The final person coming to see him for training in his busy time. Tsubasa sat with a binder and book in hand. He was sitting in the middle of an area they used for training. Two people stood on either side of him wearing masks they were attendants a role that would become popular someday he guessed. His mind was currently devoted to the processor but he did get the letter letting him know. That this one was important and could be the future for them. Another bright star in the sky who shone brightly above the others. A path that had yet to be clearly illuminated for him. This wasn't uncommon in his mind to be selected to do such things for people. His mind was focusing on the processor and constructing one of the massive proportions to do this. Ibiki wouldn't stain her hands with these details. Nobody else had the pull that he did truly. Ibiki respected him at least last time he checked. So, for now, it was his job to do the things that needed to be done. The Gotei were behind and needed to be brought up to speed.

He closed the book handing it off to the female with the white rabbit mask as she and the other left. He pulled his pipe out as he decided to meet Henrex at Phase One. All journeys must begin at the very beginning as he smiled softly. Pulling his kiseru out he smoked his pipe now. Moving passed the stream and other things that he used to teach people. Tsubasa could easily guide someone in the art of the blade. Swordplay wasn't about swinging a blade with raw power. It was about using a delicately controlled stroke of the blade. Making a cut that would impact the enemy the most. As he walked towards the doll dressed in nothing and looking quite plan. He wondered over the years how many fell before this obstacle in training? His scarlet eyes stared off towards the River and something ominous looking. It was what appeared to be large walls that had a thing in the middle. It was a door built upon other doors. It opened based on the physical strength a person had.

Something more was required to open it than just raw physical potential. Otherwise, a great number would pass that trial. It was something that some people truly lacked. Resolve was the answer, he made it clear his training wasn't free. Tsubasa needed the last Retainer to be here. It wasn't going to work otherwise in his mind as he gently ran his fingers along a fan he pulled out. The metal fan had the symbol of his clan and was just as deadly a weapon in his hand as a sword. Tsubasa tapped his shoulders with it as he waited. In terms of presence, he wondered what Henrex expected. Would he find the Unabara to be what they were? The legendary assassins who were without a doubt the best fighters when it came to tactical warfare of the night. Blades and silence were their specialties. Tsubasa their leader even became well known enough to publish a couple books at one point. Speaking about the sword was easy to write down on paper. But it was time for them to see just how brightly this star could be polished to shine.

EMBRACE THE DARK

Artist: Guilty Crown - Song: Krone - Word Count: 614

Nothing is as fast or precise as the wind. It can be guiding and aiding, but it can also be powerful and dangerous. Remember this, Henrex. Be as fast, powerful, and unassuming as the wind, and nature itself will eventually bow down to the power of the Five Rings.

Those words...

The words that were echoed by his ninja Grand Master, Soke. He had told him this when they had gone over training within the five philosophies of both Japan and the Iga ninja. Earth, water, fire, wind, and sky. He had finally began using the Five Rings in practice. This was one of his personal tests to see if he had truly mastered the Five Rings. And so, this test was to combine the two rings of both Earth and Wind, to see if Tsubasa and his family was all that he said that he was.

After receiving the note that Tsubasa wanted to see him, Henrex had quickly checked the Shinigami Archives for the information that he wanted. Sure enough, he managed to get info the Unabara Clan. To say the least, he was both impressed and skeptical. So, he had decided to test both Tsubasa himself, and the Unabara Clan in total. In the middle of the night, the male had easily slipped inside, finding one of the people that he had seen be noted to be something of a "guardian" or a bodyguard towards Tsubasa.

It was undeniably easy with what had happened next. Using one of the Sixteen Fists of the ninja, Fudoken, Henrex was able to quickly knock out the other male before he made a noise, before stowing the unconscious body away, and dressing himself in the garbs that he had been wearing. Putting on a traditional oni mask, he was pretty much set for the appearance of the role. However, there were still some underlying aspects that he had to have taken care of first. As dawn came, his spiritual aura quickly silenced itself entirely, and his usual equipment were stowed away in the confines of his inner world.

As of now? He was standing in the presence of the man. Directly next to him, with his arms held firmly behind his back, making no sudden movements. It was not only a combination of the Ring of Earth, and the Ring of Wind, but there was also a third part of his ninja training at play. The Seven Ways of Going -- a bodyguard. So, it would be up to Tsubasa on if he was to discover the young man that he was attempting to see. A deep, quick, but silent breath came from him as he continued to stand next to Tsubasa. It probably wouldn't be long before he was discovered.

