A New Face [Rukia/Saisei]
Sun Mar 05, 2017 2:28 am
❄❆❄
As she made her way through the Fuma Gardens, Rukia's attention was captivated by how much Karakura had truly changed in her absence, though she did not expect anything less. It had been over nearly 400 years since she had stayed with the Kurosaki family — 400 years since the events that altered her life forever — and it had taken her nearly as long to realize that she had sorely missed this city.
Rukia unconsciously slowed her pace, admiring the array of plants, namely flowers, that were beginning to awaken from their winter slumber. Everything here was indeed beautiful, and most likely would have continued to be, were it left untended. Her footsteps guided her to drift between cherry trees, which would be blooming in more than a fortnight, no doubt, until a figure began to appear in front of her.
It was a boy, with unruly orange hair, and large, brown eyes. Had Rukia not noticed the short stature of him, she would've thought it to be Ichigo. Feeling particularly verbose, she observed that he was tossing a volleyball to himself, and spoke out to him, "I've never really understood the rules of volleyball, but I find it fascinating. I could toss for you, if you'd like — that way you don't have to do it yourself." She offered him a small, polite smile, hoping that she hadn't interrupted him.

Normally, Saisei was found in places far from civilization on days he had to himself. Much of his time was spent trying to better himself in one way or another, his Father's teachings continuing to shove him forward to his future goals. Though, today was different it seemed. Instead of off on his own somewhere entirely unknown to the world, Saisei was in Karakura. Deep within Karakura, in fact. One of the few famous spots within Karakura City, Fuma Park seemed to be the boy's residence for the time being. When the boy could be off, growing stronger and pushing his way through the world one step at a time, he decided he would rather spend it here in the city he currently stayed in. At a park. By himself.
There were relatively good things about being by himself, however. Saisei was a teenager by all means, meaning it was more than easy to entertain himself when he didn't have many allies or friends to seek out on days such as today. Besides, the boy was looking to pick up yet another skill in order to extend the thick resume the boy already had. Quick in both mind and body, what else could appease Saisei? Clearly, there was but a single choice for him to make. Volleyball was key. Volleyball. Alone, at a park. By himself.
While Saisei was far from stupid, he still had his faults. The cool spring air was met with gentle breezes and hundreds of cherry blossoms being flown to and fro among the Fuma Park residents. Saisei found himself in a small clearing among a set of nearby trees, aimlessly throwing the small ball up and down. There wasn't much to it, really. Doing such an activity alone only guaranteed that he would look somewhat silly in doing so. What kind of person threw to themselves in any sport? However, it was as if some unknown force felt pity on the boy. A quick jump jolted his body forward as a well spoken voice erupted from behind him. Forcing him to turn, Saisei took in what he could only believe to be... another teenager? It was odd to see kids of any age at Fuma Park given the majority of couples that use it as a getaway spot for their dates. Nevertheless, her interest in the ball he carried alongside himself seemed good enough for him.
Tossing it in her direction, Saisei smiled. "Not every day you get to see another kid around here. Shouldn't you be at school? I thought High-Schoolers still went on Saturdays." Gesturing towards her, Saisei motioned for her to toss the ball towards him. Whether she wished to be roped in or not didn't seem to be up for discussion, the new girl was very clearly going to be staying.

Rukia's demure smile was wiped cleanly from upon its icy slate — replaced by a look that resembled severe indignation. Her lips parted, and her jaw slackened, hanging agape at the boy's inquiry, albeit she did end up catching the ball effortlessly.
She bit back the urge to raise her voice at him, and let out a sigh before she spoke:
"I'm... not in school anymore," she stammered, attempting to regain her composure; he was after all just a boy, anyhow.
"I graduated a long, long time ago," Rukia finished, her lips resuming the shy smile that occupied them before her would-be outburst.
Realizing that the boy was now gesturing at her to throw the ball, she stepped forward with her left foot; her feet being no more than perfectly shoulder-width apart. The noble woman aligned her shoulders parallel to the horizon, and bent at the knees — placing all of her slight weight upon her back-heel.
She extended the ball outwards, it virtually hovering in her left palm at around waist-level. In an instant, she raised her opposite hand, spreading her fingers into the optimal serving position, and flexed the wrist attached to the hand that held the ball, sending it flying upwards.
The Royal Kuchiki pivoted on the toes of her back foot, and as if she were a cat, swatting at its prey, she made contact with the ball — serving it to the boy with chilling precision and accuracy.
