuinely Tsubasa was tired of fighting these battles and going out. Trying to prove himself to others and for what exactly? Some acceptance that he wasn't a bad guy? His friends knew that well enough about him. That he did whatever he did for the greater good of people. The Outcasts and those abandoned by society troubled him. So he welcomed them into his clan.

But that wasn't enough for the vultures, was it? It was never enough for the world as it beat and bore down on others. Tsubasa did have the resolve and the capability to keep going. But some days it felt like the weight of a heavy burden. He was judged more harshly than others for actions and not forgiven lightly. His actions were weighed and measured by everyone closely. It would have been nice to be just some unknown forgotten record. He often wondered if just erasing peoples memories entirely would be possible. But dramatics and strange thoughts aside he wondered on that topic again. The Balance of the World, Yamamoto defended the justice of it or did he. "Dad, do you know why he tried so hard? Yamamoto-san I mean..Was he protecting the Justice of the World? Or was he protecting something else entirely? I find myself focusing on the Balance and how terribly off it is present." Tsubasa couldn't help but bring his father-in-law into the subject.

It was nice to just have someone or anyone to talk to in this situation. It was strange as most people didn't get to see this vulnerable side of him questioning things. But Shunsui wasn't most people in that way either.

Shunsui

Artist: Bleach OST - Song: Mysterious - Word Count: 576

Shunsui took the cup offered him with a thanks but waited a moment before he indulged himself. He'd been making an effort to cut back on his drinking these days, only slight though. He adjusted his position in order to glance over at Tsubasa as the man began to speak. He made a habit of looking at people when they spoke to him, something he'd been taught many years ago.

"Our old Captain Commander was a strong man. He was stern, but he was also reliable; responsible. Because of his position people asked a lot of him, and he did everything in his ability to live up to their expectations. He taught me that every man must follow his own justice. Are you sure you're thinking about the problem in the right way? "

Shunsui took a drink from his cup before he continued. He was surprised by how strong the drink was, but in his opinion that was perfectly fine. It would be fine to get a little drunk tonight.

"None of us are ever able to accomplish everything we want to. It's just a part of life. Sometimes it seems like you've managed to do it for a while, but those periods are few and far between. Most of the time everything's just a mad scramble. None of us are super man."

Shunsui sat in silence for a time as Tsubasa was caught up in thought. He looked out over the land and thought he could see motion off in the distance, but he couldn't be sure. Soon though, he turned to face the younger man once more as he began to speak.

"Me and Ukitake have always relied on each other for support. We've made it through every major obstacle together, and our teamwork has become quite effective. It makes things a lot easier I assume. I'm not quite sure how it would be without him."

As Shunsui finished speaking Tsubasa began again, this time with questions of the past. Shunsui had fond memories of the past, the times when Yamamoto was still alive, when they'd first met Ichigo, the times when things were simpler. Whatever Tsubasa wanted to know, Shunsui was happy to answer, it helped him to relive a time from his past that he'd greatly enjoyed.

"Yamamoto-san was a man filled with strong ideals. The justice he sought was not his own though. He looked after soul society's justice. As you are not Captain Commander at the moment you must use your own justice, and no one else's. His goal was to protect soul society, but that is not your goal right now. You must act to achieve your goal by following your justice. As for the balance... I'm not sure what can be done about it at this point. Soul Society has faced many ordeals lately. You've forced me to be much more wordy than I usually am, but the topic isn't a light one."

With that Shunsui raised his cup to his lips once more and drained it. With a sigh he slouched backwards, closing his eyes. He was not tired, he just found it pleasant to do so at the moment. He could hear the cicada cry as he rested. They were very lively lately. Sometime's he wished he was a cicada. He'd heard they slept for seventeen years.

