THE INSANE RAVEN'S POST
Artist: KY0UMI - Song: Above Your Hand - Word Count: 1,108
The journey of inner peace was long, arduous, and taxing. It was something that monks sought after for years, in an attempt to become closer to enlightenment. Henrex had to give them credit for the amount of dedication that they had for such a task. It wasn't easy, and he was quickly coming to realize that. As his mind continued to drift in the endless darkness of the recesses of himself, he found his body becoming more in tune with the world around him. Through this, Henrex's other senses were able to heighten from the sudden deactivation of his sight. The sounds of footsteps leading away, then back towards him rung out in his ears.
They were the most prominent thing that he was currently hearing from the Wolf girl that was currently watching over him. He felt somewhat unnerved by her staring, but he knew that he had to blot it out. The lessons taught by the teachers at the Niten Ichi Ryu came flowing back into his mind. Fudoshin, Zanshin, Mushin, all of it was coming back now. Not only the mental teachings, but also the core hand seals that he learned in the Iga mountains. A spark of hope shimmered in his chest, sending waves of determination throughout his body. But, it soon faded, leaving him with the cold embrace of -- nothingness.
This was emptiness.
This was not peace.
With his eyebrows furrowing roughly, his posture would subtly be changed. From a half lotus, to a full lotus, his hands would now be folded in his lap. Lowering his head slightly, his hands slowly began to interlock, before his fingers would form a hand sign, and his lips would whisper the words to the mantra of To, and the encompassing of harmony was quick to act, sending the emotion flowing powerfully into his nerves.
This was a start.
Inhaling and exhaling quietly, he could soon feel the boring silver gaze of Mirja being firmly planted against his body. The feeling wasn't exactly the greatest, with someone as...potent as Mirja -- in terms of strength -- boring what felt like a hate-filled glare. There was obviously something on her mind. His hands quickly made another hand sign, before whispering once again, the words to the mantra for the kuji-in seal simply known as "Jin". Some said that it meant "Truth" in some ancient language, but it did do one thing, and it did it good.
It revealed the truth. While it didn't spill the beans on what Mirja was thinking, it did let Henrex be able to somewhat feel the emotional state that she was in. As his body became hit with a wave of multiple different emotions, his perception was able to quickly tell what emotion she was feeling with the death glare. Conflict, irritation, and impatience. The impatience was easy enough to understand. Her recent wanting to go fast was something that left one who was addicted to such with a very large lack of patience when they were to be deprived of such.
The irritation was something that had most likely stemmed off of that, since the emotion itself was a byproduct of impatience. It was the conflict that confused him. But, as he realized that he was accidentally distracting himself from the goal. Shoving those thoughts out of his mind, and allowing the effects of the ninja magic of Jin to dissipate, his mind began to float in the sea of black once again. Days of the old played within his head, his lips forming into another half-smile at the pleasant memories' appearance in him.
He felt as if he was reliving the past. The days of which he was a real, prestigious samurai that sought to serve his daimyo, Takatomi Hideka. The days of which he held a sword...
That was where he found himself at true peace. The times he held a sword, and used it. Those times were the moments where the world around him seemed to slow down to allow him to stay in those moments of serene grace as long as time could allow it. The half smile grew, and extended to the ends of his cheeks, and his arm reached outward, as if he were to take the first swords of Masamoto once again. His fingers wrapped around the hilt, the smooth cloth that was wrapped around the fine hilt.
And then he remembered what Mirja had said. He had to let go what clung him to this world. He had to let go of his swordsmanship? The samurai blood within him screamed at him not to do it. The sword was the soul, for a samurai. Would it mean that he had to let go the samurai part of him, and accept that he was a ninja? Was that part of this? It didn't feel like it. It just felt like he had to leave what held him, then forcibly bring it back to him. So, he did just that. The hand that gripped so tightly on the weapon softly loosened it's grip.
And then it was gone.
The moment that his hand released the sword, it was gone. Blackness surrounded him once more. But, it didn't hurt to release it. In fact...it felt as if it was needed. It felt as if a great burden had been lifted from his shoulders. He was no longer held down by the chains that had kept him bound to the world. But, there was still something that he had to do. As Mirja had said, he had to "force his free energy back into him". As he floated in the blackness, he could feel that freedom around him. He could probably even reach out and touch it.
And he did. His body and soul branched outward, and he could feel himself filling with what Mirja had referred to as "the free energy". His mind was entirely focused around his swordsmanship. His body was filled with not only that, but the thing that he had been working for this entire time.
Peace.
His eyes slowly began to open, with his gaze turning to his hand. Empty. A tinge of sadness crept up his chest, but he shoved it back down. As he did, he could hear a voice chiming in with a tone that could only be described as being filled with disappointment.
The hell are you doing? I thought I told you to kill your emotions. Even that pathetic kindness of yours. Lock. It. Away. All it's done is bring you misery. There's no point to it.
Henrex didn't even bother responding. Instead, his eyes opened fully, and he looked at Mirja in the eye.
"I believe that I've found inner peace. What's next?"
