The Heiress Meets The AAA Battery [P]

Kazumi was free. After spending an entire month confined to her house and the school she attended as punishment for venturing to the slums, which wasn’t her intentions when she went for a run on that fateful day, the blonde was finally free. Her father hadn’t told her himself that she was forgiven for her transgressions, oh no, the father of two had sent in his wife to tell his youngest child the good news. It didn’t matter to her anyways, she was simply happy that her father had finally decided that she was no longer grounded, though she felt like she hadn’t deserved her punishment given the circumstances; it wasn’t like she intentionally wondered into the slums, it sort of just happened. Yet, she was happy her feet had lead her there for she had encountered a blue-haired angel that rescued her from some thugs and took her on as her student. She had become very fond of her teacher though she hadn’t seen her since then, thanks to her dad, but the feeling of kinship she had developed with the angel hadn’t changed a single bit. She wondered when she would see Cirno again as she left her home, the blonde deciding to hit the park for a much needed jog.
She simply couldn’t be within the place that served as her home after her new found freedom and the runs she managed to get in at school did her no sort of justice. So, Kazumi really needed this run. Dressed in the PE uniform issued out by her school with her iPod tucked safely in her shirt and music playing through her headset, the blonde made her way to the park. She considered the jog a warm up, the prelude to what was to come the moment she entered the park. She had every intentions of running as much as she could within an hour, aiming to beat her record before time was up. Fuma Park was the perfect place for such runs, the parking being twenty miles of lush gardens, wonderful playgrounds, with a beautiful view of a small lake. It was a nice scene.
She managed eleven miles before the hour was up and, exhausted, she plopped herself down on the nearest bench. Kazumi removed her earphones before slumping against the bench, sighing deeply as she relaxed. She had been too exhausted to notice that she had plopped herself down right next a petite brunette. And so, the blonde would be visibly startled when the brunette spoke - if she spoke.

Zero.
AAA Battery
Zero arrived at Fuma Park riding on the wind currents generated by her reiatsu, a plastic bag which contents were obscured in one hand with the other holding onto her scarf. It was so unlike the way her soon to be unfortunate partner in crime had come to the park, but it was effective nonetheless. It wasn’t like anyone truly took note of the brunette, the teen descending from the sky and landing on the ground relatively unnoticed by the people who currently occupied the park. Why would the notice a petite brown-haired, sometimes red-eyed sometimes brown-eyed child that obviously meant them no harm? Even if she was there to cause trouble, which she wasn’t, the security that Karakura Central had would make swift work of her and the brunette knew this to be certain. She may be strong, but she wasn’t that strong at least not yet, she had the potential and she would reach it so long as she continued to improve upon her abilities.
Either way, the brunette wasn’t there to cause trouble, more like consume the several different treats she had purchased not that long ago. The park had been deemed the perfect place for her to enjoy her treats for there was the possibility that she would be faced with someone that could entertain her for the rest of the day. Of course, she could simply be wasting her time hoping for someone to come, but she knew that a lot of interesting characters were drawn to Fuma Park and that it would be her best shot at some fun for the day.
Zero adjusted her scarf as a grin spread across her face, the brunette’s eyes taking note of the area. If her estimate was correct, which they rarely were given her seeming inability to properly judge distance, she had landed near the middle of the park if not exactly the middle. It was hard to tell given how the twenty miles that made up the park seemed the same in the eyes of the brunette, but it wasn’t liked she cared much for her location so long as she got a decent view of the lake. Speaking of the lake, the petite teen wrapped her free hand around the plastic bag held behind her back as she turned to face said lake. It was beautiful, one of the few things she liked about the park, but she certainly wouldn’t hesitate to use the water source if someone were to challenge her or simply for fun.
She would admire the lake for a minute before losing complete and utter interest in the body of water. Her eyes looked away from the lake in favour of locating a bench of some sort that she could relax on so that she may enjoy her treats. She would find one, a park bench big enough to seat three people comfortably with a fourth being possible though one would be uncomfortable. No one else was seated there, so Zero had absolutely no problem claiming it as her own. She plopped herself down on the left side of the bench, placing her plastic bag down at the middle before rummaging through it. She would retrieve a box of Pocky, tear the package open, and pop one of the sticks into her mouth. She didn’t immediately chuck the box right back into the bag, oh no, instead she shoved it into the face of a blonde teen no older than herself.
She, the blonde, had plopped herself on the right side of the bench, the brunette watching as the female relaxed. Brown eyes noted the fact that her entire body glistened in the sun and with the way she was dressed, Zero believed that the teen had just finished up with a run wasn’t a stretch. “Want one?” She watched as the blonde jumped, apparently having not noticed that she had sat her behind down on an occupied bench. It was no matter to the brunette though for she would make the teen her playmate for the day, rather or not said teen wished for it.

