Defenses Up [Reformation War Event]

The tidings of late had been grim, each day was the same, wake up tot he same red sky with crack marks throughout it like frozen black lightning bolts. These past few weeks had been bad, Earth had started to feel this negative energy first. Shinigamis had been dispatched left and right to go assist in the plight of the humans but as it progressed to Soul Society they were called back in. It pissed Carter off that they were forced to stand around and wait for whatever was going to happen to happen, he had been against calling his division back into this realm but given their role at maintaining order in times of need he had no choice.
His squad had to work in accordance with Squads One and Nine in instances like this but in this day and age those squads ceased to exist basically. Squad Nine had only a Captain... no members. The actual fucking Command Squad in charge of the whole fucking Gotei was member-less. It was a laughing stock but being that they all had their tasks to do and their numbers were already so thin, that it left Carter with no choice but to pull his squad back in. In reality he was afraid with what was happening, he had read the reports of the black earth or negative earth from before where certain individuals went and faced off against the inverses of themselves, some destroying them, some being absorbed, and some taking the power their inverse had and growing with it.
When it became clear this energy was close to if not the same as the energy from that event he went on high alert, they had assumed that that reality was shattered and all was right but now that wasn't the truth. Now in the human world people were killing one another, people were going insane, days would pass by without and update, countries would cease speaking, news wouldn't broadcast. It was the damn apocalypse over there and he was forced to pull out any of the help he could have sent to focus on protecting what little was here.
He was worried for a handful of people but knew they would make it out okay. In the days that had followed since he had called his troops back news had come up that new inverses of people had appeared but they weren't the polar opposite anymore, they were completely different, having adopted their own minds, their own morals, and their own powers. He hadn't crossed the inverse of himself but he had a feeling if this progressed the way it was shaping to he would end up crossing swords with the opposite him.
Sighing he looked out over the streets of the Soul Society, he had left defense of Division Seven barracks up to anyone who wanted it, he wasn't about to protect an empty building while spirits were out here looting, killing, and screaming in pain and fear. This was a time when faith was needed and the souls should all turn toward a light to guide them and he had finally become a guiding light in his own sense. He could attempt to protect these people and help them pull back from their insanties if given enough time.
He knew war had finally broken out on earth between the Reformed and the humans of this reality and it was only a matter of time until it happened here and the young captain wanted to be fully prepared. His golden eyes scanned the streets looking for a sign, looking for a possible place where an enemy would enter this realm from. He wanted to have his eyes peeled and his head on a swivel so he could strike out at any location from anytime.
His arms where crossed over his chest as he stood at the cliff of the Execution Hill. It was a nasty place to be in his mind but one of the highest vantage points for the young angel shinigami to look out at any place the invasion could start. "Truth give us guidance in the event that is about to begin." He whispered, hoping somewhere his prayer would be answered.

Abuse, abuse, abuse; it was always fun to abuse and take advantage of things! Given the climate of the Soul Society, their defenses were about as potent as a wet potato against a mountain lion. As, in other words, The Gotei's defensive protocols were piss-poor!
Once the initial outburst of Reformed started bombarding the walls of the Seireitei, most of the Gate Guardians were more than busy dealing with the unending threats that stormed their precious capital. While, from the constant aerial fire, the barrier was placed under strain and it took only the slightest of cracks to bypass and slip through.
Which is where our lovely villain comes in~
Breaking through the dome in a fluster of emerald green flames, The Queen of Demons was more than happy to be here and enact her delicious plans for chaos and discord. Something was beaconing her presence and pulling the demoness towards this time and place. Even from the depths of Demon World, this Vixen of The Shade couldn't help but be attracted to the cluster of calamity taking place in the Soul Society.
Therefore, she lost all sense of restraint, threw caution to the wind and flung herself in the middle of it all. For, in the form of wave of darkness, this witch of a bitch came dashing through the air and upwards past the likes of Carter with a wild cackle. She could feel the wild thrash against her pale skin, the breeze flow through her raven hair and scent of madness filled every fiber of her most royal black dress.
Yes indeed! It was enough to make those gem green eyes of hers light up with happiness and the horns upon her head audible squeal with joy.
But, during her mad ascension, The Queen did not miss a beat and sensed the stench of Truth's energy coating this unfortunate bastard. In response to this holy force, Miss Mana couldn't help but unleash a cluster of demonic energy strong enough to send the boy hurdling for miles before hollering this out to him:
"Did I do that~? Pardon me, s'ugah. I mistook that bod of ya's for rancid roadkill!"