He was thankful for the answers and a chance to ask questions. Wasn't his justice the same as theirs was it? No, it was entirely different and so too was the effect and method. It was because he went for a justice that wasn't his own anymore. He defended the wrong justice at the point time as he sipped from his drink. Tsubasa didn't really know how to word it, but his father-in-law was a wise man. Despite his antics at times and how he hides it behind that veil. He remained silent listening as he thought on the subject now. Considering what was said and taking it true to his heart. Ibiki and himself formed a vanguard that protected the Justice here. Failure wasn't an option in those days. He couldn't bow down before anyone or anything at that time. When he became the Captain Commander, he'd become aware of it. The weight that Yamamoto-san carried on his shoulders. That Haori was a heavy one, something one needed to consider. "Your right, my justice is no longer their justice."

It took him a while to understand that the two justices they fought for were different fundamentally. Tsubasa fought to try and restore his name fruitlessly. But now it was time for him to focus on the Balance now as his clan was meant too. Regardless of who their enemies were, they would protect it. "Apologies for that dad, but your advice has been fruitful as always." He said raising his cup a bit as he glanced out over the horizon. Silence and only the cicada's making noise within the distance. The Unabara were protectors of the Balance as put by the Soul King himself. The mandate wasn't one Tsubasa took lightly for anything. The balance was needed in this world and the cycle needed to continue. His considerable power couldn't step in everywhere anymore. "Like most things, the answer isn't plain. But I do have some idea on how to start the process of restoring the Balance. Or at the very least monitoring it. " He said as he looked towards his father.

His resolve was restored for now and he was understanding of several facts. Tsubasa was a fast study and learned quickly when he asked. The first key fact was he couldn't do this alone. He needed someone else to act as part of a team with him. Someone who's justice wasn't compromised at the moment. The Raven's Nest could accomplish the goal of protecting and maybe keeping the Balance in check. It wasn't time for him to have an easy time doing things. No, because the challenges he faced were much harder. One key thing had to be remembered at all times. No matter how often he was compared to Yamamoto-San. He wasn't him and while that resolve was impressive in itself. He couldn't accomplish the same feats or perform that way. Tsubasa Unabara was a different man entirely and only capable of so much. He had a justice that didn't allow him to fight his children. Unless they did something against the balance entirely. He couldn't just walk in and be the savior people wanted.

Perhaps in this war he detected coming, his role wasn't to step in at all. Maybe it was for him to remain out of the situation. One of his female healers arrived now as she requested his right arm. He held it out for her to handle. "Ah, that time already. Changing the bandages and healing more." He slipped out of the top half of his kimono with some help. She undid the bandages slowly putting them in a bin. His father would likely notice the burns were from high amounts of electricity. Tsubasa had summoned power far beyond his regular amount. He'd not had enough time to adjust even though he could have struck his daughter with it. The curse of parenthood came back to bite. His right arm was damaged rather heavily but seemed to be recovering. The attendant bandaged him with special medicine and herbs in the bandages they soaked in. Then it was a bit of healing kido to begin repairing broken tissue among other things. Traveling was something he'd not be able to do for a bit.

After she finished redressing she gave a polite bow as he smiled nodding to her. She refilled Shunsui's sake cup before leaving the two alone again. Tsubasa's also had been given a refill as his attendants were good at that. "Well, the path is clear but not easy. Guess that makes life back on track." He said chuckling a bit a real laugh as he thought about it.

Shunsui

The night became even colder as the two continued to talk. Shunsui pulled his kimono more tightly around his body in an attempt to ward it off some, but that was mostly just habit. He was well used to surviving in any conditions by now, Shinigami were supposed to be able to thrive anywhere, so a little bit of cold didn't bother him too much.

"Don't worry about it kid. Glad to be of help."

As Tsubasa mentioned that he had plans for restoring the balance Shunsui's interest was definitely piqued. That was big talk, it would be no easy task even to get something like that in motion. Before he was able to reply though, the Unabara's attendant arrived to change his bandages. Shunsui watched as Tsubasa's wounds were dressed, and he could see that the wounds were from an overabundance of electricity. Perhaps they were from someone else, but Shunsui suspected that it had been the man's own power which injured him.