Meanwhile, he took this time to reflect on Tsubasa with his new eyes. The red and grey items that hung within the sockets slowly slid over to gaze softly at the golden-haired man that sat next to him. He didn't even need to detect his spiritual output to know that his power was simply monstrous. But, Henrex strangely felt no fear. He had faced power levels like this before, and he had made it out alive...only by the skin of his teeth. So, there should have been something, anything for him to be afraid of during this time.

But, he didn't.

He was strangely at peace. Perhaps it was due to the fact that Tsubasa was on his side, and there wasn't any reason to fear the man -- just yet, anyways. Lifting his hands from behind him and quickly adjusting the mask on his face to cover his pale skin more than it had, all Henrex could really do was wait.

His lips curved into a smile something happened almost instantly. Henrex had arrived and knocked out the guard as planned. But something happened that he doubted anyone expected. Tsubasa vanished completely, it was like he'd disappeared from the world. His reiatsu everything had vanished. No smell or anything could be found on the man. No sounds or footprints were left as he made his move. Tsubasa's attendant had been taken care of. He could tell just from his instincts that someone was here. Tsubasa's Focus became intent as he left behind the dummy and book. Replacing the bodyguard was a simple enough matter. Tsubasa's eyes watched within the shroud as Henrex moved around. Making sure to observe his movements and see how he acted. Tsubasa's skills at this were exceptional. He could even disappear from radars and such things. Using the shroud was somewhat of an advantage as an assassin. He could walk through entire crowds without even being seen or noticed by anyone. His disappearance was something complete and total. Why had he done it, was another reason.

Tsubasa's form moved behind the male no sound or smell even came. His movement was silent as not even his clothing moved. Tsubasa was calm and silent as his focus detected changes. Posture mostly was different here. Unabara used a different posture when they stood and moved around. He put an arm around Henrex's neck leaning on him a bit as he spoke. "Interesting tactic, I guess it's one way to infiltrate a place. You smell different and have a different posture though so noticing wasn't too hard.." He said calmly as his frame vanished with amazing speed. Tsubasa was back in his previous position picking up and dusting his book off. Bodyguards were pointless really since attacking Tsubasa wouldn't come easy. People had tried fighting him before and some considered him a legend. An assassin who could walk through defenses and defeat people. It was stated he could slice a person so quick that no blood would spill.

"Not bad, the world needs good assassins these days. People forget how to do it nice and clean anymore. Everyone wants to rush in and make a bunch of noise. Our clan has always practiced this way. Though we do have our more forward members." Tsubasa's senses were intensely keen as he picked up things. Henrex's posture suggested proper training. Though the person had taught him how to do the basic stuff. He'd never shown him how to disappear completely he guessed. Observing unless the guy wanted him to find him. Or perhaps a test of his Clan after the matter. Retainers had been found and selected as he stood next to the dummy. Plenty to do with Henrex if he decided too. It was entirely up to him as Tsubasa made the offer. Hoping to finish and get his last one. The Unabara Clan were rebuilding and become warriors. Skilled fighters without equal in this world. Men and women who embraced Carnage as what it was. They were going to explore a place few had.

Tsubasa's trick he hoped at the very least perplexed the male. Though he guessed the Horseman blessing and the stories about his vanishing presence. That wasn't something many paid attention too. Tsubasa's alertness to his surroundings was also extremely potent. He was highly aware of everything. Each sound and noise made from even breathing. It also helped he could tell when the male arrived due to his personal radar. Feeling static change a bit in the air. It was an interesting skill he picked up from old man Damien. His hand pulled his kiseru from his clothing and inhaled a bit as he lit it. Exhaling a small bit of smoke his scarlet eyes watched Henrex. His senses were completely tracking the male now. "Well, you ready to train and see how far you can get on my course?" He said with a slight smile on his lips.

EMBRACE THE DARK

Artist: HAMATORA - Song: Sen No Tsubasa - Word Count: 635

It wasn't long before he was discovered, it had seemed. He had been so focused on what the Pale Rider had left behind, that he hadn't even noticed that it had been a fake. Although, the topic of the fake interested him. Was it a lasting Hoho clone? Spiritual energy formed into a non-sentient being? All of these possibilities were something that would quickly be noted down in Henrex's mind as he continued to observe the mock Tsubasa.

