Reasoning: Kristya has been part of other iterations of the Gotei in the past, and would have stayed through the various reformations. Reasoning: Shuten would be joining this division for many reasons; the first, and most obvious, would be to protect the Soul Society and all that it stands for; also protecting the Soul King from the dangers of those who may want to kill him for some damn reason. However, her other reasons for joining would be for her family, wanting to help them how she can without obstructing the traditional Suika life; it is tradition, she would not mess with it. And, once more, she simply wishes to protect her friends, family, and Shinigami as a whole.