And honestly -- she was right! Of course she laid it on thick for our ol' hero over there, but the smell of holy energy had a scent akin to dog feces to her. So, to feel that energy washing over her made The Queeny react and blow the fucker out of the water. Plus, since he was a do gooder, it was probably for good measure as he'd most likely want to stop her nefarious plans to begin with. So it's a win-win.
Either way, this brings us back to the reason why she was here: the cracks. The Empress of Discord could honestly care less about harming these peons and their sham of a base. No. She was here for something much more than that. There was a cluster of unbalance felt in these ripples in the heavens -- and she wanted to set it free to become whole and abide by her element of chaos.
Henceforth, Mana held her right palm out and unleashed a high volume of demonic energy into the atmosphere which was tethered to prowess. As, through it, she could communicate and patch in the pathways of Za Koa and begin the work of linking a system of unknown realms together. Instead of the energy of the Reformed World being disorganized and scattered, it seemed to slowly start to merge and mesh together in order to form -- something bigger.
Just what was it assembling? Well, like all good chief's who secure a top dishes recipe; or a politician who commits war crimes under the guise of a crocked smile, that was a secret! All that mattered and needed to be known was that the wonderful cloud of chaos was upon the realm of spirits and she was cooking up something quite fun for everyone to take part in!
The question was: could anyone be so bold as to step in and ask, "Hey M'am, whatcha' got cookin'?"
That answer remained to be unseen; as there weren't too many who were in a rush to fight against one of the most bastardized creatures in this existence. And, as far as Mana was concerned, that suit her well. Thus, she would snap her fingers, poof up a glass of gin and tonic, sip and simply await for her plans to finalize before moving on with the next objective in her top secret mission!

He knew well and good madness and chaos had begun to ensue in the realm of the Soul Society but the young captain was in no way prepared for the demonic deity of Madness to appear herself. he had wanted to bring a fight to her one day when he was strong enough to beat her down but here she was, she had managed to break through the Gotei's defenses and honestly he wasn't surprised. She was one of the three most powerful people in all of existence and honestly the Gotei was suffering lately, the defenses were sub par at best. She seemed hell bent on something (haha hellbent) and she didn't appear to be here for a fight as she flew by over head.
Even in his new heightened state her energy was oppressive to the small captain. He was certain he would have the upper hand due to being able to surprise her but she felt him somehow, no one could feel him.... His angelic aura was masked, one of the gifts of truth was that an enemy couldn't determine spirit pressure form him but being how powerful she was feeling the lack of spirit pressure in a heightened spirit pressure area probably made him stick out long enough for her to zone in on him and determine who he was. She wasted no time, she wasn't here to toy around and quickly she unleashed a powerful wave of demonic energy at him, an attempt to blast him away before offering a little taunt.
In his well lit area and with his new power scale he used his Lux Gradus ability and felt his being meld with the energy of light before rushing far up over the blast. Even with his greatly enhanced speed her barely managed to clear the attack and already could feel the strain on his muscles from having to go at full speed, he knew doing that again soon would cause more harm than good. Now 200 meters up in the air his right hand came up as a black set of wings fluttered in his palm, his mouth close and whispering into the butterfly. Sliding his hand behind him he ushered the butterfly off, a warning to his squad to stay alert and to stay out of the fight. He would be hard pressed to even survive what might be happening so they wouldn't stand a chance and he couldn't give them proper protection if this came down to a fight.
Cracking his neck the white haired captain discarded his long white robe, letting it drift to the ground far below, his left hand would rest on his Zanpakutō but he wouldn't draw it. If they came to blows even up here in the air many people would be harmed below so he needed to buy himself time, he needed to figure out what this demonic goddess wanted. Answering her taunt he would smile, " It's okay, no harm done. Before we go to arms and I defend this place and in the process have you mop the floor with me I want to know if you mean to cause harm to this realm." he young boy would speak loudly across the opening, making sure to give her a wide distance in case she wanted to pull some crap again.
She was doing something with her demonic energy, building something, as if binding the cracked energy in a way to itself, but it didn't feel offensive yet. Sure it felt wrong and disgusting to him but so far it didn't feel like she was here for blood and he wasn't going to be known as the one who provoked the demon queen into combat.
"If we can't avoid blood shed I ask that you humor me and turn me into a pile of blood and guts in a less populated area. I'm fond of these beings and would rather be dead before I see you harm them. If we can avoid a fight though... well that would be grand..."His voice rang out, his golden eyes glinting under the locks of white hair.

Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh.....