As the words that came from the golden-haired man registered into his brain, his pitch black eyes slowly found themselves sliding towards the arm that Tsubasa had put around him. A strange feeling began to envelop his nerves, and his hand instinctively brushed away the limb, his right eye tensing and closing slightly from a brief wince as his feet quickly slid silently across the floor, and turned his body to face his trainer, now sitting where the mock himself had been just so recently. Sighing softly and reaching towards his face and pushing up the mask from his face, revealing the clean, recently de-scarred face of Henrex Astillon.

"I have yet to perfect the Five Rings. I figured that combining the Ring of Earth, Ring of Wind, and the Seven Ways of Going would be something that could at least prove a challenge to you. Unfortunately, it seems I was wrong. I should have expected nothing less from someone who supposedly was the former...Head Captain."

Trailing off the two words of Head Captain for a brief moment, his mind flashed back to the events within the match against the Monsuta Leader, Stefan Soan. He remembered that the green-haired man had mentioned Tsubasa, and that he had been slain by him, and that he was the Head Captain. So, the eyes of the male narrowed gently, peering into the crimson eyes of the Pale Rider, before widening slightly from the partial compliment. His training as a shinobi had payed off a bit. A small bit of pride welled up in his chest, but he was quickly able to conceal it, his face returning to the neutral gaze.

"T...Thank you, Tsubasa-sama. I do hope that I can apply this training to my skills as both samurai and ninja. But, in regards to the more forward members of your clan, I can see where that comes from. No two seeds will yield the same harvest. Everyone will have their own personal preference."

As his lips uttered the Japanese honorific, he found himself not only standing just the slightest bit straighter, but also found himself tensing by the slightest. It had been quite a long time since he had used these kinds of terms towards others. For him, the Way of the Samurai had died centuries ago. But, the teachings from his homeland still called out to him, and old habits died hard. And so, a rare smile passed over the straight line that was Henrex's mouth. As Tsubasa asked him if he was ready, and to see how far he would get on his "course", he prepared himself to answer...before halting himself.

He had to pick his next words very, very carefully. So, with a deep breath and a determined gaze from the pitch black voids of the Astillon boy, he nodded silently, before the weapons that he had sent to his inner world quickly materialized, with only the katana that was his Zanpakuto being visible after the small burst of energy withdrawal to bring items out of the world of his Zanpakuto spirit's. With multiple hidden weapons of various kinds now present on his body, Henrex felt a bit more prepared to take on whatever the Pale Rider had in store for him. Not to mention just a tad bit more safe with a weapon at his side, minus his hands and feet.

Tsubasa listened as he smiled a bit. That was one of his more favored beliefs. "There is nothing outside of yourself that can ever enable you to get better, richer, stronger, or smarter. Everything is within. Everything exists. Seek nothing outside of yourself." Tsubasa said obviously quoting Musashi in a way. Tsubasa had studied and believed the same belief with one change. "I prefer that one, but I have my own as well." He said shrugging his shoulders as he nodded. He walked over to the dummy put his hand on it. His scarlet eyes moving to Henrex now. "Strike this, if your attack's and resolve aren't there. You'll be struck back, don't try to force your blows. Be like water, fluids and flexible. Capable of crashing in moments notice upon your foes" He said before stepping away from it now as he gestured for him to go ahead. Tsubasa would invite him soon to be the Retainer. But he wanted to see what else Henrex had. The shinobi skills were impressive and useful.

But Tsubasa was certain the skills of a swordsman were more useful in some ways. He wanted to see the blow Henrex did if he had the resolve. The resolve beyond just defeat this a fire burning within to push him past things. When he struck did the strike with his resolve? Did he flow and let his body move as it should. Or did he move with the little grace? It was a question that would be answered here. Many had died doing this test of Tsubasa's. He decided to show him stepping over to another dummy. Tsubasa drew a singular blade from his waist. Slowly leveling it as he exhaled a breath the strike was quick. Henrex may have missed it as he struck the blow. It was an assassin's strike if that had been a live body no blood would have spilled. Tsubasa's blade was silent and made no noise even as it crashed. He sheathed the weapon, the blow itself was fluid. Almost as though a current of water with his control. Capable of changing directions at moments notice if need be.

