Crossroads Of Fate. [Animum/Mirja/Open ]

Sometimes the world is beautiful, And sometimes it is cold. That was what Animum thought her golden gaze shifting to glance upwards through the canopy that shaded her from the skies harsh glare. Locks of blond hair falling in waves across her shoulders and her chest, the zaimichi seemed to exude a type of sorrow merely from her posture, slightly slumped shoulders, a posture that while not quite a slouch wasn’t ramrod straight as you might see from someone who was proud. All around her she could hear the sounds of wildlife, what ever kind existed in the realm of the soul society. Be it birds or bunnies, or possibly even the small rodents that scurried across the ground she had been able to hear them, her eyesight being able to pick out the slight difference in color from the light that filtered from above, a light that she continued to gaze into, almost as if she was searching from something in the blinding multi-hued light. Like if she just looked hard enough the secrets she sought might be laid out before her in their entirety. Eventually her eyes would shift, blinking back the tears that would never come her gaze inevitably drifting towards the ground. Her lips parted as she said softly.
’..What am i even doing.”
Her lips curled till they suggested the hint of a smile, upturned but not quite fully reaching her cheeks. Head shaking from one side to the other subtly before she had turned and the slight gleam of mischief in her eyes faded until all that was left was flat, like an unpolished gold. She wondered what she would do next, what road to take, something that made her feel a deep unease in her gut. Something that quite honestly, she didn’t want to consider. It was something she couldn’t think of and just stay still, as such she walked forward her feet eventually moving her in a circular pattern across the glen. The steep ridges that had been dotted with tree’s surrounding her as if they stood watch over her. Distrust and confusion tainted her mind partially, even when for the most part she was thinking logically rather than emotionally. Every time she had tried to do something better with her life, it had always ended in failure. She didn’t really mind it all that much anymore, it was an old ache that she had become accustomed to. Second thought really she just brushed the twinge away in her heart to leave the blissfulness of nothingness in it’s wake.
For her at least there was no harsh awakenings. There wasn’t really anything to make her feel anything other than she did now. ”..Yet why am i still searching for an alternative?” She thought to herself almost as if she was chiding herself for her foolishness. She should know better by now, but that didn’t seem to stop her. Like right now, even if she didn’t want it, she still was trying to think about how she would get better, how she might turn this all around. Even if it was a longshot, or potentially considered to be naive and misguided. She liked to think of a day where she could sit content under an open blue sky. Where she wouldn’t have to fight or she wouldn’t have to hurt others. Maybe she was soft for thinking of such things, but she didn’t care. She wasn’t content with who she was , so she wanted to change. . ”..But how do i do that?’ She thought to herself. As she had tried so many times to change, to be something better than what she was meant to be.
”..But is that enough?” The unbidden thought caused her to stop, her fingertips brushing against the rough bark of the tree besides her. Resting softly against it her hand splayed. She thought long and hard about if it was enough. She had been given plenty of chances, not only by others but she had given herself many chances. Yet none of them really had gone anywhere. She just had reverted each time. Not because others hurt her, but because she just simply couldn’t comprehend something better for herself, and because of that she had let every opportunity she was given turn to ash and become meaningless. Which was why , standing there she softly bit her lower lip and paused, and thought to herself. ”..It will have to be enough, as i have nothing left but this.”

