ENTER THE DEPTHS

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A - Word Count: 1901

What brought him to this place so far from the world of the Shinigami's Rukongai and Seireitei? Well, something left from the war that wound hinder the progress of the Vandenreich. Something that was his responsibility was needing handling. Sterben the son of Yhwach was still out here after all in a deep stasis perhaps dead even. It was a question or perhaps his duty to handle this matter with the utmost care. The situation here was a peace between the Soul Society and Vandenreich was an uneasy thing he imagined. No one knew about Sterben's location anymore. Not even the new leader was aware of his existence. Only Strategist and Hulderic were entirely aware of Yhwach's sick desire. The desire to create a weapon capable of wiping out entire Shinigami cities and places without effort. He did find something with Sterben that much was true as Ghislain walked towards it. Did he harden his heart and kill the child? Was that the answer to this to finally end Yhwach's wretched bloodline? His fingers softly along his pendant.

His fingers slowly released the pendant and his eyes drifted to a mountain structure that seemed rather large. Remembering this nightmare like the location wasn't hard. The battlefield's climax was met here as he recalled. Radioactive was unleashed around this area and slaughtered so many of them. War wasn't really a good word for what happened here it was a foolish choice that leads to annihilation. His hand waved across the air as the reishi around the mountain shattered on a certain piece. Sitting in a carbonite stone like stasis was a boy's body. Long dark hair and closed eyes his slender frame almost seemed lithe. His eyes stared at the boy stuck in the gemstone like substance. He just stared at the boy sleeping remembering that moment when the choice was made. When it was decided he couldn't be controlled and perhaps would kill even the Quincy. They created a destroyer instead of a savior, that was a crime as he sighed softly. Did he have the right to rob this child of a life?

That was something to think about as well if he woke the child up. What would come of that, would it be anger against those who imprisoned him? He had no sway over the child any longer. The blood of the Emperor was taken from the Quincy around the world. No longer could they be connected to him. But with Sterben that carried risks beyond what one could comprehend. Anti-Matter was the boy's power and it was an extremely dangerous power. He'd watched the boy killed his creators and destroy the moment he came too. Controlling him was impossible, he was impulsive and destructive. But was that his choice as the child of him? Did he really have that right to end a life? Ghislain who tried so hard to not stain his hands with blood. He sat down on a rock as he stared at the child now. the ominous power drifting out seemed to feel nearly demonic. This child was unsettling even asleep as he felt chills on his shoulders and neck. Slowly he brought a pocket watch from his coat and opened it. Glancing down at the photo of his wife and their son.

This didn't make choices easier but it helped him concentrate and think on the situation. Ghislain's family line still was around within Germany. He was a legendary figure among them who helped set their business up. Closing the locked up he sighed standing up as a small tear trailed down his cheek. "I'm sorry Sterben, you were born as a berserker and given no choice. You didn't get to decide to be a doctor or a lawyer. You weren't given a happy childhood or a chance to be a kid. I don't know what else I can do here..if you awaken and fracture this peace that she is trying so hard for..when I could have done something..I can't forgive myself for that.." He raised his hand up slowly as he lowered it as reishi surged to it. To destroy the boy or not was a question that couldn't be answered in a singluar moment. Sterben wouldn't see reason when he woke he knew it. His bloodlust would require a sacrifice to sate it.

Maybe as a last act of kindness, he could tell Sterben before his choice what became of their race. What destiny awaited the father who betrayed him and so much more.

THE INSANE RAVEN

HENREX ASTILLON

| Artist: Natalie Wik | Song: Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of Screams) | Word Count: 625 |

So desolate....so....quiet....

These lands were left with nothing. The so very desolate lands of his home were blank and empty, as the name claimed them to be. The Outlands. The lands outside the Soul Society. Or, as he referred to them as, the Forgotten Lands. The abandoned lands. It was cold. Then again, wasn't it always with such icy skin that left him always chilled to the very bone? A quiet sigh left the male as he stepped through these plains of sand. Far from the Rukongai, the Seireitei, anywhere in the Soul Society. His eye scanned over the endless space that covered everything around him. In front, behind, to the left, and the right.

Closing for only mere seconds, he slowly opened the eye, age and conflict staining the vision of the other eye that he was able to see out of. Why....was he out here? He had woken from bed, and remained in the pitch black room, before coming out to these lands...for no real reason. That nothingness seemed to have drove him onward to find a reason. And...he was about to receive one. The spiritual pressure that surrounded his body was that of a Quincy. The aura of the Shinigami's enemy was strong, and it was headed somewhere. Somewhere with someone equally as powerful.