But it was time for Henrex to shine at the moment. They described him as a star. That wasn't a proper image of him in Tsubasa's eyes. No, this boy was more akin to the moon that stayed within the sky. That elusive shadow that hung behind the sun. A star and once in generation skilled fighter. It wasn't about being a fighter in his eyes. Everything had its place and the Unabara taught how to move. How to fight and become true Masters of a craft. Perhaps Henrex could use the Crimson Lotus when awoken further. But this wasn't the time for future plans, it was time to see just what kind of man stood here. He wouldn't call him a boy again since it was rude. Tsubasa didn't belittle people or look down on others. He was the Former Head Captain. Tasked with nothing at the moment but rebuilding his clan.

EMBRACE THE DARK

Artist: KY0UMI - Song: Blue Bird - Word Count: 757

Musashi.

He would recognize that quote from anywhere. Having met the famous swordsman in the flesh, Henrex had spent quite a deal of time in his past interacting and speaking with the man. So, an even greater deal of pride began to swell in his chest as he stood in front of the golden-haired Unabara. So, another rare smile passed over Henrex's face, before his mismatched eyes shimmered with light as they gazed at the other man's crimson eyes. A quiet chuckle came from the Hybrid boy, his eyes closing, before opening -- gazing at Tsubasa once again.

“The primary thing when you take a sword in your hands is your intention to cut the enemy, whatever the means. Whenever you parry, hit, spring, strike or touch the enemy's cutting sword, you must cut the enemy in the same movement. It is essential to attain this. If you think only of hitting, springing, striking or touching the enemy, you will not be able actually to cut him.”

His own words would be from the book that Musashi himself had written, named "A Book of Five Rings". It was something that Henrex had spent hours reading to learn more about the swordsman. The hand of the male drifted over the weapon at his side, the icy blade and hilt generating an frozen aura, invisible to the eye. A small shudder traveled down his spine as his fingers hovered over the handle.

A deep breath came from him as he feet softly carried him to stand directly in front of the dummy. His eyes scanned over it, observing every last speck of coverage on the object. As his mind recalled on the words that were spoken so recently, his mind began to clear itself. If he were to strike without resolve, the item would strike him back? That fact alone made his hand grip around his Zanpakuto relatively tight. Where was his resolve? That was the question that he could only ask himself.

With his eyes darting over to Tsubasa, his ears detecting the sound of metal scraping against wood, even his new eyes were barely able to keep up with the speed of which the man attacked with. A slight gasp of astonishment came from Henrex as one of his eyes settled on staring at the clean blade of the sword that he had just lashed out with. Even these new eyes of his weren't fast enough to keep up with him. Then again, Tsubasa was an even greater swordsman than himself. It was something that roused up a sum of courage to prove himself in front of the gold-haired man.

As his mind traversed back to the words that he had spoken earlier, his mind instantly locked onto the lessons revolving around the Ring of Water. The philosophy was easily able to be compared to this lesson. He had to adapt "nagare", or flow to his strikes. Of all things, a ninja should choose the water to be their closest ally. It can be calm and peaceful, but it can also be powerful, and strike like thunder. This mindset was what caused a second, much shorter blade to appear at his side. But, the weapon would not be resting in the sheath for long, as it was quickly ripped from the sheath, as was his primary weapon: the katana.

His eyes closed, and he imagined the crystal clear of the ocean. As his eyes opened, he could see the being that his resolve was focused on. While his eyes were very capable of cancelling out some illusionary powers, his eyes were no match for the creativity of his own mind. As the mental picture of a black figure standing in front of him, his eyes glowing with their sickening color of green. His eyes narrowed, and his arms would quickly enter into action. With his body turning, and his arms moving up and down, the male's slashes flew true.

Five slashes with his swords were delivered nearly instantaneously, with the markings biting deep into the mock flesh of the dummy. Quick to move once again, his hands placed the weapons back into the sheaths at his side. Standing up straight again, his eyes diverted back to what he had seen. Instead of seeing the black clad, green-eyed figure, he saw the dummy. Sighing gently, and closing his eyes, before shaking his head, Henrex felt a small sense of relief come from him. With his body turning towards Tsubasa, and his hands clasping one another behind his back, he awaited what the Pale Rider would say.

Tsubasa watched with something that few others had. His scarlet eyes watching the muscle movement. He could see every ounce of strength and speed in the movement. The flow was good meaning potentially he had a chance. Tsubasa's orbs followed the movement predicting the strike movement. The amount of power he would see from the blow and how it worked. The pattern wasn't bad and it did hold a good vibe to it. Assassins often used techniques like this so he guessed it came from that. Tsubasa was able to tell training types by appearance and had a solid mind. While this wasn't always practical or useful to everyone. He could tell where shortcomings were by that. But for the most part, his vision Henrex had passed the test. It was time to see how Henrex fought and see what he had. Tsubasa's scarlet eyes looked over to the other two pieces of training. They would wait for a moment he needed to see Henrex in action. He couldn't give him a proper training without that. "Alright, we can begin in earnest now.Attack me as if trying to kill me..also nice quote, I enjoy Musashi." He said finally as he'd remained still waiting.