Kazumi’s immediate reaction to having a red box shoved into her face by an unidentified female - going by the voice - was to jerk back. She really hadn’t expected that and she questioned why the female decided it was okay to shove things into people’s face, but she had been the one to sit down next to her so she couldn’t complain much. Blue eyes followed the hand that held on to the box and found the arm connected to a petite brunette with reddish brown eyes. She seemed harmless enough in the eyes of the blonde, but she couldn’t help the feeling of discomfort that suddenly washed over her. She looked back to the box in the brunette’s hand and she stared at it for a moment before reaching to take one. The run had made her hungry and she wasn’t one to turn down free food.
“Thank you.” She muttered as she took one, shifting her body so that she was angled towards the brunette. She popped one into her mouth and watched as the brunette, naturally, withdrew the box. Silence descended between the two. Blue eyes watched as the brunette consumed the chocolate covered biscuit stick, waiting for the teen to strike up some sort of conversation. She didn’t believe the brunette had offered her a Pocky out of the kindness of her heart, though given how full her plastic bag was she guess that could actually be a possibility, so the girl must wanted something. Kazumi continued to watch the girl, but when no words left her mouth she was beginning to doubt her initial opinion.
She finished the Pocky before pushing her back against the bench. “So, uh, what’s your name?”

Zero.
AAA Battery
Silence descended between the two teenage girls, the brunette directing her attention to the lake a couple meters in front of her whilst she rested her snack on her lap. It would be odd to the people who sincerely knew Zero - her parents and siblings - to see the fifteen-year-old so quiet around someone she desired to mess with for the day. Usually she would’ve withdrawn the box of Pocky and immediately started speaking, but she hadn’t this time around. It would’ve caused her relatives to consider what was on the mind of the youngest member of the Tōketsu household or what her agenda was, but figuring that out would be difficult for even the most experienced given how whimsical the brunette was - personality wise.
She continued to stare at the sole lake that resided in Fuma Park, mindlessly placing Pocky into her mouth until she ran out of it. Sincerely, the empty box on her lap was the thing that knocked Zero out of whatever reverie she had been in, not the blonde’s question, but that worked out in her favour since she didn’t miss the question. Her brown eyes lingered on the blonde for a second before glancing at the plastic bag between them. A second later and she retrieved a bag of Karamucho Hot Chili French Fries - a snack native to Japan. It was her favourite type of chip in the world and so she had a habit of consuming them rather quickly.
Tearing the bag open, her eyes would snap back to the blonde that hadn’t introduced herself yet though it would’ve been pointless seeing how the young Tōketsu would forget it within seconds. She popped a handful of the chips into her mouth as a look of contemplation crossed her face, an action that allowed the silence between the two to continue longer than was necessary. Yet, soon enough she would gulp down that mouthful which allowed for her to answer the question posed to her by the blonde. “Zero.” She blinked several times as she cocked her head to the side. She didn’t bother asking the female’s name for obvious reasons.
“How many miles?”
Zero didn’t sincerely care about that detail, but it was a good enough subject for some small talk and could lead to a better subject. Another handful of fries was consumed by the brunette as she patiently awaited the blonde’s answer.

