You know, for a man who has spent the last few years dead, one would think that he would want to spend more time actually being active and doing his own thing in the world. One would possibly consider that maybe, just maybe he would try and make some kind of waves in the world, especially since he hadn't properly announced his return yet - the return of Daigoro Ito, back from the dead, not even kept down by the Reaper - yet at this point in time, he didn't really feel like it. He had a new face, a new body and, while his powers had not changed, it seemed that he had returned back into the body of the Shinigami he once was. All of this put together functionally meant that, above all else, he really wasn't as quickly recognised as one would expect. As such, he didn't particularly want to rush back into the grand fight of the world. Sure, the first person who tried to fight him and came to understand exactly who he was would potentially reveal that to the world around, but that didn't mean to say that he was necessarily caring about that fact right now. Besides, who would randomly challenge him?

Light snoozing was instead the name of the game, and it was a game that Dai intended to play around with for as long as he felt comfortable doing so. The afternoon sun was warm against his face, the grasses below him were comfortable and soft, and he had little to no responsibilities to care about right now. The angel had stopped existing in him, most likely the reason for his resurrection from madness in the first place. Therefore, he had nothing driving him. This would likely bore him eventually, but right now? Right now he had all the time in the world, and that was all right with him.

Jūshirō Ukitake

Jūshirō had decided to chaperone this small trek into the World of the Living. It was, in some people's mind, a mistake. Sure, students rarely misbehaved around him. They respected, feared, or pitied him enough to be on good behaviour. If they did misbehave though, it wasn't like he could keep them in line with anything but stern words. He didn't mind it though. Unless they got too rowdy, Jūshirō would just chalk it up to "kids being kids" even if they were far past the "kid" stage in their development.

Today's trip was a simple one. It was navigating a city in the World of the Living. There were only a handful of prospective Shinigami who could remember their time alive, and none of them were from this time period. Even Jūshirō had a hard time finding his way around these large metropolises occasionally. The only reason he seemed to never get lost was a retinue of students and Shinigami who looked after his wellbeing—against his wishes.

The students were going to go on a scavenger hunt around Karakura and find a collection of items—then report back to him. The final test he was keeping a secret. Jūshirō would not be at the rendesvous point. His students would have to use their skills to locate him. He was confident in their abilities to do so. Today, Jūshirō decided to relax in the sun. Kiyone and Sentarō would insist on him staying in the shade. He was feeling fine today though, so he thought it would not matter.

He was wrong.

Jūshirō was already sweating and out of breath by the time he reached any meaningful shade. It was... not fun for him. He enjoyed getting out, but he would be lying if he said that it was always worth the pains. Today was seeming to be one of the latter days. Jūshirō finally crested a small slope, noticing the forest truly beginning at its bottom. It was great for him. As he began to step down, his foot caught. He nearly stumbled and fell. Instead, he hopped on one foot until he could balance himself out.

Thinking it was a root, he turned to see what kind it was. It was the kind of root that moved and happened to be attached to a body. This meant it was someone's leg. Jūshirō immediately apologized. "Oh, my apologies." Despite how horrible he felt (and looked), Jūshirō smiled to the young man he nearly tripped over. "I didn't see you there. I hope I didn't disturb you. I wasn't expecting someone to be lying down."

He did not notice the supposed feeling of something hitting lightly against his leg. Why would he - it was clearly not an attack he needed to be cognizant of, therefore what good did it to do worry himself over it? Even though he felt it (by virtue of the power level of the being who tripped over him) it did not really register in his mind as something that he felt the need to consider. It was not until the soft voice of apology roused him from his light slumber that he slowly opened his eyes and looked to see who was above him. It took him a moment, but when the face fully came into view he had to take a second to ensure that he was seeing this correctly. If his eyes were not deceiving him, that was Ukitake Jushiro, former Captain of the 13. What devilry led to him being in the position to trip over this man's leg?

"Ah, don't mind me, I barely felt it," he gave a soft, relatively unbothered smile in return to the former Captain, "You'd have had to have given it a swift kick to have been anything more than a light tap anyway." Taking the moment to stretch out and sit up, the man looked cautiously and curiously at the other before turning his gaze to the rest of the forest, "In all fairness, perhaps sleeping here wasn't the best use of my time," a yawn, "But it was just so comfortable, the sun was warm, I couldn't help myself..." he smiled and shook his head, "Though enough about me - what of you? Are you all right? Hurt in any way?" He tilted his head questioningly, continuing to feign ignorance about the presence before him.
