Hayden stood within the forest on the outskirts of Karakura, he felt this was the best place to begin his training and practice of his hand to hand combat. Truthfully, he felt like he should work on some of his Hakudo based techniques- although he trusted his Zanpakutō he could not slack in his training to perfect his mind and body. He had removed the torso part of his shinigami robes opting to take a breath before relaxing feeling the cool air brush over his torso, it was a slightly cold evening but he appreciated that it kept his mind sharp. His eyes gazed about to take in his surroundings of the clearing.

The surrounding area around him was mostly a open circle with the outer brush being most the dense forest and trees, he had got far enough away to be out the city but not too deep into the forest. His Zanpakutō rested against one of the trees easily within his grasp should he need to defend himself against an ambush but today he didn’t feel such a strong hollow presence. He finally thought that the forest wasn’t quite as active so he could begin his training to improve some Slayer Hakuda he had felt within him- he didn’t know why this strange style was connected but once his shinigami powers unlocked he felt the style make itself known with his first Kido: Raging Blast. But he found that this magic or whatever it was extended beyond his Kido but into his Zanjutsu and Hakuda.

He began to slide his left foot behind his body to initiate his stance that he used for Hakuda, it was a unique stance he had adopted within the Academy and to be frank he felt it was like a physical manifestation of his Slayer side. His left foot turned in slightly as his began to center his hips crouching low slightly in a earth or rock like stance, very solid in appearance. His body began to shift ever so slightly as his right foot took lead so did his right side of his body. As he began to focus on his arms he placed his right palmed hand out slightly with a crook in his elbow slightly, his left hand closed into a fist held closely to his chest. In was a strange stance added a lot of potential kinetic energy in his legs and arms. He had dubbed the stance Potentiam meaning ‘Pure Force’ in latin.
Hayden eyes centered on the tree across from him, he had marked it as his target by slashing a large X in it earlier. His eyes narrowed as he began to crouch lower towards the ground feeling the energy building in his legs, he wanted to test out a new type of Hakuda fighting technique he dubbed ‘Iron Dragon Lance’which was essentially a punch he was developing that reinforced his arm to metal like durability while increasing the impact power. The point behind this was to be able to pierce weaker Hollows Heirro or end any opponent that was on his level effectively if he was weaponless or close enough to perform it. As he began to try to focus his Reiatsu he began to push off his legs making a mad sprint as he entered his Shunpo towards the tree as he yelled out his attack.

“Iron Dragon Lance!”

As he yelled out the attack he gritted his teeth as he punched his arm forward feeling a slight crack in his own fist as he hit the tree, he refrained from howling in pain as he began to push forward none the less feeling his arm began to push into the tree. With one final yell he pushed forward as he felt the tree begin to split and finally break in half at the base sending it flying only five meters back sadly. This wasn’t the desired result but a result none the less, as he stepped back he held his forearm slightly as he looked at his knuckles.

It seemed that the man had split two of his knuckles with that attack, despite barely being able to perform the attack he took quite a bit of damage while performing it. His arm managed to come away unscaved for the most part as his knuckles took the brunt of the damage. However, He was not done for the day even though his knuckles were split slightly he could power through the pain- at least till he needed to rest. One could never gain the title of ‘Unstoppable’ one day if he gave into the slightest pain or inconvenience.

As he walked backed to his first spot he dropped his arm as he thought over what he might have done wrong with the attack, he sat down crossing his legs and eyes as he began to focus. His hands rested on his knees trying to focus past the pain he may be feeling within his knuckles opting to simply focus on his own thoughts that revolved around every action he performed while attempting the act. He replayed the events over and over within his head his hand proving to be only a minor nuisance he could ignore as he finally hit some type of revelation. It was the way he focused his Reiatsu all over his arm rather than at the most vital points- leaving his defenses to shallow to properly protect him.

He then began to work over in his head how he could move his reiatsu in such a way to focus it over the front of his fist rather his whole arm to prevent his bones from snapping from the attack. This would prove to be the most challenging part of the whole attack, getting the force behind it was easy enough but protecting himself proved to be the challenge. He always knew that he put a bit too much power into his attacks which proved to be bitter-sweet in the sense he drained him faster but also proved to be useful. He liked being able to harness his raw power behind his attacks yet recognized the dangers behind it- but for this attack he wanted to perfect it so he began to stand up thinking he finally figured out what to do.

Hayden was again standing in the same spot he had started this whole ordeal at except this time his knuckles were slowly dripping blood onto the hard dirt surface of the forest floor. This time he knew what type of reinforcements he needed in his Reiatsu to make sure no damage came to him. In all this time he had been focusing on encasing his whole arm rather than the most vital points to insure it stayed mostly unharmed, due to his beginner like Kido he had to make due with the control he had. If he was to succeed then he would need to give and take what he could rather than hope he could power through most of it- case in point was his split bloody knuckles. There was no such thing as failure at this moment but simply a success to improve on, he did accomplish the task of breaking the tree but now he needed to do better. He needed perfection.

He began to resume his previous stance however this time he tucked his elbow closer to his body, his left foot sliding back slightly to gain a better grounding in his Slayer Stance. He took a brief feeling the dull thud of pain residing from his knuckles, throwing his focus off every now and again but through effort and concentrated breathing he was able to begin to ignore the pain. His eyes closed as he began to tighten his hand into a fist having to focus on his reiatsu and channeling it into his hand to ignore the painful thuds his knuckles were making. He began to feel the reiatsu focus and harden over each hump of his knuckles acting like a sort of blow dampener to his attacks. He then began to focus some of his reiatsu into his elbow join as well to act like a piston to shoot it forward, almost mechanical like from the force he would be applying. It seemed he had gained enough control he wished to maintain as he opened his eyes slowly narrowing them at the tree.

