Re: Dragon's Fury [Poliro]

Tessa’s eyes narrowed as her kido were blocked by a wall of fire, it seemed that in this fight kido would be ineffective. It was time for her to take this fight to melee, lose all form of intelligent thought and just go with her instincts. A growl ripped from her mouth as he responded to her demand to not insult her captain. Apparently he didn’t view it as an insult, he viewed it as truth, something which only made Tessa’s anger rise. He then uttered a command, releasing his shikai and letting her know that it had been a long while since anyone had seen this release. A soft growl escaping her lips, Tessa cleared her head of intelligent thought, ready for combat with instinct alone. Her eyes closed, a smirk on her face as she decided to use the enhanced draconic hearing to battle this man. A show of her power it would be, this was the perfect time right now.
Hearing the break in the air as he flash stepped forward, the whistling of blades coming down alerted her to his attack. As his blades came down, her wings pushed forward, forcing her body out of the path of the attacking blades. Again the air broke with a shunpo, the sound of a blade piercing through air came from behind her. A quick flash step of her own took her to the ground and out of the way of her opponents attack. She then heard the sound of the man coming downward, the heat from his blades telling her that they were alight with power. Directly underneath his current downward course, Tessa smiled maniacally. She waiting till he was a mere five feet above her, and then moved. With quickness of someone used to dodging downward strikes such as this, she stepped to the side before lifting in to the air with a burst from her wings. Immediately she folded her wings behind her, her body now next to the falling body of her opponent. Her legs shot out as she turned ninety degrees in the air, slamming against his chest with as much force as she could muster. Not only was she attempting to force him away from her, but she had effectively used the flame reaper’s body as a sort of trampoline. Using the force, she once again spread her wings, beating them quickly behind her as she put a large amount of space between her and the man. As the man slashed his blades at the ground, she felt the powerful explosion as it rocked the area. She felt the fire burn at her skin, her mouth breathing in to devour the flames. Sure, with this heat it was more difficult to devour them and consequently she could devour less than usual, but all she needed was to devour enough fire to heal the burns the flames had caused. It was a bonus that the flames were enough to slightly restore her from her current physical exhaustion. Now she remembered why she did not often rely on the instincts within her. While they might be able to adapt to fighting any combat style, it took a pretty heavy toll on her body to keep the pace it set for her. Luckily for her, her flying had landed her near the edge of the explosion. Now however, it was time to counter attack.
Once the flames had died down, Tessa readied herself. Draconic instincts running on overdrive, she flash stepped next to the man, swiftly bringing up her sword in an arc across his chest. Immediately following her sword strike, her foor rotated, bringing her body about in a one hundred and eighty degrees spin. Her tail raised up as her body continue one its rotation towards a three hundred and sixty degree spin. As she was completing the last one hundred and eighty degrees, her tail attempted to curl around the man’s neck. Should she be successful, her tail would attempt to lift him from the ground before slamming him back down headfirst. It was something most of those that knew her wouldn’t have realized, her tail was actually stronger then her arms. Given that it was made of pure muscle, it wasn’t really surprising, but she barely ever used it to accomplish anything, so most had not seen its use. Following her attack, Tessa would flash step off, attempting to put some distance between her and the man before turning to glare at him with words of contempt for the man.
“You’re nothing but useless trash compared to my captain. Take your shitty flames and go elsewhere, reaper.”

