ENTER THE DEPTHS

Every impact of the Shinigami’s blade against her opponent’s drove him further into the ground, cracks forming within the arena tile beneath them. The feral drive which gripped her mind only grew stronger still as a sudden whiff of blood filled her scent, having pushed the man enough to reopen the wound she’d left upon him earlier, crimson now pooling around the unfortunate Human. She’d managed to grab onto his pinkie finger, and with a single powerful tug it was torn free from his hand, cascading fresh red droplets across the arena floor off to her left. If she had her way she’d simply tear him limb from limb with her bare hands. At this rate Vanyel would falter and her blade would split open his skull. It was only a matter of time.
As she continued to rain down one blow after another Vanyel tried to summon forth a second weapon in his pinned hand. His wrist flicked inward in an attempt to cut at her tail, but she was having none of that. Tightening her grip and sinking sharpened energy dense fur into the man’s arm, Yuki’s tail coiled inwards both to glance the blade away from the fleshy tail hidden within and to twist his arm. She had no intention upon halting the twisting motion until his arm was twisted by a full rotation, both to destroy the muscles and to tear bone from the shoulder’s socket. With any luck he would not be using the arm for the rest of the battle.
Energy was gathered within Vanyel’s body. Even she could sense it. It was considerable too, although she knew that such a tactic would be draining. While using her Shikai did certainly take energy she had been able to conserve quite a bit with simply relying upon physical strikes, although it wasn’t as if she had a choice either considering her lack of kido skills. Regardless, the blast of energy turned out not to be very dangerous. If anything it was focused on giving the man a little bit of breathing room. And, for a moment, it seemed to work! She was forced backwards, sent off the ground even, although Vanyel was unfortunately dragged right behind her as her tail still held onto his arm. That was of course if he had been blown along with her. If instead they were sent in opposite directions then he just might have found his muscles completely torn open by the spikes which gripped upon him or even the loss of his arm entirely! Nor was she clumsy enough to loosen her grip upon her weapon, which she aimed to keep in hand while she was driven back.
Regardless, if she had managed to hold onto his arm then it would not last forever. Focusing more on keeping her weapon in hand did take some of the Shinigami’s focus, and with this Vanyel would have managed to finally free his arm from her grip, if he’d been dragged along on her short journey. A quiet muffled growl left the wolf’s lips as she flipped right back up to her feet, crimson gaze searching quickly for her prey. With his scent captured it would not take much to locate him, although it wasn’t as if he was trying to hide either. Nor could he really hide given the flat terrain they were situated upon. The man attempted to heal himself, managing to at least close the wound again, before suddenly there was a crackling noise.
No longer did she sense any spiritual strength within the man, as if he’d suddenly just given up and died. Unfortunately for Vanyel, such a tactic would not work against the wolf. First off, a part of her motto was to never underestimate her foe, mostly because she was used to using that advantage for herself. Secondly, in her current state of feral ferocity such things did not matter to her: she was out for his head. Finally, she had some really nifty senses. Hearing and smell were both especially potent for the wolf.
In an instant she was lingering over him, using flash step to close the distance. A wild feral glare fixated itself upon the seemingly downed human, pupil slitted as heavy muffed breaths escaped from her clenched teeth. One foot smashed forth, aimed for the center of his body in order to pin him into place and to potentially shatter his rib cage and to rupture the organs contained within it. At the same time her tail slipped down behind her, aiming to wrap around both of the man’s legs to keep them secure together. Finally, her blade was lashed down towards his right shoulder in an attempt to lop off Vanyel’s right arm, both as a way to make certain he wasn’t faking his death and as a way to finally and completely incapacitate him for good. Regardless of what occurred her fingers were gripping more tightly upon her weapon as the drain of her form started to weigh in on her and as she started to slowly claw her way back into the forefront of her mind.