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Why do the best things in life take so much effort and time? Well, not so much effort, as opposed to time! She was the Demon Queen, things get hella' easy at this rank, s'ugah. The only problem was -- the transferal rate required to summon her sinister plan was takin' way too long. It made her feel a bit uneasy as she wasn't exactly trying to make an extended vacation in the Soul Society. As, yanno, these people were broke, stupid, paranoid and defenseless; the perfect combination to start a random war against any shining target they see in the sky!
Though, she'd be lying if there wasn't a passing thought or two that ran in her mind that wanted to throw a bit of destruction at this "Gotei Reformed'. Alas, though, the long-term chaos was more interesting to her than the short-term. So, for now, she needed something to pass the time and that came in the form of our beloved protagonist: Carter!
There was a low whistle heard from ol' Queenie when she witnessed him coming back from the dead and wishing to challenge her in earnest. Of course, even with all this bravado, The Queen could tell they were just biding for time and hoping their dog and pony show of a organization wasn't wiped out with a single breath of her energy. So, she'd give a shrug, giggle and feel a sense of pride with how far she had came. This arrogance and happiness within was enough to make her overlook and ignore the obvious bait.
Thus, as our buck-strapping hero stripped off his clothes for Miss Manic Mana Asthavon, The Demoness would coo and cat-call the male for getting so hot and romantic with her. They haven't exchanged proper blows and already he was losing his shirt and garments.
"Meow baby~ Take it all off!"
With a slow motion of her right hand, the oh-so-sweet Queen would gesture herself as if she were a cat pawing at Carter's face. Of course, she'd then proceed to cover her nose once the rancid smell of The Angelic Shinigami's fecal matter overshadowed his lovely physical appearance. Geez, these angel's stunk worse than a donkey's rear end dipped in day old mayonnaise.
So to avoid the question of what her intentions were, The Demoness would summon a bottle of "air freshener", jump forward to Carter's face, snicker and then -- SPRAY! Out of the can would come a rush of wind with the smell of buttercups, ginger and -- screams of chaos! All around Carter, a foul sense of discord, madness and all things demonic would rush around and create a dazzling glow of crimson around a one hundred radius.
"Now ya don't smell as bad as dah' Gotei Reformed's strength is, huehuehue!"
Rubbing her nose ever so slightly, The Queen was clearly just acting childish and having her fun at the expense of our poor lil' angelic hero. Oh the tragedy! As, even while she was having her thrill, the instinct to maul into the angel was still stuck inside the Queen's rotted heart. He was her enemy, she hated Truth and she wanted to turn anything that reminded her of him into a bloody pulp!
SO OFF TO THE HORSE TRACK RACES WE GO!
"Babe, darling, s'ugah, hunny; as much as I would like to let ya go....you still make my guts wanna puke their wonderful entrails all over this dimension. So, tell ya what, I'll kick you into the atmosphere and I promise not to bring your lil' friends into this, kay?"
Not giving him much other choice, The Demoness would have her right leg begin to AUDIBLY scream as dozens of mouths started hollering out of it. Then, with a swift motion, she'd seek to kick him away from the Seireitei and higher upwards into the heavens; probably 'bout a mile or two in the air depending on how strong her leg-game was.
Provided he didn't take the hit -- then bye-bye goes a huge chunk of the Seireitei below. As that blow's striking force had enough power to obliterate entire city blocks; so that could translate into oh-so many body counts and incidents of property damage.
All the while, towards the region in the sky where Mana was working her devil magic, a faint emerald light came to pass and a barrier was put in place as The Demon Queen started leaving her spell to work it's demonic goodies in the skies. After that little patching up was done, our Manic Villain would dash higher upwards into the clouds and seek to unleash hell upon our angelic hero!
"READY OR NOT: HERE COMES MAMMA MANA!"
So what would the hero do: take the damage -- or let his friends suffer?
LET'S SEE WHAT THE HERO CAN CONJURE UP LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

She ignored him and started mocking him off the bat with cat calls and whistling when he removed his white robe. She was baiting him and he wasn't surprised that the queen of madness would do it but he still felt his face redden before she vanished and reappeared in front of him with a bottle of spray she conjured out of the air like in a bad cartoon before dosing him in the shit, acting as if he stunk of a foul dead creature. In a very odd way he found himself embarrassed of his own bodily smell before realizing just who he was dealing with once more.It was as if her being here was infectious and making the level headed angel forgetful, he shook his head slowly and blinked repeatedly while the world swayed and she began to speak, her words coming out deep and slow like a man under water. His ears began to ring as if a bell was hammered on a million million times just outside of his head and he was finding his thoughts were beginning to jumble and he forgot what he was doing for a moment.
