The Kuchiki Family

The Kuchiki Family is is one of the noble families of the Soul Society that was founded over 3,000 years ago. They are charged with preserving the history of the Soul Society and maintaining the public face of the Gotei 13. And, more importantly, they are also one of the founding squadrons of the Thirteen Court Squads and have a strong family control over the 6th Division.

Henceforth, those who join the Kuchiki Clan are often meant to enforce the Soul Society's laws, study history very carefully, manage the affairs of Squad Six and otherwise keep strong political ties for the Gotei 13 by keeping their appearances up.

With that said, many of the Kuchiki often hold an air of elegance, regalness of nobility to their personas. They are often a prideful people, but the female head of the Kuchiki seems to be pushing towards opening them up more as of recently.

Other important things to remember are that there are roughly three thousand active Kuchiki around the Soul Society for the time being. One thousand for every one thousand years this family has existed in the Soul Society as a noble family.

THE RESOURCES OF THE KUCHIKI CLAN

Money. That is the first resource that the Kuchiki Clan possesses. Most of the Kuchiki Clan members that are still around are often considered some of the most wealthiest members of the Soul Society. They often live in the lap of luxury and have vast amounts of capital to spend towards their projects.

The second resource that they have is that they are one of the most knowledgeable families in the Soul Society when it comes to history. This is because that was one of their primary duties by the Soul King. So, it would come to no surprise that these people were often teachers of history and aim to pass it down from generation to generation.

The third resource they have in their arsenal is a strong political position in the Soul Society. Due to them being a Royal Family, their word can often be weighed seriously when it pertains to matters in the Soul Society. Especially given the fact that they were indeed blessed by the Soul King himself.

FAMILY TRAITS OF THE KUCHIKI CLAN

Strong Memory: This is one of the gifts that the Soul King blessed The Kuchiki Clan with. Most of the Kuchiki Clan members have a strong sense of recollection, knowledge and general application of abilities, skills and history. So most Kuchiki Clan members are able to adapt to new learning environments with a much greater ease than the average Shinigami. Many of them can account for things in near photographic memory and this makes it easy to retain intelligence and knowledge for them. In fact, it is often said that if you tell a Kuchiki clan something, they hold it for life.

Speed: The second trait that is more infamous in the Kuchiki Clan is the fact that many of them have a good affinity for shunpo or speed related techniques. This seems to be more of a genetic trait as their bodies are more acclimated to honing in on this element after thousands of years of rapid evolution. So it would not be uncommon for even a seated Kuchiki Member to have relatively high shunpo movement because of this bloodline trait.

Kenseikan (牽星箝, lit. "Star-Pulling Insert"): Clan members of the Kuchiki family have often been known to wear Kenseikan in their hair, which symbolizes their nobility as one of Four Noble Families.

Kuchiki Clan Scarf: The Kuchiki family also has a white scarf made by the master weaver, Tsujishirō Kuroemon III. The scarf is made from the Ginpaku Kazahana no Uzuginu (銀白風花の紗, Silks of the Silverwhite Wildflower), a silver-white, windflower light silk, and is a family heirloom that is handed down from generation to generation and is given to each Kuchiki family head. The scarf alone is worth enough to buy ten mansions in the Seireitei.

THE HIERARCHY OF THE KUCHIKI CLAN

Male Head Of The Kuchiki: This position is essentially the male leader of the Kuchiki Clan. This rank within the Kuchiki allows him to make major decisions on behalf of the clan, represent the clan in official meetings and otherwise serve as a protector and enforcer of the Kuchiki. Often times the male head of the Kuchiki will often be the Captain of Vice Captain of Squad 6 AS WELL.

Female Head Of The Kuchiki: Much like the male position, the female head of the Kuchiki is the other figurehead of the family that represents the Kuchiki. So, just like her male counterpart, The Female Head of The Kuchiki is allowed to make major decisions on behalf of the clan, represent the clan on officially Kuchiki business and serve as a protector and defender of the clan. Thus, it can also be assumed that more often than not this female will also be either a Captain or Vice Captain of Squad Six.

TEMPLATE CODE TO JOIN THE KUCHIKI CLAN

Before we get into the template to join the Kuchiki, I will say the IC paths to becoming a Kuchiki:

Marriage: You can be married into the Kuchiki clan if you happen to marry a Kuchiki Clan Shinigami. You will take on their name and be accepted into the family.

Being Born Into The Clan: More often than not, one is born into the Kuchiki clan by a Shinigami with Kuchiki blood in them. This gene will often take dominance over most other family traits and the child will have a certain spiritual presence that signifies they are a Kuchiki.

Adoption: Being adopted into the Kuchiki Clan is relatively rare, but it does occur. Often times they will need two Kuchiki members of the clan to approve, or the leaders themselves to come to a decision. Once this clearance is given, they will otherwise be accepted into the clan. And, in recent years, they have relatively been more relaxed to this idea given the history behind Rukia Kuchiki.
