Why was she doing this again? Oh, right she needs the money. Someone had offered a ridiculed amount of money to hunt down a list of people. Although she had a feeling, the person was insane. Some of the people on the bounty list Chika didn’t want to meet in an open meadow, with the sun shining and birds singing, much less in a dark ally. Although some of the people on the list, she could handle. It would be good experiences for her, not to mention that they had a signing bonus. Although she wonders one thing that was written in large bold letters on the bounty list, she had found. “VO.” Who the hell would write that on a bounty? At first she thought that it was another name on the bounty. However, nothing came up making her sigh in frustration.
She had the picked out one of the bottom names. She had skipped the lowest name on the list since it was optional, and she was not about to beat up a child. This meant Karkat Vantas was her first target. A Sugiura Knight, that preferred a scythe if the information she gathered was correct. The most outstanding thing for her is that he didn’t have a Guardian Beast. Wasn’t it some kind of rule that Sugiuras have one? Maybe she could use this to her advantage since the dossier she compiled suggested anger issues. However, that was an opinion for close range fighting. Chika had another plan to deal with her target. Its name was Bloody Moon, a high-powered sniper rifle that also acts as a high-performance combat scythe. In it is some of the most advanced technology found in the Shadow Fall Empire. The only thing she found she loved from demons after she liberated it along with herself. Inside the barrel was a glorious red bullet that was an absolute wonder. Charging the red gem bullet, she was able to produce a high power shot, which was equal to a cero in terms of power.
She had tracked Karkat down to The South of the Sugiura Dimension. He was obsessed with finding a Guardian Beast. The jungle made it the perfect hunting grounds for Chika. She was a hunter, and what she hunts was another hunter and a jungle was a good choose for her. Sure there might be giant snakes, huge turtles and other beasts that roam these treetops. She wasn’t scared though. She had spent two weeks surviving the wastelands. That was something scary, alone little girl traveling a land filled with ravenous hollows. The guardian beasts may not be pushovers, but they didn’t actively search her out. That suited her just fine.
Getting back to the task at hand, Chika was sitting high in the branches of the trees. As Chika kneeled down, her red cloak spread around her giving her a look of half a flower in bloom. Her black combat boots dug into the tree limb she stood on for support. She wished she could go higher into the trees, but they might not support her combined weight of her rifle, ammo, and her. That left her midway in a tree with the familiar comfort of her rifle in hand. The weapon gave a low hum as it rested in her hand sharing her soul forces. Deep in the chamber a gem bullet glowed red, charged, and ready to fire.
Down below was a gray figure, most likely unsuspecting of what is to come. Why would he as well? Chika had made sure of that. She had stayed up high and out of sight, and never came closer than one hundred yards. Her scent stayed near her thanks to her power over wind. Even now, she was five hundred yards away in the territory of a sniper. The range didn’t even matter to her because the bullets she used could easily pass through underbrush.
Chika’s plus slowed as she focused in on her target. Her eye dilated taking in every bit of information from the scope. Her mind took that information and adjusted accordingly while it predicted the path of the bullet, wind change, humidity, and underbrush in the bullets path. Her hands barely moved as she adjusted her shot. Like a statue, she was still until the moment arrived. Seconds turned to hours, and a minute turned into days. It felt like the entire world around her stop until she pulled the trigger. Once she did however the world started to move again. Although it was still slow when you compare Chika’s mental process. Everyone lived one eight of a second in the past. Chika, on the other hand, was living ten seconds in the future; at least that was what it felt like.
In an instant, there was a small flash as the spiritual charged bullet shot through the barrel. The bullet curved in an arc heading for its target over five hundred meters away. The only thing that could make it miss is a human, or animal element. Everything was taken in count, and only outside forces could change the direction of the bullet. It could tear through wood and greenery leaves a trail of burnt leaves in its wake. It would only explode with the might of a cero if it hit hard stone or the flesh of another being. As the bullet raced, the sound of the rifle firing would be following closely. Although the bullet would reach its destination before the sound could reach.
“Say Vo," Chika said on a whim. She wanted to know what the deal with it was.
“Vo, huh? Maybe I’ll find out as I go?”