Shunsui looked down at his empty cup as the attendant healed and then dressed Tsubasa's wounds. He sighed and sat it down next to him. Oh well. As he sat waiting once more in the silence, relaxed as usual, he wondered how many times this had happened already. Tsubasa's wounds were pretty significant, and Shunsui wasn't certain how long the healing would take, although the attendant did seem to make some progress. He sniffed the air as the scent of the herbs that had been used to prepare Tsubasa's dressings finally reached his nose. It was a pleasant smell, if not a bit strong. Interrupting this train of thought the attendant appeared at his side, refilled his cup with a smile, and then made her way back into the house, he thanked her as she waked away. What a cutie. He said nothing though, not at a time like this. He nearly raised his cup to his lips, but remembering his attempts to drink less he waited.

As the woman left Shunsui's attention swung back to what he and Tsubasa had spoken of earlier; the balance. He was curious what kind of plans Tsubasa could have in mind, at the same time he was hesitant. He had a nagging though somewhere in the back of his mind that this task wasn't only difficult, but dangerous. How it could be dangerous? He did not know, yet he felt it all the same. Turning to address the Unabara, he spoke.

"Well, you've certainly piqued my interest, although for some reason I've got a bad feeling it . What are you planning to do exactly? This is no task for one man, you know. You'll need plenty of help if you want to get anything done."

Shunsui swirled the sake that had been newly added to his cup before drinking from it lightly. Although he was cautious it had been a while since he'd heard something as interesting as this, and so he felt a certain excitement that he'd felt so rarely lately. Or perhaps it was better to call it hope. He had hope that they could do something, anything, to restore the balance to at least a semblance of what it was supposed to be. Shunsui considered his decision making skills to be among the best, so if Tsubasa's plan made sense to him he would offer any help he was able. If not perhaps he could work out something else with the Unabara, as now he was invested in seeing the balance changed for the better.

Tsubasa thought in the long term, this solution would take time of course. As he finished his calculations his eyes opened and all strategic outcomes and possible avenues for it. But at this point, he guessed winging it was the best choice. " At present, I was in the middle of setting up a faction of sorts. It was to be a neutral party who helped those in need before. But, while I think that is an admirable goal. It's one that is covered well enough by others. Mongolia is its current home and with some doing it can begin monitoring the balance somewhat. Start sending souls and continuing the cycle." He said as he explained the Raven's Nest somewhat, he knew of a couple things going on. "The Raven's Nest, is the current name. It's lead by a Council instead of a leader and the people who work within it. Work in two person groups so they aren't alone for long periods or caught with their pants down." He said describing the faction he was creating.

"I previously went to Hawaii in a show of good faith to the Vanguard. But as you've stated on my own I can only accomplish so much. I'll likely set out to gather like-minded people. Who'd like to see the Balance better maintained in the worlds including earth." He said admitting to the foolish mistake he'd come up with. He did have the Shinigami Doll's he had created as well. They could perform the same feats as a Shinigami. Though they weren't perfect beings in that manner. They did have the capability of monitoring the cycle and helping out. Was it possible to detect and send people where an issue with the cycle was at? Was that possible if he created something on that scale? The trouble was doing it with the current resources at his disposal. No, it wasn't for him to play God in such a way. "While it does appear to be in motion, for now, my Clan and I can attempt to..keep the Balance afloat..till more people desire a similar thing. I'm working on technology to detect spirits and such things. "

He said openly acknowledging he was in the progress of building several things. Tsubasa was an inventor of sorts like Kisuke and Mayuri. Though different from both in the long run. The problem really was a numbers game as people couldn't get around. Tsubasa did desire to see this change and to positively affect and go places. To help pluses be sent and hollows are cleansed. "It bothers me sometimes, you know building or going certain ways..Always feels like I'm playing God when I shouldn't be. But in terms of long term solutions, this is likely the best. The Gotei needed to change in some ways..But I fear some of it wasn't the most positive. Ibiki has her justice and I have mine..So far now I'll quietly work and try to build resources and things to begin healing the Balance and restoring it." He said softly as he leaned his head back taking a drink from his cup now. Tsubasa had explained it as best he could to his father-in-law.

