The Warrior of Black and Gold Takes a Break [Private-Saikai]
Wed Mar 26, 2014 8:58 am
It was about 11:30 AM in Karakura Town in Japan in the World of the Living. The weather today was cold and overcast. There was a chilly wind blowing, and it pushed the shreds of low, dark grey cloud across the sky at a rapid pace. The ground was wet, as it had rained about ten minutes ago and it looked as if it would rain again. The sun was hidden behind the clouds, giving Earth's most spiritually active town a rather gloomy look. This look was only enhanced by the fact that very few people were out and about in a city where there were usually hundreds of people around at any given time. It sort of made sense that people wanted to stay inside, though, as it was about 50 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill bringing it down to 45.
About 300 feet above the ground, something happened that mortals would find strange if they were able to see it. A doorway that could be part of any traditional Japanese house suddenly appeared in midair. It slid open, and a Shinigami stepped out. He was of average height, with brown hair and eyes and light skin. Like all Shinigami, he carried a sheathed Zanpaku-to at his side. This was Kyouhai Suzumori of the Seventh Division. The door disappeared and Kyouhai let himself drop slowly to ground level.
When Kyouhai walked out of the Senkaimon, he'd pretty much stepped right into a cloud and gotten a face full of water droplets. This, combined with the fact that the gloomy weather of Karakura town was such a sharp contrast with the perfect sunshine of Seiretei, had Kyouhai a little annoyed. "I come here for a break from Shinigami stuff, and instead I get all of this..." thought Kyouhai, looking around at the gloomy scene that was the outskirts of Karakura Town. "Of course I pick a day when the weather's like this to take a day off..." he thought as his feet touched the ground lightly.
Kyouhai had come to the outskirts of Karakura Town. There were fewer houses here, which meant that he had a much lower chance of running into a spiritually aware mortal that would start asking him questions. Kyouhai had, after all, decided to come here without a Gigai to avoid having to deal with mortals. Now, Kyouhai started to walk around. He just wanted to see what was going on and if there was anything interesting to do. Of course, he also stayed on guard in case a Hollow showed up, an occurrence which wasn't too uncommon given the number of souls in Karakura. "I wonder who's gonna be around here today..." thought Kyouhai, continuing to walk.

OoC: Sorry if that wasn't such a great opening post, but I hope it's enough for you to work with. I look forward to our RP!

Re: The Warrior of Black and Gold Takes a Break [Private-Saikai]

Like any other day, Akki was lounging around with minimal stress taking place upon his body. His limp arms were sprawled out upon the couch as his legs loosely hung from the coffee table in front. The television was playing some random show, but even that failed to attract the young man’s attention. It simply didn’t feel to be a “watch T.V” day; it didn’t feel like a “do this” or “see this” altogether, actually. As expected, it didn’t feel like a day to aspire for anything at all, just like nearly any other day, in Akiyoku’s perspective. However, this day seemed even moreso offering of the gloomy, unaspiring day as compared to the others. Perhaps it was the gray forecast of dull clouds and precipitation. Either way, the timing of these usual feelings amplified and what was soon to happen—well, the might as well could’ve been god-sent.
Seriously, the timing really was peculiarly perfect. In the moment that Akki felt unusually lethargic, albeit his everyday lethargic attitude, a sort of ‘spike’ rose on his «Clairvoyant Sensing», put in terms Akki could think of in simplicity. The spike wasn’t necessarily over-the-top, but it was certainly not as low as plenty of the usual «Signatures» he would detect. And this time, it felt different from the semi-frequent Hollow or Demon “Signature» that passed by every-so-often. No—this time, it was something far closer to a human, but not quite the same.
Adding together Akki’s already bored outlook and the unfamiliar ‘spike’ on the radar, the young fellow felt it to have a chance of being more interesting than what usually went around in his life so far. Thus, the boy raised himself from the couch and floated directly above the coffee table, courtesy of his telekinesis. Attempting to find his shoes and socks, Akiyoku yawned with more vigor than he would’ve done prior to his “lift”. Subsequently, he found and brought both socks and shoes before him, not even taking the time to actually put them on—rather, he went straight for the door and simply used telekinesis to bring his shoes and socks to his feet. One could guess the rest.