Tsubasa's eyes stared at Henrex's now as noted they were different. Something about the males eyes were different from normal ones. Though maybe it was just a strange feeling he had. Tsubasa needed to figure out where Henrex was at in several things. The attack pattern before had been good. Tsubasa made no attempt to draw a weapon or anything. He intended to fight as he was with his hands. There wasn't a need for him to bring out his zanpakuto. One thing Henrex would notice that no openings were present on Tsubasa. Everything if he had good instincts gave off an air of being fatal. Tsubasa didn't have traditional openings. He watched everything moving from Henrex's frame several times. He didn't plan on taking anything overly serious in this. He needed to see what Henrex needed to work on most. He suspected a couple things. But for now, it was better to confirm them.

Tsubasa's meticulous nature made him excellent for this sort of thing. He instructed Henrex to come at him as though trying to kill him. He didn't care if Shiki was released or whatever. This was a test for Tsubasa mostly to see what was what. It was like taking a peek at a motor and seeing what was running it. Tsubasa didn't know what sort of strategy the boy would use. He knew ninja training would make him well aware. That Tsubasa gave no openings due to his training and seemed like a walking killing machine. Tsubasa had an air of a man who'd fought in battles and war. It wasn't anything that one hadn't expected from a former Captain Commander. Tsubasa had led the Gotei before and helped them go into a new horizon. Someplace they'd never been before. He didn't know exactly what Henrex knew about him. But some things weren't exactly recorded perfectly. Tsubasa's sacrifice for the Gotei to survive to the Soul King. It was the one thing he'd never wanted to do.

Become some Guard to a figure who didn't care about those here. That had been something of a tough pill to swallow. But the past was in that place for it was such. The past was something they couldn't do anything about."I can do nothing about yesterday, but everything about tomorrow and today." He said calmly as he looked at Henrex. That quote was Tsubasa's personal one that he'd written. In his books that he'd published in the way of the sword. Understanding how swordplay and personality came together. Everything was about understanding this line most. Tsubasa was one who had the past as bloody as the previous Captains. He would have been a good fit for the first generation of Captains. In sheer power and strength, he almost seemed like a beast from a bygone era. Tsubasa knew something had to give in this situation. The balance was out of order presently and this didn't work. Tsubasa's eyes of scarlet waited for the moment or change. He would detect the slightest change in anything instantly.

EMBRACE THE DARK

Artist: KY0UMI - Song: Unravel - Word Count: 1,076

As the eyes of Henrex rotated and spun around slowly within the sockets, one of his eyes examining the strikes that he had made in the dummy, he found himself replaying the situation over and over inside his head, thinking of thousands of ways to approach that differently. It was a bit strange for him to question himself and reassess something that was already done and over with, but yet here it was. Narrowing his eyes gently, his head soon turned to Tsubasa to fully pay attention to what he was now saying.

As he did, he could feel the other man staring at his eyes. The notion wasn't threatening, but more of analyzing what they were, and quite possibly what they could do. But currently, only Henrex and Mirja knew at least a part of what they did. But, Tsubasa Unabara would make that small group of two into three. While no words came from his mouth, he knew by his posture and his gaze that he was inviting Henrex to attack him. Taking a deep breath once again, his eyes closed, before opening. He knew that he most likely would not end up doing anything of major damage towards the Pale Rider, but he knew that it would at least do something.

So, with his hands hovering over his sword, his knee bent forward, and soon his entire body shot forward, disappearing in a fraction of second, appearing inches away from Tsubasa, with both of his swords drawn once again. His eyes immediately began to dart around, scanning for movements from the man, while his swords flew through the air, aiming to hit the various targets on the body. But, after around five to seven slashes from his weapons were made, he would pull back, throwing his arms up into the air and releasing the grip on his swords.