His foot moved forward, bringing the rest of his body with him. Why was a Quincy here? Well....it was time to find out. Closing his eye, he allowed his body to move faster than it normally did. His body vanished in an instant. Remaining in this state for several minutes, his speed would be found to be immense while he remained in the midst of in the Flash Step state. Speeding across the sands, he found himself closing the gap between himself and the Quincy. Gaining the amount of space between them so that he could see them, the male could tell one thing. They were not here in regards to the Shinigami.

If he was, then he would not be so far away from their home. His eye closed once again, and his spiritual power lowered itself, silencing the ravage, nigh uncontrollable energy that surged throughout his body, creating the aura that would normally cover the land with his cold spiritual pressure. Closing the final lengths of the gap between him and the other male, his body would exit the Flash Step state, leaving him revealed for eyes to see. The single dull eye of the male would stare at the Quincy, who seemed to be...apologizing. Taking silent steps to look over his shoulder, and see what he was looking at, the male's eye narrowed, before closing.

"....."

Sighing gently, he circled the man over and over again. Simply by staring into his eyes he could see the conflict and pain that was residing in him. This person must have meant a lot to this Quincy. This decision that he was contemplating....it was a life-changing decision for him. His eye twitched slightly as the small sound of giggling in the recesses of his mind echoed out. and he could see it. Even with his eye open, he could see...him. The other part of his mind that he never wanted to let free. His alternate persona. Closing his eye, he saw the male sitting down in the blackness, white hood covering the raven locks that draped down his face. His head bowed towards the ground, which soon rose. The crimson red eyes held a disturbed gaze to the original.

"Fufufu...."

More giggling came from him, before fading entirely. Shaking his head gently, the male soon drifted around the body of the male one final time, before stopping at his side, tilting his head to the right, his eye locked onto the head of the Quincy.

"....Care....to explain...?"

Drip . . . Drip . . .Drip . . BOOOM. . Rumble.

The sound of thunder pealed overhead, even as the rain inevitably began to fall out here in the midst of nowhere in the soul society. Two people already had been present, and slowly a girl seemed to walk from the gloom that had descended because of this freak storm system. It was like she had been born from the shadows cast by the repeated arcs of lightning that arced from one cloud to the next. Yet, her arrival wouldn’t be noticed most likely for now; the reason being? She didn’t exude even the faintest trace of energy, instead it seemed as if this red-haired cat-eared girl, was bathed in a soft golden glow that surrounded her being. Eventually the girl stopped, rain somehow being unable to hit her body. She gazed and watched the situation in front of her and she thought back to her own family. The Asthavon family, which she had abandoned and severed ties with in her own quest for a place of belonging. She who had been cast adrift knew the sorrow in forsaking the one thing that was held most dear. Blood.

Blood was the tie that could never truly be washed clean, it would always be with you until death. There were few callings higher than the call to blood. Be it acts of great love, or acts of great malice, when born from blood ties they could be raised to levels unfathomable. As the young demoness took her first step forward she exhaled and in moments her bodice vanished. Moving at great speed she had managed to appear as if an apparition born from the air itself. Landing with a light ripple, somehow floating on the thin layer of water that separated her from the ground, the girl had gently laid her palm on the underside of Ghislains. Sure, she hadn’t the slightest notion of what he was about to do, however. From the way he looked, she could easily guess whatever it may be wasn’t beneficial to the young boy before them. So even though her touch as feather-light, it would be puzzling. Even when she exuded no power, her grip was undeniably firm.

Underneath her supple skin there was a moderate strength beneath it. Sure, it wasn’t as strong as most supernatural beings; however it was still strong enough to give the slightest amount of resistance while she said in the softest of tones to them male.

”..I may not know, what ails your heart. However, if you make a decision rashly you may come to regret it in the future. “

Her young appearance did not fit the gentle yet understanding words she spoke to the blond haired male. Sure, she herself was young, but she held the fragmented knowledge of both heroes and her mother within her. Such knowledge was undoubtedly vast, as the legacy of the gilded hero, gilgamesh her power wasn’t slight either. But at the moment it couldn’t be gauged, and her energy conflicted with itself because she was not a pure demon, even if her power naturally read in that manner. Eventually her red eyes shifted and glanced at the male who seemed to be floating around next to them. Her smile was the picture of demure cordiality, her words held a musical clarity to them as she spoke.

”..Greetings both of you, what are you doing way out here in the midst of nowhere?”

Her words held honest curiosity, after all it was strange to find people out here in the middle of nowhere. Especially in the midst of the storm-system that blew through. For now though her eyes sharpened taking in Henrex’s madness, it was a similar flavor. Something she knew very well from her mother. Inami Asthavon. It brought back unpleasant memories to the girl, but she continued to treat henrex in a kind way as would be expected from a member of k-world.