Arriving at the door, with barely a thought, the door unlocked and flung open, stopping just before the handrail that followed along the small staircase leading up to the front of his thin, two story house. Given Japan’s small size and large population, one couldn’t expect wide housing, even on the outskirts of Karakura—Akki’s own was no exception. Therefore, just as the house was thin, so were the handrails, staircase, and naturally the door.
Floating above the ground—so as to avoid needing to actually work his legs—the young man slipped through the doorway, mere inches off the ground. The simple gust of wind added to the already chilly temperatures, and the rain offered no help either. Of course, Akiyoku failed to be amused from these collaborating effects, so in response, he adjusted the local conditions to suit his comfortable needs.
With but a thought, a sharp wind shot over Akki’s head, diverting the rain from himself. Immediately after, a flame enveloped Akki with just enough intensity and distance to keep from touching the redirected rain, so as to avoid needing to think with abundance to stay active despite the water. In the end, all Akki did was neutralize the uncomfortable weather conditions. Even the boy himself pondered the complexity it would’ve taken to accomplish this feat through his powers, had it not been for his hyper-intellect. For a moment he actually thought of how lucky he was to possess these abilities, but only for a moment.
Moving on from the sequence of thoughts running amok in his mind, he regained attention on his initial reason for taking a metaphorical ‘step’ outside: the unrecognized «Signature». Akki consciously focused on his «Clairvoyant Sensing», and attempted to find the exact location of the «Signature». With ease, precisely what he needed came. In an instant, Akki gathered «Pressure» at his feet, and with just a nudge of force, his body shot through the air. Using «Pressure» once again, Akiyoku neutralized the opposing force that would normally tatter his body from the atmospheric pressure.
His pyrokinetics kept up well, as the enveloping fire stayed true to his position; just the same occurred with the aerokinetic gust above him. Speeding throughout the air, the occasional force would bump him, keeping him aligned with the direction of the «Signature». Soon enough, he arrived at the intended destination. From the skies, it would look as if a meteor was following with intense speed.

Kyouhai stood under an awning with his back against the brick wall of a building, trying to keep out of the rain. He almost wanted to laugh at the situation. Things in the World of the Living like cars and bullets passed right through spiritual being like Kyouhai, doing absolutely nothing in terms of harm, but the drops of rain that now fell from the clouds could still make him cold, drenched, and miserable in a matter of seconds. "Funny how this stuff works..." thought Kyouhai.
He watched as a bolt of lightning tore across the sky. It was followed moments later by a rolling boom of thunder. "I like this weather... It makes me wanna fight some Arrancar or something!" said a voice in Kyouhai's mind. It was the voice of Kyokuryuu, Kyouhai's Zanpaku-to. Kyokuryuu grew more powerful in storms since he was a lightning-element Zanpaku-to. "You're a lightning Zanpaku-to, Kyokuryuu. Humans and Shinigami hate this crap because it makes us miserable... But if we get into a fight today, I'll let you go crazy on whoever we fight." replied Kyouhai.
That was when Kyouhai felt something. There was a Reiatsu approaching very rapidly. From the consistency of the Reiatsu, Kyouhai could tell that it belonged to a human. Since humans were not necessarily on the same side as the Gotei 13, Kyouhai was now on guard. "Yo, Kyokuryuu, I think you might end up getting to come out in the lightning for bit." said Kyouhai in his mind. "I'm ready to go crazy like you said." replied Kyokuryuu.
Kyouhai stepped out from under the awning, facing the direction he felt the human Reiatsu coming from. Suddenly, he saw a meteor streaking toward him! Kyouhai wasn't sure what it was exactly. It could be a transportation method, but it could also be an attack. Kyouhai stretched out his hands and yelled "Enkousen!!", the mid-level Bakudo spell that created a small, round shield in front of the user. However, it wasn't necessary, the meteor seemed to stop a couple of feet from the purple, oval shaped shield of Reishi that Kyouhai had put up. Kyouhai, seeing the outline of a person inside the fireball, dissipated his Bakudo.