The rest was a time and waiting for game truly in the sense of it. He'd withdraw from the battlefield now. Focusing on the idea of preparing to protect the Balance. To defend it, to maintain it and heal its wounds. Presently an unstable element lingered in the air. The older veterans truly noticed it and smelled it in the air. It wasn't something that lingered beneath it all. You simply could sense it and feel it's presence missing from things. Long ago the same thing happened with the Quincy. They didn't realize the destructive nature of their powers. It wasn't something people could see clearly without training. Shinigami were supposed to sense it and notice it without failure. But these days it seemed like the art form was falling through. Tsubasa didn't know if it began at the academy or with Ibiki's changes. He refilled his father's cup himself leaning over only wincing slightly. These bandages were a bit uncomfortable but were speeding his process of healing up.

Shunsui

Artist: Bleach OST - Song: Mysterious - Word Count: 618

Shunsui blew the stray piece of hair that always seemed to be lingering around his eye off to the side fruitlessly, it drifted away and then back again less than a second later. Giving up he looked over to Tsubasa and gave his full attention. The balance had always been dear to him, and it seemed his former son in law had much to say on the matter. He was proud that the Unabara acknowledged that he couldn't do everything on his own, and listened as he described his new faction. "The Ravens Nest" he called it. A fitting enough name.

As Tsubasa explained what he intended to do Shunsui began to think that perhaps he could make something good happen. He seemed to be dedicated to pursuing this goal, and if he was able to gather enough men then Shunsui though it might just be possible. With that thought in mind he decided that he'd offer whatever help he could, even if he would be busy with his duties as captain of the fourth division. Some help was better than none.

"You seem to have given this a good deal of though. I can't say that I'll be able to do much, but whatever help the fourth division can give you it will. I think you've got the right idea. Now just make everyone else think so too. Don't worry too much about the Gotei kid. I've got the feeling were on the rise."

Once more Shunsui raised his cup to his lips and drank. He was on his second cup now, and so he drank more slowly. It was to be expected that the hardest time to keep to his decision of drinking less was when he was actually drinking. In truth, he had no real reason to pursue this goal. His drinking didn't interfere much with his duties as captain, and in serious combat he sobered up immediately. It was just a task he'd set for himself, mainly to see whether or not he could accomplish it. In time he may become bored of it, but for now Shunsui was much better at resisting his temptation.

When sitting in silence many feel awkward. Shunsui has never felt awkward in silence. It's relaxing, tranquil even. He would often sit under the cherry blossom trees for hours, thinking over various things. He'd also trained under the cherry blossoms, and while there wasn't the same feel of silence, after a while the sounds of movement faded away and nothing remained. Sitting in silence on Tsubasa's porch he though of the balance. What it meant, why it needed to be protected. He thought of Soul Society as a whole, and of the Gotei and their various reformations. Why had things become so chaotic?

"I'm excited to see how everything turns out. Make sure you pick the right men for the job though."

Shunsui was rarely the one to break a calming silence, but occasionally in times like this he did so. It helped that he enjoyed conversing with Tsubasa. He wondered if the Unabara had any more of his plan though out as of yet, or if he would simply see where the wind blew him. Shunsui relied on a combination of both. Sometimes going where the wind took you got you in to sticky situations, he'd found this out over his many years in service to the Gotei, and even a few times before then. It didn't always happen, sometimes things turned out perfectly fine. The complications that arose when things did go wrong, however, were usually on a much larger scale.

Tsubasa merely remained quiet for now, it was about time he repaid his father-in-law for the years of advice and care. One of his attendants appeared handing him a document file with a name written on it. It had details and information on a person for Shunsui. He took the file softly from the female's hands as she offered a bow and headed back into the shadows. He handed it off, the file was titled, Jaeden Crow. "He's a young man of some promise, he stopped working with the Gotei 13 due to unknown reasons when I came in. He's got good technique in hoho and a strong sense of justice. Figured he may interest you, he's a vizard currently residing in the Rukongai." He said softly leaving it at that for them. It was up to them how the rest of this went. Tsubasa didn't intend to get involved in his father's matters too heavily. His place was no longer within that organization. His duty was elsewhere, but he saw one who lost his light and motivation. A Captain struck down in an invasion who was tortured inside.