In the moment of forgetting something snapped inside him, or rather something was mended, a force of purity acted upon his will, forcing him to snap out of the stupor of chaos and focus on her words. She was talking about throwing up because of his existence, she was angry he even stood before her but she was trying to play it off cool. She offered to kick him into the stars and leave everyone else alone and he found a weight lifted off his shoulders before an immense energy built up, she was leaving him no time to respond before multiple lips appeared on her right leg and opened up, teeth shining in the light as they screamed shrilly and she came at him full force, aiming to kick him up into the stars.
He knew if he tried to dodge the kick the sheer power of it would level a good section of the city below and end innocent lives, she was testing him, testing his resolve in a way he would think. His eyes flashed pure white before he released his angelic energy around his being, light glowing out from the core of his chest and spreading to his limbs and face, his boyish frame growing into a full grown man's in the flash of light as he grew into his angelic release state. four wings the color of the sun grew from his shoulders and fluttered around him a halo of solar energy circling the back of his head and spinning endlessly as his black robes changed to armor like the ancient Knight's Templar, ribbons of clothing adorning his shoulders made of the same light as his halo and matching his body, gantlets covered his hands and let off a heavenly glow like the rest of his being while his boyish white hair grew past his shoulders, his eyes being beacons of the same solar light when they opened.
An angel has a very rare ability, they don't give off spiritual pressure, period. But in his release the air itself seemed to shimmer from the power he was giving off, as if it were defying the laws of the angelic race. She was much stronger than him but he wouldn't be cast aside so easily and he would force her to remember him if he were to die her, so his arms coming up in a cross took the full force of her kick before smashing back into his chest and sending him rocketing up into the sky, like a versed falling star.
His eyes fluttered shut from the force of the kick, pain coursing through his entire being as he flew through the sky against his will. His body was already severely damaged form one hit even in his released state but in his mind's eye the images of the smiling faces of his squad and the countless lives below made up for the searing pain he was going through before finally he came to a stop, his wings opening with his eyes and blood dripping from the corner of his mouth. His left hand touched the sheath of his Zanpakutō, as the katana was now gone and light ushered out from the blade's protective covering, the light massing into a ball that floated close to his left hand but didn't touch it of solidify into a tangible weapon.
Between coughs of blood that fell miles below like diamonds he looked for the demon queen, his eyes blurred and going in and out of focus before he finally saw her. "There, you get what you want. You can beat me down all day, all night, you can destroy my body and soul until the end of time but my resolve will not break, I will jump in front of every attack that endangers innocent lives." He said.
"It's funny though, being that you are the most powerful woman in existence you couldn't over come a primal urge. You came at me like a base predator that had to kill off of instinct as if higher thought process isn't something you have. While I, who hates you, haven't attacked you nor will I. I just wanted to know what business you have here now." He stated, his solar eyes staring hard at her when they focused back.

Trial: failed.
While the skies turned as black as our daring protagonist hopes of winning, the expectations of that The Demon Queen possessed for the male quickly faded and the amusement could almost be seen washing away from her. Had she become THAT powerful? It was a sobering thought as she honestly expected more of a kick from one of Truth's fabled angel's. With burning flashbacks of the clash she waged against Kakine still whirring in her head, Mana had to wonder if she really had any further threats to concern herself with. Everyone was so --- beneath her.
Oh well. Problems of the privileged and powerful mattered not in this game she played. For now, it seemed that the unfortunate angel hadn't much up his sleeve in terms of tricks. So, it was time to end this short lived charade of cat and mouse and just put an end to their tango across the dance floor of mayhem.
....switch...
In a clap of thunder and lightning, The Royal Queen was already upon the boy and she observed his bleeding body up close and personal. It was a pathetic sight and one that made her face scowl with contempt. For this scene she played witnessed to was enough to dissolve the cheery and playful demeanor which once filled every corner of her face. As without a proper challenge, Mana was left to boredom and the internal urges of satanic chaos and strife were left unfulfilled.
It -- was painful -- to be denied her pleasure.
Imagine you starving and yearning for something to fulfill your empty embodiment. You find substance, yet it fills you with nothing and ceases to absolve your unending hunger. You eat, and eat, and eat, and EAT, AND EAT, AND EAT -- yet nothing relieves you of the craving. You are only left with agitation and dismay for the cruel reality of it all.