Hayden eyes locked on the tree next to the one he had broken down from his first attempt, it looked to be a much thicker and older tree then the previous one. He felt confident in his abilities however to puncture it and perhaps send it even further due to his new revelation of his technique. It didn’t take long for him to let out a breath feeling his body begin to crouch a bit lower before taking off in a blur kicking a dust cloud and trail up. As for him it seemed time slowed he knew before hand where his attack would end up going. He planned to strike dead center of the tree, he would make sure that it would be the thickest part. His eyes tunneled vision for a second as he near his intended target before activating his reiatsu, his elbow shooting forward with blinding speed intending to sever the tree from it’s roots.

As the fist exploded forward striking the base of the tree, there was a loud cracking sound as he felt his muscles begin to flex and pulse as he felt the tree bark begin to give way to his thunderous punch. The echo of the punch resounded throughout the forest as the ground underneath his punch began to crack from the sheer amount of force and reiatsu being exerted on the single point of the tree. After less then a second of contact with the tree it began to warp and break as it snapped from it’s very position ripping in half in mid air as it was sent spiraling backwards actually hitting other trees scattering them everywhere- it seems this technique was way more effective than the previous attempt. It was arguable strong enough to match the power of a higher tier hollow.

However, Hayden had fell down to a knee gasping in pain from the pain he was currently experiencing. While he was sure the previous amount of pain was way dampened by his reiatsu taking effect his knuckles still began to pulse and drip blood at a tremendous rate. Truth be told, he knew this was good success but the pain he was feeling began to cloud his thoughts as he tried to focus past it. He began to force himself to his feet gripping his wrist sure he fractured at least some part of it in the process- but it was something he could fight past. After All, his technique still wasn’t perfect.

Hayden began to make his way slowly over to his previous spot taking a seated position with his legs crossed. He let out a small groan of pain but forced himself to think past it, he had a task at hand he needed to be seen through. No broken bones, split knuckles, or anything else he could acquire will stop him till he finishes this technique- it wasn’t a damn quiter. As he began to block the thoughts of pain the dull thud of pain began to go away but was still present, just not a debilitating as it once was, simply a minor nuisance he could fight past. It was time to reevaluate his moves he performed.

Everything was going fine, he knew that whatever was inside of him was guiding him to learn this technique. Every since he had figured out what this ‘slayer’ magic or kido or whatever it was that passed on to him it seemed to give him a driving power. Pain was temporary, it may last for a minute, an hour, or even a year. However, it will go away and be replaced by what you have sought after. This Hakoda was important to him and he didn’t know why, perhaps it was that try hard attitude he inherited from his family only progressed by this Slayer style. He loved this life, he wouldn’t give up not yet that is- he would try it one more time and deep down he felt something click.. something that was right.

Hayden began to stand up slowly, his knuckles dripping blood as he took a breath steadying himself. It would be this time he succeeded.

Hayden stood up from his suited position focusing his eyes on the thickest tree he could see in the clearing, he had to try one more time before he could call it a day. The blood dripped from all five of his split knuckles the dull pain returning as he moved but again he focused on his breathing as he lifted his left hand placing it on his shoulder letting his senses guide his actions at this point, it was at this point he began to focus his reiatsu where his hand was on his arm for a moment. He breathed out as he felt the pain becoming a dull thud again as he finally opened his eyes steadying his breathing, now he would speak out loud.

“Iron Dragon Lance!” He yelled loudly running his hand down his arm quickly before feeling something change on it, as his hand reached his knuckles he felt the pain began to subside before remarkably going away completely. It was surprising so he turned to look at his arm and what he saw was truly a shock, his whole arm had taken on a metal like appearance losing all feeling in it as he closed and flexed his fingers. He knew he was touching his hand but at the same time he had no feeling in it whats so ever as he then smirked tightening his hand into a hard fist. He would make do with this, this was the strange power he was trying to achieve seemed he was going about it all wrong. Well the time for play was over it was time to test out this arm and see just how strong it was.

Hayden began to slide his foot back again resuming the stance he had taken many of times while trying to perform this move. However, he had the advantage this time with a metal arm. It seemed this Iron Dragon Lance was a Hakoda punch along with some type of transformation, he quite liked it and saw this as coming in handy one day. Yet as he faced down the thickest tree he could find in the clearing he dug his heels into the sand tightly before closing his fist tightly feeling the flex of the smooth metal that was now his arm. It was time to see just how well he was doing with this arm or if this was some sort of fluke.

He pushed off his heels again going at high speeds to travel across the clearing to attack his intended target, his hand held tightly to his body. He could just feel how this would succeed and it empowered him slightly, he liked where this was going. As he neared closer to his target he let out a slight growl increasing his speed to reach it quicker despite how he would practically instantly reach it. Just as he reached the tree Hayden thrusted his fist out ducking his head slightly and shifting his whole body to punch the tree with as much power as he could muster using both his physical body and Reiatsu.

As his fist came into contact with the tree he could describe it like he was punching a pillow, he felt nothing as the tree uprooted itself beginning to fly at high speeds in a spiral motion into the forest knocking plenty of others tree down before splitting in the middle and rolling the rest of the way. He remained for a moment with his fist out as he looked to his fist then the destruction he had just caused, it was to say the least not the result he expected but like it nonetheless. He let out a yell of triumph lifting his metal arm in the air as he just willed it to become his regular arm again- yet he soon brought his fist to his body again as the extreme amount of pain returned. It seemed he couldn’t just wish away the split knuckles.

As he traveled back to his gear to get ready to depart from the area he felt he accomplished a few things. He certainly felt stronger, learned a new technique and was able to push past the pain and endure. Overall, this was a pretty good day off.

“Time to get back home.” He chuckled before walking off in the sun set, it was a good day.