"Yo, what up, man? You almost killed me there." said Kyouhai. He made sure that it was clear there were no hard feelings by smiling at the end of his sentence. He didn't want to start a fight unnecessarily.

During his descent down to where this «Signature» was, a round and somewhat transparent construct could be seen. Akki quickly disregarded it, finding less importance in its appearance; rather, the young man seemed to prioritize the humanoid shape behind said construct. Of course, what was behind the construct was most likely what attracted him in the first place--the whole reason for this extravagant effort was something catching his interest, however minor. Granted, in comparison to everything else occupying Akki only a few short moments ago, this was by far more enticing.
The construct seemed to dissipate, as the visage hiding behind it was far clearer than before. Akiyoku came to an abrupt stop after finally arriving only a few metres from the «Signature». The young 2nd year was a man of few words, so the fact that the «Signature» initiated content was a great luxury.
"Yo, what's up man? You almost killed me there."
Though the sentence was short, it was enough for Akki to get a sense of the being's character. It appeared to be a man, perhaps around the same age. A slender build and relatively tall; perhaps 5'10, at estimation. Akki's mind subconsciously did an abundance of calculations, and the man before him, planted on the ground, seemed to weigh a couple dozen more kilograms than himself--approximately 80 or so from what the young man could gather.
All this information about the young man before him flowed into Akki's head, whether intentional or not. To add onto that, his deductive skills kicked in, also whether intentional or not. Based on the man's manner of speech, tone, word selection and most of all his "smile", Akki could gather that at the least, he preferred to stay away from combat for now.
In return, Akki would also express his words in a way that would stray from inducing a fight. With clear and concise words, forming a remarkably short sentence, he replied to the foreign «Signature».
"You are?"
Akki wasn't a man of many words, as aforementioned--most likely a product of his lethargic personality, however, even if he wanted to speak, his social skills weren't exactly talented. He could simply hope for his words to be conveyed properly, as he donned an awkward forced smile.
Realising his active abilities might add an effect to his words that might seem malevolent, at the very least he cast aside the flames that spewed from all around him--the bed of wind atop his head stayed, however. He'd accept releasing his source of warmth, but Akki would much rather stay dry. Besides, wind wasn't necessarily visible.

Kyouhai could tell as soon as he deactivated his Enkousen that what had been shooting toward him was not a meteor as he had thought, but a being with some sort of spiritual power. Kyouhai couldn't really tell exactly what sort of being he was dealing with, but he got the feeling that it was some sort of spiritually empowered human. The being seemed a little too young to be a Shinigami, Arrancar, or anything else that had already died. Then again, you couldn't really tell anyone's age just by looking at them. Kyouhai, for example, looked 25 or 26 years old, not over 1,400. Still, this guy seemed a little too reckless to be very old. Most older spiritual beings didn't make such a noticeable entrance to an area where an unknown Reiatsu signature was detected.
The being still hovered a few feet above the ground, enveloped in flames. Kyouhai, for a little bit, was slightly on his guard. He knew that the being in front of him was probably able to use his fire as a weapon as well as a method of transportation. Understandably, Kyouhai was relieved when the other being caused the fire to dissipate. His Zanpaku-to, however, seemed almost disappointed. "Aw... I wanted to go fight a little..." said Kyokuryuu, Kyouhai's Zanpaku-to spirit, in his mind. "Can we go mess that guy up anyway, Kyouhai? I'm bored..." asked the bored spirit. "No, Kyokuryuu, we can't. We don't just fight people when we get bored. Besides, you know I don't like fighting." said Kyouhai in the form of a thought. "Alright, whatever..." replied Kyokuryuu.
