June Temporary Upgrade (Madness Event)
Wed Dec 16, 2015 10:52 pm
This is a set of abilities for June to use while she fights in the Dawn of Madness event as an NPC.
» Hardlight: Here we explore one of June's unique Quincy abilities, using Reishi to create what called 'Hardlight.' It is not an uncommon ability for a Quincy to be able to create platforms beneath their feet that allow them to walk across the sky and float—this platform is absolutely solid, and from that a creative mind can expand upon that simple concept with many possibilities. Hardlight is that extension, the ability to create solid substance from the spiritual energy June collects. This element is like holographic light, vibrant and translucent, and solid to the touch. June is able to create two-dimensional objects using hardlight but can warp and bend the surfaces to suit her needs; she cannot increase the thickness of hardlight. This material acts as both a barrier and a slicing weapon at the same time, and naturally will provide a powerful light. The durability to the hardlight relies on the spiritual power of the June herself, and has nothing to do with its size or brightness. Similarly, its cutting ability follows suit, making this similar to a Shinigami's Zanpakutō.
June can create Hardlight at will anywhere within ten feet of herself, and once it has taken form, this form cannot be changed, shrunk, or grown; only moved or turned around. The color of the hardlight may also change. Once created, June has a range of one-hundred meters in which she can manipulate the Hardlight, but she cannot control it beyond that. Still, in cases where the hardlight is sent outside that range, she can still cause it to maintain form up to another 300 meters before it dissipates completely. If Hardlight is destroyed, it shatters much like glass would, losing its power and becoming fragile; shortly thereafter it fades to nothing. Another interesting trait about hardlight is that the weapon does not have weight nor does friction affect it—the force behind its attacks comes solely from its momentum and the strength of the wielder, June. Hardlight also gives off an intense heat equal to that of her Quincy arrows, capable of burning matter. Aside from the aforementioned restrictions, the only other limiter to June's hardlight ability is how much energy is available. As long as she can maintain the costs necessary to use the ability, she can create and manipulate as much hardlight as she wishes.
» Glimmervines: Yet another one of June's unique Quincy abilities, this time based upon the practice of Ransotengai, a technique that allows one to manipulate their own body with strings of Reishi even when their own body is broken down. These strings of Reishi can do so much more with a little bit of experimentation, and June has done so. Her variant of the technique is called 'Glimmervine,' named by the strings' almost complete invisibility, except the rare and very slight glimmer of light that appears when someone is being cautious enough and observant enough to notice it—it is otherwise undetectable even through senses that would normally detect energy. Glimmervines can replicate the basic Ransotengai technique normally, but more than that, June can extend them beyond her own body into the environment around her. Like Hardlight, she can freely manipulate the strings within one-hundred meters of herself, and can maintain them for three-hundred more meters, but not control them as far. They also share the same traits of weightlessness high-intensity energy; an energy that can slice through a person with ease if they so much as walk through one (like lasers).
Glimmervines can be attached to any visible material (meaning she can attach them to clouds but not oxygen), and then be 'locked' into place, preventing them from being moved. Or, they can just be swung around to slice or incapacitate enemies. If June attaches one end to her fingers and another end to any other object, she can then move that object at will as though she had telekinesis, disregarding its weight and size as she does. This ability can also work on enemies, allowing June to control their movements if she manages to pierce into their body with one of her Glimmervines; even so, this can be resisted with a strong enough strength or spiritual pressure (nothing to do with willpower). Glimmervines are not indestructible, but they are hard to destroy as most attacks will simply be sliced in half when they strike the wire. To destroy a Glimmervine requires it to be cut, which requires a powerful focus of energy in one spot, that must be able to affect other types of energy. A normal sword would do nothing, for example.
» Aishadou (Continuation): Adding the following ability to the Aishadou.

» Aishadou (Continuation): Adding the following ability to the Aishadou.
- Death Mark — Using the released form of Aishadou, June can place up to two black marks upon an enemy per enemy merely by looking at them. These marks are two inches in diameter, taking the form of a crosshair enclosed by a circle, and it will remain upon them until June removes it, loses focus, or loses consciousness. A mark cannot be triggered until one post after it was placed, and it takes an entire post to remove a mark already placed if she wishes to change the target. The marks cannot be affected by anyone else, but they also do not do anything by themselves. A Death Mark is activated when June strikes it with one of her damaging Quincy abilities, after which the mark is expended to activate its effects: a shockwave erupts from the mark and deals minor internal damage to the victim's organs and spirit that defenses cannot protect against, doing more the stronger the foe. The damage caused will have various effects, including restricting their movement, reducing the strength of their abilities, and causing their control over their powers to become slightly unstable. Additionally, when the mark triggers, June herself gains about half of what the victim has lost for herself, from energy, spiritual power, and physical power.

[adm]HALT PLEASE.
Sorry Trim, but Death Mark is just beyond broken. I know she has to do damage with a quincy ability for it to activate, but its still extreme as an ability. Gaining power by doing the said damage, causing the mark by just a look. There have to be drawbacks and the ability needs to be reworked for it to be approved, we as a staff team have decided. I'm really sorry. x-x[/adm]

Regarding the nature of Death Mark: Similar to Soifon's Death in two Steps, but with an easier to activate but less drastic result. Being able to lay a mark on someone by sight is the same as "calling your shot" and that's what this ability is based upon. It doesn't do anything by itself but causes the enemy to watch out for this specific area on their body, so I'd like to keep that nature. It is the end result that I'm more willing to change, and I ask what kind of result would you allow to make this balanced?

If you'd like to keep it as the same concept with less of an effect, that's perfectly fine. There's always a way to adjust an ability without ruining its original idea. One thing that's gotta change is the boost. I think that two blows, as in the two marks that can be applied, need to be struck in order for a boost to occur and it should last for only a single post. With that as well, it shouldn't be an extreme boost given you're already hurting the character in question. Maybe something like a half tier or some type of skill upping would suffice for you? And another thing, the shockwaves that get released, just tone it down abit. Make it clear that it doesnt kill sometimes and that they're effects that if one's durability is strong or their willpower is decent they could power through it, plus maybe don't make it take full effect until both marks are struck? I could understand the shockwave causing quite a bit of damage then. One last thing. Maybe the size of the mark can be reduced to aid in the drawback?

I trust that you won't find a work around for the ability what you did was sufficient to me. So, I'll go ahead and reapprove this. Go ahead and post, sorry to keep you stopped up.
