CHILD OF THE MOON
Luna

Massive doors creaked slowly open, exposing the two Iramasha children to a new room, ripe for exploration! But someone else laid behind the doors, a single man who Luna of course did not recognize. He didn’t look exactly like one of Earth’s children, but then they also were quite varied.
What are those things on his back? Why is his eye covered? Is he okay?! Maybe he isn’t a bad guy! He could be a good guy, right?
Her mouth opened but her words were silenced as everything started to shake. Loud thunderous noises filled her ears, her hand releasing its grip upon Haru’s in order to reach up and grab ahold of one of her long furry appendages, both tightly pulled down to either side of her head. Luna’s entire body shook with fear, eyes widening as the strange new noises assaulted her senses. Quieted whimpering was drowned out by the explosions, which grew ever nearer to their location.
W-what is that?!
“H-haru?”
The loud booming sounds nearly drowned out another noise: chittering. One of Luna’s ears was released, perking straight up, and once she’d captured the point of origin her head turned in its direction. A creature had emerged from where she’d originally met Haru, and then another, and then more still. Grotesque sharpened bone protruded from the creature’s form, sleek with a crimson substance.
Who is that?
“H-hello?”
Everything became a blurred mess, sounds drowned out by a deafening explosion as Luna was briefly thrown from the floor, and a brief second later it came crashing right into her body. The air was knocked from her lungs, and despite her lack of need for the substance the petite bunny briefly found herself gasping. Everything in her body felt as though it was on fire, and for the first time in her life she tasted the warm metallic taste of blood. Organs had been ruptured by the shockwave, but they would begin to repair themselves as the top of the base was torn away, exposing everything to the vacuum of space.
Hands desperately grasped for anything as Luna felt her body torn away from the ground. Everything went black. When the Iramasha came to a few seconds later she noticed that she’d been slammed against a support column. Still connected to the base, it had kept her from getting flung out into space. Her chest lifted and lowered quickly, breaths escaped her lips, but no sound emerged. Everything was silent and suddenly very cold.
Earth is getting bigger! What is happening? Where is Haru?!
Eyes frantically darted around, searching for her friend. The blurriness that covered her vision gradually subsided, revealing the giant room they’d been standing in, now almost completely empty.
There!
Pushing off with her feet, Luna was flung through the air much more quickly than she’d anticipated, as she’d forgotten that she was no longer within the Earthling’s home. Hands stretched outwards as she slammed into the floor, face smacking into the cold metal near her friend. Again everything went black for a moment, but this time when she recovered she felt warmth against her hand. Eyes flickered open repeatedly, and as her vision cleared she spotted Haru, who’d managed to grab onto one of her hands, preventing her from being cast out into the vast darkness above.
Haru!
Crimson droplets scattered between them from the bunny’s nose and mouth. Her eyes started to sting as the crimson orbs were joined by clearer ones. Luna’s heart was beating faster than it ever had before as fear coursed through her veins, but she was starting to calm down. The child’s mouth opened to speak, but nothing emerged. Suddenly both of them were lifted from the floor, losing their grasp on each other. Metal flooring split open beneath them. A rift started to form between them. Luna reached out again for Haru, mouth opening to scream, but still nothing emerged. Their fingers nearly touched, only centimeters from each other, when they were once again thrown into the air.
No!
Everything started to move at once. Luna barely had enough time to grapple onto an open door frame, nearly cast away from the base once again. Earth disappeared from the sky above, replaced by darkness. Her breath quickened, and now as her gaze darted around Luna noticed that the base was missing or, rather, she was missing from the base! Somehow this small chunk of the room was no longer connected to the rest of it. More frightening still: she couldn’t see the Moon’s surface.
Mom? Mom?! Where are you?!
Frantically she glanced around, searching for familiar terrain, anything that could be recognized. Then, a minute later, her heart sank. Within the sky the Moon appeared. A great chunk was missing, glittering silvery shards drifting off into the cosmos around her, although many pieces seemed to be heading in the same direction.
Mommy?
Stinging returned to her eyes, vision blurred by droplets of moisture that escaped.
Are you okay Mommy?
Frozen in place, Luna could only watch helplessly as her home grew ever distant. Her stomach felt weird, like something might rise up from it, and her body started to tremble. She felt herself becoming weak, slumping further against the protruding steel she currently clinged against.
Why won’t you say something? Please? Anything?
A brilliant mixture of red and orange and yellow flickered upwards from the edges of the floor surrounding her, startling the young Iramasha. Her grip tightened against the one thing holding her down to the floor as everything was tinted with red. Everything was drowned out by a great roaring sound, the coldness of space instantly replaced by an incredible heat.
“Mommy! Haru! I’m scared! Don’t leave me! Please! Anybody!”
Her voice was drowned out, figure squeezed tightly against the metal she held her body against, which now started to glow red. It hurt to hold onto, but she was more scared of letting go. White clouds obscured her vision. Most of the heat dissipated, the air around her growing chilled once more. She started to hyperventilate. Darkness overtook her again when the moon chunk finally made impact with the ground.
When Luna next came to she didn’t know how much time had passed. Everything was ringing and dark, then blurry as her eyes started to grow accustomed to the night. She tried to move an arm but it felt too heavy, a jolt of pain searing its way through the limb, forcing a whimpering noise from her lips. The metallic taste had returned to her mouth.
What happened? Why do I hurt all over?
Gradually her vision improved as Earth’s gravity was absorbed into her body, slowly working to mend the many broken bones, bruises, cuts, scrapes, and burns which covered her body, although it would take quite some time before that finished happening. A great painful heat erupted from her left side, where she’d been impaled by a twisted metal bar. Her clothes were now in tatters, burned in most places, only clinging to her form with the assistance of her blood and burns. She could remake them later, but now her energy was spent trying to fix her many, many wounds.
Where am I? Everything stopped moving.
Luna’s eyes widened when she spotted the Moon again. It was so far away. Glittering specks scattered from its surface, as if it were crying for the loss of its daughter. A great piece of its surface was missing. The young Iramasha felt heat return to her eyes as moisture again welled up within them. Her mouth opened to speak, but she found it too painful.
I’m here! Mommy! Please! I want to go back! D-did I do something wrong? Was I bad?
A chittering noise cut through the silence around her, prompting one of her tattered, bloodied, singed ears to twitch to life, shaking as it lifted upwards. Her head turned slowly, eyes cringing due to the pain. One of the strange creatures from before had made it, and now lifted itself from a pile of rubble. She could feel her heart racing, but try as she might Luna simply could not move.
I’m scared! Mommy! Haru! Somebody!