As Kyouhai was arguing with his Zanpaku-to, something he seemed to do quite a bit nowadays, the being who had arrived earlier spoke just two words: "You are?". It seemed like this being, whoever he was, either didn't really like to speak or just didn't talk much. Kyouhai decided to attempt to engage in conversation anyways. "The name's Kyouhai Suzumori." began Kyouhai, taking a few steps back so that he was underneath the awning he'd been using as shelter from the rain earlier, and still keeping eye contact with the being he was talking to. After all, Kyouhai didn't want to get too wet. He assumed spiritual beings could still die of hypothermia, and that would be plain embarrassing.
"I'm a Shinigami from Seiretei, and I'm in the Gotei 13." continued Kyouhai, hoping that this being actually knew what the Gotei 13 was. "And one more thing. Please just call me Kyouhai. I don't really like being called by honorifics like 'Suzumori-san' or something." he said, telling the being that information before he started getting called some sort of honorific combined with his last name. Kyouhai just hated being formal. "What's your name?" asked Kyouhai, hoping to continue the conversation.

It was quite the lucky break for the young Gozen. The being in front of him--Kyouhai Suzumori, as it would seem--continued initiating contact. It wasn't necessarily that Akki abhorred to speak, but it certainly did seem to take quite a bit of energy. That, and, he might be a bit shy--lethargic actions don't necessarily repel a social life, but they don't do much towards making one as well.
Though his thoughts about a possible social life digressed, the main things processed within that vast mind of his were still focused and revolved around the appearance of this... «Shinigami» of the «Gotei 13», as he would call himself.
Akki had an okay sense of what they were. The leader of his country was one, for crying out loud. Plus, Karakura High School wasn't exactly a subtle school, what with their supernatural students amany. Rather, the term «Shinigami» was something he was more or less acquainted with. Their existent seemed to be a large part of Earthly life, and even more so now. And at most, considering he lives on the Outskirts of Karakura, where Hollow attacks are viable and common, surely he must've been aware of a Hollow's polar opposite/hunters: «Shinigami»!
But these thoughts were besides the point. It would appear that he would finally meet one, and not all too older than himself. Or.. was he? It wasn't exactly common knowledge that «Shinigami» were humans after death and lived far longer lifespans than himself, but it wasn't some sort of secret either. Thus, Akki was acquainted with this bit of information as well. In fact, he wanted to test the «Shinigami», in more ways then one. Not just in lifespan, but their overall heightened capabilities as compared to normal humans. Akki was certain it wasn't just longevity that was special about them. He was certain he could recall something about some sort of «Zanpakutō» and other forms of practice that might enable defence and protection.
His impulsive side had begun to overrun his thoughts. All he wanted to do now was learn more about the «Shinigami» race, and the way he was thinking of learning was in a way a mad scientist might want to learn; something perhaps along the lines of dissection. Not that Akki was actually fond of gore, nor did he literally want to dissect the man before him. Rather, the young high schooler simply wanted to test a «Shinigami»'s boundaries for himself.
Thus, the young man arose, elevating more and more, keeping eye-contact with the man who had now stepped under the awning behind. At a good 5-7 metres up, Akki halted his ascent. The flames that once engulfed his body made their re-appearance, this time focusing around his extended hand, which held the fire up high. The raging fire expanded, and the gust above his head dissipated. Now, what kept him dry was the giant fireball held above his head.
'Well, "Kyou-kun", please guard yourself as best you can.. uhm... no hard feelings intended.'
The sentences was sent through «Voice-Imprint»--in essence, through telepathy. These thoughts were sent directly into Kyouhai's mind, without the need to move Akki's mouth. Being that it was sent directly into the «Shinigami»'s mind, his Zanpakutō could clearly hear his words just the same.
All that Akki felt necessary to do now was wait. He had to wait for Kyouhai's reply. Though his impulsive side would dictate the need to just immediately throw the fireball, testing the «Shinigami»'s reaction timing as well, at the least, common courtesy was due.

Re: The Warrior of Black and Gold Takes a Break [Private-Saikai]

Kyouhai thought that the person he was dealing with was smart enough not to do something stupid. Even wit his Reiatsu suppressed, Kyouhai thought he could still deter an ordinary human from wanting to attack him. Either way, he was surprised when the human began to move up, taking himself to a further distance above the ground. Kyouhai was even more suprised when the other being formed a ball of flame around his hand, holding it high above his head. It could have been just to keep him dry, but Kyouhai felt that this was not the case. He'd been a Shinigami for long enough to know when someone was preparing an attack.
