Shattering Corruption (open)

Artist:Pentakill - Song:Lightbringer- Word Count: 1279
The air was thick with corruption, whatever strange force that assaulted this place leaving quite the mess behind. The entire city smelled of death, debris and ruin in every direction for miles. With each step one took, the taste of the wicked essence grew stronger, and who knew how potent it would be at the heart of it all. But that is exactly why he was here in the first place, to unravel that mystery and put an end to just another bit of madness that had overtaken the world. On the top of tall, cracked and lifeless buildings that overlooked the city stood a single man. Twin scarves blew behind them from the desolate wind passing by. Their green eyes scoured the landscape below, seeing far deeper into the soul of this tragedy than most, and not just from how high up they were standing. Their hand rested gently on one of their twin blades, looking for any signs of creatures or other unusual creations. The tainting energy was toxic, sticking to him like glue and trying to infect him like the others. The man was already far in the center of the city, the vile power that resonated within being some of the most dangerous and corrosive. Fortunately, the young man was more than equipped to handle these sorts of things. Though a sigh did escape him, looking over the ruin and pondering just what this kind of power must have done to the people that lived here. Even decently potent souls could find themselves being overtaken n a place like this, but that is why someone like Dellapero had come. As one of the best Humanity had to offer against the tides of chaos, to crush it and shatter this darkness with a beacon of light.
"Jeez, they weren't kidding about this place. And not a single person saw what happened?"
The man shook his head, finding that a little hard to believe. This was Shadowfall's territory, so they were probably holding something back. Hell, odds were they were the source of this incident in the first place. In any event, the lone hero had a job to do, to bring an end to this corruption, ensure it never happens again, and save as many as possible, if any souls even remained in this wasteland of corrosion. He walked to the edge of the rooftops, looking down on the streets below. The corruption was thickest there, a miasma of it overtaking the streets and the buildings, one that only got denser the farther down the road you ventured.
Dellpero unsheathed his sword and leaped right into the heart f it, falling right into the veil of darkness and the streets below. A word left his mouth as he descended, holding his blade toward the ground like he was poised to strike it.
"LIGHTBRINGER!"
An explosion of energy rippled from the swordsman's body as the bulk of his power was brought forth in a single move! His feet touched the ground, sword plunging into the earth as it transformed! The ordinary katana grew, the curvature shifting from a sharp bend to the flat edges of a bastard sword in his grip. It easily cut the ground, plunging several feet deep in the earth and absorbing the impact of his fall. Bright white light rippled out from his position, beams of energy piercing the miasma for miles and breaking it apart! The explosion expanded outward, destroying any corruption around him, both in the streets, the underground, and even some of the buildings close by. The foulness that polluted this Earth had no place there, and the blade in his hand would serve as a tool to break it apart and restore this place to what it once was.
Sparks of green crackled around Dellapero's body as well, his blood pumping and reacting to the adrenaline coursing through him. His muscles tensed against the weighted cloth around his flesh, already preparing him for battle when he found the core of this destruction, The white sword plunged into the earth released a constant veil of purifying holy power, breaking apart and purifying any corruption that dared to even come close. As soon as the energy reached a twelve-foot area around the man, it would rapidly break down and be destroyed, leaving a small space around him completely free of that corrosive darkness.
The Human warrior pulled his sword from the ground, looking ahead. Even if the miasma got thicker and the corruptive energy got stronger, so long as he wielded this power with conviction, it wouldn't slow him down or get in his way. The space around him was a beacon of opposition to whatever had befallen this place. With his sword armed and ready, Grance marched onward, the barrier moving alongside him and destroying any loose darkness that defiled the road. However, this power had a limit. The areas he purified when he first unleashed this potent power were consumed by the very corruption that was free from the moment they left the center of origin. Just clearing an area wouldn't solve this. The only way was to eradicate the source
The former Vanguard Operative watched the area very carefully with his enhanced senses, prepared to fight at the drop of a hat. If he could find anything or help anyone, his venture here would be worth it. The buildings all seemed desolate and abandoned. Yet he swore he could hear stirring in the distance. The loud eruption of energy was sure to do one of two things. Either scare any agents of the shadows away or draw them closer than ever now that there was a real threat roaming the empty streets. Each step he took crackled with green lightning, his body improving itself rapidly even before a single threat appeared, reacting on his frustration and sorrow that flooded his veins from looking upon such devastation. It was sickening, but it was far from unfamiliar to him at this point. He had seen worse from the numerous wars he'd been in before. The thoughts of their failures at Iceland and the thousands that died during the invasion on the moon still lingered in his mind. But that just served to reinforce how important it was for him to come here at times like these and rectify things before another horrid incident took place.
So the man walked, moving deeper and deeper into the heart of corruption until he found something, or something found him...

The air, was thick, and heavy. And an ominous feeling filled the streets that were walked by the human, Dellapero. Something, was out there, and that something, was coming. It was sudden, and yet slow, as the monster of a thing padded out from a nearby broken building, and then stared at the human for some moments. It was quite a beast to behold. Four meters tall at the shoulder, and big. This thing would easily top nine hundred pounds of muscle. And the teeth, like knives. There was also a strange mask on it's forehead, hard to see as it's black colour blended with the black fur to a good degree. It stared at Dellapero, and then slowly walked over to him. The muzzle of the giant wolf-creature was certainly ominous, but the slow pace implied it was not here to make Dellapero dinner.
And so, when it got to him - an incredibly thick and heavy Reiatsu emitting from the beast, as if someone had grabbed the gravity knob and twisted it to be several times higher than the norm - it would bend down and, try to lick him. The wolf could think of no better way to show that it was not here for a fight, but to protect the people of the city, what was left of them. And then it sat down, and growled, gesturing with it's head to the copious back that it possessed. Apparently, Dellapero was going to get a Wolf to ride into the city, looking for danger and what was left to rescue. Not that he would know it at the time, but The Wolf would certainly do the same as any normal horse and allow him a much faster ride around the ruined city.