“Ready..”
The wolf like being barked, as it already started to briskly jog across the ground. Not yet starting to pick up it’s speed.
“ BURST!”
At that moment, with the sound off from Kiyah, the creature breaks into a fast sprint. Moving as quick as it feasibly can as it tries to make it’s way towards it’s summoner. When it finally gets to him, it slows down. Finishing up the run and panting, then turning to him to see how well she did. He walks over to her slowly, a hand reaching out towards her and going to rub right along her head as if to congratulate her.
“Good job Puff Mama.”
The beast sighed, shaking her head as her ears seem to droop a bit. Even if her summoner was rubbing her head so lovingly, it didn’t really make her feel much better about her performance, as she spoke up to reply.
“No…this is not fast enough. I can’t protect if I don’t improve my speed. I’m…”
“You’re fine, okay? Just be patient. This kind of thing doesn’t just happen. It’s really hard to get faster, even harder than it is to get stronger. Just give it time and you’ll be alright.”
The creature that went by the name Puff Mama nodded after being reassured. She wasn’t used nearly as often as Los Awesome or the Schoolgirls, so she felt lesser. As if she was in their shadow, as if they were truly that better and she was mostly just here to pad Kiyah’s summon count. But she continues to try and shake all the possibly bad and devaluing thoughts that enter her mind. She’ll surpass them, she works harder than them. No matter what they do, she intends to be better. In her own opinion she’s cuter too, but to hear the truth might actually hurt her feelings a bit.
“I’ll continue to give it my all.”
But after she nodded once more, she started to growl. She heard something..felt something in the distance.
“What is it?”
She doesn’t say a word, she just starts to gallop. Kiyah proceeds to give chase the entirety of the way, his handgun already drawn and cocked back. The both of them making their way into the distance as he is of course confused.
What in the world could this be? They were in the middle of nowhere to train, so they didn’t expect anything but a enemy.
Time passed as the hunter continued to close in on his target with his companion, but not by much. When the both of them arrived they were able to make out the figure in the distance, seemingly a young girl as well as something starting to move underneath the rubble.
Once it made it’s presence known, Kiyah wouldn’t waste a second more. He aimed and shot at the enemy when it popped up, four shots straight to it’s head. The bangs coming from the weapon echoing throughout. As Puff Mama scampered over in front of Luna defensively, growling at the beast to see if it would attack.
“Are you alright?”