Tessa’s attack had been going perfect, too perfect in her opinion, until she grabbed him with her tell. The man lashed out as she brought him towards the ground, his blade slicing through her tail, a yowl of pain escaping the mouth of the female due to the pain. Below the tough scales lining the exterior, her tail was nothing but muscle, blood vessels, and nerve endings, and the cuts hurt immensely. This was the main reason she avoided using her tail in battle, it was just too painful if it got cut. However, the pain of this wound was nothing compared to the inner rage she felt at the comment the man made in response to her claim. He dare say that her captain was trash? No, she would correct this man’s attitude, even if it meant turning his brain to pulp. A growl escaped her lips as she once again closed her eyes. She could feel it as he moved forward, the ground trembling beneath him as he pushed off, the sound of his body pushing aside the wind at such a high pace, she could feel it all with her draconic senses. She could hear the sound of his blades tearing through air, coming down towards her, and a slight push backwards with her legs and a beat of her wings moved her body back, trying to escape the reach of the blades. She couldn’t fully escaped it though, and she felt the blades dig slightly in to the front of her shoulders, her scales protecting her from gaining more than a small scratch.
She wasn’t spare yet though, she felt the wind change as he flash stepped to the side, his blades coming out at her again. She again pushed away, smiling slightly as this time the blades made mere nicks on her scales, the tips just barely dragging against the tough draconic scales. Still, she couldn’t stop moving, her instincts urging her body faster as more attacks came. With her enhanced senses she could tell where he moved without her eyes, as had been proven before. Now with her eyes closed, she wouldn’t be bothered by the after images the man left, and her body moved, just barely jumping away from the next five attacks. As the attacks continued, she seemed to get faster and faster, having an easier time at dodging the attacks that came her way. By the time the tenth attack came in though, something different would be noticeable. No longer was she just dodging the attacks, she was responding to them before they happened. So many similar attacks, all of the same pattern, Tessa’s draconic instincts had picked up and were predicting every one of the remaining attacks. Smirking, for all but the last one that followed, she would make it obvious that she was reacting before he attacked, but still not leaving him enough time to change his attack pattern. Yes, the man would see that these attacks were pointless, and it might seem as if she could see in to the future. Then, the fifteenth attack came in, and Tessa was fed up by now. As the strike came down, Tessa planted her left foot and pivoted ninety degrees, bringing the right side of her body out of the way of his left hand blade. At the same time her hand shot out with all the speed she could muster, grabbing on to the wrist of his right hand before the blade could make its way down completely. Glaring at him, she reversed the flow of her body, pivoting one hundred and eighty degrees as her right hand tightened around her blade and thrust outward, attempting to stab the blade through the man’s chest.
“You are mere filth compared to my captain. Your attack patterns are obvious, I am not even a seated member and yet I can defend against you blind. How do you think you can match up to my captain if I could keep pace with you?”
Her words finished, she stumbled backwards, her legs giving out as she fell to the ground. Grimacing, she finally opened her eyes as the scales covering her entire body melted away. Her horns shortened, now hidden by her hair, and the claws returned to regular looking finger nails. Pain wracked her body, eliciting a whimper as she tried to deal with the outcome of her fight. Sure, her instincts could keep up with this man, but her body was not used to doing so. She had pushed her body to the utmost limit she could achieve, and was now paying the price for it. Twitching slightly, she flopped down on her side, her wings carefully folded up behind her. For now she needed to rest her body, and hopefully the man that had been fighting her would not attempt to take her life right now. Softly, she spoke up again, not wanting to man to hear her.
“Correction, I can keep up with you, though it tears my body apart to do so…”

Poliro had held back a immense amount of power in this fight - the true extent of his power would remain unknown to Tessa. Poliro didn't even fully know how far he could go yet, because hadn't been pushed there yet. Regardless it seems that he didn't have to go much further as he noticed that she was reaching her limits. He was surprised that she managed to figure out his pattern and avoid him. He thought his raw speed would overwhelm her but that was clearly not the case. However, it was coming at a price.
Poliro got grabbed in his final attack, his eyes widening a bit in surprise. She rotated and tried to stab him. However, Poliro had a free hand and brought his other sword to her sword to block her attack. She began to speak after this attempted stab attack.
"“You are mere filth compared to my captain. Your attack patterns are obvious, I am not even a seated member and yet I can defend against you blind. How do you think you can match up to my captain if I could keep pace with you?”
If it wasn't for what happened straight after she said this, Poliro most likely would of stepped up his power and that would of been quite bad. She began to falter as she stumbled backwards. She gave way and collapsed. It seemed this fight was over - she had reached her limits. Poliro walked over to her. He was quite a respectful fighter - he wasn't going to kick her while she was down. She spoke softly. Because he was closer to her, Poliro would hear.
“Correction, I can keep up with you, though it tears my body apart to do so…”
Of course, Poliro should of known that her ability to keep up with him would of came with a heavy price. In respect, he held his hand out to help, offering to pull her up as he began to speak to her.
"You fought well. You've earned my respect. I think one day after you train more you will be a force to be reckoned with. I've got some decent wounds on me because of that brawl. Lets put the trash talk behind us and act like respectable warriors. One day i'm sure you'll be able to beat me. You've really strained yourself..
It seems the fighting adrenaline and spirit had calmed down - Poliro now was thinking straight again. He hoped she would follow suit with his respect. Sadly, he was half expecting to have his hand tore off or something judging from the bloodlust she had demonstrated in their fight.