The next thing that happened made even someone like Kyouhai uneasy. The other being spoke, but his mouth didn't move. It was almost like he was projecting a thought directly into Kyouhai's mind. "Well, "Kyou-kun", please guard yourself as best you can.. uhm... no hard feelings intended." said the being into Kyouhai's mind. "No way!" came the voice of Kyokuryuu. "What, you heard that too?" asked Kyouhai. "Yeah, I heard that guy just as well as I'm hearing you now! That guy can like go into your brain or something! He's dangerous!" said the Zanpaku-to. "Don't worry, it's probably just some sort of communication..." said Kyouhai to his Zanpaku-to.
Now, Kyouhai decided to take this situation seriously. This being had advanced abilities, and he was about to attack Kyouhai for whatever reason. Kyouhai really didn't care why he was being attacked at this point, he just knew that today could turn out to be a very bad day for whichever of them was weaker. "You. I don't know how you did that, but it kinda creeps me out. I really hope you realize what you're getting into by attacking a member of the Gotei 13. You don't want Seiretei as your enemy. Trust me." said Kyouhai, speaking with his voice. He had no clue how this guy was talking into his mind, but he wasn't going to try sending thoughts back. Kyouhai didn't want to give anyone access to any part of his mind for any amount of time. After all, what if this guy could actually interfere with Kyouhai's mind in some way?
Looking up, Kyouhai saw that the other being had not lowered his hand or done anything to move to a non-aggressive position. Kyouhai decided he was going to have to show this guy exactly what he was dealing with. Because he didn't know the extent to which his new opponent's mental powers worked, Kyouhai decided to not think too much about what he was about to do, just in case his opponent could read minds. All he did before beginning his move was send one thought to Kyokuryuu "Get ready."
Kyouhai spoke three words, "Hadō number four...", as he used Shunpo. If his opponent was significantly weaker than he was, all the young being would see was Kyouhai vanish and then appear behind him maybe half a second later. Depending on his level of strength, he might be able to read Kyouhai's moves a little, but Kyouhai doubted it. Once he was behind the other being, Kyouhai pointed the index finger of his right hand at the fireball in his opponent's hand and finished his sentence. "...Byakurai!!" yelled Kyouhai, sending a bolt of crackling, pale, lightning-like energy streaking toward the fireball. If it hit, the fireball would either dissipate or explode, whatever happened to it if it was disrupted by an enemy attack.
If his first strike succeeded, Kyouhai would then Shunpo to a point in front of his opponent, about 35 feet from the being. He would then reach behind him and draw out the huge nodachi sword that was his Zanpaku-to in sealed form. "Do you know much about Shinigami?" Kyouhai would ask. "That was Kidou, a type of spell we can use. The type I used is called Hadō, or 'Way of Destruction'. It's nubered from 1 to 99 in terms of strength. That spell was only number 4." he would say. "And this..." Kyouhai would say, referring to the nodachi in his hands, "This is a Zanpaku-to. It is the main weapon of a Shinigami, and it is also our closest partner." Kyouhai would finish.
After saying that, Kyouhai would let his Reiatsu flare up around him. Now, his full strength was no longer suppressed. Anyone nearby would recognize him for what he truly was, someone nearly on par with a Captain. To a weaker being, it would feel as if an ocean was pressing down on them. Lime green energy rose like a vapor around Kyouhai, glowing as it did so. "Now... Are you still sure you want this fight?" asked Kyouhai.

What was he saying now? "Kyou" continued to speak about the «Gotei» and «Seireitei», but Akki hadn't the slightest clue what a majority of what he said referred to. All he could understand was that this person was unaware of telepathic communication--already Akki had learned something about «Shinigami». He couldn't be certain, but he felt it safe to assume that a majority of «Shinigami» weren't necessarily acquainted with mental-communication.