As the weapons went from soaring upwards, to stuck in the air, Henrex's hands went to work with more of his skills as a ninja. His hands collided, weaving three hand signs that would both be based off not only Japan's kuji-in signs, as well as chinese zodiac signs. To begin the casting of the ninja magic, Henrex had used Pyo, which allowed a much more fine channeling of energy throughout the body. As of such, the second hand sign that he weaved would be that which would be necessary to create a large orb of purple and black lightning in Henrex's right hand.

However, the third would be something a bit more inconspicuous, with the third sign not doing anything that would change what had just taken place. So, with these three actions done, Henrex's hand would soon be filled with the purple and black orb of lightning, before clasping his hands together, and causing the lightning to travel as purple rings across his arms. As this happened, his swords would drop down from their suspended state in the air, landing in Henrex's hands. Kicking forward towards Tsubasa, he was currently holding nothing back.

Slashing multiple times with the katana, before bringing down with a final overhead strike with the wakazashi, he quickly was able to adjust his body to hopefully keep the pressure on the male, disappearing once again through the usage of Flash Step, his movements carrying him behind the man. As this were to occur, the electrical rings that were on his arms would stream off of the arms, and onto the blades of his weapons. As this was happening, Henrex's eyes would flick down towards the blades, widening slightly. As he did this, the two weapons would not only be covered in purple electricity, but would then erupt with black flames.

Normally, fire on metal would mean that the metal in question would simply melt into a puddle of silver liquid. But, with the fires that Henrex had created, as well as the hand sign that he had made earlier, this would not be the case. Instead of melting the weapon, it would simply cling to the weapon like snow would to an obstruction during the winter. So, with these two "effects" now present on his swords, it would make his swords be very dangerous to even so much as touch. But, the aggressive assault would not stop there. Combining his martial arts with his swordplay, he would easily be able to mix in his slashes with quick, but strong kicks to various places on Tsubasa.

But, there would be one thing that Henrex would do. He knew what he had meant when he had said to himself that Tsubasa would be the third to see what he was about to unleash. With his red and black right eye sliding in the socket, and setting itself on Tsubasa, his eye would widen slightly once again, before glinting with a flash of crimson. Blood would sluggishly drip down the edge of his eye upon the usage of this ability once again, which caused his eye to wince slightly. As that glint shimmered in the light of the room, pitch black flames would begin to burst to life on Tsubasa's body, and attempt to burn through everything that it made contact with.

But, as this were to happen, the flames would quickly extinguish as Henrex's eyes slammed shut. Quiet grunts of pain came from him as he fought to keep himself from faltering. He had forgotten how much pain that he put himself through when it came to using this excessively. Shaking his head and lunging forward, his eyes opening again, now with his swords only sparking with the electricity that shimmered and traveled on the blades of his weapons, he would continue to slash at Tsubasa, before forcing himself to retreat, sheathing his swords and dispelling the electrical rings.

With his hand shooting up to cover his right eye, hiding the blood from Tsubasa's sight, his head slowly rose, facing the golden-haired man once again. With his display now over, he lowered his hand, revealing the smeared red under his right eye, before forcing his breathing to slow. He wasn't entirely exhausted, but he knew that he would either need the energy to continue, or would end up killing himself with overuse of that fire ability. It somewhat surprised him that he had not come up with names for those. It would probably be something that would come in time. But, now was not the time to be concerning himself with that.

There were more important matters than creating names.

Tsubasa's eyes took every single detail of the landscape known as Henrex. Everything was interesting and keenly worth noticing in his mind. His eyes slowly stared at every section as those knees began to bend. His eyes watched the pivot noticing it was quite slow. Tsubasa avoided the blow entirely using a speed that he doubted Henrex could follow. The ninja was certainly slow, he took his time to watch those strikes. There was a fear in them something scared him. Fear was an enemy for people fighting out of fear brought no victory. It cost more battles than it had ever won. Softly sighing he tapped Henrex on his back with a small voltage hit. This was enough to send the male bouncing a couple meters away. Tsubasa's eyes looked at him. He could easily see what was going on as the second that eye changed. The slightest alteration in color was caught in his intense focus. Tsubasa could smell the beginning of something there. Those were interesting and perhaps part of his fear. Henrex was a fascinating Shinobi, slow and frightened.