The chittering creature’s movements were quick and erratic, head shifting this way and that seemingly at random while it gained its bearings to the new world surrounding it. Luna’s heart started to beat rapidly within her chest, ears lowering so as not to give away her position. Something just didn’t seem right about it. She could just feel that something was off.
I can’t stay here! I have to move!
Fear filled her mind and told her to run. Fingers pushed aside rocks and debris, gripping against the solid ground beneath her in an attempt to get leverage. As pebbles shifted and tumbled away noise was made, drawing the creature’s attention towards the young Iramasha. She tried to push against the ground, to lift her body, however she was instantly halted when heat tore through her abdomen. A pained whimper left her lips, vision blurred with tears as she removed her hands from the ground. Despite the pain her body shook.
Mommy! Please! Don’t leave me!
It started to approach her, chittering growing louder as it neared its prey. Suddenly there was a loud pop. And another. Then two more. Each noise caused Luna to flinch and her eyes to widen in shock, heart pounding heavier still within her petite chest. Having been weakened due to its equally treacherous descent to Earth, she noticed the creature fall just as something else entered her vision. This new creature was something that she’d never seen before, a faint blue glow cast off its fur within the moonlight. Initially she was afraid of it too. Was it some Earth creature here to hurt her? However when it turned and faced off against the other creature the little bunny felt a pang of hope rush through her mind.
Did it hear me? I didn’t even speak. Maybe Mommy called it here.
A voice emerged from the creature, asking if she was okay. Relief washed over the child, prompting her to lie still within the rubble, although the feelings of pain now re-emerged. Hands, still shaking, drifted down to the most obvious wound, passing over burned flesh and cuts galore. Finger tips brushed over the metal protrusion, setting off another rippling wave of pain, which caused her ears to drop to the floor and her right foot to push outwards against the ground. More whimpering escaped from her.
It hurts so much!
The combination of her many wounds started to overtake her, mind no longer kept awake by the adrenaline that fear provided. Everything became peaceful and heavy as a chill overtook her body. Her lips parted to speak, although her voice escaped as just a whisper.
“Mommy…”
Darkness took over her vision. The Iramasha drifted out of consciousness, body too exhausted and in pain to keep her awake while it attempted to recover using Earth’s gravitational forces. At least she was now seemingly safe. The strange creature lay still for the moment, perhaps perished, but then there was only one way to be certain of that. As for Luna, she was surrounded by the scattered remains of the Moon and the base which had resided upon its surface, her body covered in burns and cuts and scrapes and bruises of all sizes, however most worrying was the jagged bar of metal which stuck out from her left side, glistening crimson under the moonlight. Very little remained of her clothing and those few fragments now clinged tightly to her body, either burned in place or held by the still fresh blood which covered her in many places. As it turned out a fall from space was not a gentle affair.

The sound of the male’s shoes thumping against the ground could faintly be heard in the air, as he started to approach the creature that he had already managed to hit with a few bullets. The gun was held pointing downward, as he was ready to shoot if need be. While he got ready to combat this beast further, he motioned towards his summon to make sure that the girl was alright. He can’t see how badly “beaten” up she was, but as of right now the air was still ripe with the smell of blood. A ugly smell that he hated to say that he’s used too by now. All of his muscles tensed right now as the tension could be cut with a knife. Of course he could just grab the girl and run, but sadly there is no guarantee that this beast will not only give chase, but harm the others in the vicinity. It wouldn’t be right to let something like this run amuk…
While he continued to check, Puff Mama noticed that Luna had passed out. The creature aimed to pull her to the side so that she would be further distanced in the event that this ended up breaking into some kind of battle. Bringing it’s teeth to the female’s pants leg and dragging her by them away from the fray so that Kiyah was given ample free space to fight back this beast. More than needed at that.
“You should be good.”
She barked at her summoner, he gave her a reassuring nod.
“Just keep safeguarding her in case this thing is not dead and gets loose. Formation B, just like we practiced.”
As she nodded, Kiyah started to mentally countdown while he continued to near the beast. Once he had finally gotten close it, he prepared himself for the worse. If it had the durability to tank his bullet shots, than this might actually turn into a bigger problem for him. Regardless, he’s more than confident in his abilities to subdue this monster. That being said, he uses his feet to try and quickly kick the wreckage that the being is presumably “hiding” underneath to unveil it and be sure it was dead or not.

With caution the strange fleshy beast was approached, and for the moment it remained still. Luckily Luna was pretty short, only four feet tall if it weren’t for her long ears, and her body was incredibly light, perhaps even lighter than it should have been. This made it pretty easy to drag her away from the dangerous zone of potential combat, even while she was completely unconscious. For the moment she didn’t even dream, as all energy was focused upon drawing in the Earth’s gravity, her body desperate to heal the many wounds which she’d accumulated, however it was not used to this environment yet, and so healing them on its own would take days.
Even as the boy reached the strange creature there would be no movement. It wasn’t until he kicked the wreckage that the horrifying blend of flesh and bone twitched to life! But, alas, that was all it was. The four pinpoint shots had caught it off guard and had managed to shatter any semblance of a head which it might have once had, and even then it had sustained injuries during its descent to Earth.
Luna, meanwhile, was breathing evenly, so at least she hadn’t suffered too much internal damage. However there was the issue of her side wound, which had been exacerbated by the brief moment of being tugged through the wreckage. The twisted bar of steel had been dislodged from her abdomen, although now there was nothing to stop the bleeding, and the wound had been somewhat enlarged. Thankfully the increased bleeding wouldn’t ruin her clothes, nor would the tugging upon them by the canine, because they were in fact already quite ruined! It wasn’t really that great of an upside, but at this moment she had to take what she could get. Well, that is, she would have if she were conscious.