However, something else caught Akki's eye even moreso than the new piece of information he had received; well, not quite his eye, but rather his «Clairvoyant Sensing». Prior to performing something that provided Akki with great interest, the man spoke a set of words that, though also interested the curious young boy, was put aside. Akki certainly kept the memory in which he heard Kyou speak under locks, but he would refer to it some other time.
"Hadō number four..."
Subsequent to these words was the vanishing of his target. In an instant, Kyou disappeared, a dust cloud in place. In the split-second of Kyou's disappearance, barely an indication of where he went would surface, and said indication was granted by his very own «Clairvoyant Sensing». The sight of Kyou might've gone, but his «Signature» stayed quite present. Akki knew where Kyou had gone the nano-second he had vanished: behind.
For the most part, Akki hadn't expected what was about to happen, but he got a clue of the possibilities. Akki «Forced» his upper body forward, rotating and flipping the young man. His reason for doing so? There was a build up of energy native to the Shinigami--and as it would so happen to be, native to several other beings as well--centered around what seemed to be a shape similar to his hands, perhaps even a single finger. His «Clairvoyant Sensing» wouldn't work to well out of sight, but significantly better in comparison to his other abilities, in terms of being out of his field of vision.
The rotation was put to a stop with «Pressure». Akki was now upside down, facing directly at Kyou's feet. Akki bowed his head, taking a peek at what Kyou was doing exactly. His assumptions had turned out to be correct, as his target's index finger was extended and pointing to what used to be Akki's fireball. Instead, the flame was now beneath Kyou.
"...Byakurai!"
A sharp bolt sent out of his finger towards what used to be Akki's hand less than even a second ago. It was remarkable in itself that Akki was able to flip so swiftly, but despite his apathetic visage, adrenaline was still flowing quite pristinely. Akki was still a high schooler, so even with his powers attracting quite a variety of people wanting to prove themselves, he was not yet fully adapted to battle. Much of his boosted clarity and speed was due to said adrenaline, a weak-point Akki was quite aware of. However, he would cover his tracks well, amply displaying skills of a man much more familiar with combat.
Akki's feet curled up, so as to avoid any mishap or latent electrical discharge that might occur. His feet were already in a different position as his hand was when he was upright, but electricity was a hard beast to tame, so for simple precautions Akki curled. The fireball, still holding up well in his hand, was now coming up and enveloping Akki's body, courtesy of physics. The sheer luck it would take to have such an occurrence happen was phenomenal, as it did quite the service for Akki.
A sudden burst of energy swallowed Kyou, no doubt a release of what he was holding back. Akki had already sensed a «Signature» higher than quite a few other beings, so the sudden increase had been something Akki thought to be plausible. However, the suddenness of it was something Akki failed to prepare for. As it would so happen, the fire that had now covered Akki body did some level of protection with the burst. Though Akki could feel the blast quite well, he reduced the possible damage through a «Force Field». Barely in time, Akki would suffer no damage from the burst. It did, however, send the boy back nearly four metres from Kyou.
Another message was sent directly into Kyouhai's mind through «Voice-Imprint». But before doing so, Akki applied «Force» to his right side, putting him upright once again.
'That was... nice.'

Kyouhai was not all that surprised when his first attempt at attacking his opponent failed. After all, he'd only used a low-level Hadō spell and he just hadn't really been trying in general. Kyouhai was using the first attack to test his opponent's ability level. He was actually quite surprised at how fast the being was able to move. Kyouhai wasn't really sure how it had happened, but his opponent had somehow sensed him in the half-second or so it had taken him to move behind the being and fire off Byakurai. As if that wasn't enough, the being had also been able to flip upside down, protecting the fireball from harm and thereby also protecting himself. After all, Kyouhai realized that his opponent protecting his fireball meant that either the fire was important to his fighting style or he would suffer damage if Kyouhai's attack had connected.