Mirja, The Masterless Pet
Mirja was patrolling. And they just loved to point and laugh, that Mirja was actually still part of the Soul Society regardless of how much she had been absent over the last few whiles. She was just glad nobody knew about Arianda or that one meeting with Mana. Then there would be hell to pay, and Mirja would probably get into the kind of bondage she did not like. Thinking about Arianda made Mirja sigh softly. And it also brought Iko to the front of her mind.
'Iko no like buzz woman! She's evil. Evil like mushrooms' Iko exclaimed, clarifying her relationship with Arianda for the billion trillion, quintillion, someotherllionth time.
However, patrols put her in front of some interesting looking person. It was clearly not a hollow, Mirja could sense such, but what she was, was kind of up in the air. Possibly a Rukongai resident, but they were so rarely this far out, what with the ever-present thread of hollows and everything that surrounded this place. So, that made this beautiful girl either lost, or someone who was not afraid of hollows. Either way, Mirja's tail started to wag with enjoyment of a new person, espeically one that looked so good.
Approching her slowly, so as not to spook her, Mirja spoke up in a calm, soothing voice. Trying all she could try to not make the girl run away. Mentally giving Iko a warning to be nice as well, not like that kid that she had caused to run away in the forests of Karakura.
"Hey. Are you lost, or do you just like being in the middle of nowhere? Because, here is pretty dangerous, what with hollows and rogue shinigami and rogue demons and rogue underwear snatchers. Or a combonation of all four"

The voices that she heard had been minimal at best, laying there soaking in the sunlight was a wonderful thing especially when the world hated you, and the one place you wished to be was the one place you could never return. Her golden gaze lingered in the clouds, even now as she exhaled, sunshine had been gone for a long time. Where he was she could not say but the length of time away had allowed the constant tug of despair to dull, she had become some semblance of her own person. Without the chaos, without the destruction, despair or agony that came with being stuck with the connection that they shared, it was fraying. The markings that had been ingrained into her body as well had become duller recently, she felt less compelled to start the endless cycle of destruction and despair that she had originally been intended to meat out.
As the girl had approached her animum had seemed to study her. There was no malice in her serene gaze, but there was a sadness that glinted as she took in the uniform that mirja wore. She was a member of the gotei 13, and the sight of the uniform brought her back to a time in the memories that she possessed that was simpler. She was nonexistant but still it was simpler for her host, who had become so broken that she had decided to sacrifice everything. Eventually the girl had spoken to her and Animum simply let out an exhale and she said with a small snort.
”..Kid has anyone told you that you are a chatterbox?”
It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing of course, being a chatterbox meant that mirja was naturally enthusiastic about things. That she wished to push , prod and pry and learn about the world around her. To interact with it in an energetic way. However it also meant the girl had no off switch and was constantly jabbering away. Or atleast that was what the likes of animum got from their breif exchange thanks to her ability to deduce most things at a glance. Hence she’d just say in a soft tone that seemed more wistful than anything.
”I’m here because this is my home, even if i’m no longer welcome within it.”
It was true, even if she wasn’t the one who willingly left due to influences beyond her control, it didn’t mean that the memories that resided as residue of the host were any less powerful to the zaimichi spirit. They made her consider this place her home, a place that she could always rely and depend on. This was why she had come back, why she had left shadow fall and why more importantly she no longer associated with shadow fall. It was because only now was she able to decide what she wanted to do. Which was stare at the one place she wished to be, even if it was impossible, even if it hurt to face reality, she would face it none the less.

Mirja, The Mad Wolf
The girl was surprisingly different to her appearance. Mirja had expected some soft, wisp of a girl speaking in a nervous, or shy stutter. But, the girl in front of her was confident. How else could she call a person she has never met a chatterbox. And call her kid, as well. It was kind of insulting if you were Mirja and oblivious to practically every insult ever conceived. Mirja just gave a grin and nodded, her tail swishing from one side to the other like the world's cutest metronome.
"Ohh, yea. People tell me that all the time. I am a box of chatter. Like a box of chocolates on the, never know what you are going to get part, but without being able to eat me. I'm not very tasty, and I am very tough. More effort to carve me up than you'll ever get actually eating me"
It was slightly unnerving that she had thought about being eaten in such great detail, but that was Mirja. Everything was great detail for her. And her smile was showing off those lovely little fangs of hers, which was not that alarming, and just made her look like a cartoon wolf. But then the girl said that here was her home, and she was not welcome. Ignoring that point for the moment - Mirja was all for making everyone feel welcome when they were cute like this - she looked up, and then around.
"What is your home? This spot right here? Rukongai? Soul Society as a whole? Or directly underneath the Soul King's eighteenth bathroom? You aren't welcome there, he is possessive of his bathrooms. But, why does he need so many of them? There is only one him, so any bathrooms over five is totally too many"