ENTER THE DEPTHS

Artist: N/A - Song: N/A - Word Count: 1901

"Suppose a witness or two isn't a bad thing.." He said calmly not entirely surprised that a Shinigami came to him. Figuring out what the being was with a single glance of his cerulean eyes. The young man requested to know what this being was that Ghislain at before. And a Demon appeared along with him, something unexpected in these parts. He smiled softly as he pointed his hand off to the right of him as rocks rose and formed a pair of seats. He was manipulating the reishi of this world with ease "Take a seat, I'll explain who sits before us." He said softly as he kept his gaze pinned to the sleeping form of Sterben. The one who never would wake from his eternal slumber if Ghislain made that choice today. The choice to take away the life of an innocent child. But was innocence really the right term for this bloodthirsty berserker? The one who Yhwach created to destroy the Soul Society and all of his enemies? "Sterben Reinhard, son of Yhwach the one designed by him to be a bloodthirsty butcher. He has been locked away here since the end days of the war as a failed experiment."

He sighed staring at the sleeping child who'd not aged a day. Something Yhwach did no doubt as he wanted the weapon to be eternal like himself. "The Emperor was a mad man during those final days leading up to the extermination, so he decided to create a child capable of unleashing world-ending powers. But Icarus flew too close to the sun and came crashing down. " He said quoting the tale of the deity who flew too close to the sun with his wings of wax."Upon awaking, he will unleash destruction and death upon these lands and kill without end..I've come to make sure the peace the Vandenreich seeks isn't disturbed by him." It wasn't a fear that Ghislain felt for the child as his own power was rather considerable at this point. Among Quincy, he was an extremely powerful figure as the Third Emperor. But that didn't change the danger that Sterben posed to things. A future was on the horizon for the Quincy and Shinigami this was a poison

Explaining the story of Sterben was a good thing as the child wouldn't be forgotten as he closed his eyes for a moment. "This state won't last forever and someday someone may release him for evil purposes...So I am here to say goodbye to the last piece of Yhwach." He didn't feel much of a tremble as he blinked for a moment. "Ah, right I promised to tell you before we depart company what happened Sterben. We lost the War, our people were slaughtered into almost extinction. Hulderic betrayed your father and killed him while his guard was lowered. Hulderic became the Second Emperor. After which he confined our people in large number within the Void. I brought them back and our people are heading towards peace with the Shinigami finally." He slowly rose from his seat as the entire place began to tremble as his spiritual pressure was unleashed he sighed softly walking towards Sterben a bit closer. Hardening his heart for the actions that must be done for the future peace.

Imprisonment was an option he guessed but it was a poor choice for the child. So death was his answer as he stopped and pulled the watch out. "Sterben, me and Elizabeth ended up getting married we had our little Draco. She died some time ago of old age, same with my son. Their stars are in the sky still watching for me to do what is right." He'd had a son and named him after his precious younger brother to carry on the name. His mind reflected back on the words she spoke about the pain of a rash choice. "Introductions are in order, I am Ghislain Eberhart. The last Emperor of the Quincy..Or I was, now I am more of a wandering Quincy trying to do one last thing."

His mind reflected on the demon's appearance she and the shinigami were they a sign for him to not destroy the boy. His power went down as he closed the pocket watch once more putting it away. He could destroy Sterben with relative ease that wasn't the problem it was the moral issue. Ghislain liked killing unless he had absolutely no other choice. And in this one instance, he was being backed into a corner by a child asleep. The situation was terrible and he'd not been able to handle it. Had Yhwach foreseen that he would do this, was that the reason behind his imprisonment? This situation was a microcosm of problems and falsehoods that lead to a singular issue. Was this boy to die for being so dangerous he could upset this realm? Could someone potentially awaken Sterben and use him for a renewed war on Soul Society? That was the most likely outcome thus his arrival here. This was a situation where hesitation could mean many things and that just wasn't an option. "Now you two know the secret passed down the Emperor, the child hidden within the past waiting to destroy this place. He cannot be reasoned with, nor can he understand anything we say."

He said pausing as his eyes of cerulean turned from Sterben to finally look at both of them. "Project Sterben, the poor thing doesn't even have a name of his own. Sterben Reinhard, Reinhard was the title given. Sterben the Project of his origin means to die or to kill. Yhwach touched his soul and poisoned him with nothing but rage and bloodlust. If I were to wake him now he would simply attack us without reason or remorse. He killed sixteen people when he was first awoken." He said recounting the creation of the boy to them as he looked at them both. "Even tried to kill his own father, thus his present condition..this seal wasn't ever meant to last forever and it won't. We'd planned to come back for him someday to fix things. But I can no longer control him and fix what has been done. This is the price that was paid for the Quincy to be free of the Emperor." This was very much the truth to cut all Quincy off this included Sterben. That was the only way to control him at this point.

He decided to let them take in what had been explained to them, allow them to finally see what he'd been preparing for sometime. This was the choice of the Vandenreich, they did not know the outcome of being cut off. But for every choice their are consequences and this was theirs.