Zero? Was that the brunette’s real name or was it a nickname? If the former that was a rather odd name to give a child regardless of gender and if it was the latter then still an odd nickname to bestow upon a child. She wouldn’t question the newly dubbed Zero though since she wasn’t sure how she would react to someone questioning her name/nickname and she rather not end up in a brawl or argument. So, she wisely kept her mouth shut in that regard in favour of introducing herself. She held out her hand with the intentions of shaking the teen’s next to her. Usually she would’ve bowed since it was proper, more respectful, and a bunch of other things her parents had told her, but she decided that she could be casual around this girl - she didn’t look any older than herself.
“Sakurai, Kazumi. I’m delighted to make your acquaintance.”
Regardless of rather or not Zero - still odd name - decided to shake her hand, Kazumi would rest her hands on her lap - one on top of the other. She cocked her head to the opposite side the brunette was on as her gaze shifted to the sky. Not too long after their respective introductions, Zero posed a question to the blonde. Her gaze shifted to the brunette.
“Eleven. I’m working on being able to complete the whole twenty in an hour.”
Indeed she was and she had a long ways to go before she managed that. She sighed deeply at how long it would take before her body could complete the twenty mile trek, but it wasn’t like she believed she couldn’t get that far. Kazumi always achieved the goals she set for herself and this one would be no different.
Her gaze continued to linger on the brunette as her mind wondered onto other things, such as if Zero was a runner herself. She couldn’t gauge anything from the brunette’s petite form, so asking would be her best bet assuming Zero decided to answer it. She leaned back a little as her eyes went back to the sky.
“Neh, Zero, are you a runner by chance?”

Zero.
AAA Battery
“Runner?”
Zero cocked her head to the side, confusion evident in her reddish brown eyes. She had been only half listening to the blonde, her mind and thoughts dedicated to what crazy things she would do with the female. Given her questioning tone of voice when she had spoke, it would be easy for the blonde to come to the conclusion that the brunette mind was on other things. There was the chance she would explain what a runner was, but that implied she viewed her as a complete idiot. Either option could lead to her restating the question or staying quiet altogether.
“Oh?”
Those words would interrupt the blonde midsentence if she decided to speak, the brunette having connected the dots fairly quickly. She would answer the question immediately though, instead she would tap her chin with her index finger, her eyes gazing at the sun. Zero seemed to be seriously considering rather or not she was a runner, but truthfully she knew she wasn’t. She didn’t run for a team, for fun, or for her health. It was something Fenrir had her do to improve her stamina and speed, but that didn’t make her a runner since it wasn’t a hobby of hers. She did it out of necessity, she knew that and so she didn’t consider herself a runner.
“Hm.”
She tapped her chin some more, the brunette allowing silence to reign between the two for a good two minutes before deciding the blonde had waited long enough. Her eyes suddenly snapped over to the blonde and she pointed her index finger towards the sky. Excitement was written all over her face.
“Nope.”
Zero grinned as she scratched the corner of her mouth sheepishly. A soft ‘hehe’ could be heard coming from the brunette.
“Sorry. Sorry. Ya were hoping for someone to run with ya weren’t ya?”
She cocked her head to the side and rested her hand on the park bench, her eyes still glued on the blonde. She wasn’t really looking for an answer and the blonde would know this by how quickly the brunette leapt up from the bench. Her back was temporarily turned to the blonde, though that was fixed with one quick spin. She immediately took ahold of one of the blonde’s hands as she leant forward, her face mere inches from the blonde’s. She was probably invading the blonde’s personal space, but Zero had never cared for such things before and she wouldn’t start now.
“How about I make it up to ya, hm? We can go out for ice cream or explore Karakura. Maybe we can go to an arcade. What do ya say, miss?”