All this noise. . .
Animum thought as she exhaled. The wolf-eared girl infront of her just simply continued to jabber on and on about random incoherent stuff that made little to no sense. However despite this the advent of despair didn’t lash out at the random banter. Instead her eyes shifted back to the sky above and her golden eyes studied the clouds. In her mind she truly pondered why she was here or atleast for what reason she was around here so close to the gotei 13. Was it because this was the spot where it all truly began? Or was it because she had so many good and bad memories here? Memories that weren’t her own nor made sense to her? Either of those would be acceptable answers to her if she could just concentrate and figure out how to answer properly. However that was the problem she didn’t really know how to answer. So an exhale left the likes of her mouth and she said softly.
”..I don’t eat anything comprised of fur, hair or with a mouth as flippant as your own.”
Truly her response was rather dry but it was because for all intents and purposes she was greatly distracted with puzzling out exactly what her direct path would be from here on out. If she was going to bury the hatchet and move on or if she was going to mend the rift and try to rejoin the soul society. Either way she was at this current moment trying to figure that out. It wasn’t Mirja’s fault that she was tuned to essentially background noise while the likes of the advent thought and thought. Her brows slightly furrowed and electricity gently crackling around her body before she finally exhaled and decided that she was going to figure out just how she wanted to answer the female that was before her. Sure it wasn’t going to be the easiest of answers but it would be an answer that was straight from the heart.
”..I am not welcome in the gotei 13. Even though it is the place that i feel is my home, it is the one place that i am no longer welcome to go child. Because of the horrid being i am. “
Each word the winged female spoke had the authority known as truth. After all she was a being that went hand and hand with catastrophe. She caused a city to become an island, terraforming the map. Her crimes were great and she had many of them, many more than she could count at least so the question wasn’t why she was like she was. The question was did she deserve redemption. And the answer to that question was. . . She didn’t know.

Mirja, The Mad Wolf
Mirja's grin grew broader as the girl admitted to not eating something so furry, or with a mouth so, something like hers. Mirja did not have a great vocabulary at this point in time.
"That's good! I tried eating my tail one, I got this sudden overwhelming urge to chase it, and so I managed to eventually catch it and I then I thought 'what's one little nibble between friends' because I am friends with myself so I had a nibble and it tasted really bad. It was like, pthh, blegh, uhhh" she went through noises of discontent, until the girl shut her up by saying she was not welcome here.
Mirja cocked her head, as if trying to understand something very complex, but then eventually just, broke into a smile and shook her head.
"Well you are welcome in the Me 13! I shall make sure that the rest of the people here stop disliking you for whatever reason it is. You are a lovely girl, after all, and I would hate for you to be sad simply because people don't want you to come play with them. You know it's secretly because you are way better at the games and make them feel like poo, right?" she had no idea who this girl was, what reason she had for believing she was so unwelcome, but was confident to a scary level that she could solve the all her problems.
And so to demonstrate the trust, she fished out a bag of wrapped rice cakes, and offered the girl some, a sign of great trust if people knew how Mirja was with her food.
"So here. Eat something, tell me your troubles, and then we can go about fixing it for the people that don't like you for whatever reason. Nobody is ever too far gone to be forgiven" she exclaimed, a childish naivety making short work of anything the girl could throw at Mirja.