That's the position The Queen was in at this moment. Without proper conflict to feast off of, this feeling would expand further and seek to obliterate her whole. For was the embodiment of Eris; a greek goddess of chaos, lunacy, discord and all things strife and destructive. If she were to not fulfill her alignment as the vessel of disorder, then she knew the consequences it would far on her body quite well.
Therefore, while life was indeed a game, Carter wasn't wrong in the fact that the personification of discord herself had internal dilemmas and struggles to cope with. And, while it was not the whole of Mana's reason for arriving in this forsaken land, it certainly played a part. For while her power was great and seemly infinite, it was not one easily mastered or tamed.
Without invoking her designed purpose -- the madness, strife and struggle within would swallow The Queen whole and send her into the darkness of cold death.
She was Mana Asthavon: The Queen Of Unending Strife. Her subjects, her kingdom and claim to power were all but an empty. Even the ones whom she loved were all but a swallow farce. Without a claim to her own heart, she was a lost soul stripped of everything who wandered aimlessly from conflict to conflict; always seeking to devour the the turbulent spirits of those she slays to quell her maddening curse with finite pleasures, goals and intentions.
So as her eyes set back to the cold reality ahead of her, the time for fun games and play was over. If this was the miserable show she was given, then it was time to end up and finish the first phase of her interdimensional operation. Henceforth, she'd seek to take him up on his offer and pierce her frigid claws into his warm, beating heart.
With eyes closed following that lethal action, Mana focused into her satanic prowess over the construct of death through her DE Energy. Under the palms of her hand would his spirit stay neatly tucked within his being. For while this was a mortal wound to most, The Queen had no intentions of letting him die so easily. Not here.
Instead, she'd open her eyes -- and address the situation at hand.
"You're quite the failure yourself, Angel."
This voice -- was different. Lost was the manic vixen who spoke in southern tones; but found was the speech of a beast who was truly the ruler of demons. Every word bled a sense of coldness, power and dark atmosphere into the space around them. The heavens themselves seemed to become filled within shades of night with every breath taken. Indeed, The Queen of Demons meant every bit of what she uttered.
"Take a look in the mirror: you are on the cusp of death -- and for what? All for the urge of adhering to some ridiculous notion that you are a savor the light from Truth? You are venturing down the pathway to hell -- for the word of a god too cowardly to even finish his own battles. One who is too impudent, incompetent and frail to save you in even your darkest moment...."
A pause -- then action.
The clenching of her claws into his heart would signify the transference of a seal. This was a cluster of ugly demonic energy potent enough that only one with a grand mastery of magic could hope to unbreak. The intention was to have it nag, eat and devour the soul of Carter for his weakness. Not in terms of power, but in mentality.
What she saw before her was a miserable child too far caught up in the act of angel to realize something: he lacked his own will.
While one could argue the same for Mana -- she was birthed cursed.
Carter -- wasn't.
He willing gave his soul to the abyss of light and let it lead him down the path of near destruction.
Therefore, her darkness was being infused into him to teach the boy a lesson: he was a slave to his holiness as much as she was to her satanic nature.
This revelation was shown in the fact that the boy hadn't even the self-preservation to escape, flee and train to become stronger. Nor did he have the will to even so much as fight against the monstrosity of her nature. Instead, he was willing to sacrifice himself and help lead to the death of so many countless others in the future because of his bondage to that element of light. Innocents could have died on this day, but his death spelled the end of countless many to come in years past this event.
Thus, for this naivety, and for the denial of her pleasure, The Queen sought to punish him and have this potent sphere of taint induce constant strife within his body. It would burn at his entrails, claw at his mind and push his body to the brink until two things occurred: the first being that light within the boy dimmed, greyed and came back to reality upon accepting this knowledge.
Following that, by forging his own will in the ashes of his delusions, Carter was to become freed of his "holy" bondage and allowed to use his angelic prowess for his desire and his desire only. And second, with that realization and resolve, the unlocking of strength was to come next so that he may to face her again when he was tenacious to actually be considered a threat to her will and power.
Failing those two things, this seal would kill him one year from today.
All the while, The Queen would personally gorge above his conflict and use it to fulfill her own empty embodiment.
"...as now you are a slave to my game, Monster Of The Light. Leaving your mortal vessel behind to become an angel has cursed you and I'll have you realize that yet before I snuff the last bit of light out from your eyes."
With those parting words, The Demoness would seek to drop The Forsaken Angel to The Earth and allow his heart to return back to him with it's unhinged path unveiled. As it was clear as crystal that he was not going to slay her this day: she was The Queen of Monsters -- and The Queen of Monsters would not perish to another monster.
