Completion of the gateway of dreams [open]
Sat Aug 02, 2014 11:20 am
It was with a soft pop that the other half returned to the place of its birth. A sad smile formed on the face of the female sitting on the bed, knowing what was about to happen. For she was Inverse, the other half of Rachel Dare, and she knew it was time. When the two of them had originally been created, the distance between the plane of dreams and the living realm had been too large to send the full individual to the realm of the living. Instead, Quor Tarai had instead split them in half and sent the more human one off to the living realm. That half had become the one known as Rachel Dare, while the more dream half had been put in to an endless sleep as she awaited the return of her sister to wake her. In the end she had, and their time spent together had brightened both their lives, but this period of their lives was soon to come to a close. Quor Tarai did not intend for them to be split forever, he had devised a ritual to combine the two once they had reached the point where they could handle the transition. It was now that Inverse knew was the time to do so, they had both grown far stronger then they originally were.
Slowly she stood to face her twin, the perfect duplicate of her. The two halves were identical down to the very last detail, in such a way that it would put most identical twins to shame. Running forward, Inverse embraced her sister with a loving hug. Her head right next to Rachel’s ear, her voice was soft as she whispered in to the ear of her twin.
“It’s time, I’m sorry sis.”
Rachel pulled away, a worried look on the face of the human half. Her sister was almost never like this, and Rachel’s eyes traced over her in an attempt to figure out what was wrong. Tears slowly leaked from Inverse’s eyes before she pulled her sister in to another hug, holding her there for a few minutes before finally letting go and wiping away the tears. Shaking her head, she held the hand of the human half as she led them out of the door of the room it had all started in. Walking down the hall before them, she stopped before a blank spot of the brightly decorated wall. The area disappeared, leading in to a roughly hewn stone passageway. As Inverse dragged her sister along, she ignored the pleas for information that came from behind her. It was already hard enough for her to practically destroy herself, but her sister could not continue to live half an existence, restoring her sister to her full glory came before anything else in her mind. Finally the tunnel gave way to a large room with a high vaulted ceiling. Glyphs glowed with power in a circled around the outside, a pentagram glowing within the entire room. If one looked closely, one would be able to see the dull, uncharged runes that formed a center circle, to which Inverse led her sister.
Pulling her sister in to the circle after her, Inverse turned to face her. A soft smile on her lips, she embraced her sister, their faces only inches away from each other. Speaking softly, Inverse knew this would probably be the last conversation she held with her sister, the only one who truly knew her.
“I’m sorry sis, but this is good bye. We were never meant to be two people, we were only split because it was not possible to send the whole to the realm of the living. Quor Tarai knew that in the end we would need to eventually return to one being, and to this end he created this room. It is the very center of our dream, hidden from us until we were ready, the chamber to return us to one being. This is the last we will see of each other, from this point onwards we will be one being. Good bye, my sister.”
With her words spoken, her energy soared in to the dull runes. Flaring with light, Inverse pressed her lips against those of her sister. A soft, loving kiss was the last the two experienced as white light filled the room, arcing with power towards them. Their forms bent and reformed, merging together as the two halves became a whole. Swirling with power, the very dream they existed within trembled, its foundation cracking and falling apart. As explosions filled the immense city they had built in the dream scape, the single form of Rachel Inverse Dare winked out of existence as it headed back to the yayjuu base, her reentry to the world of the living causing a large explosion and a crackling of electricity. A single thought passed through her mind as she was sent speeding off through her void.
‘Thank goodness Teiru wasn’t with us today.’