Noise, incessant needless noise. As the wind blew at animum’s back, causing her golden strands of hair to blow forth, obscuring her face and accentuating her pale unblemished skin, she felt a sigh coming on. The words, the babble that flowed forth from the mouth of this girl was . . . incomprehensible to say the least when it fell upon her ears. It was noise that had no meaning, no understanding to be gleaned from it. Animum’s head tilted back as she glanced upon the skies above, with their azure tones obscured by the emerald canopy above. Each fine emerald leaf with their resplendent colors dying the light green as is filtered down from above, a tapestry of blues and greens before her very eyes.
The noise, it annoyed her on some small level. The quiet she had found was distrubed by this intruder, and then she was further bothered by her lack of common sense in her word choice. Yet the next words out of her mouth broke through that mood, cleanly bifurcating it as it was a person cleaved in two by a well-honed sword.
”Nobody is ever too far gone to be forgiven”
Maybe it was the contrast between the absurdity of her thoughts, her ramblings; and the truth those few words portrayed. That were enough to cause the corner of her lips to curve up as she continued to stare skyward. Maybe then mirja could feel it, the soft hair-raising static that permeated the air. The way the barometric pressure seemed to drop as it normally did preceding a thunderstorm. The faint haze that surrounded them, like a fine mist of energy that expanded outwards. Whatever the case was, the more tangible droplets soon followed from the skies above, the blue tones having been replaced by thick grey-black thunderclouds, their noise rumbling as lightning arced from one cloud to another with a mighty peal of thunder.
The rain that fell forth from the skies above was cold, it’s biting chill present with each and every droplet that splattered against animum’s smooth unblemished skin, the droplets glinting in with the backlighting of the turbulent skies above, glowing yellow with each bolt of lightning that broke forth from the clouds that adorned the sky. Yet, there was no violence within this storm that had sprung out of the blue, rather it was a feeling of loss that pervaded this soft and dreary setting. A feeling of melancholy that resounded with the low drum of water as it hit the canopy above, and the drip as it rolled from the leaves and splattered sporadically against the forest floor below.
Once more lightning flashed from above, and it illuminated the golden eye that peered at mirja as magnolia glanced sidelong at her. Oh those eyes, they were like bottomless pools. How could one begin to brave their depths? How could one traverse them to understand what lay behind those eyes? There was no malice here, but there was . . pain. There was a loss that underlied those haunting gold eyes that seemed to be enough to cripple a man, enough to leave them seeking death. Yet the smile that adorned her lips with its finely sculpted features was one that was soft and kind.
Her halo with it’s multiple hues glinted dimly in this muted scenery, as the winds had begun to pick up as the storm rolled in, their howls drowning out much of the more subtle sounds of the woodlands around them. The soft rustle of leaves a constant in the backdrop of the storm - her mouth parted softly.
”No, sometimes forgiveness cannot be given.”
Her words were so soft that they had been drowned out by the storm as her eyes slowly slid from mirja to glance back up at the raging skies above. Even as rain soaked her body and slicked her golden hair down she stared up at the storm, her expression slipping from that soft smile to one that was unreadable. This would last for a few minutes before her gaze shifted back to the stranger. She knew she shouldn’t open this door, ask this question but she did so anyways, and thus in the midst of the storm her muted voice graced mirja’s ears.
”What do you think it means to be forgiven?”