The past like that was something that few people knew. Tsubasa reflected on what fear would have done. Would the Pale Rider of been born if he'd been this scared. Would a legend of the sword been brought about had Musashi been frightened? The fear he sensed it so much he could taste it in the air. The boy could hide it from everyone else who didn't know it. Fear was a thing Tsubasa was familiar with more than anything else. He watched as the swords went up doing a quick calculation on their time of landing. Tsubasa took in the details of each thing as the male prepared himself. Flames as well on that blade combined with electricity. It seemed he'd not noticed it when Tsubasa stroke him previously. It was an interesting technique indeed, Tsubasa's eyes saw the wiping away of blood. So it was a double edged sword at the moment. He could smell the blood in the air it was a familiar smell. One he'd been around since his youth almost calming.

His crimson eyes began to bury themselves within Henrex. Everything here was open to gaining. Nothing to burden himself with at his current level of skill. What was he frightened of, was it power or something beyond that? Fear doesn't own the man, the man must own his fear. That was the rule that he lived by as he rebuilt the Unabara. Beginning to train and prepare the attendants among other things. Henrex was going to learn how to lead and fight. Tsubasa would teach him the true way of the warrior. This needed to stop however first so they could truly begin. Tsubasa had already proved his speed to Henrex. He went a bit faster this time. Leaving behind something for Henrex to hit as his hand was put next to the male's neck. Sparks of electricity surging around his hand. "That's good, you've got some things to work on, though. A man who cannot progress goes nowhere in this world. I'm going to give you a gift." Tsubasa's index and middle fingers tapped the side of Henrex's shoulder.

Instead of lightning, a Cardinal Seal burned itself into Henrex's being. He wasn't asked though he guessed he could use this down the road. The pain would be immense for the Shinobi. "I just gave you the Cardinal Seal, it's a mark given to our retainers..It should be useful to you down the road." He said calmly as he simply walked back to his regular position. So fear was the issue, it meant he would have to use training methods eight and nine. Those two were very draining though so he suspected Henrex wouldn't go beyond that. "Follow me, when you fight I sense fear. You're frightened of something behind the veil of things. It's alright to be scared, but what makes the difference is the courage you have to the fear." Tsubasa said softly as he walked into a purple globe like thing. It was a bubble of sorts that did something else. As Henrex walked in he would be struck by his fears. They would weigh down on him like eighty-ton chains.

"This is the Gravity World, I made it let people battle their greatest problems. Fear, Doubt, Pride, Arrogance, or whatever burdened the soul." He said as he stood without an effect on him. Tsubasa's frame remained unmoved as he wasn't phased by the weight. It was a weight that Captain's bore when they lead a Division. Those Haori weren't light and required something special to wear them. He pointed it out but a small white light was on the bubble with them. This was a mental battle for Henrex from here on. "Catch it if you can, you'll find that fear weighs you down. Doubt and struggle are something that all must face. This world is a cruel thing at times and we must do the hard thing over the easy." He said giving Henrex advice as they continued. It wasn't a matter of opinion if Tsubasa was right or not. He gave his points of view on things when he trained people. What he could sense and that instant fear to wipe away the blood. There wasn't a point in that truly since he could smell it.

"What is your ambition Henrex?" He said leaving that question for him to ponder as he remained silent and observed now. Trial number eight out of the sixteen holy trials Tsubasa devised. They were made to make the perfect warrior. Tsubasa hadn't subjected his children to them once upon a time. But now it was entirely their choice to take on these life threatening courses. Training from an Unabara was something few people got. Training from Tsubasa alone was as close to training with Yamamoto you could get. Some pointed out the similar nature of the two. Tsubasa didn't have quite the skills the old man did. Or the record that seemed etched in history. He had to build his own path and find his own way. Khala was right about that much it seemed. He didn't know how Henrex would respond to these things. What fears shackled this boy were his demons. He would need to battle them here in order to proceed. Burdens were what made the person stronger in the end.

It would be interesting to see just how far Henrex could go.

EMBRACE THE DARK

Artist: Eurielle - Song: Carry Me - Word Count: 1,200

It wasn't entirely surprising with the events that happened next. Henrex knew that he and Tsubasa were leagues apart, as were their skills. He could tell that he was being analyzed, to an even better and larger extent than his own eyes could. The thought was slightly unnerving to know that every bit of what he was doing was being analyzed, but it was something that he was very able to accept. After all, to learn, one must watch and observe.

Blood continued to creep down the sides of Henrex's eyes, falling from his face and splattering on the floor. But, he payed no attention to that. His mind was focused on the golden-haired Unabara that he was attacking. As his attacks finalized, his mind and eyes finally were able to register that Tsubasa was not there. A gentle sigh came from behind, and voltage shot through his body, causing a multitude of things to happen. One of which was the immediate travel that his body went under, the aftereffects of the shock sending him multiple meters away, as well as causing him to fall to his knees, his nervous system unable to be felt.