Now, the fireball spread out and wrapped around the other being's body. It was now one of the best protective shells that Kyouhai's opponent could use right now. However, unfortunately for the other being, the flames also blocked off his vision, meaning that he couldn't see Kyouhai. Luckily for him, Kyouhai was not the type to attack an enemy who couldn't even see him. Instead, this was when Kyouhai stopped suppressing his Reiatsu. It flared up around him as glowing, green, vapor-like energy. Also, weaker beings nearby felt an immense pressure, like they were deep underwater. Kyouhai's opponent was not immune to the effects of this Reiatsu either. Luckily for him, the fireball surrounding him was good protection. It took most of the force of the blast, but also dissipated due to Kyouhai's Reiatsu. Also, it seemed like the other being was knocked over by the sudden force.
The other being quickly righted himself using some sort of power. "That was... nice." said the being's voice in Kyouhai's mind. "I heard him again!" said Kyokuryuu just a second or two later. "I know you can hear him, Kyokuryuu. I really need to concentrate right now, though, so please leave me alone. This guy can actually put up a fight." said Kyouhai in his mind to his uneasy Zanpaku-to. "Use Shikai, then." suggested the spirit. "We'll see if I actually need that. This guy's at 3rd Seat or Vice Captain level at best. I could probably take him without releasing." replied Kyouhai. "Well, do you have a strategy?" asked Kyokuryuu. "Yeah. I'm not gonna go into detail in case we're being listened to, but all I'm gonna say is that I think he might be able to sense when I'm preparing a Reiatsu-based attack." replied Kyouhai.
The meaning of that was quite simple. Kyouhai had been detected by the other being while using Shunpo. There was a chance that Kyouhai's opponent was just very good at Reiatsu perception, but it was also possible that the being had sensed Kyouhai preparing his Kidou attack as he used Shunpo. If that was the case, a significantly damaging surprise attack would be difficult. Kyouhai wanted to test his theory, but he didn't really know the extent of his opponent's powers and so he could be leaving himself open for a nasty surprise if he tried anything else. "What to do..." wondered Kyouhai. He absolutely hated situations like this where he didn't know why his opponent was able to do what he did. "I guess I just have to overpower him..." Kyouhai decided.
Now, Kyouhai spoke aloud. "If you felt our power difference and still want to fight, then I have no choice. I will have to beat you down with all my strength to teach you a lesson about attacking people you just met. I must warn you... I can get carried away sometimes and I might accidentally kill you. Just keep that in mind." said Kyouhai. Now, he gripped the hilt of his sealed Zanpaku-to with both hands. Now, a brilliant, yellow light enveloped the nodachi's entire blade, growing steadily more bright by the second. As the light's brightness increased, Kyouhai's Reiatsu could be felt once again as an oppressive, hostile pressure. "This isn't just some Kidou spell." said Kyouhai. "Now you're up against the bond with my Zanpaku-to, a bond tempered over more than a millennium!!"
Then, the yellow light disappeared into the nodachi's blade. With it, the pressure of Kyouhai's almost captain-class Reiatsu was gone as well. For maybe half a second, Kyouhai was there. Then, he vanished into another Shunpo. This time, Kyouhai wasn't half-assing his Shunpo. He was putting all his effort into it as if he was fighting someone stronger than him. Maybe a quarter of a second later, he was right in front of the other being, maybe 4 or 5 inches away. A diagonal blade of yellow Reishi, maybe 4 or 5 feet long and six inches wide, was released from Kyouhai's blade at high speed toward the other being's chest at almost point-blank range.
It was by no means impossible to dodge, but it would be difficult at this range. For Kyouhai's opponent, it would be like dodging a bullet. If the yellow Reishi blade struck, it would do serious damage to the being, cutting him deeply across the chest. The damage wouldn't be life-threatening, but it could potentially be incapacitating depending on if any major blood vessels were hit. To Kyouhai, who didn't necessarily care that humans could tolerate far less damage than spiritual beings like Shinigami, this was a warning shot.
If the attack succeeded, Kyouhai would step back a few feet and point the dangerous edge of his Zanpaku-to at his opponent's neck. Then, he would begin to build up more yellow Reishi on the surface of his Zanpaku-to's blade, "Consider that your warning." said Kyouhai. "If you try to fight me anymore, I'm afraid I will have to kill you."
