Sagumi didn't need to say anything else in that moment. Words were inconsequential. He wasn't as big on math and probability and other psycho-analytical mumbo jumbo that his progeny were undoubtedly going to be absolutely insufferable with, but he did know that seventy percent of human communication was entirely non verbal. Touches, body language, facial expressions, posture, all of it was infinitely more adept at conveying what one truly feels, and Sagumi's body was sending a very, very clear message. As she turned around to lean in to him, Sagumi gently wrapped his arms around her, one arm under her beautifully swollen tummy and the other gently laid his palm across her navel. Sagumi was indescribably old, he was ancient and had lived so many lives that he had honestly begun to lose track of them. No one he had ever loved before bore him a child, the man that possessed experience that the wisest of sages could only dream at was at a complete loss for how to engage her. So he went with what was simple, what was blatant...what was needed. He pulled her close to him, not caring in the slightest for the baking mishaps that were getting over his arms and choosing not to point out that, as royalty, they were not especially in need of doing these homemaking activities themselves, servants existed for that purpose. He smiled as her warmth pervaded across his core as he felt the small life that was residing inside he love, smile widening with each passing moment. Then he finished the dept of conversation, fulfilling that final thirty percent with a soft, loving, and reassuring voice.
"He feels healthy."
Sagumi craned his neck forward and softly kissed her cheek, wrapping his arm fully around her belly and holding her as tight as he would risk to him. He was scared, he was terrified, but he was happy beyond words. It was not an experience you could truly describe until you partake in it, to know that you created something. He had a feeling as well that the tiny life in that womb would shake the world, would one day be a name on everyone's lips, would one day do amazing, great things. He had no way of knowing how right and how wrong he simultaneously was, but nothing could adequately explain the elation he felt in that moment. He was imagining teaching him how to fight, watching him learn to hold a sword, watching him fall off a building and crack his head open because he was, inevitably, his son. That was just a forgone conclusion. Sagumi stayed there for what simultaneously felt like forever yet only the briefest of seconds, just clutching the now two loves of his life in his arms, adamant about never letting them go as he softly buried his face in to her neck, partially out of intimacy and partially to hide the soft tears of happiness that were overtaking him. Thankfully,it seemed like the actual time he spent embracing her erred on the "lengthier" side of the coin as the soft "ding" of the over broke through their soft and comfortable silence A few moments longer, he spoke.
"These...these aren't going to kill me right?"
Sagumi reached forward for the handle of the oven and, gently pulling his love back with him, pulled down the door of the oven as the sweet aroma wafted through the air around them. The jury was still out on how her baking would actually taste, but thus far she had at least managed to get the smell correct. Sagumi inhaled deeply as the smell neared his nose, playfully suckling at her neck in the process. All the stress, all the anxiety of the past month was melting away so easily in her presence, in this moment. The grin on his face was one he wasn't sure he had ever truly had before, the sheer unadulterated elation. Sagumi rested his chin on Aceldama's shoulder as he looked down at the cookies, waiting for her to pull them out of the oven as he never let her leave his embrace, a small crease forming on his forehead as a thought popped in to his head.
"Have you decided what name we're going to go with? For our son, not the Cookies."
