Law

Artist: YYH OST - Song: Kurama's theme - Word Count: 750

Law stepped out of the airplane he'd been on for the past fifteen or so hours and stretched his legs. He'd never been to London before, and while that meant that there were plenty of interesting things to see for the first time, it also meant that he had to be questioned before entering. This turned out to be somewhat of a nuisance, as it was no quick ordeal. Quickly after he stepped off of the plane two men came up to him and escorted him to a small building that sat off to the side and out of the way of the usual proceedings. The man in front opened the door and the three of them made their way inside. There were 4 small chairs around a circular table, a water dispenser sat in the corner, and there was a small window with the blinds opened so that Law could see the runway from his seat. The two men questioned him for what felt like hours, alternating between talking to him and stepping outside for a moment to discuss his answers. Eventually though he was able to convince the men questioning him that he possessed no ill intentions towards their leader or organization, and that it would be best for everyone if he were to be let inside the city. Which was true, he was only here to do research and could very well end up joining Shadowfall. He was leaning more towards joining the Monsuta at the moment, but that didn't mean that he couldn't change his mind. Even if he did join the Monsuta it would merely be as a mercenary, he enjoyed keeping his options open. Often times the best way to make money was to play multiple sides of the field, a skill that he'd been developing for some time now. It took a certain amount of skill and thought to do this however. He sold his services to the highest bidder, but sometimes he had to turn down the highest paying jobs if they directly interfered with another organization he was helping. It was best to keep getting steady work from both sides, his pay was decently high regardless, no reason to get greedy in the short term and miss out on the opportunity to make more in the long run. After flying for fifteen hours and being interrogated for an hour and a half Law was more than ready to be on his way. Law found his own way out of the airport, and finally out on the street lit a cigarette. The road he was walking on was cobbled with grey and black stone and there were several cafes and small restaurants on both sides of it. As this was shadowfall territory he didn't imagine that it would be all that hard to find a member of the organization here. He wanted to have a contact within shadowfall, someone who could tell him when it would be a good time to offer his services, but he didn't want to meet their commanders at this point in time. He liked to know what he was getting himself in to first. Law was fascinated by the aesthetic of New London, it was like nothing he'd ever seen anywhere else. He enjoyed it though, it gave the city a unique feel that he appreciated. About a half mile down the road a cafe caught his eye. There were many clockwork pieces strewn about, and looking up he saw a sign that read "Clockwork Cafe". There were a few tables that sat in front of the building, each with several chairs sitting around them, enclosed by a small black gate with several interesting embellishments but there was no one to take his order out here. He made his way inside, ordered a cup of tea after waiting in a very small line consisting only of two others, who decided to remain in doors, and asked that his drink be brought to him outside. Only a few minutes later he was enjoying his tea and another cigarette at the table furthest from the door, wondering how exactly he was going to find someone who belonged to shadowfall with nothing to go on. For now he decided that he'd just keep his eyes and ears open, no need to do anything drastic. He had all the time in the world, now all he needed to do was be patient.

Law

Artist: Bleach OST - Song: Going Home - Word Count: 755

Law took another drink from his already half empty cup, relishing the taste. It was a black tea, and the flavor was bold and distinct. He couldn't help but think that this was the best tea that he'd ever had. Sitting the cup down on the table, Law took another drag off of his cigarette, then put it out on the stones beneath his feet. While the music wasn't as loud out here as it was inside of the cafe, he could still hear it quite well and particularly enjoyed the song he was hearing right at the moment. The wind was whipping at his face, and he was glad that he was wearing his jacket, as the long collar protected his neck and the lower half of his face from the wind and cold. As the song ended he looked up and back towards the cafe, and noticed the small blonde girl who had entered the cafe after he had staring his way. He winked at her, then turned his head back towards the street and continued to drink his tea. When he looked up at the sky he could see large rain clouds gathering above him, completely covering all of it that he could see. It seemed as if they would begin releasing whatever water they held soon. Law hoped that the rain wouldn't interfere with his ability to locate shadowfall, but it really couldn't be helped, nature would do as it pleased. It wasn't as if he'd expected to find shadowfall on his first day here in the first place. He was sure it would take several days to a week at the earliest to find them, and then he'd have to go about deciding exactly how he would arrange this relationship. He'd also need to find a hotel before too long so he'd have a base of operations, and a place to sleep. Before very long he'd reached the bottom of his cup, having drained it all while has was lost in though. He stood up, pushed his chair in to the table so that it wouldn't be in the way, and made his way back into the cafe to return the cup. As he walked into the cafe he felt the air warm and could smell the scent of freshly brewed tea that filled the building, he also smelled something new being prepared, some kind of pastry or cake. He noticed the girl still at her table, with her own tea, and enjoying some food of her own. She was wearing bright colors and contrasted with almost everything else that surrounded him. She drew his attention, and he decided that he might as well introduce himself. Sure he was supposed to be looking for shadowfall while he was here, but it never hurt to talk to cute girls. As he walked nearer he pulled the chair opposite her away from the table and sat down casually.

"You know, you stick out like a sore thumb in this place. Especially with that outfit. Everything else is a bit more bland. My name's Law, how about yours?"

As he waited for her response Law wondered if it was the best idea to spend his time in such a manner. He could be looking for shadowfall instead of wasting his time doing something like this. But in the end he decided that it wouldn't matter. He had always been lucky, things would find a way of working themselves out in his favor sooner or later, like they always had before. He could also leave at any time, it wasn't as if he was committed to staying here now. The song that had been playing since he walked inside suddenly ended, and after a moment a different one took its place, filling the cafe with music once more. It was a mellow solo guitar song that he found truly beautiful. The song sounded warm, and was fairly slow paced. It wasn't played perfectly but somehow that added even more to its charm. Law leaned back in his chair, rocking it up on to two legs and then put his hands behind his head, interlocking his fingers. Whatever happened, it was nice to be somewhere he'd never been able to visit before. This place seemed more interesting that the everyday city, at least it did to him. He imagined he'd have fun scouring this place for shadowfall.