Tessa groaned slightly as the man offered his hand to her, her body going limp and causing her front to fall to the ground. Luckily for her she hadn’t ended up on her back, she didn’t want to accidentally crush a part of her wings. She listened to what the man said, smiling weakly as he continued. A soft laugh escaped her mouth when he finished, barely audible at all. Slowly she raised her head so that she could look at him, her voice weak as she spoke.
“A little bit strained? I’ve probably badly torn most of my muscles. I can barely move right now, I can’t even reach up to take your hand. This is why I never fight on my instincts alone, my body simply can’t keep up.”
Sighing, her head flopped down on to the ground as she looked off in to the distance. After a couple of moments, she spoke up again, her voice still weak, but not as bad as it had been before.
“Thank you by the way, for dealing with everything that happened. I didn’t expect to be in the living world so long, so I unfortunately didn’t take the proper precautions to guard against my little issue. Anyways, sorry for being an inconvenience to you.
She looked away, her face showing her sadness and embarrassment for having lost control of herself. Her eyes closed as she lay on the ground, hoping everything would end up alright, but knowing that it most likely wouldn’t in the end.

The words she had endured were too much for her to even take the aid of the reaper - she couldn't stand or reach out to him. Poliro was glad she didn't continue with any hostile actions - he was pretty much done at this point and would only defend himself if need be. It wasn't in his spirit to beat or kill someone while they are down. In fact, killing people is something he wouldn't go to. There are some exceptions to that, but generally Poliro wasn't a killer type at all. Quite funny given he had the nickname of 'Flame Reaper'.
She talked to him, her weak voice was hard to hear for Poliro but he still listened.
“A little bit strained? I’ve probably badly torn most of my muscles. I can barely move right now, I can’t even reach up to take your hand. This is why I never fight on my instincts alone, my body simply can’t keep up.”
Some moments in time passed before she spoke again.
“Thank you by the way, for dealing with everything that happened. I didn’t expect to be in the living world so long, so I unfortunately didn’t take the proper precautions to guard against my little issue. Anyways, sorry for being an inconvenience to you.
Poliro could relate to her strongly due to his own personal power struggle - he held within his soul a hollow that wanted to control him. IT took him a long time before he finally subjugated him and finally made him comply with Poliro. That was the main reason he was out in the forest for so long, away from everyone else - so no one else got hurt. Poliro saw she was visibly unhappy with what had happened today, he felt sympathy for the dragon girl and talked to her.
"I actually know how losing control feels. You probably didn't know, but i'm actually a Vizard you see. It took me a long time to be able to have full control of myself. I was out in the forests isolated because I was scared of hurting people. I even vanished from the Gotei because I doubt they'd treat a Vizard well. Let me help you out."
Poliro kneeled down, holding her up so that she'd be able to stand while being supported by Poliro - he put her arm around his shoulders. It looked like a soldier helping a wounded ally that was unable to walk. He spoke to her again.
"Just tell me where you need to go and i'll get you there. Sadly I don't know much healing so I couldn't do that, but I can at least look after you for a bit until you can stand on your own two feet."
This was Poliro showing his nice side - because the dragon girl had won his respect in their confrontation, he'd be nice to her and do acts of generosity.
"You weren't a inconvenience by the way, You're just what I needed to get back into gear. I've been lazy and isolated for too long."
Poliro smiled at her. This fight actually gave him the kick he needed to get back into the world and to find a path again. He didn't know where he was going or what he wanted to do - but he had the drive to find a way again, because of this fight. Besides, he always enjoys a good fight, that's just how Poliro rolls.