Tsubasa sensed a kindred spirit there and wanted to prevent a negative outcome. He worked around for a bit from what the Unabara could gather. Even aiding in an attack on the Soul Society at one point. Tsubasa didn't know what exactly else one could expect from it. Tsubasa had a trip to make and to let them know his intentions finally. He'd not let the Vanguard into his plan for the Raven's Nest yet. But due to the evolved nature of it. They deserved to know what came of it now, would he be an ally of justice? Not exactly, he was a keeper of the balance. Tsubasa couldn't do it all alone and that fact remained a truth. It was a strange testament to find yourself in. Perhaps he'd not get involved anymore in those fields. But something told him battle wouldn't let him go so easily. This diary of madness didn't end with a single battle after all. Jaeden's skills and stuff brought back sour memories for him. He drank his cup and refilled it along with his fathers again as he leaned against the door.

"Crow-San has had a rough life from what I gather, he could use someone to tease him a bit." He said offering a slight smile as the male was certainly in his own depth. He didn't know exactly what to expect of things. But Jaeden's motivation and goals seemed to of ended there. He lost everything he was destined for with a singular push of his life. His light seemed to fade into darkness after becoming a Vizard. The rest was unknown even to a man of Tsubasa's status. "Before anything though, I journey home to the Zaraki District. Pay respects to my family and begin the process of finding those with the will to defend the Balance." He said looking up towards the moonlight that graced them with its presence. "It's my duty as the last one remaining of the Unabara Clan. Tsunashi, Tsubaki, and Pestilence were interesting siblings to have. I can only carry their memory and burdens on my shoulders. As I continue towards this path I've chosen. Never backward, always forwards."

Shunsui

Artist: Bleach OST - Song: Mysterious - Word Count: 554

Shunsui looked on curiously as Tsubasa received a folder from one of his attendants. She came and left quickly, he wasn't sure if she was the same woman from last time. Tsubasa handed him the file and he took it, holding it closed for the moment as he listened to the Unabara's briefing. This Jaeden Crow sounded interesting. Shunsui opened the folder and took his time looking over its contents. It seemed that there were more and more Vizard as time went on. Shunsui felt uneasy about this. Sure there were some who made good use of these abilities, and were able to adapt quite readily to their new condition, such as Ichigo. Not everyone, however, had such an easy time of it. Some experienced a great amount of distress from the experience, and others still were taken over entirely by their hollow. Shunsui had certainly never considered becoming one himself, he intended to rely only on his Shinigami abilities.

"Ah, I see. I'd heard fleeting rumors of him, but nothing as concrete as this. Thanks kid, I'll look in to it when I get some time."

Shunsui held his cup out and allowed it to be filled once more. Giving little thought to the matter he downed it entirely and laid the cup down to rest.

"I'll track him down when I'm able. I might set someone else on it if my schedule doesn't free up soon, but I'll see to it. Which reminds me, my new division needs fleshing out, if you catch my drift. I'll need to look in to that as well."

Shunsui noticed that Tsubasa seemed to be getting lost in thought fairly often tonight. Perhaps he was just trying to process a lot at the moment. It would certainly make sense with everything that he'd been planning. Shunsui listened to Tsubasa speak once, and noticed the Unabara's gaze fading off into the distance. He made a habit of not interrupting when he could help it, so he sat quietly until Tsubasa had finished, then he made his reply.

"Hmm, are you sure you're fit to be going anywhere right now kid? Looks like you oughtta relax for a while longer. You might not want to do all of that heavy lifting just yet either."

Shunsui smiled at his own joke and joined Tsubasa in looking up towards the moon. It was quite large in the sky, and its light alone mostly lit the landscape that lay before them. It was always an interesting sight, seeing the Seireitei cast in a different light. It was always new too, as the light never quite played across the landscape one night as it had on another. Shunsui took pleasure in small things such as this, as there was a certain serenity to the whole thing. Especially the view he was seeing right now. Shunsui stood to get a slightly better view of the landscape in front of him. He could see the path he'd taken to get here illuminated more fully now, a slight cloud covering since having blown away. Further in the distance he saw a group of younger shinigami treading their own path, even so late in the night. He wondered where it would take them.