As the last remainders of the electricity caused his body to continuously jolt and spasm at random intervals, Henrex eventually found himself able to at the very least sit up. Panting quietly from the excursion that his body had just went through, his head bowed to the floor slowly, trying to get himself to recover from something like that. However, as he felt the scarlet gaze of Tsubasa boring into his back, a shiver went down his spine as his mind soon came to terms that he would most likely not be gaining any time to recover any time soon.

As Tsubasa tapped his shoulder, and spoke about it being good that he had more to work on, he was about to respond when his entire body was met with hellish pain. His eyes shot open, the veins traveling across in various patterns towards the iris, and he collapsed to the ground once again, gritting his teeth to keep himself from making any noise. His head fell to the floor, slamming against the ground as the pain finally subsided. Calming stating what he had just given him, and that is would be useful to him down the road, before walking back to where he had been before.

Standing up shakily, and sending his energy throughout his body to restore the feeling back into his body. As the man instructed him to follow, Henrex obeyed, following Tsubasa into a strange purple orb that hung suspended a small distance from the ground. But, form the moment that he stepped inside, he would instantly regret that decision. An immense wave of gravity forced him to his knees, and the problems of man crawled up his spine.

His eyes widened and rotated around in the sockets, his mind swamped with these thoughts. Lifting his head to face the man, his eyes widened as his twin orbs settled on the shimmering light that hung above his head. One of his arms reached up above his head, in an attempt to grab it, but soon fell. He could feel the main thing that was crawling up and down his spine. It was fear. The fear of the power that his eyes currently possessed. Shivers rattled his body as his mind brought itself back to that subject over and over again. That was what was keeping him held down, and keeping him from progressing.

His eyes spun rapidly in circles as he fought to try and overcome these feelings. His head forced itself upwards to try and stare at the light, and his head remained there for a short time, before falling once again. His eyes flicked upwards when Tsubasa began to ask him what his ambition was. To him, that was something that dug deep into his mind. His ambition? What was he striving to do? What was the one thing that was keeping him going? Well, it was simple.

He wanted to perfect his eyes. These eyes were what he was trying to perfect and hone, but -- he was held down by his fear of the very same thing. He was terrified of what would happen if he overused his eyes. He already knew that they would begin to bleed if he used them in general, and horrendous amounts of pain would be sent flaring into his system if he overused it. But, he knew that if he didn't push himself to do such, he would never be able to perfect his eyes, and possibly not even progress anymore.

So, as the time began to pass, and his body began to break from the strain of gravity pushing against him. As he felt his spine starting to make loud creaking noises, before a sickening snap let out, causing Henrex to entirely collapse, his body entering a momentarily state of paralysis. But, with his regeneration, that was not a problem for long. With his spine quickly repairing itself, he was easily able to move once again. As blood shot up his throat, causing him to spit a small bit of blood out, before forcibly pushing himself up.

It was then that he cast off the shell.

His right eye immediately began to backtrack in it's shape, eventually dimming down to what his eyes had been before all of the events of the past: pitch black. As this happened, Henrex could feel the strain that had been on his eyes had disappeared. And as a result of this, he could feel himself being less and less afraid of his eyes. With his head lifting, and his body feeling less weighted, his fingers reached out towards the shining light that dangled so closely above him.

"My...ambition? To perfect these new eyes of mine, and to reap what I've sowed."

As these words were to be said, there would be two things that would happen as a result of this new resolve forming in the mind of the half-breed. His two black eyes would begin to shift and change, spinning to life, passing through the stages of his new eyes. Three tomoe branched off, and the iris glowed red, before his eyes would close, and then open again to reveal the final stage of this dojutsu, or eye techniques.

That would be the first thing that would come into fruition with this. The second? That would be the massive creature that would emerge and form itself around Henrex. Hunched over to fit in the somewhat small space, the head of this creature would be just above Henrex's head. But, this was only a fraction of it's true size. If it were to be in it's true size, it would most likely have ended up breaking the roof of the Home of the Unabara.

Alas, this creature would not last long. With a good portion of Henrex's energy drained, both physically and spiritually, as well as his focus not being on that creature, it would slowly begin to dissipate, before fading into nothing. With his now matching eyes burning their gaze into Tsubasa's crimson ones, he once again awaited what would be done next.