ENTER THE FLUFFY WOLF
Artist: N/A - Song: N/A - Word Count: N/A
Mirja's hair stood on end, her tail fur sparkling with the energy that was building up. She never did like static, it was all bzzt and evil and such like. She didn't suit being stood on end like the static made her do. But then, she cocked her head, sniffed and looked to the sky for a second before shrieking wordlessly for a few moments before actual words started to come out of the Wolf.
"Ohh No! There is rain coming! Run to the Me 13!" She exclaimed, picking up Animum and sprinting away with considerable speed. The rain and lightning was quite a beautiful sight to behold, but Mirja was not sticking around to behold, she was getting out of the way so people wouldn't get wet.
It didn't quite work very well. The rain came quickly, and there was lightning as well, and other things that couldn't be stopped. So her and Animum got wet on the run to her house. But get to her house they did. And Mirja shook off like a dog before going into her bedroom, and bringing out towards and a cute red Qipao. What she was doing with that, was anyone's guess. The oriental dress was laid neatly on the table before Mirja went to dry off Animum with the towel, enthusiastically and with childish glee.
"Wet wet wet wet wet wet wet. That's bad. Wet is bad. Be dry~" she sung to herself, as she dried off Animum. And then she looked up at the girl. Their eyes met, and it became clear. Unlike the deep emotions of Animum, there was nothing but scorched remains of Mirja's mentality. There was the faintest hint of sentience behind the burned out rubble of what was once her mind.
"Now we must bare your flesh and get it dry so you can wear clothes that are also both dry and cute!" she exclaimed, before handing the towel to Animum and letting her do that. There was at least some neurons still firing within the poor Wolf's brain. Finally, she settled down to think of Animum's question. "Hmm, if forgiveness can not be given, then it should be taken. For, if you deserve it and it is not given, then you should right such a wrong. However, you can only take forgiveness if you truly wish for it. And the plea must not come from here" Mirja placed a surprisingly soft finger on Animum's lips, and smiled. Though madness manifested itself without restraint, it seemed that on the other side of sanity, there was a different kind of intelligence. "For all the deceit of the world comes from here" Her hand slid down to be on Animum's heart. "The plea must come from here. And from your Soul. Then forgiveness comes"
She swished her tail softly behind her, and then picked up the dress.
"Forgiveness is knowing the past hurts because of what you have done, and still offering shelter from the rain. It is something very difficult to give, because people like to cling to the past. They like to scorn the reasons it hurts, and they like to be filled with hate because it warms them on cold nights. Without hate, they would be nothing. And people fear being nothing above all other things in this world"

”And offering shelter from the rain . . huh?”
Animum’swords seemed to come. . slowly as if mulling over what the wolf-eared gal behind her had just said. It was an interesting notion, that had her shifting faintly from one foot to the other as she thought about it in depth. How often had she sought shelter from the rains of life, to end up being left. . drenched in the frigid deluge that lay beyond the shelter? A sigh escaped Animum’s lips as she glanced at Mirja, studying her at length it seemed for the time being.
Even now though, Mirja could see the world around them shift. The rain that soon fell from the clouds in the heavens, the static haze that had vanished and instead brought forth the rumbling fury of the clouds above. Yes, it rained; a visible wall of water descending from the heavens to pound against the earth below. There was no shelter for this deluge, instead the rain first hit Animum’s hair, drenching it’s golden surface, plastering it to her body, then it drenched her clothes causing them to stick to her frame before she looked at the gal in front of her.
Animum did not blame mirja for being so optimistic. Instead she truly wished that she too could find forgiveness, be sheltered from the rain. Maybe one day, she’d be able to find that forgiveness that she sought more than anyone else. Maybe, she could atone she could be better than what life had given her. However right now, she was but a girl yearning for what could have been, instead of changing what she had now. A sad smile blossomed from Animum’s lips as she spoke once more, her feet at this point floating against the grass below.
”Maybe your right, and one day i will be able to be sheltered from the rain as you put it. However, the things i’ve done. The people i’ve betrayed, the path i’ve led truly is one that even if i could be forgiven, i do not think it could ever truly be forgotten. However, i truly wish for the day that i will be able to be sheltered from the rain. I will wait for it fervently, and when it comes i too will know peace. “
Animum’s words seemed to the herald of her departure. As she smiled once and the wings that once lay folded, spread magnificently as she said with a parting glance.
”When that day comes, i will find you and thank you for the words you have said today. They have brought me great comfort, until then though . farewell.”
Animum soon with a beat of her wings vanished, her form dissipating rapidly into the clouds above, into the thunderous rain clouds that continued to bathe the earth in rain, in a life's blood that would allow the tree’s to grow, and plants to be born anew.
Animum has left the thread
